Service was Great! The 14 oz Ribeye steak as described on the Menu as Juicy and delicious was a Commercial grade beef which is a low grade standard steak was tough and poorly seasoned! Although I do believe in tipping well, I do not appreciate the suggested gratuity which is calculated after tax is obviously wrong! The 22% gratuity that was calculated on the ticket was $7.55 which should have been $6.02. Something is very wrong here and need to be corrected! It also should have been calculated before tax. Met with my cousin here today for a late lunch and we were both very unimpressed by the service. The food was amazing and deserves five starts, but the service was barely two stars. I arrived after my cousin and so I was given a few moments to look over the menu. I asked about the end time for lunch and was told by Norma, out server, that they serve lunch all day. I decided to get their salmon bourbon glazed with green beans and broccoli as my sides. It didn't take too long to come out and after that Norma was nowhere to be found at our table. She never checked on us, refilled our waters, and was just non existent. In the meantime our food was pretty good. My salmon and the sides were warm and filling. I ended up taking a little less than half home, which will be dinner later. When we did finally see Norma again it was to bring us the check. While receiving the check we asked if we could get an order of their crossiants to go. She said that she would bring them out to us, but she never did. She did quickly collect the check and disappear again. The next time we saw Norma she was sitting down and chatting it up with a couple on their phones. When we finally caught her eye and motioned for her to come help us she gave us the one finger up to wait. We waited another few minutes and Norma finally came over. We asked her about the croissants and she told us that her brain was super foggy today and she just couldnt remember them--really?!? Norma told us she would bring them to us and we finally got them. We paid that check and left. My cousin and I both agreed that the service we received was super bad. We felt ignored and unwanted. Sadly I was so hungry I forgot to take pictures of the food but hopefully you will take my word and get the SPINACH DIP! Even if you are like me and don't care for spinach. Try it! The meatloaf and chicken fried steak were not liked at the table. I had the chicken fried steak and it had pretty much a full inch of nothing but breading. The meat inside was just a gray shriveled piece of something that resembled meat. The booths and dishes seemed pretty dingey. Unfortunately this location in Firewheel only gave us about half to 3/4th size the number of onion rings we usually get and I have no idea why seeing how the cost went up from $5.29-to $7 now! Our croissants were delicious. But our apps took forever to reach our table ( more than 20 minutes). They did appear to be slammed and backed up so I was fine waiting for them. And we completely finished our apps before we finally were able to order, meaning another 30 minutes before we got our food. I don't understand, he should have taken our order before giving us the apps or taken our order as he delivered the apps. There was so much sitting around it definitely was no fun celebrating a birthday there. I wanted to write this review specifically for food though. DO NOT ORDER THE Grilled Chicken Alfredo ($10.50). Oh, and even if it was good, they gave me about 1/4 of what i would have needed for the pasta pieces, as in- yes, there were literally pieces of pasta that had NO SAUCE on it. Friendly tip: Do not come to this place for your birthday dinner. I have spent several birthday dinners at Cheddar's; my own and family members. For the first time this year, I was given two tiny ass stale cookies as my "free birthday dessert." I truly thought the waitress was playing a joke on me until the manager came over and told me "No, that's been our policy for 5 years." Which is complete crap seeing as how I was just there this past January for a family member's birthday and that was not the policy then. A company who made the decision to implement a live fish tank in the restaurant should budget to maintain it properly. It's extremely unfortunate to continuously watch the same fish suffer with a parasite, week after week from malnutrition. Absolutely disgusted by this behavior and lack of empathy. We requested to take on the responsibility of relocating this fish to a facility who could reverse the negligence it has previously encountered but was denied the opportunity and were told it was the hostess job to "feed the fish". In a time where good service is hard to find, My family and I were pleasantly impressed. The restaurant is clean and well maintained. We were seated at a table but preferred a booth. I asked our waiter, Marvion B., and he promptly got us an open booth. The food is good, and served hot and is delicious. Marvion is an awesome waiter. No matter how good the food is or isn't, the waiter/ waitress is what often makes or breaks the experience. I just can't say enough positive things about Marvion's work ethic, professionalism, Attentiveness and general attitude. We had a family of 10 coming from 3 different directions, Austin, Plano & Greenville. They don't allow reservations but I had called ahead to give them a heads up since we had a large party & I knew they would be busy on a Saturday at that time. They had us a table set up off by ourselves that allowed us to visit, everyone at the table ordered something different & the food was delicious. 5/25/19 is when we came to this location after my daughter graduation. The only good thing about this was our wait time to get a table, was fast. Other than that not good. Our drinks, well that's different took over 5 min to get our drinks. We did have a party of 11 but it wasn't like we had a long list of different drinks. Water was a key one. Our food, it was some time which was okie due to being a little busy nothing crazy. Some of our foods were dry which I returned one and told them I didn't want anything else. I guess I came in at the wrong time‍. Walked in at 3:05pm and no one was at the hostess stand. I made a quick stop in the restroom. After my pit stop, I joined 3 others at the bar, just as a male employee was leaving the bar area. About 3 minutes later a female employee answered a call and proceeded to take a phone order. 