My experience with this shop has been getting estimates only. So I cannot speak to their body work, but I can touch on other items. An appointment is necessary or you will be frustrated by wait times. They typically would only have one person providing information inspections. I made my appointment at the day and time most convenient. When I arrived around 35 minutes early I was checked in and asked to wait on their small but clean waiting room. Around 10-15 minutes later I was called. So they exceeded my expectations on getting me in around ten minutes early. The woman who inspected the car seemed knowledgeable. The damage was minor, she did not take long and explained the repair to the rear bumper. A hard copy estimate plus duplicate was provided. Ultimately I elected to have my work done at another shop. 3.5 rounding up with excellent customer service. read more

I see where other reviewers wished they could give you zero stars, that's being kind I think we should have the ability to take stars away. Had my vehicle estimated over a month ago and had my insurance company issue a check within days. Scheduling the work to be completed whole different story. I have called and left messages 4 times over the month and have received zero call backs. My Auto Insurance rep has called twice and left messages and also has received no call backs. on top of this I have driven twice to check up on the issue in person ( one hour drive and a $20 toll one way). The service is so bad that " the owner" responded saying that I wasn't in the phone system and gave me the phone number to the shop as if I have my Agent and I have been calling and leaving messages at the wrong shop and I must be visiting the wrong shop in person. Its 2024 when you made that comment did it not occur to you that I can pull up the date/time/phone number and how long the phone call was on my cell phone? I have been a loyal customer to Checkered flag for over 30 years and my family and I have purchased many vehicles so I didn't check the reviews but I should have. They have taken a %100 loyal family and dropped it to absolute zero in a month of wasted time and disrespect. If you use them after seeing these reviews, you get everything you deserve. read more

I wish I had read these reviews to start with. Unfortunately I decided to use a Toyota shop because my car is still in like new condition before my hail damage. They tried to give it back with lots of small light scratches all over, new paint chips from the PDR process and a deep slice that looks like it was done with a very sharp cutting tool in my door. Also I don't know if they still have the same front desk staff, but I was very disappointed in the way they have treated me at their reception desk. It is so hard to get a call back if you leave a voicemail. Although Doug seems like a generally nice person, as someone else also thought, he assured me that the body shop staff has a normal manageable work load, and is not too busy to provide good service and quality work. So why am I not getting good service and quality repair work?! What is the excuse? They are just choosing to not communicate or pay attention to their work? They have had my car for 2 more days after the repairs were "done" and I don't know what they are doing. read more

I had a scratch on my quarter panel. Fairly superficial but was told by another shop (down the street and will remain nameless) that it would be $100. Went for a noon time appointment and met Doug who promptly removed the scratch and charged me ZERO. Doug was so kind and got me out in 4 minutes. He said "it's so hard to find honest people". I'll get straight to the point-- I've had my car's back bumper replaced here back in 2015 and the folks at that time did a great job. Turn around was fast, employees were nice, I had follow up calls. I got into a fender bender this October 2017, where my hood crunched. I went back to this place and scheduled my appointment for the vehicle. After dropping off my car, I waited a week and was curious to why I had no follow up call. I called in to check on the status of my car and it seemed as if no one knew what was happening with my vehicle, they asked to call me back. I get a call back that same day and the folks said that they finally had the insurance folks scheduled to look at my car and it was going to be another week. Fine, no big deal. The following week, I didn't receive any follow up on my car. I called towards the end of the week and after being transferred one too many times, I finally got on the phone with someone and they said, my car had needed x-amount of work done and that it would be done by sometime next week. Again, no big deal-as long as I know it is being cared for. Another week rolls by, I still don't hear any follow up. I called on a Thursday because I was told that day would be ideal to check back in--I called in and they said it will be another week. By this point, I'm wondering why they haven't bothered to call --To at least update me. They explained to me a bunch of items that needed to be done and the insurance company sent me a new bill on new charges. I was carless for about 4 weeks until one day, I decided to personally make a visit to the body shop. Reception folks don't have much of a personality to greet you, as they are more concerned with you getting out of their way. I asked to see my car and the main guy (who I will keep nameless) came out to greet and show me my car. In almost 4 weeks, my car's front end assembly was laying on the floor. I thought to myself, what the hell is going on here? He explained to me everything and pointed a few things to me that somewhat made sense to me, but was clear enough to give me insight what my car needed. The gentlemen who was assembling my vehicle said it would be done before Friday. I wait until the next week and I get a call on Thursday that my car was ready. I show up, receptionist gives me my keys, and goes about her business. Again, the lack of customer service personality just kills the experience. My car is parked and I noticed unusual alignment. Bumper is not flushed neatly to my headlamps, hood is not flushed with my fender, as it shows to be positioned slightly lower in height. Not having a vehicle for nearly 4 weeks, no follow up calls, and then a car that was botched together? No, not acceptable at all. I don't plan to be in an accident again, but if I ever have an issue with my car, I'm never coming back here again. For the folks reading this, just do yourself a huge favor and don't visit these folks. Customer Service lacks terribly and I know this because I used to work at a car dealership, I know how important those calls are. read more

