The food is really good and the prices are very reasonable but the service is seriously lacking. My party of four sat down and didn't see our waitress for almost 10 minutes. After we got our drinks and appetizers the waitress asked us if we needed to go boxes and we hadn't ordered our entries. She was embarrassed and apologized for the oversight but still it was awkward. The food and atmosphere is great: casual but a class-step above the typical food chain. I enjoyed the combination plate options: steak & ribs ? Yes, please. Other choices included steak & shrimp, ribs & shrimp, etc. I was tempted to try the fried-chicken steak (it's fried steak, actually) but I had to have some ribs. They were very good. Throw in a number of options for sides (fries, veggies, etc) and you have a nice dinner ahead of you. I'm taking stars off because despite the friendly service there needs to be improved communication between the servers and the kitchen. Good prices drinks + Good food= Cheddars Every time I've been the service has been great. Sometimes during busy nights you might have to wait a bit but they're reasonably priced and great food so it's worth the wait. My favorite food would be ribs with broccoli cheese casserole and carrots. With a Maui margarita to sip on...or 2! This was my first time at a Cheddars and it was nice. Went with my parents and wife, we all ate and got a drink with apps for about $100 before tip. Prices weren't bad, and the food was great. The only complaint was that they said "ask about local beer" on their menu, but had none. This Cheddars is always hit or miss for us. The last couple of times have been "misses" so it's been a few months since we've stopped in. Service is almost always slow. We usually get the queso appetizer, and for a while they were putting in the smaller salsa dish and it wasn't even all the way filled. My family and I were in this establishment on Saturday, 2/9, late afternoon. We were treated very rudely by a server, Lauren(lorin). She had no concern for her manager ( I believe Alfredo), as she continued to be rude in his presence, pushed him and my sister. I asked for a GM. They said there was not one. Then an acting GM came out and promised she would contact the Director who was on vacation with his family and I would be contacted by Tuesday, 2/12. We were there celebrating my father's 80th birthday. We had 10 people in our party. We opted for 2 booths so that we did not have to wait 45 minutes for a large table. Lauren walked all of us over to 1 booth. Yelled that if that would not work, we can wait longer. We had to leave there and take this 80 year old somewhere else. We came from out of town. Well me and my crew drove all the way from McComb, MS to check out this place! We were all fired up to get here. No pee breaks were allowed, unless you hung it out the window. The pretty good for the price, but I'd rather pay more and get some decent service. The service overall sucked. We were seated in the bar section at a dirty table without enough chairs. I had to take a chair from the bar to my table. It was at least 10 minutes before someone finally came over to clean up the table and take our drink orders. Our waitress was really unenthusiastic and was just an "order taker". Se didn't do anything to help improve our experience. When our food came, some things were missing, but the food tasted pretty good. The server though was really slow at refilling drinks and bringing things that we asked for. This was one of the best restaurants that I had been to in a long time. I went there on a date after my parents suggested it to me. The overall atmosphere was simply stunning. I couldn't believe the way that it looked. It was about a 15-20 minute wait, which was what the host told us it would be. After all, it was a Saturday night and jam packed with business. But the host was spot on with the time, and we were seated in a decent amount of time. Never having been there, I had asked for the Server's recommendation on some of the food. She offered a few suggestions, but I ultimately decided on something different. Her suggestions were good, but I ended up getting my mind stuck on something. Our glasses were refilled before they were even half empty, which was amazing. And our food didn't take long to come out at all. The Chicken fried steak was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The corn was sweet but not too sweet. The mashed potatoes were just amazing. The bread could have been toasted a little longer, but that isn't even all that bad. The server was friendly with our check as well, even asking if it was together or separate, and offering up a dessert for us. We were too full for that, so we just got our check. She was even very helpful in offering some information on how to apply to be a server there. I love coming to Cheddars from Raleigh and I've never been disappointed, until now. Got here about 1040am and since it was early I was about the only customer. I didn't get so much as a drink order until about 1050am. There's no excuse for servers not being ready to work as soon as the doors open. And now I hear a bunch of carrying on in the kitchen. In a word, horrible. We left prior to ordering our meal. On a positive note, we were seated immediately. It was all down hill after that. It took 20 minutes for anyone to acknowledge our presence. We placed our drink order, and it took 