I really wanted to love this place, but unfortunately, I can't. Nothing I ordered was good. The experience started off on the wrong foot when everything was served in plastic, to-go containers, even the hot soup! The lobster bisque was more of a curry soup with bits of lobster, and the sesame Asian wings were just burnt wings coated in a sticky sweet sauce. On a brighter note, the service was great, and while the restaurant is a bit of a dive, it was clean. They were busy, so they must be doing something right, maybe I just ordered the wrong items. I grabbed a peach cobbler to go, and it looked decent, so fingers crossed on that one. read more

This place must have been calling my name because as soon as I stepped inside this establishment, I felt like I was at home. The food was incredible! The service was excellent. The ambiance was perfect. The photos don't lie. Everything was made to order, fresh, and seasoned to perfection. That Chicken Broccoli roasta pasta will drive me daily from Richmond to Baltimore. I've had this place bookmarked for quite some time. It was only right that I stopped in to grab a few things to try on my visit. Went for the ribs and shrimp rasta pasta. The ribs were meaty, smoky, slightly fatty, and the sauce was delicious. Somewhere settled between savory and sweet. The rasta pasta was one of the better ones I've had. Veggies were crisp. Shrimp was cooked well, not overdone and rubbery. My friend liked his crab stuffed shrimp very much. The peach cobbler was well executed, great texture not too mushy or too stiff. I told myself the next I order from here I am going to get a whole slab of ribs. And I did!! I was not disappointed! It tasted just like the first time I ordered a smaller portion or ribs. Delicious! The meat is just so tender and then the smokiness from the grill comes out as well through the bbq sauce that is smothered on top. The ribs are just so good!! Not too much fat and a good amount of meat on the bones!! Highly recommend! The mash potatoes were just okay. Not anything to brag about. They could have been seasoned a little more especially for them to be garlic mashed potatoes. The corn, I won't be ordering that again. It was just way too much "Cajun" seasoning on it. It made the texture a little weird for me. I think the corn is grilled, at least it tasted that way. Which I would have preferred without the clumps of "Cajun" seasoning/bits. Have been wanting to try this place for a long time and finally got a chance. It turned out to be worth the anticipation. Food was great! Got addicted to their coconut rice instantly. It was perfectly made with well cooked rice and just the right amount of sweet and salty coconut milk. Chicken curry was a delight! Also tried their ribs and wings combo. The food was SO good. The ribs were fall off the bone delicious. The oxtail were nice BIG and meaty. They did not play around with the oxtail. The peas and rice had a beautiful aroma of coconut. The shrimp basket with fries was devoured by my child. The fries were perfect. The flatbread was very flavorful. And the wings were a generous size, smoked with great flavor. Mac and cheese was pretty good also. We would love to come back when there is good weather because the restaurant has a nice outdoor dining space. Inside has a few table for eating we were comfortable and the spot was clean. Service was pleasant, friendly, patient and attentive. My wife wanted us to come to this restaurant because it had been getting great review. Because they don't do reservations, we came another date which is today. We ordered from the menu and it was quick and easy. The lady at the registered had greeted us warmly and was knowledgeable about the menu and what was popular. We ordered Jerk chicken pasta, Curry chicken bowl, and wings. The cost was a little more expensive but after eating my meal I would say that it was well worth the extra cost. I enjoyed the pipped in Jamaican music and the place is very clean with outside sitting next door in a small courtyard. They only have one bathroom for guest that was very clean. The food arrived. My Curry Chicken was very good. Fresh and delicious. The bowl came with fresh mixed vegetables of broccoli, carrots, and squash. Usually I would get Calaloo but they don't carry this item yet. When we ordered the cashier said the menu was limited in some traditional items. The steamed vegetables were delicious and taste. The peas and rice were very good. Instead of using long grain rice the chef used Jasmine rice. A change that surprised me but I liked this change. I think the change added to the appeal of the meal and gave it a new spin on the Curry Chicken. All in all the Curry chicken is a win and I would by it again. Very nice. My wife had the Jerk Chicken Pasta she said her meal was also good and taste. We had ordered another plate for my son who was not with us but later he found it and said it was very good as well. We also had Jerk wings as an appetizer. They were cooked on a grill and smoked well and very taste. The sauce was good as well. My wife and I were both delighted and enjoyed the our meals. Got 12 wings with a side of veggies and was shorted a wing which I was sad about. I asked for them plain because I wanted some true grilled wings with