Ugh, this place is the worst of the worst of the worst. Where does one start?!. The service is very poor and very bad. You wait in line for ages, then the staff practice customer favoritism. My first day I was waiting in line for a really long time, then a family came by, whom the receptionist knew, so he left me standing there without an apology while he attended to them. I had to call him out on it after they left before he apologized. Then the manager Don, the most impolite human I have ever met in all 6 continents I've been!. Fixed my car, left it filthy. I had to complain before they washed it. I came to the conclusion that most of the people I interacted with did not like their job, that really was the only explanation I had for their poor customer service. The only person who was a breath of fresh air during my ordeal was Mr Becker. Always polite and always ready to help. This place needs a new manager, and a swap of the reception staff!. The shop is only open M-F, but i was accommodated to my request to pick it up sat at bmw dealership. ...car was vacuumed, washed , and tires were waxed..i have no issue with any employees. read more

It totally blows having to get body work done on your car. But, accidents happen. I used Checkered Flag Body Shop and that made the process a bit easier. They are great about filing the paperwork with your insurance to get coverage. They are easy to set up appointments with as well. The work they did on my car was top notch. I was very pleased with the service I received. I would definitely use them again. The only caveat is that you should check before you leave them your car if they are ordering a part. Sometimes, your car will sit in there lot for days while they are waiting on a part that was ordered. Meanwhile, you're driving around in a rental car and that's costing you. That happened to me more than once with them. Now, I ask them up front to order the parts and I will bring my car in when the parts are there. read more

Took my wife's white Elantra in for flaking paint the day we left for our wedding and the shop was already busy. They said it could be possible to get it done by the time we come back. Well the day before we left back home they notified us it was done and when we got our car back the paint job was flawless! I wish there was a no star option because I would rather select that. Left my car at the beginning of this year 2014 and the car was completed today. The car was sitting at their lot waiting for parts and manpower to start working on the car. Had to leave the car due to the light of check engine and oil was on. They supposedly fixed the issue but the lights are back. They did a horrible paint job in some sections of the car and charged my insurance for new parts when the parts they supposedly installed were the original parts. The parts were not new. People review your invoices and request your adjuster to check everything section by section. They failed to put some screws on my car but they did charged for them. The customer service is horrible and I would never recommend this place to anyone!! The receptionist never knows anything and what she cares is about playing games at the computer. The rental store besides their building told me that lots of customers have complained about Checkered Flag auto shop. read more

I went through the riptide car wash on little creek and the blowers at the end of the car wash partially detached the exterior roof moulding on my 2018 Toyota Tacoma sport. Very frustrated as I didn't think that should have happened, I came to Checkered Flag Toyota body shop to see if it might be a quick or easy fix. Luckily, Victoria was up front. Without hesitation she asked me for the keys and drove it back to the body shop. David was able to adjust the clip and got it on there securely. She brought it back up, didn't charge me a thing, and even suggested I bring it back if it gives me any more trouble. Great service! Thank you thank you!!! read more

I guess I don't really have too much to say about the body shop except "good work". I dropped my car off to repair some front end damage (I hit a deer! Don't worry--Bambi escaped only slightly scathed but my brand new car was crushed). The staff was friendly. I was shocked at how long it would take, but after having subsequent body work performed at other locations, I realized that their timeframe fit the industry standard. Since my insurance company was covering the cost, there really wasn't much to it. I got my car back after about a week and a half and it looked as good as new. read more

Don't ever go there if you can help it. I took my toyota Corrella to the shop to get my front bumper fixed. I dropped my car off and they said it would take about two weeks. I was put into an rental. I asked my claims rep if I could keep my rental car for another week and half because I had to go out of town on business. So they had the car for another week and a half. After I return they said my car was ready for pick up. I picked up my car and drove it off the lot. They come calling me the next 2 hours saying " We order an new bumper for you and we didn't put it on, the one that is on now is not the right one" I was soo upset. I said you all had the car for an extra week and half and the right size bumper was not attached right!!!. Never again will they get my service for repair NEVER!! read more

