It;s sad to see how just a few are criticizing the new Cheddars...of course there will be some confusion and maybe even a few mistakes from staff just learning the restaurant business. We had lunch there yesterday and it was wonderful ! The waiter was courteous and knew what he was doing, not a long wait for our food....and the food was great !! We were there at 11 a.m. and it quickly filled up, so be prepared to have a short wait...but it's worhth it. Wwe will go back and soon !! read more

They have the best ribs and if you like corn.... Theirs is great! My husband gets the chicken strip meal and I get the full rack of ribs and we split it. It's cheaper than ordering the ribs and chicken meal and you get more food. Overall, the ribs are fall of the bone and the chicken is great too. Good and reasonable place to eat! read more

My fiancée and I really enjoy coming here for an afternoon date. The food is good and reasonably priced, and the service isn't bad either. There have been a few time a when we have waited a little longer than usual, but other than that, no real complaints for me. A meal for two was less than $20 and it was big! read more

Love. The menu does not have a huge selection for actual dinner options, but it's a large restaurant and somewhere that has generally good service. Very family friendly. Our son loves the fish and the queso dip. We go often on the wknds for an appetizer and drinks. Nothing too special, but a great option for something quick with a family. I would just like to state for this and future reviews (that I am sure will come),that I know someone that works there , and they have told me that the place is disorganized. First of all , they hired 240 people(thats right ,240!) ,and tried to train them all from top to bottom in just 5 days. Of course they were all trained by 5 different managers ,who each have different points of view. Second , now that they are open , they have all of these employees working together in tight areas ,running into each other and probably getting mixed up , because they are overstaffed and undersupplied also. I have read alot of reviews very similar to this in other cities and it's pretty clear what the problem is.Poor management.Too many indians with a few chiefs that aren't on the same page.Seems that they are more worried about their policies towards the employees than the actual flow of service ,which leads to disorganized chaos. So , while there are probably a few employees that aren't doing things correctly, I would not dismiss all of them ,as it seems they are not the source of the actual problem. And , like I said before , I have read this in many reviews across the country , and they all stated the same problems ,and they were all from relatively new stores. Hopefully they can turn it around over the course of time , not only for their customer's sake , but also for the employees , because alot of people are depending on this for a job ,and they can only do so much with the resources given to them. Which is sad in my opinion ,because most people actually said that they enjoyed their food and the environment , and I know poeple who have been to other locations that said it was fabulous. Not impressed at all. Hostesses argued about who would wait the table leaving us standing and listening. Not crowded but slow service. Food was mediocre. Drinks were skimpy. I know a lot of people like this place but I would not recommend it. read more

The ONLY reason they are getting a 2 and not a 1 is because the food was pretty good. But the service was so incredibly bad it felt like we were being punked! 1. All five of us were able to pick out our meals and then sit and wait before we were ever greeted by our waiter to even get drinks. 2. We had no silverware or napkins until we got a bounty towel off of the register area. 3. 2 out of 5 appetizer plates were DIRTY. Who know if our plates that our food came on were clean 4. One of our orders came 10 minutes before the other 4 of us, and it was already cold. We asked for the cold early plate to be redone and they just warmed it up and brought it back out. We know because the bite mark in the mashed potatoes was still there. 5. We were consistently out of drinks, and had to ask multiple times for drinks. We even had to wait longer while tea had to be brewed. 6. We had a random waitress bring us a a whole tray of food while we all already had our plates, and clearly oblivious to the fact we were already eating. And with all of that happening, absolutely nothing was offered to rectify this terrible service. read more

