On Sunday March 31, 2019 around 2:12 pm, our server was Nate Votta the GM for Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen. Nate was the 1st manager to help out in waiting tables and bussing tables with a smile on his face. He went above and beyond guest services, to make sure that our table didn't need or want for anything. If there was award for Super Service it needed to be presented to Nate for his excellent quality of service. My two sons' and I enjoy eating at Cheddars for brunch. Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen serves made-from-scratch entrees every day. They have the best hand-battered Chicken strips, Scratch Burgers, and Homemade French fries. The Snippy waitress with an attitude didn't even attempt to correct the 2nd round of raw bread. No wonder they are trying to give it away free with the meal. Worst experience ever at a Cheddars. We moved to East Tennessee about 18 months ago and we had seen Cheddars, but never tried it until today. Let's just say we've missed out on 18 months' worth of good food, good atmosphere, good serving and good times! The interior atmosphere is very upscale with attention to detail. I loved the huge aquarium in the sunroom dining area. Our server was Tyler S. and he was an absolute server. He was knowledgable, courteous, helpful, attentive and engaging. He listened to our desires, made suggestions and then served us as if we were his only customers of the day (and the restaurant was packed). The food was extremely tasty and value for dollar spent was amazing. Our entire bill for two lunches, plus a take-out dinner for latter tonight was under $40. We have a Cheddars that is closer to us, but because of Tyler S., we would be willing to drive the 15 extra miles just to have him as our server. Thank you Tyler S. Thank you Cheddars! read more

Well we tried them again after a long long hiatus because of bad service mainly. Ordered sweet tea which wasnt sweet at all. The server said theybwere supposed to use a recipe and maybe they didnt. A cheeseburger and unseasoned fries and I recieved heavily salted fries and the burger meet had so much salt in it I couldn't finish it. I dont have high blood pressure I just like small amounts of salt. My blood pressure is probably through the roof now. My husband said his country fried steak tasted good but was so thin it was amazing. Service decent but food is not as good as it could be. read more

Stopped in last night and was impressed with the outward appearance. Got there late, around 8:30PM and found the restaurant to be sparsely populated. Neat fan inside. The wait staff appeared to be in clean-up mode and headed for home soon. Drink order was taken, then the appetizer order. Appetizer was brought out, then the main meal order was taken. It took a while. The Ceasar salad was brought out - finally. Hamburger was brought out on a factory-made bun (sorry, that's the best description I can give). Some other waitress had it .... stopped by, and then said she made a mistake, taking it to the bar. She returned with the same burger a few minutes later, apologizing about the mix-up. Somewhere along the way, a second drink was delivered. Original waitress finally returned and dropped off the bill ... never even asked about desert. I still left a tip. read more

We are frequent visitors to Cheddars and have been impressed with everything about the this location. The food is always fresh, cooked the way it is supposed to be, and served by pleasant servers. We have dined here with small parties to large parties and the service is always fantastic. Management is always walking around and checking on patrons. They are struggling. Tempted to give 1 star but the food is good. Pros: Food, interior design, umm, well, let me think.... Cons: Where to start. Waited about 10 minutes to be acknowledged by our waitress. Ordered a draft (draft selection sorely lacking) and a mixed drink. I kid you not, probably close to 1/2 hr wait. When it got there I immediately ordered another and I swear, my first beer was gone and I sat there still waiting for another. Wait...wait...wait. Holy cow! Was the place packed? NO! Finally! Then ordered spinach dip for appetizer. Maybe 15 min more and they brought it but it was cold. Ate some, then sent it back to be heated. 10 minutes and she brought some more chips. I didn't ask for more chips. I asked for the dip to be heated. 