3 ladies walked in for a to go order but were told by multiple employees that they need to speak with the lady on the phone. I asked another employee for a menu but I guess she didn't hear me. A customer got me one from the hostess stand . Finally, another employee came over at 3:19 and took my order. At 3:24 the bar attendant completed the call in order and the lady who took my order updated her. WOW! I already have my receipt. Guess next time I'll walk in and ask for a receipt if I want fast service. I'll update about the food if I get it any time today. Its your standard American fare restaurant. Large selection of entrees from burgers,chicken, or seafood. Clean facility and employees have been trained well. Everything you would expect from a chain restuarant. My favorite thing about Cheddars though has got to be the croissant and the side dishes. I had the grilled tilapia which was cooked nicely but the green beans and broccoli casserole really did it for me.. broccoli casserole was really cheesy and satisfying. Having late dinner last night here at Cheddar's. My wife ordered the 6 oz. and I ordered their 8 oz sirloin steak. They said, when your in Texas you need to take a shot on their "not frozen" steak! Steak is tender and juicy. It was marinated, made from scratch. That's what this restaurant is noted for ("Scratched Kitchen") comfort food being made from scratch. Freshly grilled, medium well done sirloin steak. I chose their seasoned rice and fries. Friendly server and moderately quiet with piped-in country music. Separate Men and Women's moderately clean bathroom. Need to fix the leak in one of the two urinals. Slippery when you get in. Properly decorated restaurant in joyful ambiance mood. read more

Two stars because the Salmon was decent and the drink had a good presentation. Everything else was horrendous. The server didn't know what she was doing, she took our order and was real slow on it. When I say slow, I mean really slow (she was probably high off her mind). After she took our order, she disappeared nowhere to be seen for 15 minutes. Our waters and soda were left unfilled nearly the whole time, and we were required to ask the gentleman next to the host to assist us. Once our food has arrived, it looked nowhere close to what we saw on the images. (False advertising pictures on the menu). The waitress then leaves again without refilling our drinks and taking away our appetizer dishes/finished drink cups. With all these dirty dishes now taking up our space, it now makes it harder to eat our unappetizing looking entrees. Now to the food. One of my friend ordered steak with chicken tenders. The steak was stiff as rocks, nearly impossible to cut through and the chicken tenders was pure batter (dry food). My other friend who ordered chicken tenders was green bean did not enjoy his meal either. The green bean was compared to the taste of canned vegetables. My brother ordered wraps which was subpar and try. Ooh which also reminds me, we didn't get our honey mustard and ranch for the chicken tenders/wrap until we were finished with our food...... And the waitress thinks she can make up for it but bringing us 4. We're not going to eat sauce by itself. Lastly, mines was the salmon. The taste was there but presentation was horrid, but guess I can't expect too much from a restaurant who doesn't sell itself for presentation. Word of advice to the store. Your service needs to get better, probably start by weeding out the employees who are probably doing substances before/during work. Word of advice for those who visit. You'd probably wouldn't wanna come until they do something about their service. A restaurant has to either have good service or good food, however, one can't be bad on both. read more

Sorry this post is long but here's what happened to me at Cheddars located @ 5445 N President George Bush Hwy, Garland, TX 75044 on March 20, 2021. Me and my little family went to this Cheddars on yesterday at 8:43p. We were told there was a 1 hour wait. We were cool with it, put our name on the wait list and gave the hostess our phone number. We decided to go next door to Target to kill some time. We weren't in there too long. We made it back to Cheddars around 9:18p. I parked my car in front, backed up, so I can see the front door. At this point they have 1 hostess sitting outside with a clip board and I'm wondering how their system is working because it doesn't add up, to me. Around 9:28p, my husband goes to check and see where we are on the list. He speaks with the hostess outside first and then I see him walk inside. He comes out around 9:33p and tells me there are 6 parties in head of us and it will be 20 minutes from now. We've waited this long so we decide to continue the wait. As we're sitting in the car, I'm noticing several people walking out. I'm talking huge parties of people. I notice a lot of black people standing outside. There were a few white people that walked up and talked to the hostess and then went inside but never came back out. I'm thinking they must already be on the list so I brush it off. As we're waiting I'm starting to notice that the majority of the white people are staying in and not coming out but several black people are standing outside waiting. The time is now 10:03p and I decided to go see what was going on. I'm expecting to see several white people standing around waiting for a table but NOPE! I saw one white woman and her daughter waiting to talk to the hostess. When the hostess got off the phone she asked the woman, "how many are in your party?" and the woman answered, "it's just me, her, and my husband...her dad," The hostess said, "oh! I can seat you now." I immediately stopped her and said, "how are you going to seat