Top View of the Midwest Best Sandwich
    Marissa G.

My husband and I decided to order some sandwiches to pick up while on our Ebike ride. I placed the order online. It was quick and easy. Once we arrived my husband waited for me outside. I walked in Cheba Hut and asked the person working there if my order was ready. He asked my name and checked for me. He let me know that they were running behind but that it wouldn't be a long wait. It took about 10 minutes before I got our order. The restaurant has a laid back vibe with plenty of seating. There was a large bar that was open to the inside and outside. I ordered the (8") Midwest Best Sandwich which comes with turkey, ham, bacon, dijonaise, provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, and a house dressing. My husband ordered the Pakalolo which comes with ham, honey mustard, pineapple, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, and a house dressing. He decided to get his without tomato. I also ordered us two bags of salt and vinegar chips and two chocolate chip cookies. My sandwich was a good size. When I began eating it I thought I would be able to finish it but it had more meat than what I was expecting and I only ate half of the sandwich. Plus I ate most of my chips. It was a good sandwich. I could taste all of the combined ingredients. The chocolate chip cookie was delicious. It was semi crispy and the chocolate chip chunks were large. My husband enjoyed his meal. Overall Cheba Hut was a cool place to pickup food for lunch. The ordering and pickup process was easy despite the wait time and the sandwich, chips, and cookie made a good lunch.

Came for lunch and no wait! Lots to choose from on the menu but I chose the g-13 with everyone in a salad. It came loaded with veggies and meat! The sauces were also very flavorful as were the accompanying dressings. The ambiance is very casual, but much than most sandwich shops with custom art everywhere which is cool. Prices were good as well for the amount of food that you get. Only issue was during lunch parking is hard to come by so you may be circling this place for a little bit!

Okay the vibes are crazy of this place in the best way possible. The artwork on the walls is so cool and packed with personality. One of those places that screams keep Austin weird. Got the Apollo 13 with white bread and enjoyed it. Perfect combination of toasted bread, grilled chicken and toppings that complemented each other. I normally don't like paying for sandwiches from places outside but this one was worth it. 3.5/5 stars!

Absolute legend status unlocked at Cheba Hut Guadalupe! Listen up, Austin: if you're anywhere near the Drag (3016 Guadalupe St) and you haven't hit up Cheba Hut yet, you're seriously sleeping on one of the most gloriously chill, flavor-bomb sandwich spots in town. I rolled in on a cold, icy afternoon, and this place was exactly the warm, hazy haven I needed. First off, the vibe is pure perfection--dim lights, trippy decor, that unmistakable laid-back stoner energy where nobody's in a rush and everyone's just... happy to be there. The staff? Absolute gems. Super friendly, quick, and they nail that effortless cool without trying too hard. No corporate script nonsense...just real humans who seem genuinely stoked you're there. Now, the stars of the show: the sandwiches. I went big and ordered the La Canna (their killer Italian) and my buddy the AK-47 (French dip vibes on steroids). Holy toasted perfection. * La Canna: Smoked ham, Genoa salami, prosciutto, black olives, provolone, all the fresh veggies, pickles, their house Shake seasoning, and that signature dressing. Toasted to crispy-edged, melty-centered glory. Every bite was a savory, tangy, herby explosion. It's the kind of sub that makes you close your eyes and forget the world exists for a solid 30 seconds. * AK-47: Roast beef, portobello mushrooms, onions, more shrooms, double provolone, and Shake, with a side of au jus for dipping. This thing is a flavor weapon--rich, beefy, earthy, cheesy, and that au jus? Straight-up addictive. Dunk, bite, repeat. I was in sandwich nirvana. NOTE: It was my buddies 1st time and he was worried I over hyped it. He walked out full and a believer! Portions are generous (I got mediums and still had leftovers for the next day's victory lap), and everything felt fresh and made with care. Bonus points: They've got a full bar with solid beer options, which pairs stupidly well with these beasts. ***As I was heading out into the sketchy icy weather, a total stranger at the bar gave me a genuine "Be safe out there, man" with a nod. *** That random act of kindness in a college-town spot? Chef's kiss. It just sealed the deal!!! this place isn't just food; it's a whole mood. Cheba Hut Guadalupe, you nailed it. 5 stars, would (and will) crawl back in a heartbeat. If you're in Austin and craving a toasted sub that hits different, stop what you're doing and go. You won't regret it. Keep being awesome, Cheba crew.

