Was on a road trip and decided to stop at Drake's for dinner. Drake's is restaurant that has a bar with adult beverage options as well as food such as burgers and sushi. They have a variety of craft cocktails on the menu. I customized the spicy margarita to add mezcal and it was a great drink. They also have 20 craft beers on tap. They have a lively atmosphere with lots of televisions broadcasting sporting events. I was interested in trying the sushi rolls. They had a menu with a wide variety of sushi options. I ordered the crunchy roll with tempura crunch, avocado, seaweed, sushi rice and yellowtail as well as the tempura shrimp roll with Tempura shrimp, avocado, seaweed, sushi rice, sesame seeds; topped with sushi sauce. The rolls were fresh and handmade. Other people in my party ordered the chili and the Southern fried chicken sandwich with broccoli. I like this place. It was definitely busy on a Friday night. You seat yourself, so we grabbed a table on the bar patio right when people finished. It's a fun vibe and friendly service. I ordered a chopped salad with grilled salmon and poppyseed dressing and a draft beer. The salad was very good and reasonably priced. The salmon portion is pretty small and I wish the salad had like one more element to it, but I would get it again in a heartbeat. My daughter got the teriyaki salmon roll minus avocado. It was just fine for me, but my daughter said it was "fire". Honestly, she just likes food and definitely always better when it is parent paid! read more

Drake's is a chill spot for those who love beer and wings. Their interior was cozy with a fire place. I went with my dad who goes there with his buddies for craft beer night. I enjoyed my Dragon Roll it was really good ; just how it should be with the right amount of sauce etc. My dad enjoyed his mini cheese burgers with his wings. Awesome stop, especially on a gorgeous Saturday when the doors and open and football is on all the televisions! What a nice little spot! It was cozy and mellow inside on a rainy weekday and yet there were still plenty of people in there. The server was very friendly and proactive; she did a great job! We ended up ordering burgers but they were delicious. We also had some beer since they were running a $3 beer promotion; those were nice and cold. I was surprised at how dim it was inside though, certainly gave it a cozy feeling but I wasn't sure if it was just due to the weather or if it's always like that... I meet almost monthly with a group of friends who are all advisors for a local college group. We've met for the past few years at a Drake's location, either Hamburg or Lansdowne, and it is always a good experience. We enjoy the fresh air when the garage door is up in nice weather and it's comfortable in the winter, too. The staff at both locations are always friendly, attentive, conversational, and good at getting us food and drink when we need it. The food is always fresh, hot, and tasty. Menus are available at Drake's from all the BHG brands so you have a lot of variety to choose from. The bottomless salad is delicious, the big baked potatoes are awesome, their fried shrimp is crispy and a fave of mine. Plus the burgers, sandwich, steaks, etc. all good. If ever anything goes awry, they've taken care of it. My wife and I frequent BHG establishments, as well. read more

Drake's is always a pleasant experience with quality food, a large selection of beverages, and an attentive wait staff. Today, Veteran's Day, was especially delightful as they offered vets up to $35 off their food. Dustin, the bartender, took great care of me and as always is professional and friendly. The sushi was very fresh and delicious. My Michters Rye Old Fashioned was exquisite. On this cold post snow day the roaring fireplace tucked into the corner was a welcome and cozy addition. I loved Drake's! My friend and her husband had us go here for dinner as it's one of her favorites. I understand why! I love a menu that brings in options, from wings, salads, burgers to sushi rolls! Not featured in my photos was my amazing bbq burger. I ate the entire burger and fries. Best to say I was full! To back track: we had the pretzels to start off which were nice and soft. Loved the dipping sauces. I had one of their special salmon rolls and I was very happy with it. They had a lot of good options - it was hard to pick. Kitchen staff- you all ate that up!!!!! our food was so so amazing. Unfortunately, our server Morgan left a sour taste in our mouth. We did not see her for at least 25 minutes. She comes to the table right beside us asks how they are, we wave at her, she then proceeds to turn around and walk the other way. Okay, accidents happen, whatever. What really started to rub us the wrong way was we watched her spend 10 plus minutes at a table of boys who looked a little young for her talking and twirling her hair. At this point we all finished our drinks 30 plus minutes ago. I'm starting to get thirsty af! We see her on her phone in the corner still refusing service to our table. Eventually food is ran to us by some kind young gentleman (thanks!!!). Missing all of the sauces we requested (usually not a big deal but considering we had no clue when we would see her again lolol). Also, still no new drinks. Time goes by and we eventually have to ask another woman to go find her. Almost 10 minutes later, Morgan returns!!! Yay!!! She takes our drink orders. We wait a bit. That's never a big deal because I understand that bartenders are busy. She eventually brings them out, unfortunately missing 2! Great! FINALLY, we get the rest of our drinks. Proceed to sit there and wait. Eventually have to ask another older gentleman to get our checks. He then waves down Morgan and she finally gets back to us. I get having a bad day, but watching you treat other customers with 10x more respect and attentiveness is just frustrating. Lack of consistency. Awesome experience! Beer, burgers, and sushi...plus great environment, service, appetizers, and liquor options. The only problems with this place...it's hard to pick from all the options on the menu and we don't have one close to home. It's so nice to have a bar environment with awesome beer and whiskey choices that also has sushi. A date night dream. My bbq burger was great. I could only eat half of it and picked at less than half of those delicious sweet potato fries. My wife got a crab Rangoon roll and loved it. The star of the show was surprisingly the spinach dip. That and the chips were world class. This will be a must visit for us when back in Lexington. read more