10 minutes more, finally saw our waitress and asked about the dip... Oh, yeah, let me check... wait...wait... Then she brings a new batch, still cold. I gave up. Ordered meals. Guess what? Wait....wait....wait. Gave up on ordering another beer. FINALLY! I'm thirsty, CAN I HAVE SOME WATER! Delightful atmosphere, delicious food, excellent service, reasonable prices. Didn't dine at Cheddar's for a long time because we thought it pricey and, from the outside, it didn't look like we'd want to pay higher prices (that's what some had told us) for an upscale coffee shop like it appeared to be. Cheddar's is more than a fancy coffee shop. Our growling tummies, the distance from home on the cold Spring day, and the inviting Cheddar's facade beckoned us to drive into the parking lot. We were promptly seated in a room with a view of an incredible fish tank and surrounded by leaded glass partitions, greenery and rotating palm fans. Lovely ambiance. Our helpful and friendly server, Tyler, recommended his favorites on the menu, attentively brought us diet Cokes and patiently waited for us to peruse the menu and choose our entrees. The honey ordered the philly steak sandwich with french fries, and I chose a new-menu item, a Napa chicken ciabatta sandwich with roasted tomato, avocado, cheese, spring mix greens and creamy sauce - and a side of cheesy broccoli. First and last time I'll dine at this location. The server dropped the tray holding five beverages. Thankfully my 5 month old niece only got sprinkled, but I got drenched. The left side of my pants were sopping wet. The server provided me with a handful of paper napkins instead of a towel. Apology was given, but it didn't stop there. The food was luke warm to cold when it was finally served. Requested a hot serving of french fries for three of us. Again, it took quite a while for them to arrive. No manager came to speak with us and apologize. No compensation for the beverage incident or cold food. To make an already eventful dining experience worse, the server cleaned off the table while we were still seated. And when I say "cleaned off", she scraped all the leftovers off the plates and dumped them onto one plate. We left as a kid throwing a tantrum wailed in the background. It was so hot inside the restaurant I was sweating like crazy. The service was mediocre and slow. Literally every bit of food brought to the table was way over-cooked. The croissants were crunchy. The cheese bites were way overdone and swimming in a pool of grease. The ribs were dry and chewy. The shrimp was hard and rubbery. The mashed potatoes were dry and flavorless. I am visiting family from Sacramento and heard that this place was great for authentic southern food. I was sorely disappointed! First the white fish was undercooked and baked potato was cold. The manager did kindly replace the plate with a vegetable platter of my choosing and a piping hot baked potato. However, my mother and I ate the salad and the moment we returned to our hotel we both were very sick. I'll spare the details but I am thankful for my medical training which helps me to know that this was food poising. We have been going to this Cheddars for years and it's always been excellent. We did find out that the original owners of the chain has sold out to Dardens and they have made a lot of changes. Just got to say, probably the worst service I've ever received. Took forever to get waters. Food took forever and that would be okay if the food that came to the table wasn't cold. The mashed potatoes and the queso were hard. When I got my food, the waiter asked if I wanted more water in my empty water glass? We ordered our food at 7 pm. It said to arrive at 7:25. We arrived at the restaurant at 7:30. We checked in said our food was here and waited. 8:00 rolls around and no food yet. I decided to call and a women answered and said she'd check it out us on hold for 15 minutes without any communication. I hung up and called again, we were out on hold for a while then a guy answered and said hello and then 2 seconds later just hung up. We called again and i could hear people talking but to not us like to their coworkers. We said hello multiple times and then just hung up. Uh, well, hmm....... I hate to rain on my own Cheddar's parade, but I have to. My excitement at the opening of a new Cheddar's meant we ate there once a week until the third time. On my third visit I not only received a salad with a large fruit fly in it, but I also got a chicken sandwich with a short hair in it. Since I like Cheddar's and our waitress was beyond friendly, like in the top 5 of waitresses ever for me, I was just going to chalk it up to accidents and let it go. Problem is, the manager did not act remorseful whatsoever. I know that's petty to say, but he almost looked bored during his apology and made me feel oddly guilty for complaining as if I was wasting his time. A few days later, my boyfriend was still so bummed that he decided to email Cheddar's to say how disappointed he was that this happened at one of his favorite restaurants. They responded with an apology and promised to send a coupon for a free meal. (I believe the manager originally had comped my salad but not the whole meal) We never received