The concept is cool. Music playing, a bar, and cooks on a grill with lots of references to Mary Jane!! I can say it is nothing mind blowing but it is good and atmosphere is fun. I think I would come again

It's been at least 12 years since I last went to Cheba Hut. I was in my early twenties a college kid who had a spunky vibe with a dash of adventure. I used to walk from UNM there all the time. I found myself curious if they still offered Koolaid it was one of the fond memories I had of this place being that it was one of the very few that offered it. I walked in and the first thing I saw was the variety of Koolaid. I felt relieved and excited. The staff was pretty chill. Being it had been so long since I last ate at a Chebahut I had to review the menu because I couldn't remember what I liked before. The menu had a very great variety. They had a little bit of everything for just about everyone. I settled with a Midwest Best. It's their own version of a club. I'm a sucker for a club sando. I paired it with a cup of their tasty tropical punch Koolaid and of course you know I had to have that chocolate rice Krispy treat. It set me back 20 bucks. It was a bit pricey. The sando came out fairly quickly. I didn't realize it came with tomatoes and onions. I admittedly took them out. I ate the pickles by themselves just because I'm weird. I don't like pickles in my sandwiches or burgers. I really like them by themselves. I took that first bite of the sando. It was marvelous. You could tell it was made with love. It truly was a site for sore eyes. I savored every bite. At 20 bucks for everything it stung at first but I'm one of those people who believes in quality over quantity. This was a quality sando. I'll gladly come again! Thank you Chebahut for this epic dinner!

Double Meat "The Kind" as a salad

This was supposed to be a double meat turkey, bacon, mushroom salad. However it was just a $22 version of a side salad you'd get from a restaurant. Normally their salads are delicious, I don't know what happened here. Recommendations: check your bags before you leave if you have a to go order.

Their food is always good. But can they pay attention to what is asked? My simple request for no tomato or pickle isn't that hard. I even heard the cashier tell the people making it, so how does this even happen?

Legit a super cool spot for 4/20 enthusiasts--or honestly, anyone just looking for a delicious toasted sub! I had to see what the hype was about. I was in Albuquerque for work and wanted to explore local eats. My oh-so-awesome bartender suggested Cheba's, so I walked across the street to check it out. Very inviting upon arrival, great music playing in the background, and the decor? DOPE! Loved the vibe, especially the artwork on the walls. Came in on a Saturday night, and what instantly drew me to my sandwich of choice was the G-13, which reminded me of another sub I love. Now, let me back up--I sat at the bar, which wasn't crowded at all. I was probably seated for 10 minutes before another diner came and sat down, yet the bartender greeted and served them first before even acknowledging me. Instantly annoyed, but I let it go. I ordered the G-13 on garlic & herb bread, with all the fixings, plus honey mustard and banana peppers. Very good, Cheba's! Only thing--I wish it had more meat, but still solid. Loved the sliced pickles--gave it great texture. Paired my sandwich with nacho cheese Doritos and a Tito's & cranberry. Now, what stole the show for me? KOOL-AID. Yes, they serve Kool-Aid! And not just any flavor--Tropical Fruit Punch, one of my all-time favorites. Talk about nostalgic! Now for the downside... When I was ready to pay, another bartender took my payment and swiped my card twice. I immediately noticed two different charges pop up and asked why she would do that knowing she had already successfully processed my payment. Like, pay attention, toots! While I get that mistakes happen, this one could have been avoided with just a little more focus. All in all--good spot, good food, great vibe. Definitely a must-visit for stoners with the munchies (I know I did... high life! ). Just keep an eye on your bill! Would I come back? Absolutely. Just hoping for better service next time!

    4" La Canna

I could be wrong, but I think this was my first time trying Cheba Hut after seeing so many videos about this place online, and hearing good things from several people. If I went before, it was a very long time ago. All of the subs on the menu online looked really good, and I couldn't decide, so I went with 2 different 4" subs. I got the La Canna, which is one of their Italian subs, and I got the KGB which is Roast Beef and Horseradish. Both of them were really delicious. It wasn't what I expected when I arrived to pick up my order. There was a bar inside and it just seemed like a fun, chill spot to hang out. The subs are toasted here and the bread is really good, making for a good, nice crunch. The sauces on each sub were really good and the amount of toppings were balanced well. Definitely will eat here again as they still have so many different subs I'd like to try. The place next door is also on my wish list.

    The Midwest Club
    Koda M.

Wife and I came here while visiting and I must say these subs exceeded our expectations, delicious, on point and filling. You order at the counter and try to find a seat, it's busy. Has a bar seating with full service drinks, outdoor patio to enjoy conversations and drinks while you wait for food, hip spot. Wife had the The kind which she really enjoyed, I had the Midwest Club which was excellent flavor, the house seasoning on the sub was superb, the toasted bread is fresh and not overly bearing as some other sub shops. It was a perfect combination of toasted bread, meats and toppings. Wish we had some here in Oklahoma! Highly recommend!

