Food was a little less than good. This was not my first visit to this location. I have never had issues before but this was less than pleasant. I ordered fish and chips menu said this was a new item so I thought I would try it. So I ordered fish and chips and could get one side dish so I ordered a caesar salad. The waitress said I could pick another side. I thought the chips would have been the first side but apparently not. We ordered chicken tenders from the children's menu. I received the Caesar salad and we were waiting for the rest of our food.I finished my salad and the rest of our order still hadn't arrived. I told my niece they must have had to go catch the fish (she ordered salmon). The order started coming out so we started cutting the chicken tenders from the kids meal and the first piece was not chicken it was fish so we put it on my plate and let the waitress know we got a piece of fish instead of a piece of chicken and that's when everything started going down hill. I guess we were supposed to set the piece of fish to the side because she wanted to know where it was. After explaining a second time she brought the chicken tender. When we started eating the waitress came back by and asked how everything was. We all replied ok. There were 3 adults and a child in our group. Just after she walked away I realized I didn't receive my fries, before she came back by a floor manager stopped and asked how our meals were. We told her about one of the chicken tenders was a piece of fish and that I didn't get my fries. She offered to get me the fries but I was getting full so I said no. The waitress came back to the table and started asking what had happened which the floor manager had already told her. She said she ASSumed I didn't want the fries but the salad and that is why she said I had another side. I had already closed the menu and thought maybe it came with 2 sides but it didn't. I'm not sure how many people order fish and chips and don't want the fries because if that were the case they could have ordered the white fish meal that was above the fish and chips. Anyway she continued to discuss the order, never offered an apology or anything. This person should not work with the public she has a chip(not a fry) on her shoulder which doesn't go well in the hospitality industry. We asked for a to go box and she never returned to the table but quickly brought one to the table across from us who had requested one after we did. The hostess sat us almost immediately after our arrival on a busy Sunday afternoon, and our meal began with a plate of warm, sweet croissants. Next came a tower of crispy battered onion rings with two dipping sauces. Absolutely yum! I ordered two sides for my entree: Caesar salad and Buffalo fried shrimp. They were sprinkled with powdered sugar and served alongside a ramekin of what he said was some of the best strawberry jam he's tried. He chose a cheesy broccoli casserole for his side and had no complaints with that. Brooke, our server, kept on her toes with a roomful of diners, treated us as though we were the only patrons in the restaurant. We drove into Knoxville for the farmers market and decided to drive around afterwards. We stopped in at Cheddars and was not disappointed, my wife went with the tacos and I went with the chicken fried chicken. Both were amazing. We ordered the cheddar bites, and they were so good, and I absolutely LOVE the complementary fresh croissants (still warm from the oven!). They are absolutely AMAZING! Their prices on beer and wine are SO much more reasonable than other places we go, and the food was delicious! Their charge for a 9 oz. glass of wine is what most places charge for 6oz, and I hope they continue that! We went in with a group of five people and all ordered something different and separately, and then each of us got a monster cookie to boot, and the food was all great and had massive portions, but what really stood out was our server, Alexis D., who kept is steadily supplied with drinks and was SO kind and understanding of everything we asked of her. The have a wonderful menu with a wide variety of options, including my favorite, a chicken pot pie. We went for lunch and we're served mouth watering croissants with a honey, buttery glaze. They were light and fluffy and melted in your mouth. Meals were about $10-15; very reasonable for the area. We enjoyed a quiet meal and were able to talk and eat comfortably. Haven't been here since right before the pandemic and all this time, I've been dreaming of their onion rings. Not just your ordinary onion rings, but the crispy fried ones with no excess oil, the kind with the incredibly sweet onions locked inside the tasty crust, and ohhh the smell! The family and I, after careful deliberation, decided upon Cheddars for our evening sustenance. We had been in heated debate whether to eat at O'Charleys or this establishment. Both were favored for one thing and one thing in particular. The pre dinner accompaniment. O'Charleys has their delicious rolls and Cheddars, their buttered croissants. Back and forth it went, until expecting mama put her foot down and asserted her will. The croissants won out, and thus, we find ourselves seated around a table, licking butter off our fingers. Isn't it typical that us crazy Americans are arguing over buttered bread while a war is raging in the Ukraine? I'm sure they have never tasted Cheddars croissants, for if they had, they may at this very moment be breaking bread at the negotiating table. Two burgers, a Dijon chicken dish, a country fried steak, and chicken fingers for Benjamin, hit our table just about the time we were wondering if we had been stiffed by our server. We weren't forgotten, not even when I had mentioned that a beer was a couple of ounces short. Most likely due to an evaporated head (not the server, the glass of beer). Our server promptly brought those delinquent 2 oz.'s in a separate glass. I was kind of hoping for a full one. It would have been a "shingled roof" you know, it's on the house? Our food was right on. Very good and what we expected. On par with what we would have got at the O's. The funny thing is that when all was said and done, our conversation on the drive back home centered around the croissants. Well, because when I picked Benjamin up to see the fish in the aquarium, I saw quite a bit of algae on the inside glass. Upon entering this establishment, I refuse to call compliment it by calling it a restaurant, my wife and I were "greeted" by what had to be the most hateful hostess I have ever encountered. She literally dropped the menus and silverware on the table before we sat down and walked off. Before ordering, I went to the restroom. It was filthy and stank of urine...ALSO the stall was "gang tagged" (See pictures below) The server was either new or had some sort of learning disability. The food runner had his mask around his chin exposinghis mouth and nose. I think he may have had learning disabilities as well. Who doesn't know how to properly wear a mask??? When I received my meal the steak was nearly well done, I ordered it medium rare, yet cold as were the coconut shrimp. Instead of complaining about the wrong steak I asked for some A-1, which I never use, because I like to taste my steak, he brought me barbecue sauce and said that they didn't have A-1. The loaded baked potato was so overcooked that it had shriveled and dried out and the broccoli casserole had a large burnt section on it. The server rushed the check and I told him that we wanted desert he audibly sighed and reluctantly took the desert order. The chocolate cake was stale, the ice cream was nearly melted and to top it off, he said that they were out of cherries. I will not speak for my wife's experience because it is not my place to do so. In conclusion don't eat at this Cheddars at all!!! Go to Burger King down the road. I have never been there but it has to be better than Cheddars, and probably won't be tagged by gangs. I don't usually love chain restaurants but Cheddar's always provides a great meal at a good price. Today was no exception. There were two of us, both old-ish women, there for lunch. We both chose the Veggie Plate which allows the choice of a bowl of Potato Soup or a house salad AND four of te great sides. The choices are all delicious and portions generous. All this for $10! To top it all off our server, Allison, was stellar. She made sure everything was to our liking, kept drinks refilled , cheerful brought containers for leftovers and bags.
