Car had a couple of intermittent warnings. (I called my regular Svc advisor after first warning. No issue found). I purchased the extended warranty because of all of the computers in the car. Apparently diagnosing issues isn't covered by the warranty. Because one of the sensors was going off, even though coolant levels were correct, that's a charge. Addressing other computer issues was not covered bc it was diagnostic. No one should EVER have an $850 Svc bill on a car you've owned less than 12 months. 30k miles. Checkered Flag BMW may have the worst service department in the area. They have my 760 in for "emergency service" and can't get the part, waiting fro one from Germany. Since we have had the car this is the third time for the same problem. What makes it worst is you can't talk to a real person but have to deal with their automated service and don't wait for a call back. You might get a text. And then no loaner and the young lady in that department is just rude and full of excuses rather then focus on a solution. I traded a 2022 Mercedes GLC300 in for a 2022 BMW x3. The day we went pick her up I didn't check the interior out very well Until I got home. They did not clean the interior at all. I had food under the front seats and even found a nickel setting right there in plain sight. They was sticky stuff on the driver wheel. The piece that is put where the cigarette lighter is was missing . The sales person went and grabbed one out of another car. Funny if they cleaned the car out and detailed it like they're suppose to for customers who are buying something from them They would have found it in the backseat. This is now my second trip to our local BMW for a test drive. This time went much more smoothly. BMW has stepped up their game in comparison to other luxury car brands in the same group as them. Warranty coverage and friendly service. We worked with one of their sales agents prior to arriving and he was ready and waiting with some details/info on the cars we planned to purchase if the test drive's went right. My super pleasant and informative salesman Michael had a great lead on a just traded X5 SUPERB condition vehicle. The previous owners were still in process. As everyone else mentioned, $199 for diagnostic. I'm not a car person so I take whatever the service manager said how $900 labor on fuel tank retainer clip. But the alignment here in Checkered Flag BMW is definetely overpriced. $449 for 2010 and newer models, $349 for before 2010 models. I googled BMW alignment and most of the BMW dealers offer around $200 for alignment. Yes, price varies in different locations. But what causes the price so top of market? I guess Checkered Flag is the only BMW around and the other one is by Newport News airport. So people have to come here to pay for so jacked up price. The service is alright. The reason for this 1 star is because of my experience after. After picking up my car 0n 1/25 I noticed I had been overcharged. I Pray this review reaches the people it need to! I pulled in with a 2023 BMW and CASH in hand to purchase a 2026 X6 I had seen on their website. I walked the lot, located the vehicle and even sat in it and not a single person came outside to say hello. Now it is about 35 degrees outside so I gave the benefit of the doubt maybe they didn't see me. I walked past the exterior of the glass showroom where there was about 4-5 Employees sitting in the Sales office that sit to the far right of the showroom and every single one of them looked at me through the glass as I looked at the cars on their patio. Not a single person came to greet me. I then walk inside the showroom past that same group of employees that saw me and still no one got up to say hello or offer me help. After 2 laps in the showroom a lady offered her hand when she finished up with a customer. I purchased my vehicle from this dealership. The purchasing experience was great. However I have had terrible experience with the service department. I purchased a maintenance warranty with my car which covered maintenance and oil changes. My car is a Mercedes and every time I have had bring my car there (oil changes) to be covered with the warranty that I paid money for the service reps look at me like I'm crazy for bringing my car there because it isn't a BMW. I've been told every year for my annual oil change "we don't service your car it's not a BMW". However after the fact I was given recommendations for further repairs that needed to be conducted which at the time seemed exaggerated and the price inflated compared to previous repairs I had done at another BMW dealership while out of state. On January 2nd I placed a deposit on a custom X3 M Series build with Will Bailey at Checkered Flag BMW. At the time, I was told allocations generally took 2-3 months, followed by another 2 months to complete the build for pick up. Running an OEM distribution organization of my own, I fully understood there would be tolerance associated with the lead times provided due to supply chain and raw material interruptions. Being told the allocations traditionally are announced the first week of the month, and with Will stating that there's a shot I could still make it on the January list, I was thrilled to begin receiving updates on the progress of my vehicle. To my detriment, there would be no updates provided from January through late May. I called each month, of which I can only believe I was ignored, as my calls were never answered by Will, nor any callback received from the countless voicemails left. Not wanting to lose my place in line for allocation, I decided to stick it out and figured I'd stop by the dealership in April since there had been no contact up to that point. He was apologetic, but did not seem sincere. He told me he would be reaching out to other dealerships to swap allocations. I walked away knowing that I would be out of sight and out of mind the second I reached the parking lot. As expected, not even a follow up to provide an update on any progress or failures. I called the dealership weeks later and asked if Will was still employed due to the no contact made, and they passed me over to another sales rep for help. I explained my situation and they were very apologetic and told me they would call back with more information that day. No call back. Mind you, I could not get a hold of any managers either... all calls delivered to voicemail. I continued to call and leave voicemails and finally received a reply to one of the many emails I sent, which stated I had waited too long and he was going to find out what was going on. Knowing that the cycle of no effort, customer service, or proactive communication, let alone any communication, would continue, I called a competitor BMW dealership a couple hours away for a sanity check. I was shocked to have reached a manager right away, whom was beyond professional and helpful. Within minutes he laid out all of the available allocations for the vehicle I built, and even filtered it to this region and availability of custom allocations. To my dismay, he also told me production on the 2023 would cut off around June/July, meaning I should be prepared for the 2024. All information I would have expected to of been proactively