I stumbled upon Cheddar Jackson completely by accident after arriving at the wrong location and was intrigued by the name and cheese logo on the windows. It ended up being the perfect, delicious, comforting dinner I needed! My friend and I ordered and split the Billie's Holiday and the Baby Sis. I loved how many options they had for vegan and vegetarian folks and the fact that the paninis come with a side of tomato soup for dipping! The 4oz soup serving was absolutely perfect. Both paninis were grilled to perfection and packed with flavor. I enjoyed both the comforting feel of the Billie's as well as the flavorful and spicy kick to the Baby Sis. Although it is takeout only, no dine in, they have a couple of tables outside which were really nice to eat at and enjoy the food there. They definitely received a lot of takeout orders that evening and were kept busy but we still got our food in a good amount of time and the people who worked there were friendly! We ordered our food to go. We had the roast beef and cheese with crab soup. The food was delicious. The soup had a nice amount of white crab meat with a rich flavorful taste. The paninis were a little greasy but that's to be expected with all of the cheese. I loved the packaging of the food (wrapped in vintage newspaper wrap). Overall we were impressed. Great sandwiches (I have tried two different ones on two separate occasions, both really good), great soup both times, cookies are delicious and taste fresh, and not to be outdone Mexican Coke! By far the best of all the Cokes! The two star loss comes from making the mistake of going inside to wait for order to be done. I'm not sure who these guys are, same staff both times, but they treated me like I was in the wrong spot or I was that guy coming in 2 minutes before closing. Both visits were at lunch time and they didn't seem super busy but the staff was cold and aloof. Got me thinking maybe I'm the wrong color or something, no clue. I was excited to go in, love trying new spots and was working on same block. Won't be going back now after the second cold shoulder, wished I hadn't gone inside to wait. We have had Cheddar Jackson on our go to list for quite a while and were finally able to make it today. I'm so glad we didn't wait longer and can't wait to come back! My husband got the Brooklyn with pepperoni and I got the Baby Sis with pimento cheese, pickled jalapeño peppers, and tomatoes. Both of them were so delicious! There are so many others I want to try. Another thing that we love is that they carry a number of Richmond or Virginia made items for their drinks and chips. I love Ninja Kombucha and was thrilled it was offered here! We moved to Virginia about 2 1/2 years ago from Georgia and we have been impressed with the food scene in Virginia and the quality of the products they have here. In these times of quarantine, it's the little things that mean a lot. We have been hearing about this spot for a while and decided we would pick up some food on Friday. We started counting down the days on Monday. Grill Cheese Friday finally came and I ordered on line to pick up. It was not disappointing, in fact it was awesome! BIG shout out to Alyssa (sp?) at Cheddar Jackson. My boss wanted to order from them based on my superlatives. (One week, when the rest of the family was gone, I ordered from them 7 days in a row. It was that good!) Well, sadly, they were going to be closed on the day my boss wanted lunch for her board meeting. They had the 2nd street festival the next day, and they were making hundreds of bagged goodies. I told Alyssa I was disappointed, and you know what she did? She came in EARLY, made the order, had it delivered, and included cookies. I LOVE this place!!! Look for Jessee's Mom when it comes back on the menu (there's a current shortage of fig jam, so it's not on there right now). It's brie, apples, fig jam, and general deliciousness on a wonderfully toasted sammie. Likewise, Smoky Ghost is amazing with a hint of smoke and heat (I usually have them add the tomatillo pepper spread as well--makes a little MORE heat!) The Duval sisters with (GASP) BACON JAM??? Grilled cheese at its finest! And the little cuppa soup for dipping your grilled cheese? So tasty and just right for dipping your entire grilled cheese. Don't look at it as a "cup of soup" you would have for lunch. It really is more like a dip. My son is a huge fan of the Thai chili turkey. I've also had it. It's amazing. About 2 SECONDS after i realize it's the wrong one, I get a call from the woman owner. She calls and says she wants to come and deliver me the right sandwich, free of charge. only giving a one star because of lack of communication. this place is really nice spot that serves great food but I cannot stand their online ordering service not being updated. just today I had tried to order a sandwich for pick up now when I got there, they told me that they don't open till 12 mind you on their online service website it says that you could order at 11:30. Also remind you that this is not the first time that this has happened to me where I have tried to order something and I get there and they tell me that they're not open and they don't know why that they're online service is showing that they are open. I swear I really do love the food that they have here. However, I feel like the reviews are gonna get low because of the issues that they have with their online services.