Dirty hippy with Deep Eddy Lemon ($7 and no up charge for the Deep eddy)
    Sarah C.

I placed an order online but arrived early so we decided to grab a drink at the bar; D'Andre was great! He let us know the specials and made me a great Dirty Hippy- the drink is a little sweeter than I tend to order but it was very refreshing and well mixed. My food order was ready exactly on schedule and the subs were hot and tasty. I got the Kali Mist which I enjoyed, just the right amount of spicy. The pretzel bites were also pretty good but I didn't love the honey mustard- if I get them again I'd get a different dipping sauce. Price for the food was decent; seemed a tad expensive for what you get but on par with general high Austin prices. Though the drink was $7 and that was 100% a great price. My only real complaint is the foil wrap- I guess its to keep the food warmer but I find paper wrapping to be easier to maneuver without it ripping and I wasn't a fan of the way the foil was kind of shoved into the sandwich itself making it extra messy to open. The vibe of the place is silly but fun (other than the drink called a bong water something... gross). Loved the murals on the wall though! There is free parking in the garage behind the shops and the bathroom was spotless.

    Milannie C.

If you want to find the sandwich of your dreams, look no more. I had the Kali Mist Spicy Club in whole wheat bread and WOW! Only complaint is that I am allergic to mushrooms and I found 2 pieces of mushrooms in my sandwich. Luckily, I caught it right away and avoided getting sick. They have a huge bar area and funny quotes and sign throughout the restaurant.

Way too many people complaining about there order delivered. Next time go to the actual location and order you food fresh. Delivery seems to be the only option for most people now a days unlike it was in the past. I never even heard of this sandwich shop until a good friend told me about it a week ago. I reviewed the menu, and there were way too many options. Definitely a good thing because you'll go back and order a different sandwich next time unlike getting the same thing every time like you're at McDonald's. I walked in and was greeted by very friendly staff. Extremely nice location, and plenty of room if you want to dine in or enjoy a cold one while drinking a cold one at the bar. Extremely nice patio as well if you want to enjoy the ambiance outside. I ordered the Kali Mist to go and the sandwich came out and ready to eat in less than 5 minutes. Before I completed my order there just happened to be a rice Krispy at the cash register that just so happened to catch my attention. I definitely had to purchase it a very great price being how big it was jist like the sandwich. Definitely can't go wrong with the the price of everything at a sandwich shop compared to other. I asked the cashier, what munchie she would recommend to me and she stated all because they are extremely fresh just like the sandwich. After my order was completed, she then started making a fresh batch of munchies. Don't forget, to the very left where you pick up your sandwich. There's a sign that states your sandwich will be ready to pick up in 5 minutes or less. Im definitely going back as much as possible. My request, being this is a Austin location, make a one and only sandwich called Keep Austin Wierd. Or you could even make two others, pineapple express or G6

Cheba Hut is always a great choice for me. No matter the location, I'm never disappointed! Service at this location is great, even when they are slammed with orders.

    Karla D.

I'm just gonna say you don't have to be in the state of mind the names of the sandwiches here would suggest. Ha! Though I imagine that to be even more delightful. Seriously, these sandwiches hit the spot every single time. I usually order the "nug" size which is 4 inches. Seems like it would be small but you'd be surprised. For me that size hits the spot. The way they toast the subs is great because it gives the bun the perfect crunch to softened ratio. The menu has several different types of subs, drinks, treats, munchies, etc. to choose from. I like that all of the ingredients always seem to be super fresh from the lettuce to the bun and everything in between. Super chill employees too. They also have cool trivia nights and prize give aways too. I can't wait to check out a trivia event here. I think the prices are pretty reasonable too. That's always a plus because quality isn't being sacrificed over price.