the coupon, now about 6 weeks later. I sort of let the hair and fly go, but the manager and missing coupon soured me on Cheddar's for the time being and has a long-time Cheddar's fan (my bf) currently boycotting them. Just had lunch with a friend at Cheddar's Casual Cafe. It was my first visit, and I came away well-impressed. This location is fairly new, and it's obvious that quite an investment was sunk into both the structure and the decor. A large fountain splashes outside at the corner. In the lounge, the usual barback is replaced with an enormous fishtank. In the center of the dining area, huge paddle fans swoop through an atrium. The overall decor is red brick and polished wood, comfy and welcoming without being stuffy. Casual, yes, but classy too. Cheddar's goes big in a lot of ways. The restaurant is big. I didn't inquire about the maximum occupancy, but it's a big place. Our party of two was given a booth, and it was a big booth, might seat six or eight. They're big on staff, too. If we'd had any need, there would have been someone in a white oxford shirt and an apron strolling by within three seconds. Both my friend and I noticed there seemed to be a surprising number of staff on hand. And yes, portions were also big. Big isn't always better, though. Happily, Cheddar's prices seemed quite reasonable. The place was bustling at the height of lunchtime, and we were given a buzzer by the friendly hostess, though we barely had time to sit down in the lounge before it went off. Our server was Kristy B., also quite friendly and gracious. I ordered the Shepherd's Pie, my friend the 8-oz steak, and we both had sodas. The Shepherd's Pie ($7.49) was quite large, more than enough for a lunchtime portion. It was quite tasty. My friend prefers his steak ($9.99) well-done, so of course it was ruined, but that was his fault, not Cheddar's. They ruined it just as he requested. It was certainly 8 ounces or more, from the look of it. Kristy also was prompt with complimentary refills of our sodas. Despite Cheddar's size, there is ample parking. As the listing indicates, yes, there is outdoor seating, but it is quite scant, only 4 or 5 tables on a small patio overlooking the fountain. I'd recommend Cheddar's for most any visitors, save perhaps those seeking a quiet, intimate spot for a romantic rendez-vous. I had always heard mixed reviews about this place so had been hesitant to check it out. I finally decided to give it a try one Saturday and was pleasantly surprised. The parking lot was packed and I almost decided to go somewhere else, but once inside we were seated very quickly and the waitress came to take our orders almost immediately. Our waitress was very professional and attentive. Got our food out to us quickly and kept checking to make sure we had enough to drink. I found myself on an adventure with time to kill for a change. I had an early lunch and hit up what seemed to be the only restaurant in the area?? This Cheddars is kind of in the middle of nowhere, its on the north side of the interstate. I don't frequent Knoxville so I can't tell you if that's very accurate. I've never been to a Cheddars. Seen them everywhere but I've never stopped in. So I ordred the chicken fingers and fries. I wanted to try the cole slaw but the waitress insisted I had to pay for an extra side, which was something absurd in price. (I can't remember now, but it was like $4 if I recall correctly.) I'm a bit of a cole slaw snob, so I tend to be cautious, but I like to try it! So no cole slaw it was. Now first of all this particular location was busy as all get out for like.. 11AM. I had to wait about 10 minutes and I was eating alone. Eventually they sat me down at the cadillac fleetwood of booths. After getting lost in the giant booth twice, I eventually found my menu. Now what I ordered was the smallest chicken strips. In fact I think it may have been the appetizer. But what I got.. felt like an entire chicken farm on a plate. HUGE piles of chicken, stacked to the ceiling! (ok not really but it was like 4 or 5 giant chicken fingers.) a giant bowl of honey mustard, and some fries. An overflowing plate! I was so glad I didn't order the dinner portion! Or pay for that extra side! So after 20-30 minutes I'm groaning with a full belly and my plate looks barely touched. I left feeling STUFFED. I left so much food behind the waitress asked me if I wanted a to go box. When I said no, she raised an eyebrow and said "you sure?" I had to drive back home, so no I didn't want chicken smelling in my car for 3 hours. If you live in this area or somehow find yourself on Clinton hwy and DONT live in this area, OR if you like eating a metric ton of chicken for lunch, drop in! Chickens this large my father and I refer to as "fat chickens.' They are difficult to cut up and get to the meat with.