DIDN'T COMPLETE REPAIRS AND LACK OF PROFESSIONALISM Upon getting notification that my car was repaired and ready to pick up, I sent a family member to grab it for me (I work out of town). Upon arrival, the family member had to wait 20-30 minutes while the one handler for my car appeared to be on a social call, laughing and giggling her way through it. The family member had to then ask a second time for just the key so they could go. After driving away, they noticed the Tire Pressure Monitor alarm was still on and wasn't repaired. The item was noted upon turning the car in to get fixed. Maybe a minor deal for some, but not paying attention to detail, and lack of professionalism is kind of big to me. Doesn't help when you live on the Eastern Shore, an hour away, and have extra expense getting the car there and back yet a second time. read more

Body shop work was good but they took a small tear that was on my steering wheel cover and managed to rip it far worst than what it was and then wanted to offer me a discount on buying and installing a new steering wheel that was $800. I would never take my car to that body shop again! I didn't go in for a new steering wheel, my car was there for a new bumper! read more

If there was a no star option I would rather select that. From the first time I stepped into their building I experienced nothing but negativity. I waited for an hour in the waiting room to speak with one of their adjusters. After an hour I approached the front desk and asked how much longer I had to wait, she said she didn't know I was waiting. I could have been taken care of in minutes if it weren't for their careless communication skills. Once I dropped my car off, being told it should take 2 weeks, the only update I got told me it was going to paint midway through the second week. Then, without any explanation, it didn't make it to paint until the next week. 3 weeks later and nearly $600.00 in rental car fees it was finally done. Great, this experience is over with, NOT! They chipped my driver door handle, broke my intake heat shield, left my battery terminal barely attatched, and my check engine light is on. So you would think they would be in a rush to take care of this? Well, you're wrong. Just like the original work done, they obviously do not care about timely customer service. I haven't gotten a response in nearly 2 1/2 weeks!!! This is by far the WORST customer service I've ever experienced. Pathetic communication skills. Zero care or regard for the customers vehicle. Not one positive thing through the whole ordeal. Would never recommend this body shop to anyone. Ever. read more

My daughter was t-boned in a parking lot. Repairs were about $3000. Our Jetta has been back 3 times bc the repairs were not done properly (hand print in the paint, door light missing, windows didn't close fully). Also - when returning for repairs, I asked for receipts and was told receipts would be mailed. Never got anything so it makes me think they are not recording that initial repairs are not done thoroughly. No paper trail. Will not take a vehicle there again. Love my Jetta...but not this body shop. read more

I'm honestly furious. The day I dropped off my car, I waited almost an hour for a ride to Enterprise, only to find out to my shock that the Enterprise rental place was LITERALLY 2 doors down. Less than a 3 minute walk. And no one at the body shop thought it pertinent to tell me that. Now, they have had my Audi for going on 3 weeks, and every time I call, no one can answer any of my questions except my "case manager" who I'm always transferred to and who has never once picked up the phone. When I call back again, and explain to the receptionist that no one ever picks up my calls, her only solution is to transfer me to a manager instead, who shockingly also doesn't answer their phone. Apparently getting up from the desk and walking to the back to get an answer to my simple question is too much for the receptionists to handle. The quality of customer service is no where near the level that I'm used to through my regular Audi dealership, and should I ever need more work done I won't be returning here. read more

If you value your life and your time, please find another body shop. My initial visit was to have the adjuster provide an estimate. I called in advance, no appointments are given, they are available 8-5. I went there at 1:15, and adjust or at lunch with several people ahead of me. I patiently awaited his return and for my turn. Estimate provided in 10 minutes as damage was minimal. Upon return to office to schedule repair a very irate women stopped by adjuster and started yelling at him about him not returned 3 days worth of voicemails and emails. He promptly left me and took her to back to take care of her issue so the other customers would hear. I finally left, but that should of been my warning. My car was repaired, zero communication, my phone calls not returned and I left numerous messages. I picked up my car to find old Pepsi bottle and a vehicle systems fault light on.(I had been rear ended and they replaced bumper). I brought this to adjusters attention who brought me my car, and he didn't know why light was on. Had me step on brakes, blinker, etc. said all worked. Told me he would check with audi about what light meant and would call me to have fixed. Since I had turned in my rental car and I had no way to get home, I took my car. Needless to say, I had no brake lights! None! How could he let me drive away with such a huge safety issue! I drove like that for a week waiting for him to return phone calls and me speaking to 2 managers. Audi service ended up fixing his mistake; the body shop had not reconnected my bumper lights to the tailgate lights. Glad my safety and others around me weren't affected by his negligence. read more