Pretzel Nuggets and Mid Western Salad.

I wanted something different than the normal fast food for lunch today. WOW, did I find it! The service was nice, the resturant was clean, and the food was FANTASTIC! The spring mix and the vegetables were fresh and crisp! The peretzel nuggets were delicious! Two thumbs up. Give them a try!

The Jamaican Red (Buffalo Chicken) on garlic bread

This location is pretty fast and consistent with their orders. I work close by I haven't had an off day with any of my sandwiches. The Jamaican red is so good I could it multiple times a week.

    Kali Mist (Spicy Club)
    Isabel S.

Wow, what a sub! It was delicious!! I got the 8' Kali Mist and it was still huge and super filling. The sauce they put on there is incredible. They have so many options to chose from and lots of seating inside and outside. I took mine to go because I'm here for work so I stopped by on the way back to my hotel. They made my sandwich quickly and I was one of the few people inside at the time.

I knew after dinner we may wanna grab 1 more drink so I had checked to see if there were any new spots sine the last time we were in town. I hadn't heard of this Teddy Roe's so we grabbed a reservation for the late evening. After getting dropped off by a car we tried to find the entrance. I'm not going to give away the trick to it but it was fun. Once inside we got our spot that we held. I didn't see a drink on their menu that I liked that was rum based, so I asked the kind bartender if they could make me one. I only asked that it be alcohol forward, but that I was good if it was a more fruity drink too. They brought me a concoction that was perfect. It's a real nice place. The ornate ceiling and the beautiful bar added to the regal vibes of the place. I would definite recommend Teddy's; it's one of the best speakeasies in town.

First off, the menus were terribly hard to read. The dim lighting, coupled with the light print on the newspaper like menus was a terrible combination. Several people in my party were pulling out their cell phones to shine the flashlight on the menu to try to read it. Next, when you're trying to capture a tiki bar type experience, that includes this expectation of fun over the top, cocktails comprised of ingredients you can't easily acquire to make it home or order anywhere else. The cocktail menu that the waiter said was "balanced" when he referred to all of their drinks, didn't really hit the spot. The flavors were pretty limited, and we're all very middle of the road. Nothing too exciting or potentially gripping. And honestly, when I come to a tiki bar I want a sugary fruit filled flavor bomb. And they had nothing like that on the menu. My husband is more of a hard cocktail drinker, and he even commented that their offerings felt stilted and not exciting. I would come back at a future date, but I would check the menu first to see if any changes had been made. Very cool location, though!

Both adults also got the pork belly flatbread. I found it a bit unbalanced with too much sauce and not enough other toppings, and the base wasn't as crispy as I prefer. Speaking of crispy, we opted for the appetizer brussel sprouts, and they were a bit chewy and on the not so super crispy side. Service was fine, and glad to have a little break from heavier New Mexican cuisine on this night. Lots of variety on the cocktail and adult beverage menu too.

I am personally giving 3 stars for this bar/restaurant for 2 reasons: 1) the online menu is not updated with prices - I will delve into this more in a minute, and 2) kitchen service was slower than expected. Here is a link to their menu online: https://drive.google.com/file/d/148CplSivVBTXmrWlSO46WytoWdpd0REA/view I got the hard seltzer which was supposed to be $7 but I ended up paying $10 for a can of seltzer. Got 2 and the total without tip with tax was over $21. Seriously! that is friggin outrageous. I would have gotten wine if I wanted to spend that much. Our lovely server did take it off of her check but nontheless, we were all done eating by the time she got her food and she was so gracious about it. Another thing: why can't I make a reservation in advance for a group of more than 4 when the place was clearly not busy at 4 pm on a Tuesday? We make 3 separate reservations for 4 people. This is a social group, and we meetup via MEETUP weekly. People will RSVP and then cancel. We had 12 coming and then 8 showed up. I am not certain we will resturn.

I sat a brief while at the bar before being greeted and later served a "Sandia Sunset" (watermelon, orange juice, pineapple juice, grenadine) made with vodka (around $12). The views were nice of both the city lights and the silhouettes of the Sandia Mountains. The bar was chic. By all accounts, this place seems to be not a chain and not a franchise either, Brian G. (per your review from 12.14.2025), but an independently-founded and owned bar. When I explored the patio, it was quite windy that night, but I thought I could handle a few swigs next to the smokeless fire pits. Several seating arrangements I went to each had dirty dishes. I didn't like the crowd vibe inside so I just took my drink to my room. I'd definitely visit again, but hopefully next time hand-in-hand with a particular tall dark handsome man.