Our first time at Drake's courtesy of my wife's sister who lives here in Lexington. This is a happening place! GREAT atmosphere in the double bar side of the restaurant. We did not go into the main dining room but opted for the "seat yourself" bar area. The inside bar is huge with a fairly large bar outside in the very well covered patio which is really the building with a wall missing to give you the feel of being outside. Loud Rock n Roll music, some dance, some pop permeates the double bar areas. Lots of channels on the multiple screens including Chive TV which is hilarious AFV type fails plus extreme sports fails and saves. The first thing I notice was how thick the napkin was wrapping my flatware. Then our server was right there taking drink orders and right back with the actual drinks almost immediately. Our food order for five people was fast as well. I ordered the BLT-Minis with Tater Tots. I received three little sandwiches which were easy to eat. The tots were well cooked for a welcomed change and crispy instead of half cooked and limp. My wife ordered the Fried Chicken Tenders with the Coleslaw. The tenders were extra crunchy, seasoned perfectly, and served piping hot. The honey mustard sauce was sweet and really complimented her meal. My sister-in-law also ordered the Fried Chicken Tenders (her most favorite here) with Waffled Sweet Potato Fries. Our granddaughter also ordered the Fried Chicken Tenders with the Drake's (crinkle style) Fries. Her cousin, one of other granddaughters, had eaten with her family previously so she ordered dessert and ordered a piece of cheesecake with strawberry sauce. She didn't finish it (she's tiny) so we sampled it and found it was not as sweet as other restaurants and preferred the taste here at Drake's. 10/30/20 This is one of my favorite Drake's location. Here's why; it's the closest to my home, the food has always been great every single time, and as the drinks. This place used to be a great hang out spot and the dance floor would get popping. So the nostalgic memories for me, but also the food is great. You can order various types of foods like classic American, to Asian inspired foods like sushi. Tonight I had the sliders and the Lexingtonian salad. If you didn't know about the lexingtonian salad, here's what you should know. It's the best, it's bottomless, and you can get full off of it. It comes with heaps of crispy bacon a top of a delicious array of salad greens. Just so good! Highly recommend getting this, especially if you enjoy a good hearty salad. Drakes always has the best food. I like to try something new every time I go there but I also have my go to foods as well. I think it's the perfect casual chill spot to go to for lunch or dinner. They have amazing appetizers and entrees as well. We got the fried fish sandwich with sweet potato waffle fries, which was so good as well as buffalo chicken sliders. For appetizer, we got a crunchy munchy roll and we also got a dessert from the Malones menu which was the doughnut, bread pudding with ice cream and candy pecans on top. Came here right after everything inside had shut down in Kentucky for the second time. I hunted long and hard for a place that would be able to seat me outside. Drake's luckily had an outdoor bar seating with plenty of heaters to keep patrons warm as it had severely cooled down outside. Keely was the waitress and she was very friendly and quick to keep me happy. After having a delicious and warm Irish coffee, I enjoyed some random bits of sushi. The Tuna Stacker was delicious and a great chance on typical sushi. Texas Crunch and Crunchy Rainbow were delicious and totally Americanized with sauce. Lastly, the Crab Rangoon roll was full of delicious cream cheese and crab, exactly as you may guess. Everything was good and came with a smile. Three friends and I were originally trying to go to Malone's but we didn't want to wait for a table, so we went around to Drake's (I'm told they are the same restaurant, just different menus but you can order from both menus if you like). We were first seated at a small high top table and with all the food we ordered, it was almost impossible to eat at such a small space. Luckily, a larger table right next to us cleared up shortly after our food arrived and we were able to switch over. For drinks, I had Raspberry Lemonade (tequila, triple sec, sour mix, raspberry puree, pink lemonade). I swapped out the tequila for vodka. Overall, the drink was way too sweet. For food, we ordered a bunch of things to share: Sriracha Wings - my friend was raving about these wings, but I thought it was only okay. They use a dry rub instead of sauce, so maybe that's why I didn't like it as much. The seasoning was also a bit too smoky for my taste Drake's nachos (fresh tortilla chips layered w/ beef & bean chili & warm beer cheese, topped w/ fire-roasted salsa, sour cream, guacamole & jalapeño) - nothing special. The salsa tasted like it was out of a jar. Can't go wrong with guac though BLT Tots (crispy tater tots layered w/ creamy ranch dressing & warm smoky bacon, topped w/ crisp shredded iceberg, fresh Roma tomatoes, creamy ranch dressing, more bacon & scallions) - this was my favorite. It was almost like nachos but in tot form. The lettuce almost made me not feel so bad that I was stuffing my face with tater tots for dinner California Cobb (chopped greens, sliced grape tomatoes, corn, scallions & chicken breast tossed in citrus vinaigrette & topped w/ bacon, avocado & blue cheese crumbles) - I needed this to balance all the other unhealthy things we were eating. This salad could easily have served two people as a meal. The chicken was pretty dry and kind of had this left over taste to it, but the rest of the salad was fine Crab Rangoon Roll (crab and cream cheese blend, seaweed, tempura fried, topped with sushi sauce and sweet-chili sauce) - we were kind of iffy on getting sushi here but we also wanted to try it, so we figured it would be safe to stick with a cooked roll. It was definitely interesting, between the cream cheese, the tempura and the sweet chili sauce. A bit much. I wouldn't order this roll again This was definitely too much food for us. The portions are HUGE. We had a ton of leftovers, so you definitely get a bang for your buck here. Overall, it's a good place for some bar food (or sushi). They have so many options so if you are in a group, you'll definitely find at least one thing for everyone. read more

I've been to this location several times. The service is always very slow, & the bartenders and hardly behind the bar. Although you'll see plenty of employees walking around or standing by the service station. It smells of sewage. Bar top was sticky and smelled like an old rag. They didn't have the air on, or if they did you couldn't feel it. The fans hardly work, maybe it's the dust caked on them. Food took 30 mins, makes zero sense because we got wings. Wow! I have been to Drake's many times and somehow had never ordered the Black Bean Avocado Burger-- my mistake! This veggie burger is one of the best I've ever had. The patty was so crispy and flavorful and the avocado lime slaw paired amazingly! Drake's has many great menu items but the veggie burger deserved a special shout-out for my vegetarian friends! Drake's deserves 5 stars for the consistency in the atmosphere and food among all locations. It's great food in a more casual atmosphere. The service is always great, my only critique is that some locations have a seat yourself policy which can be a little chaotic if you go when it's busy or have a large party. Can't say enough good things about this place. The staff was very courteous, hard working and friendly. Keely took great care of us, was asking how we were and if we needed anything before we were low on anything. It's a first come type of place, and we were seated right away-it helps to be early. The drinks were amazing; I tried the Wine Not and Strawberry Kiwi Mule both great, the hubby tried 2 flights of 8 different beers. There was never a time when we had to wave anyone down for service. The food was not only delicious but plentiful, we started with the Buffalo chicken quesadilla and it was tasty, flavorful and cheesy. My burger was so big I couldn't finish it, and trust me I can eat. The hubby had 3 different sushi rolls and couldn't pick a favorite, nor could he finish them. You do get your money's worth. Coming here at 10:35pm on a Thursday night, we had no idea their kitchen would close at 10:30pm. Unfortunately we were really looking forward to a late night dinner so we were quite disappointed when we heard the news. BUT this visit wasn't a complete waste! Fortunately, on Thursdays they have a craft beer on special for $3/12oz can. Then to satisfy our food cravings, everyday after 10pm they offer $1 mini burgers, we were set! And on top of that, 1 person in our party doesn't eat beef, but the waitress was nice enough to request the kitchen to substitute the beef burgers for mini grilled chicken sandwiches. While we didn't get a real dinner like we were expecting, the accommodations provided as a substitute were pleasantly perfect. How can you go wrong with cheap craft beer, and juicy, savory sliders?! Wanted to give a shout out to Drake's for letting curbside orders for their burgers this year for burger week. Typically in the past no restaurant would allow you to call in for their burger during burger week but they were also only $5. This year they have increased to $6 which is totally understandable with Covid-19. When I pulled in the spot at Drake's they said it would be around 20-25 minutes for my order but it was well worth the wait. This burger was a beast and was delicious but I must mention the brown mustard. The brown mustard was not spread around but more like in one spot and I could have done without it to be honest. Fun atmosphere if you eat inside, but they do take out really well. Someone immediately comes to your car when you park in the curbside pick up area even in the rain, which I appreciate. I live pretty close by and order the mini cheeseburgers with a side of their sweet potato fries occasionally and the sweet potato fries are killer and the burgers are really good. Poor service. We waited 45 min. for our appetizer. When our food finally came they left the 2nd patti off one of the burgers. Waitress wouldn't tend to us for water or even check on refills for what we ordered. Had to flag other waitresses down or go directly to the bar. Oktoberfest at Drake's! Ein Gute Zeit! It's not often that I act on restaurant marketing emails, but Drake's marketing team seems to have a knack for pulling me in. A while back, it was a mahi-mahi reuben, which was strangely delicious, and this time, an email blast about Drake's Oktoberfest got my attention. We ended up really enjoying the Beer Garden Fritters! We were served a huge order of these hush puppy like fritters which were filled with bratwurst, sauerkraut, cumin, caraway seeds, and cream cheese and served with beer cheese for dipping. Strange, right? WRONG! DELICIOUS! We also enjoyed the Crispy Chicken Schnitzel Salad, which consisted of fried chicken cutlets drizzled with honey mustard over chopped greens with a celery seed vinaigrette. If you get email blasts from Drake's that sound a little different, give them a try!