    AK-47 (French Dip)
    Carissa C.

Cool, 420 vibe everything. Staff was friendly and food was really good. I wasn't a huge fan of the "French dip" but the BLT was absolutely amazing! The sauce they add has a little spice, and it's just very different than any other BLT I've had before. I first tried Cheeba Hut in Denver CO and was excited to see one in Austin. Definitely had to go back, and I'll definitely be back again.

    Menu
    Nicholas A.

Exactly what you need for late night munchies!! I've had the BLT and the Chronic here and both were awesome. They have this house sauce that is similar to thousand island but it's their own version and it's amazing!! The people here are always so nice and the place stays clean every time I've walked in. If that wasn't enough, the music is PERFECT. Nothing like enjoying a tasty Sammie or having a cold drink listening to the music here. So chill!

This is the serving of ham and salami you get for $15!!! The provolone was razor thin and I got maybe 5 olive slices.

I knew I wanted a burger from the Crown before I started the long drive from South Carolina. Despite a literal wrench in my tire, I managed to make it there on 2/28 by 1pm, where my travelling companion and I met up with an old friend of mine from college. There was a bike swap going on, which felt about right for ATX. We ordered a beer and a burger then settled in on the porch (the part I call the "inside/outside" because it has a roof). I'm not going to say the Crown has the best burgers in the world. I guess it depends on what you want in a burger. I will say that, for the price, the Crown has the best pub burger - a good basic burger. I got a jalapeno cheeseburger, but I can attest to the deliciousness of the veggie burger and the mushroom-swiss. Back in the early 90s we used to bring my daughter with us and she would play pinball with my friend, Dirk. The bartenders at the time included a couple of guys who used to work at Duddley's Draw in College Station, TX. In the early oughts, I would come in for lunch and try to decide if I wanted the chicken tacos or a burger. Later I came in with the guy I was dating for too long for beers and a burger. Times change, Austin grows (parts are completely unrecognizable and no longer have that "vibe" that seems uniquely Austin; however, the Crown is a jewel in the rough that continues to shine for those of us who can see it. I had an awkward piece of time on 3/4/26 so I stopped by for a NA Guinness before heading out to see my aunt in Lakeway. I had the pleasure of seeing Derwin! My trip wouldn't have been complete without saying "hi." It took a minute, but he did eventually remember me! Here's to hoping it doesn't take another 8 years; because, we only get older and my friends are starting to show their age! I hope the Crown continues to serve great burgers and cold beers. I'll be back next time I make the pilgrimage home!

It seems like it might be a relatively new place cause I wasn't able to find reviews online for it, but the descriptions on the menu sounded pretty good! First of all, the bar itself is quaint but there are lots of little coffee tables with chairs, and a couple larger sized tables (like to seat 4 people), as well as a couple individual chairs with spaces good for working or just sitting and reading etc. The hotel that it is inside of is very cute as well, and has an old Austin feel to it. Something that I wasn't aware before I came was the happy hour menu is actually shorter and the regular menu. There are only three cocktails listed on the happy hour menu actually, at a lovely price of seven dollars each from 3-6pm. The regular menu does have other drinks as well. The drink I tried was the gimlet on the happy hr menu which was very strong, and refreshing with a lot of lime taste to it. There is a complimentary valet for up to two hours if you're coming to the bar, in fact you aren't allowed to self park (it's valet only). The staff at the bar, valet, and at the front when I came in were all very welcoming. :) All this said, I only took off a star since i think the happy hour menu is a bit limited. Otherwise the staff, vibes inside, and the drink I had were all lovely as was the hotel itself!