I'm giving 4 stars because I have been to other cheddars and it's always been delicious and a great experience. This cheddars location dropped needs to rethink who they have hired!!! We went a few weeks ago while staying in the area because my husband is being relocated and we were super excited to find a cheddars here. It was a Saturday night so we figured there would be a wait. 5 girls standing at the hostess station and one of them tells us 30-45 minute wait. So we sit down with our buzzer and wait. We watched people come and go for such a long time when I notice a party of 4 who came in way after us gets seated. We figure there are more of them maybe a large table opened up. Next to be seated was a couple who came in after us, and then another! My husband goes up to the hostess stand and asks why people who came in after us have already been seated. All the girls look at each other confused and then one says (very unenthusiastic) "come with me". We follow her as she stomps off to a booth and just points to it with a look on her face that seemed to read " there, happy now?" Our waitress was not much more chipper and rushed us through everything while we wanted to relax and talk since we had been house hunting all day and were in no hurry to go back to our hotel. While we were waiting for a drink refill (that we finally gave up on) two boys bussing the table behind us were cussing up a storm and making fun of another customer. I'm not a prude I have heard cuss words before but it's not something I expect to hear over dinner while dinning out. My heart broke for the woman they were bashing and prayed she didn't hear them. After we gave up trying to get a drink refill we just left yeah the food was great but who cares at that point. So like I said I gave this place 4 stars because we are long time patrons of this franchise but I didn't care at all for who runs this particular one and the people they employ! ...seriously why do you need a herd of girls to run the hostess stand?! read more

Went to Winston Salem location tonight. Got there at 7:30, left at 9:38. Took forever for initial visit for drink order. Took even longer to get 4 teas and she forgot my lemon. I asked again and she said oh yeah, I'll get some. She came back and took our order (still no lemon). We ordered a pasta which was very good, 2 other dishes (meatloaf was very good), and I ordered a country fried chicken, which said it came on Texas toast with gravy, mashed potatoes and green beans. She asked if I wanted the lunch or dinner portion. I said lunch and asked the difference. She said dinner came with 2. I said definitely the lunch. And asked for lemon again. Still no lemon after 10 minutes. I looked for her and saw she was cleaning a table. I got up to ask her and she tried to hurry away with the dishes, so I called loudly. I asked again for lemon and an order of croissants. Lemon finally came and one tea already needed refilling. She brought tea and croissants in a reasonable time. It took a while for the food and we never saw her again until then. She only had one other table and they were eating. When the food came, she apologized because they accidentally made country fried steak so they were cooking that. Everyone else was well into eating before I got mine. When I did, I got the dinner order of 2 pieces. I reminded her that I ordered the lunch order of 1 piece. She told me to keep it and she'd have the mngr fix the price. There was no Texas toast or gravy. What's country style anything without the gravy. I didn't bother asking. I did tell her upfront that I'd like a to go container, which never came. She never came back to see if everything was okay and my chicken wasn't even done and was pink in the middle. 3 of us ran out of tea completely and the 4th could've used a refill. We didn't get any, nor did we get a chance to ask. She came later with the bill and tried to rush off, so we hurriedly asked for 4 boxes and 2 cups to go. She took boxes and the bill to the other table. It took a while to get our boxes and I realized we were charged the dinner price for the chicken. So we had to wait again for that to get fixed. The receipt said the chicken and pasta came with garlic bread, lol. We never got any. I feel like we spent an extra 30 minutes just trying to get out of there. The only other table she had (with 2 guys), got up and left after having words with the mngr. She only went to them once and they had drinks, and still had menus. They waited about 30 minutes. I'd like to know what these servers have to do in the back, that keeps them so busy they can't properly wait on customers. I waited tables for 14 years and no matter where I worked, we were not allowed to hide out in the back. Certainly not if we expected tips. It may have been a different time, but I learned customer service and if you didn't wait on tables well and earn your tip, you didn't get one. I rarely let anyone's drinks get below half. And that was having a full section, not just 2 tables. And no dirty dishes or empty glass was removed. They just don't pre-bus anymore do they? Hardly anyone, anywhere we eat does. They just expect people to sit cramped, with dirty dishes taking up room and no room left on the table for the food you are currently eating. Service is lacking at many restaurants these days yet they expect at least 20%, lol. And 18% on the low end. If they don't do a decent job, they aren't even getting 18% from me. I'm not strict, but have basic requirements that should be performed by any wait staff. That gets them the low end. Anything else that they go above and beyond for, gets the high end or better. I'm not cheap, but have experience and it's up to them what they can earn. Are they the cooks too, because they aren't on the floor waiting on tables or taking care of the customer. This job is all about the customer and not being present or constantly forgetting things, is unacceptable, no matter how nice they are. And we had silverware to roll and a few other things to do, but we didn't miss a beat, nor did customers ever have to wait like this.Times sure have changed. Many people expect to get paid for little work. No customer skills and no work ethic anymore. It's a shame because they have good food, but the service is slow and non-existent and I doubt we'll return. My son recently had a terrible experience also, because of the wait when they weren't even busy. read more