I took my car in to get damages repaired due to a minor car accident caused by debris on the highway. I was already a bit upset that I had to dish out $500 for my deductible over an accident that was unavoidable. My first impression of checkered flag was positive, but that quickly changed once they stopped talking and starting acting. Not too much had to be repaired, just a few parts needed to be ordered. I did need an adjustor to come out, so I expected my car to be in the shop for at most 2 weeks. Man, was I wrong. My car sat in their shop for 4 weeks and I was told that my insurance had not paid them. Not once did checkered flag call me to update me on the status of my car, nor tell me that the payment was an issue. I called my insurance agent and they told me Checkered Flag was not submitting the proper paperwork and that the payment could not be issued until they did. You would expect a body shop, who does repairs 24/7, to communicate effectively with the insurance companies. Apparently not. I was not pleased with having to constantly question the body shop as to why my car is still not ready, especially with my rental car deductible being met while my car sat in the shop ready to go. I was even more bothered by the fact that I was told my car was ready but I couldn't get it unless I wanted to pay what my insurance owed them...all while my insurance agent could not get anyone from the body shop to call him back. This was a constant issue with this place as well. When I was finally able to get my car, I had to sit for almost a hour in the waiting room. That is completely unacceptable. Nobody should have to wait that long to PICK UP their vehicle. The manager eventually came to get me to go over the repairs of my car. A nice gesture, but the guy was absolutely clueless on the repairs done and while looking over my car there were noticeable grease marks all over the hood. My first reaction, "What else did you guys miss?" That then became the other issue with this place of business. I get my car home and a few days later, when I finally drove my car at night, I quickly noticed that my gear shift lights were out. At this point I was screwed bc I already paid my deductible and signed off on my car (it was picked up during the day). I called the manager immediately to see if they would take a look at the problem. I gave it 24hrs and he never called me back (poor customer service!). At this point I got my insurance agent involved. Still didn't hear back from the body shop. I called AGAIN and told the receptionist to have this manger to call me. I finally then got a call and they agreed to look at my car. I told the body shop that I want an appointment to avoid a long wait and I was told I wouldn't have to wait long. At first you would think, oh how nice. Not at all. Took my car back in where I sat for over 1 hour just to hear Terry (the estimater at checkered flag who handled my case) tell me that it will cost $700 to get to the light bulb and replace it. He tried to convince my that the year of my car had the light bulb in a super hard place to get to and that it would be hours of work getting to the bulb. He said that the years before and after my car model were easy, but mine was for some reason harder. I may be a female who knows nothing about cars, but I saw this scam a mile away. You have got to be kidding me?! My insurance agent even knew this was a scam. I ended up having my significant other replace the light bulb in my console, took him 10 minutes and $5 for 2 light bulbs. I am now dealing with a strange noise coming from my car, which makes me nervous about the work on my car. They also didn't even reset my "Maintenance Required" light after the supposed oil change performed. This light has always been reset when I get oil changed, and seeing them not reset it on top of everything else experienced here makes me believe this body shop lacks high quality service. Please avoid this body shop!! You will waste precious time sitting in their lobby where the tv is too loud and the estimaters are friendly to your face and make you feel safe when you aren't. Checkered Flag has reinstated my hatred towards dealerships. They will never get business from myself, my friends, and anyone my insurance agents talks with because he too does not think highly of this place. read more

The customer service at this shop is horrible. My wife dropped my vehicle off and wasn't even given the details of what was to happen next. I had to call to the shop myself and it was like pulling teeth. The lady Laura has absolutely no customer service skills. She doesn't call when she says she will call, doesn't return phone calls, and is very rude. I've been told my car would be ready on two different days, but yet nothing. From day one when I brought my car in for an estimate, every step of the way they screwed things up. From not including labor on the original estimate and not telling me until 2 days after I dropped my car off, then waiting for insurance approval before starting any repairs at all, to estimating the repair would take 4 days and then it taking over 2 weeks, to then reusing parts on my door which a month later needed to be replaced, to finally holding funds from the insurance company for a month before scheduling the repair because they claimed they couldn't "locate" the funds they had received...... Seriously, just the worst customer service I can imagine. I was very patient with them too, but if you keep my car for 3 times as long as you estimated, I at least expect the repair to be done right so I don't have to come back a month later. And denying they received insurance money to pay for the repair when their own accounting department sent me a reciept for it! That really took the cake. I am *hopefully* picking my car up today for the last time and then I will never, ever be seeing this body shop again! read more

I dropped my car off for a 1 or 2 week repair. Four weeks later I am still waiting. Good luck getting someone to call you and explain any problems. Somehow things were always stuck between the body shop and the insurance company or the body shop and the service department --- it was never their fault. If you use them be prepared to play detective daily or else get used to the bus. read more