15 more minutes for my guest to get his beer. We waited 10 more minutes for my martini, but it was never delivered. We dropped a $5 on the table and left. Nobody questioned us. We were seated in the bar area and there were employees standing around, chatting, laughing, and ignoring their customers, and they were not busy! I saw the frustration on the faces of other customers too. Sad. I've been to a Cheddars in Virginia (I think) and it was very good. I was very disappointed to say the least. If I could rate separately for service, it would be 5 stars!!!!! The food, on the other hand, was severely lacking tonight, and it wasn't even busy. Our steaks had to be corrected, we got a grilled cheese burnt side down, Texas toast that was hard (somehow not burnt though?), and a charred Country Fried Steak. We have been eating at Cheddar's for a decade now (not this particular one, but others as well) and never had an experience like this. Hopefully next time will be better. I've been there about 3 times since they opened. Aside from the wait (like EVERY new restaurant that comes to Greenville), everything was wonderful. The first time I'd gone to Cheddars, we sat at the bar and ate. It was terribly crowded, which made it a bit uncomfortable, but the service was attentive, although you could tell they were extremely busy; we were there during lunch. The food was excellent; I had the grilled fish tacos and my friend had the Hawaiian salad. The drinks were wonderful as well. The second two times I went was with a small group of people, so we actually waited to sit at a table. The first of those two times, the wait was quite long, but not so long that I'd consider leaving. I hadn't been at night before, so I didn't notice the decor as much, but at night the place looks really nice, especially for a chain. Our group was seated and the waiter we had that night was awesome. He was able to make recommendations and was very friendly. If I remembered his name I'd shout him out. Our food came to us promptly and well-prepared. Portion sizes there are huge, I've never been able to finish my entire meal. I also agree with a previous reviewer who stated the food could be a little over salted. For example, I LOVE their onion rings, but there's always just a bit to much salt in the batter. Overall my experiences there were good enough to recommend the place to friends/family. The prices are great (I paid about $30 total for meals, drinks and appetizers for 3 people), the food is awesome and the service is wonderful. read more

It's so obvious their stuff didn't get enough training time( or they just don't care since they are just bunch of college kids). This WAS our favorite restaurant. Last week we went on a Sunday night, before 5pm. We were there 2 entire hours and had to get our food to go! We ordered drinks and crissants. We didn't get our crissants for over an hour! It wasn't busy. One person in our party, had to leave. She had 1 1/2 hours for dinner, but had to leave empty handed. I spoke to manager, Jessie, then the food came. One steak over cooked. One steak wrong size and tough. Fries and broccoli casserole cold. My daughter had a meeting at 7, so had to take everything to go! They comped our meal, but we got billed for drinks. What else could we do while waiting? Party of 6, charged for 7 drinks. They should have sent extra food with us, and dessert. It was ridiculous. Will not go back. Oh... And we were celebrating our 23rd wedding anniversary! Cheddar's......wish it was bettah! :( I am not a fan of chains. I had a client who called in their lunch to this restaurant for me to pick up. I went in, granted it was around noon so the heat of the lunch rush. There were at least 20 people waiting in a crowd in the waiting area. I went to the host stand to find out where to pick up take-out and no one greeted me. I moved through the crowd into the bar and the bartenders (2) ignored me. I finally said loudly, "Hello! I need to pick up an order please, can someone help me?" The bartender actually rolled her eyes at me. WTF?! I told a server who walked by that I needed to pick up a to go order and asked if they could check in the back to see if it was ready. no luck there either. Keep in mind, if this had nothing to do with my work or a client for work, I would have gone off on these crazies and walked out but for some reason, the office I was calling on really wanted Cheddar's! UGHH!! After watching the bartenders run around with their heads cut off, answering phone calls and putting people on hold, only to never get back to them, they finally brought me my order. They didn't check to see if it was all there, they didn't give me plastic utencils or the drinks I ordered until I asked an additional three times, after I paid. This experience is one I will not repeat. Someone at the office I brought the food to said they were new and are just too busy for their britches. No excuse! Give me a smile....seriously, or at least acknowledge me when I come in. Geez!!! I ordered the Chicken Caesar pasta salad which was weirdly limp and warm....no doubt this was because it sat in the back under a heat lamp while no one got it out for me to take back. The person on the phone said we were able to come in and eat, but when the party got to the restaurant there seemed to be a problem. To get to the point, the food is great. My family of 5 can eat for less that $50 and