Was quickly greeted by my server who brought me water and a warm croissant with honey drizzled on it. Better than the regular bread you get at a lot of places. Just get the onion rings to start...it'll ruin most other onion rings for you and you have to wait a minute for them but they are just amazing. Was really disappointed last night stopping in here for a late dinner. Long day and was wanting something fairly light. When I walked in (of course it's 9 pm) no one was at the welcome desk. I checked and they are open till 10 pm. I didn't wait long but still worth mentioning. I was taken to a booth in the bar area as I just wanted to relax, watch the baseball game, grab a quick bit and then head to hotel. (Note: the area was also not the cleanest. I nearly walked out). Waited nearly 5 min to be acknowledged and get a drink order. Just wanted water. I asked the server for lite options and she was quick to point out the lighter section of the menu. She also suggested specially drinks and appetizers. (Didn't I say I wanted something lite). I selected a pick 2 lunch deal with a half wrap and soup. She offers to bring soup out first so I took it. The next few interactions were awkward. When she brought out the soup it was spilling over the bowl and on a server tray that was less than clean by any standards. She places the bowl in front of me and looks at me and asked me if it looks OK, looking straight at me for a response. She turned around to take care of the table behind me, came back after I took a sip of my soup and then looked at me and asked me if it tasted OK, again looking straight at me for a response. I sort of felt like I was being put on the spot for some reason. She then brought out my buffalo wrap, which came out quickly. And she did the same thing again. Sat it down and asked me if it looked OK, staring at me for a response. I just said yes, because at this point I just Ed to be left alone. She came back quickly after I took a bite and also ask how does it taste, and stood there and waited for a response. The whole interaction with my waitress just seemed very strange and uncomfortable for me, and I'm a very out going person. The food was decent therefore the 2 star rating. Presentation of food could have been better. This is the 3rd in the past few weeks where I ate a late dinner and had poor service. My thoughts are when the establishment is open for business, the same service should exist when they first open till they close for the night. I also seen service come out and grab a few bites of food from a table then take off back to work. Why can't these employees have a set time to take a real break and eat instead of eating on the run with other patrons. I just feel this is treating your employees well. Anyway, off my soap box. Findlay Ohio location. I ordered a 12oz steak that came out to me with about 4 oz of meat and 8 oz of pure fat. I calmly waited for the server to return. I asked for a different steak due to the poor quality. She snapped and said "what do u want me to do about it, call corporate"?. I explained why I wanted to return my steak and she huffed and walked away. She came back and i asked to speak to the manager. Manager came out and asked if there was a problem. his response was we don't even offer 12 oz steak even though it was clearly on the menu. We had a nice lunch here on Sunday. We drove up to Findlay and met my wife's Mother and her Husband. Our Brother and Sister in Law (Bruce & Brenda) also made the drive. I called Cheddar's last week to try and make a reservation, but the woman I talked to said they did not take them. The Yelp page says they do take reservations, so that did not help. I told her we were going to be a party of 6 and we would like to meet up there at 1:00pm. She responded saying that would not be a problem. When we arrived, the place was packed. We were told the wait time would be 20-30 minutes. After close to 20 minutes, were were seated. Our waitress was great. She was prompt, she checked on us multiple times and made sure we had a pleasant experience. The food here is good, but not great. I ordered the 8oz Steak, my wife went with a Buffalo Chicken Wrap. Her Mom ordered the grilled Salmon and her Husband asked for the Tilapia. Bruce & Brenda each ordered a burger. The Steak was chewy, but cooked to medium rare. First time visit for my wife and I - not a good experience. Ordered an appetizer, it was never received. The waitress acted like she was doing me a favor to remove it from our bill..should I pay for something I did not receive? One of my wifes sides was broccoli, which was not received with her meal, we were told it was "on the way"...again, it was never received. I asked our waitress to remove it from our bill, but she told us the entree was still full price no matter if you requested any sides or not. Our waitress was clearly annoyed with us, even though we did nothing wrong, I was polite through all of this, never raised my voice or got nasty, etc. On a positive note, the food we did receive was good. The food this evening was decent. The Dijon chicken was well prepared and moist. The sirloin steak was overdone from what was requested. Requested medium rare and it was closer to medium/medium-well. The salads we ordered, House and Caesar, were both well put together. Some of the concerns was overall quality of cleanliness. We witnessed a waitress carrying recently washed glasses back to the bar with them leaning on her body. Her shirt was clearly dirty and her top unbuttoned so some of the glasses were on her skin. The top was held by her chin which I am sure was dirty with sweat. Another issue at the bar was they were pouring drinks and making jokes as to how they were using extra ice to fix drinks they accidentally made medium when the customer ordered large. The manager even made a joke about using extra ice to increase the size. Our waitress was having a rough night. She had some patrons she must have known well who as she greeted us untied her apron. This startled her and she said a few choice words. Not horrible yet unprofessional. The she dropped her tray of drinks everywhere. She was very kind yet was defiantly having an off night. The issue with the spillage of drinks was no one rushed over the help her. The rest of the staff just kinda left her standing there with a puddle of drinks at her feet. The only reason I'm giving this three stars instead of one is due to our waiter and the food being delicious. We came in at 6 on a Saturday knowing we were going to wait. They didn't take reservations, and we had a party of nine so we were fine waiting. They told us it would be 1.5 hours, but we were finally seated 2 hours and 15 minutes later. They kept making excuses. We watched group after group getting seated before us. They never once asked if they could get us anything while we waited. We finally were seated and our waiter was very attentive and quick! The food was delicious, fresh, and came with large portions. I will say, the macaroni and cheese was sub-par, though. I told the waiter I need gluten free due to severe celiac disease yet my salad still had croutons after stating no to wanting them. I did not realize my clock was a few minutes fast so I got out and went to the door to find it locked. Any other day is have waited and not cared. But it's a -14 wind chill with a temp of 10 degrees. They serve homey food, which was just right the cold day we went. We started off with their Cheesy Spinich Dip... OMG it was SO GOOD! I was in Ohio this weekend and was out running around with my husband and my in laws. We stopped here for lunch. Started out with the chicken Quesadilla. They were very good, they even had bacon in them! I had the Hawaiian chicken salad. I thought it was OK, the chicken seemed like Tyson short cuts and there wasn't much chicken in the salad. I sampled the buffalo chicken wrap and the club sandwich. Both sandwiches were better than my lunch! My favorite was the buffalo chicken wrap. Service was fast and friendly. The place was packed around 2:00 in the afternoon! Cheddar's reminds me of Applebee's but better. Their drink menu is very impressive and very reasonable. Not a bad place. Very similar to Applebees but I think they ave more variety on their menu. They have good value for their food and portion size. They have a Monte Cristo which initially sounds good but it is not. I was sucked into wanting to try this out. It is a little to deep fried for my taste. My wife and I thought about trying this a few months ago when we stopped at another Cheddars in WV, but decided not too. We thought it looked good when we saw a person beside us order it. I love Cheddar's. Cheddar's has a very inviting atmosphere, quite a few good servers, and a menu that'll please just about anybody. I don't think I've ever came here without getting the spinach dip, that stuff is divine. The most impressive part for me, however, is the "veggie plate". Basically, the veggie plate is a salad or soup(avoid the soups if you're vegetarian), any 4 of their side dishes, and a croissant. This was EXACTLY what I wanted, a highly customizable vegetarian dish. Most restaurants of this ilk have a veggie burger or something similar, and not much else.
