I ended up getting a second quote that was about half the price, so I decided to go with another company for that portion of the work. This review is 3.5 stars. I brought them a lamp that belonged to my grandmother and is very special…read moreto me. I wanted the lamp re-wired and to be painted. This was done in just a few days but when I picked it up I was told that they didn't put the original pull switch back because the wiring came with a rotary switch near the plug. I was also told that he staggered the lights because it was safer for the glass globes. I told them the lamp was already staggered and this seemed like news to them. I took the lamp home but wasn't happy about not having the middle pull switch. I returned it to have them reattach it. The gentleman showed me a switch with a tiny little chain and told me that it was the original switch. I told him it wasn't because the original was longer and had a ball on the end. He produced another little chain with ball but it didn't look right. I left him to it and it was returned with what I believe is my original pull switch. However, after dropped it off the second time, I was concerned that the integrity of this lamp was being compromised. I called and shared my concerns with Celia. It was a tense conversation and I admit I wasn't pleased. The gentleman was terse with me when I picked it up the second time but I expected that. PROs: The price was reasonable. The paint job was good. They provided the extra screws I requested to hold the globes. They gave me a set of hanging hooks. CONs: He didn't seem to know what the lamp looked like when I first brought it in. Changed lamp by removing the pull switch without consulting me or asking if it was okay. Two of the sockets are askew so the bulbs don't sit centrally. Didn't know which switch was mine when I brought it back and had to provide them a picture. The lamp works and the paint job is great but I'm going to have a friend re-wire the hanging sockets to get the globes in their original staggered positions and to straighten out the sockets. I won't use J and C again but if you're very clear about what you want and document your electronics with photos before you give it to them, you'll probably be okay.

It had been installed incorrectly by our previous contractor during a remodel. It was hanging just by the electrical cord. When the contractor came to remove it a piece of the crystal bobeche broke into many pieces. We took the entire chandelier to J&C for repair and refurbishing. Jorge disassembled the entire chandelier so that it could be rewired and cleaned. He did an amazing job! This is a lost art and Jorge has the expertise and patience to do it right. It was done in about 2 weeks, in time for Christmas. Thank you Celia and Jorge for being there when we needed your services. Anyone needing lamp, or chandelier repair should look first to J&C.

From the start, their communication, transparency, and professionalism stood out. My home was built in the 1930s and still has older wiring with several complex electrical challenges. This was not a straightforward job. SD Electric took the time to thoroughly assess the situation, troubleshoot intelligently, and explain options clearly, which immediately built trust. The level of care, attention to detail, and technical skill they brought was unlike anything I've experienced before. What impressed me most was their ability to find creative, code-conscious solutions on the spot--solutions that other electricians either missed or said were not possible. They successfully ran power from the new main panel to the subpanel, which was not an easy task given the layout and constraints. They also identified smart ways to add several receptacles to support modern appliances on older circuits, all while maintaining safety and functionality. The work quality was excellent, and everything was done with intention and precision. Even the finish work was outstanding--the installs looked clean and professional, and they took great care to minimize disruption. I was amazed by how little drywall repair was needed compared to previous electricians who left large holes and damage behind. SD Electric also cleaned up thoroughly, which says a lot about their standards. Perhaps most surprising was the cost: SD Electric delivered better solutions at a fraction of the price--roughly a third of what others had quoted for less thoughtful work. The tech left and told me that the fixtures were not functioning and would need to be diagnosed with another visit. I was given a quote for 1100 dollars to fix the issue. A different company incorrectly installed my fan and it started to drop from my ceiling and cracked the dry wall around it.