take home leftovers. I've never had a bad experience with the food. Except......... We tipped cash and slashed out the tip line. When it posted on my account, the waitress gave herself and nice little tip. I called the next day and the manager said she would take care of it. I waited...... Nothing. I called back a week later this lady says "if she said she would handle it, then she will handle it" that sometimes they have a lot of tickets and they mistakenly mix up tips. After enjoying Cheddar's in Dallas we thought this would be a good place for Graduation Lunch. Arrived at 12:45, seated immediately, got drinks right away and ordered. Appetizers good and timely. After 1 hour and 10 minutes and no food we had to leave for graduation. That meant that none of us had any real food all day including my diabetic husband. The food was not that great though. I ordered the steak & ribs with broccoli cheese casserole & the fruit & yogurt medley for my sides. The steak tasted good but they almost left it on too long. The ribs were just ok, they weren't real flavorful & tasted kind of greasy. Broccoli cheese casserole was mediocre, I was expecting it to be pretty good because it's easy to make but the texture was too mushy for me. Fruit medley was the best thing I had. The fruit seemed fresh & the yogurt was vanilla with cinnamon or something. Overall, the experience wasn't bad but the food left a lot to be desired. The ambience seems high class, yet it's a casual restaurant with a lot of food choices for good prices... Oh, and they taste good too. I've had the Buffalo chicken wrapper, the lemon pepper catfish, the veggie plate, cheese fries, onion rings, and several other dishes I can't remember (as I tend to stick to what I like after a few different tries). The only thing I didn't really like were the onion rings, but they're presented beautifully so they look delicious. I typically go here when I'm running low on cash but still want a decent meal. The second visit was about the same as the first with regards to service. We arranged our party 3 weeks in advance. Waited 45 minutes and then they wanted to break up our party into 4 booths, when there was an area in the restaurant that could have accommodated our group quite a bit better. Once again everyone around me got there drinks and mine came quite a bit later, same drink I ordered the first time. We ordered the onion rings that were cold, which we waited for an inordinate amount of time for. I ordered the Key Lime Chicken and Shrimp. The chicken was blackened, not good, the shrimp (3 in total) were rubbery. I will say they got the broccoli just right. I got up to use the restroom, came back and my drink had been taken off the table with at least half still in the glass. When I told the waitress, she said she thought I was done. I will definitely think again before going there in the very near future. I will wait until they get their act together when it comes especially to service. read more

This restaurant used to be so good. A nice cheap local place to eat. As of recently this restaurant has gone downhill. The wait is extraneous. It takes 30 minutes to get your drink a hour to actually recieve a meal and dont even think about bringing a large party. The results are disastrous. Numerous check mistakes, long wait times for meals, drinks and checks, meal mix-ups, and money paid being mishandled. Don't get me started on the slight changes to menu items. They've changed the sauce on the 'Better than Mom's' meatloaf that was suppose to be a sweet barbecue sauce but was a sour mess on top of salty meatloaf. I would have been okay with just regular ketchup honestly. Better than mom's meatloaf I think not. read more

If you are not from Greenville, Don't go to Cheddar's at night. My husband went there one late night, when he was done, he left and was sitting in his car getting ready to leave. A man approached the car and my kind hearted husband opened the window. This man, who worked there, preceded to verbally harass my husband and tried to assault him. Some waitress thought because my husband told her to have a good night and liked her mustang, it was an invitation to solicit her. I guess her parents never taught her how to be nice to someone just because. My husband got out of there quickly. He did not call the cops which I feel he should have. DONT GO THERE AT NIGHT. But the food was great and everyone else except for the one waitress (she and management know who she is) and the worker who verbally and almost physically assaulted my husband were good too. Service is horrible. Origially ordered ribs but 15 minutes after order was placed was told it would take an hour and a half. Ordered a rib eye that came out luke warm with cold sides. Manager offered to REHEAT. 2 hours later, waiting for fresh food. Finally comes out, order still wrong....missing side order of fried shrimp and added a side of grilled shrimp. Keep the grill shrimp, eat the steak that's warm enough to eat and for the fried shrimp that I actually ordered..my cousin got those so oh well. Had 6 other people in my party, all had the same problem. One didn't even receive their order the first time food came out. Oh yeah, took an hour to get a salad before any of the food problems even began. 3 and half hours later, we are leaving after receiving to go drinks with no lids because, guess what.... they ran out...smfh read more