communicated to me from Checkered Flag. I also asked if they were contacted regarding an allocation swap, and the answer was no. With that information, I walked into Checkered Flag to request a refund on my deposit. When greeted by whom I assume was a manager, and asking for Will, the interaction was very distasteful and felt cocky as he loudly stated, "Will, a new sale just walked in for you." I reintroduced myself stating he may not remember who I am, of which he stated he had, and said sorry about the wait. I immediately requested a refund, of which he sat me at his cubical and said he'd be back once AP handled the refund. While waiting for 10mins staring into space, I assumed Will or even a manger would come by and see what they could do to maintain me as a customer. Clearly they did not care about the custom M Series vehicle that they could earn easy commission on, because I sat there until Will was done waiting for AP to process and print out the paperwork. I was very much being avoided, just the same as all of my calls. I have never been so displeased with the vehicle sales cycle, or lack there of, at Checkered Flag BMW. One month after I placed a deposit with the other dealership (done immediately after my refund was transacted), I received an allocation. Typically I'd chalk this up to a "bad apple" or one off situation, but the continual cycle of zero communication and lack of care for the customer is a direct reflection of the management and sales staff at Checkered Flag BMW. I highly recommend any local VA resident in search of a new BMW sacrifice a two hour drive and get optimal service without concerns over your investment. read more

I scheduled my appointment for an oil change a week prior to bringing it in. I dropped my vehicle off the night before the appointment. When I filled out the form on back of the envelope it asked when would you like for your vehicle to be ready so I said by noon. I never heard any feedback from the service department giving me an update on the status of my vehicle even though I left a message inquiring about the status. Upon arrival which was around 12:30pm I found out they hadn't even pulled my vehicle in to begin the service!! Needless to say I didn't get my vehicle until 3:30pm which was just in time to fight rush- hour traffic. I made the appointment in advance so that I wouldn't have to sit at the dealership to wait but I was informed by my advisor that waiters are taken care of before drop off's. Either way if it weren't for the oil change package I purchased I would not be a repeat customer. When I went to the dealership, the car wasn't cleaned. You would think a "luxury" BMW dealership would've taken more pride in their cars...they knew I was coming. Besides not being ready, they said the car had to undergo maintenance and would be available in a few days. I was still interested in purchasing the car and followed up on the car, only to find out that it was sold a WEEK prior to my visit! They honestly could've saved us the trouble of traveling from out-of-town and wasting our valuable time. Dropped my vehicle off due to a large coolant leak that I could not find due to not having a pressure tester. They quoted me for a oil filter housing, and even sent me a video of where it was leaking from the bottom of my car. They quoted me for $3,100 for this job, I did it myself (self taught from youtube, for $300( the part cost, and finished in 6 hours (dissemble and reassemble) Red Flag #1 how many hours and what rate brought their quote to $3100?! Once the new oil filter housing was attached, the leak persisted the same exact rate, and spot. At this point I threw in the towel and took it to my indie. They diagnosed and fixed my coolant leak the same day, for $1200 parts included! The issue was not even remotely close to the oil filter housing, it was a large coolant hose that has 2 smaller ones coming off of it, the part had failed allowing coolant to leak before it went through my engine block! What this mean is BMW failed to due the bare minimum, and literally just guessed where the leak was coming from via they're own 2 eyes, as opposed to doing their due-diligence and running a proper pressure test, instead they used their money loving eyes and tried to drain me. To add to this, prior I went to the dealership regarding the head cylinder ventilation line service advisory, it was to be a free fix due to the knows defect and failure of the part leaving cars stranded. A few months prior the the advisory, I paid out of pocket to repair this part and inquired about a possible reimbursement (repair was over $800) to which they ghosted me, I followed up via call, email, and text on the business card I was given for the service advisor, just straight up ghosted me. I highly recommend avoiding this dealership and finding a reliable European only shop on VB Blvd!!! read more

I spend 3 hours waiting to pick up my car even though I told the sales person when I was coming in. Nothing was ready. I had a few frustrating calls regarding the financing after that. But service is especially frustrating. I went last year for an oil change. No loaner cars available even though my sales person assured me they would be. I scheduled a wait for it oil change. My husband still picked me up, we did some shopping, had lunch, and I still had to wait over an hour. I called today to schedule an oil change, I have to wait almost 4 weeks. Complete lack of communication at this dealership! I purchased a brand new BMW here, drove it a few miles and the check light engine came on. It has been getting "serviced" since that time. I have no idea what is going on with my car, no one will answer the phone, no one will supply updates on when I can get my car back. I have never experienced a new car buying situation such as this!! *while doing g this rating, I got a call that they lost my key, so they are going to be "kind enough" to order me another one FREE OF CHARGE" to replace the one THEY LOST! (How kind of them) and after they receive the key replacement- they will start on the repair and will be kind enough not to charge me for that either- one week and a day after they have had my new car, just driven off the show room floor, in the shop! I have no words for this place. If zero was an option, it would be what I pick...and of course, NO ONE has the number to the corporate office. I actually bought my vehicle from here and that was an experience in and of itself. I just came to write a review on the theft issue I've read from others...it's true! I had a plastic container that I leave in the door of my car FULL of change. I brought my car in for service and when I picked my car up and the container was gone. I called and told my service advisor the issue and was told someone would call me back...that never happened. I've never taken my car back there due to this incident...mind you this was pre-Covid, so it seems nothing us changed. Lesson learned that even something as small as petty change can't be left in your vehicle at a BMW dealership! SMH hold your people accountable, install cameras on them, pay your people better and MAYBE they will have more integrity and not steal from your customers' vehicles. read more