I've given Cheddar's three chances. I don't expect much ... decent, courteous service and hot food would be a good start. The first time we visited Cheddar's, it hadn't been open long. Our server was a hot mess. We waited a ridiculous amount of time for a sandwich and spaghetti, both of which arrived cold. I think there were four french fries with my sandwich, also cold. My server was very nice, but her fingers were all over the rims of our glasses. She had some type of food smear on her shirt and, when she sat at our table (yes, sat), the mystery food smear wound up on my table. After waiting for our cold dinner, our waitress talked us into a cookie. This took 35 minutes. For a cookie. We asked for it to go, as we were sick of sitting there. Our waitress opened the to-go box to show us our cookie and got fudge on her fingers. She then licked her fingers and used those same fingers to give me my box and my bill. Gross. It was very busy that day and the carpets were fifthly. There was staff milling about doing nothing when someone could have been sweeping under tables, wiping down tables, moving people in, serving them, and getting them out. Bad experience, but I chalked it up to new staff working the kinks out. Our second visit was much the same. Mediocre food served cold. I can't tell you why, but we tried Cheddar's one last time. Ugh ... Our waitress was very nice, but it was the same problems, different day. I ordered chicken fried steak. Gravy is a pretty important part of that meal, right? We waited and waited and waited for our food. It came, lukewarm as usual, and mine came without gravy. She gave me the plate and apologized, telling me they were out of gravy. Why wouldn't she have come back to our table after discovering there was no gravy and give me the chance to order something else?? I ordered something else only to have her bring back the same plate with gravy. Apparently they weren't out of gravy ... someone just had to go through the trouble of making the gravy. At this point, I can't even be upset with the restaurant anymore. I'm more upset with myself for even trying this Cheddar's a second , let alone third time. Save your time and money. If it hadn't been for the lousy waitress we had it would have been a much better experience. The food was plentiful and good. The service was terrible. Empty glasses left on the edge of the table so she could see we wanted and needed refills. Instead she thought it much more important to sit at the table next to us and drink a drink, eat a little something and play on her phone. When I brought it to the managers attention he said they had the same complaints about her before. (Then why is she still employed there????) We had to ask for silverware and napkins and straws and our salads after the main course had been delivered. Was never offered anything from management for compensation for lousy service. Normally I love cheddars so I thought this one would be great but there were some downsides. I ordered the lunch combination with a half a sandwich and two sides. I got the grilled buffalo chicken wrapper and it was also impossible to eat because they drenched it with buffalo sauce that was overwhelming and just dripping out of the wrap and making it soggy. I also had the Cesar salad and once again they drenched the salad with dressing and I ended up only eating a few bites. I got the chicken tortilla soup which wasn't terrible. My husband on the other hand had the same lunch combination but with the monte cristo which he loved as well as a house salad (not drenched in dressing) and the baked potato soup and he enjoyed those. I will definitely eat there again but get something else on the menu or ask for the dressing on the side. Otherwise the waitress was friendly and timely. I have never had to wait so long to put in an order and receive my meal. We sat down at 7:45 and didn't even get our food until 9:00! It was a simple order too, mainly because they have very little options for dietary restrictions. I ordered the vegetable plate, with the house salad, and side orders of black beans, steamed broccoli, french fries, and "seasoned" rice. All things that I'm assuming are pre made, yet it took FOREVER. I was not impressed at all. The server was very nice, and the atmosphere was pretty nice too, but my goodness it took way too long. I was surprised to see all the bad reviews on Cheddars, as we had a good meal today. Allison was our server, the service was excellent, very attentive, refilled drinks, check on us many times. Service was also quick, food was out a little too quickly if anything, still working on our appetizer when the entrees arrived. Onion rings were excellent, freshly battered, fried. Similar to tempura, the less time between the fryer and service, the better it tastes, and these were outstanding. I had the "Spasagna" (like lasagna, using spaghetti noodles) which was very good, my wife had the catfish, which was also excellent (we tried each others). Excellent prices, inexpensive relatively speaking. Had the mini-key lime pie in a glass, which we shared, as we were pretty full by then. As for the reviewer who complained it was dirty, no idea what he meant, as the place was spic-and-span, even the bathrooms. Definitely a keeper. The only minor complaint I had was, we were seated near the kitchen doors. We could hear an argument going on behind the doors, as they were yelling at each other. The staff was very friendly and did a decent job but we left saying we wouldn't go back with all of the other restaurants in town to choose from. Maybe we were just the unlucky family of the night but not much went right for us on this visit. It started with my wife getting served in one of the dirtiest wine glass that I have ever seen, then they served us food and left without giving us silverware to eat with, then we had an empty ketchup bottle on our table and quickly ended when my daughter found a hair in her food. We were there last night. It reminded me of an upscale Cracker Barrel. The waitress was very pleasant and helpful. The food was not out immediately, but it was worth the short wait. I ordered grilled catfish, and the lunch portion was huge! I appreciated that I could get the lunch portion and didn't have to pay for the dinner portion, even though it was 6pm. My sister got the top sirloin and said it was delicious! My dad got the fried catfish, and it was more than he could eat. Everything was freshly cooked and hot. We did not have room for desert. We are meeting more family there for lunch today! I say, "Excellent value and good, healthy food for the money!" We will return again! read more