them when you have people who have been waiting over 1 hour and she just walks in here and don't have to wait?" The hostess said, "she's on the list." I told her "she's not on the list because if she were you wouldn't have asked how many are in the party, cause that information is given when you get on the list." Now she's looking all dumb at me. I grab the list and I'm looking at it. I see names, phone numbers and some notes to the side... description notes of the parties. I said "how the fuck you gonna seat them when my family has been waiting for over 1 hour?" She gonna tell me, "I can seat you now." I called my husband and told them to come inside. As soon as we got seated I asked to speak with the manager. I explain to him what happened and honestly y'all, I did not explode like I normally would have but I did mindfully select a few curse words to express my concerns. There were so many unoccupied tables in there, that were still socially distant. I'm telling the manager there are black people on the list waiting for no reason because there are tables available. I'm telling him the hostess is immediately sitting white people and making black people wait. I don't know what was said or done to the hostess but I got the DM information. I will be calling him Monday. I've been to this location several times and never have experienced racism until last night. I don't know if it was just the hostess doing or if she was told to do it. What I do know is that I'm not giving them my money! My family and I left, without ordering. I will NEVER GO BACK! This is only the beginning of my rant! read more

Decided to try something new since I'm new to the area and what a welcome I received. My food and drinks were great but the dining experience was horrible. I was told I would have a wait which I was ok with another light skinned lady came and sat me down right after I was told I had to wait. I sat down and my shoes are now dirty because of the food that was left from the last person. My server came got my drinks and food but when it was time to go everyone was cleaning as I was trying to eat, so disrespectful and unprofessional being the manager was not far enough to notice everyone cleaning as I'm dining in at 10:36pm. Came here for a quick work lunch and liked it enough. They have a good menu but I'm trying to watch what I eat so I ended up with a Cesar salad and chicken noodle soup. The soup is good but they make it great by adding fried chicken skin on top (there goes the diet!!). The Cesar salad comes with a croissant that is topped with some sort of sweet sauce (it sounds weird but its delicious). The food that was coming out smelled great and I was so tempted to order something else. I love that their iced teas are unsweetened (the peach is yummy). This review is simply based on my experience with the hostess, the food was good except for the cold spinach dip but I'll get to that. I called ahead to ask what the wait for two would be and they told me there was not a wait at the moment. So I arrive and the hostess tells us that it will be a 20 minute wait. I was okay with that because the location closer to me was on a 1.5 hour wait. So the lady took my number down and repeated it to me to ensure she had it right. She then told me to wait in my car and I would receive a text message when our table was ready. I did just as I was told. After 20 minutes without a text I started to notice that people who were just pulling up and walking in were not coming back out to wait. I called just to make sure we didn't miss our turn and the young lady informed me that they were cleaning off our table and would be getting a text shortly. After 5 minutes I decided to go in and a family of three that walked in before us were immediately sat. The farther even asked the hostess is there not a wait and the hostess said no. So when I explained to the hostess how none of this made sense that we were waiting and other people were being sat she then lied and said that she had texted me and that I did not respond so they continued down the list. That's when I became upset because that was a blatant lie. So she tried to seat us by the kitchen where people would be walking back and forth I informed her that was not going to be a suitable location and she begrudgingly sat us at a more appropriate table. I asked to speak with the manager who came out and apologized for the situation but did not offer us anything to compensate for the inconvenience. Our waiter & waitress were nice they were very attentive. The food was good, we ordered spinach dip as an appetizer (which was cold). Had to eat yummy lunch at cheddars they never disappoint at this location. Tiki Hubby and I sit at bar and share the buffalo chicken wrap. You can get with either grilled or batter fried chicken both are delicious. Covered in Buffalo sauce wrapped in a large tomato tortilla with coleslaw and dill pickles and ranch dressing. Disappointed! I called in a pick up order on my way home from work last night. I ordered 3 chicken Cesar Salads and specifically asked for the whole chicken breast on top to be sliced (not shredded) this is how they used to make it. Needless to say when I got home and opened my salads to find they were shredded. You make a special request and it is not honored. I paid for this food and would like it how I ask for it. There was barely any pasta in it and few croutons. Are we in a recession?? UPDATE: I called the store today spoke with Ethan the manager and explained what had happened he was very gracious and apologetic. Ethan has told me they are to go over the order with their customers to make sure everything is correct. Ethan made it right. I went back to Cheddars and got 3 new salads made exactly to my request. I decided not to complain. When you have a new waitstaff, key things to remember: keep the water glass full and check on your customers more often. Our food was okay. But, the service will always be much more important than the food. If you stick a new person with customers, might be a good idea to stick a seasoned employee with them.