When I first got the nachos I picked one up and thinking there was a tomato I went to pick it off and realized it was actually a red sticker! Worst of all it said Monday! My first Cheddar's experience was tonight. Just was craving a burger for dinner. We were seated right away. And then waited. And waited. 9min later as a waitress started to pass by, the wife mentioned maybe we need to go somewhere else. That waitress stopped and asked if we have been waited on. "Nope" I said." Not even a drink order, a "hiya', sorry be with you nothing." So about 4 min later our waiter came by and took our drink order. Nice man, entertaining, and service was looking up. Fast forward to food service. To keep it simple, the wife and I ordered the same. Bacon, mushroom Swiss burger (no swiss, some white american of some sort) and side of fries. Waiter forgot to put fries on the ticket. kitchen added lettuce, tomato, mayo to the burgers, no fries. Second time around, burgers right, no fries. Burgers and a massive bun. Greasy, appeared to be a over seasoned processed patty. Mushrooms were whole, but sauteed nicely. Unfortunately, this combination just tasted like a processed burger you would find in a truck stop food service. I was expecting a hand pattied burger. Not a processed, perfectly round, exact thickness burger from a company that raves about hand made foods all over their menu. I will try Cheddar's again, but defiantly not their burgers. read more

Our family goes there for the price point, the service does need some work since they are very slow at getting the food out, or even a drink refill. The food quality is a solid 3 star, the price is 4 stars and the service is 2-3 stars. I have found the building typically clean for our lunch visits. The food does seem a little too salty. We went to this restaurant yesterday to try something new, and boy were we disappointed... first of all when the first impression you get from your server is not her introducing herself but asking us what do we want to drink while -I kid you not- putting lip gloss on while talking to us, you know you're in for something. It seemed that she was the bartender while serving the bar, which its ok lots of places do that, there were other servers taking care of other tables at the bar as well so the fact that our food took long to get to us plus we never getting the garlic bread that was supposed to come with the meal (the server said she would go find out why it didn't came out twice, we never got an answer) is beyond me. She tried to give us a refill of our drink without us asking for it, which usually that's a nice touch, unfortunately she brought something completely different and never came back to check on it.. (we had coke...not a complicated drink) and to top it all she had time to go back to the bar and make drinks, but she had spare time to mingle with a couple that was talking to the manager instead of checking on us or getting us what we needed. The food was OK.. nothing to rave about... now what boggles me the most is how can a restaurant called Cheddar's not serve mac and cheese??! that's beside the point but come on,!! Worst service in Indiana. We went to Cheddar's last night and were told it would be a 2 hour wait. We stopped in the bar to check it out and maybe have a drink. There were 5 tables open just in there. All wait staff ignored us until we finally waved someone over (who looked surprised when we asked her to remove the last party's drinks and clean the table). Then she left, to be replaced by another server who rudely asked "What do you want?". She never came back and then a third server, over the next 45 min, finally got our drink order in. It took another 20 minutes to receive our drinks. Our party ordered food and it came quickly.... But my food was raw and they forgot to even put my husband's order in. The rest of the table was done eating and his plate still hadn't arrived. We canceled our order, left half our party at Cheddar's, and ate at Culver's down the street. My husband and I decided to try Cheddars, even though we generally try to stay away from chain restaurants. We waited just a few minutes to have a table cleaned off in the bar and were sat at a booth with what seemed like spot lights blinding us. Our drinks took at minimum 12 minutes, and service seemed pretty slow throughout the whole meal although it wasn't very busy. We were surprised to see the very inexpensive menu prices and were disappointed in the lack of variety. I read another review that said Applebees+Pier One= Cheddars and this seems fairly accurate. The mango salsa is a bit overdone at this point, and it seemed as though half the menu was categorized as "southern". I ordered a lemon pepper chicken breast and my husband ordered the grilled salmon. Our center of the plate items were both fine but mostly bland, but the "italian cut" green beans were most disappointing to say the least. To me, they tasted like they had been pickled and served straight from a can. Their color was not green, but more of a dark tan/brownish gray color. When our server cleared our plates and noticed we didn't eat them, she asked if we didn't like them, and then said "Oh, what's wrong, are they too southern for you?" We both held back laughter because neither one of us had any clue what that meant. Not sure when canned green beans became southern? Had we known the food quality was at this level we would have spent the extra money to go somewhere else with higher standards. A friend and I stopped at 5 p.m., and we commented that dining room area was empty but for us. Within 15 minutes it was filled up! Service was excellent and prompt, and our waitress checked on us several times. Food (grilled salmon and grilled chicken alfredo) was very good, surprisingly reasonably priced, and huge mugs of frozen Margaritas were only $4.49, but not as good as Hacienda's or TGI Fridays. Will continue to go back, for lunch and/or dinner. Have always had good food and good service. read more

The food was good but the service was so slow. If it was busy I'd understand, but there was no wait and we got there around 7pm.

As always wonderful food, however this time we were there for over three hours. An hour wait which is no problem, but took our waitress a half an hour to get our drinks, and then another hour for our food. So, from getting there at 5 and ended up leaving at 8. Wouldn't have minded so much if I didn't have my two year old with me and was way past his bed time. Anyone with small kids would understand how much of a struggle it is keeping a little one calm for so long. Our waitress didn't listen to us at all, asked for crayons and the coloring pages they have to keep him entertained, twenty minutes later I ended up asking another kind waiter to grab the two little things. When food was served we didn't have any silverware, and ended up grabbing some ourselves due to us again asking the waitress and her repeatedly not doing her job. So, overall great food but terrible service and honestly don't know if I'll end up returning. read more

Went there for dinner tonight as this place has just opened in our area and wanted to give it a try. When we got there, there were a lot of people waiting outside for a table. For a party of three, we were told it would be about a 35 min wait. We decided to go have a drink at the bar while we waited. We were paged for our table after only about 10 minutes, which we were really happy about. I ordered Chicken Tortilla soup and the Pear salad. Soup was just ok. Chicken Tortilla is one of my favorite soups and I've had better at other restaurants. Soup could have been hotter too. The Pear salad was delicious! Was just the perfect size and loved the price. Although I can't judge other dishes they have, they seem to make smaller (reasonable size) portions and therefore have lower prices. I've been to some restaurants where they charge an arm and a leg for a salad and it could feed 4 people and it goes to waste. So kuddos to them for charging reasonable prices for "normal" size portions. Overall I was satisfied with our experience there. The servers were nice too. read more