a side of ranch but when I got them home (which I live 7 min away from the location) the wings weren't crispy like they been on a grill at all just smoked and had a char on them. They didn't have much flavor on them what so ever and to me where somewhat dry not as moist as I would have hoped.The veggies of the day were ok but I was told it comes wit broccoli, cabbage, carrots, and squash but honestly it's was more cabbage than anything, three pieces of broccoli, a few thin half moon slivers of carrots and I think maybe one piece of squash. My total was 26 dollars which was a lil high for the quality of what I got. The service wasn't bad but the lady who rang me up attitude could have been a little better. I finally had the opportunity to try the infamous Chef Bobby D's Restaurant this past weekend and let me tell you, it was well worth the wait! I placed my order for pickup through Grubhub from my home in Catonsville and my order was hot and ready as soon as I pulled up to their location. The inside of the restaurant is decorated tastefully, with a few tables for sit down service, but I am not sure if they allow dinning in during Covid. The staff young lady at the front desk was fairly friendly during the brief interaction I had with her. There were tons of to-go orders and the phones were ringing off the hook, so I am sure she was quite busy. My takeout order was packaged perfectly and the food smelled absolutely delicious! I couldn't wait to get it home to see if it tasted as good as it smelled. When I opened the takeout bag, I was surprised by how large the portions were. It is always a pleasant surprise when the price of a meal is reflective of the quality and the quantity. The food was cooked skillful and the flavors were bold and delectable. This feels like and looks more like a carryout spot that has a few tables. On yelp it appeared to be a restaurant, but that is not the vibe when you arrive. However, I must say the food was delicious, very flavorful and reasonably priced for the portion size. The service, well I would say there isn't much service. The cashier takes the order and brings the food to you and that is really it. I was very confused that this is described as Jamaican, but I went to the back near the kitchen door to request a beverage and all I seen was non-jamaicans in the kitchen. Anyways, I ordered the salmon rasta pasta, island mango drink and a sweet potato pie. The pasta meal was 5 stars, very creamy and flavorful and large portion. The mango drink is not homemade... It comes in a bottle and taste good, but has alot of sugar like most bottled drinks and I only know because of the bottle label, but it does not taste overly sweet. This place is a hidden gem! I had wanted to try this place for a while but never got around to it. Hubby and I stopped here for lunch and the food was amazing. The chicken Rasta pasta was sweet, spicy and savory. It was so good and the portion was huge. Hubby's jerk chicken was also amazing, large portion. My son's kids meal was a great portion too. The mac & cheese looked amazing but was underwhelming. The plantains were served as tostones, wish they were ripe & fried in chunks. Nice staff at the register. We loved the food so much we came back a few days later lol....The curry chicken was amazing (esp w/ the coconut rice), I wish it was served with rice and peas and cabbage though. Disappointed. Called Chef Bobby D's to purchase wings for my friend's birthday. Checked out the menu and prices on their website. I wanted the 16 wings for 22.95. When I called in the order the girl on the phone said, the price of 16 wings is 28.95. Then why does the website menu say the price is $22.95? And...who would pay basically $30.00 bucks for 16 wings? I am so disappointed .. I have grown to love this place but the last few orders have been terrible! Tonight I ordered the oxtail meal and maybe had 3 real oxtail, one was so fatty I wouldn't even consider it an oxtail.. the rest were these huge potatoes. I'm not sure if they have a new chef but it tastes different and they've just added more huge potatoes so you end up getting more potatoes instead of oxtail. 4.5 stars. We did takeout to celebrate MLK day and support Black owned business and the food was really good! I especially loved the blackened salmon and I don't even like salmon. The ribs and chicken wings were fabulous too. Huge portions, great prices, and the food was ready in the time frame they provided. So let's see.. I thought the food tasted ok. But just ok. Thai chili wings- they have a strong grilled flavor but there was a miss with the seasoning and perhaps with the texture. The skin was too chewy. I don't think I've ever had thai chili wings that were grilled and perhaps that's what I didn't like. Maybe the grilled flavor over powers the other flavors? They were ok.... My friend ordered the Sesame ginger wings and said the same thing. Side salad- was very fresh. Nothing special but i did enjoy that the lettuces were very fresh Sweet Tater tot- again they were ok. Small eat-in and carry out restaurant offering some big flavors. A single server covered the restaurant, but only 2 tables were taken on a Tuesday night. She was very attentive. I got the Cajun shrimp pasta which was bursting with flavor. I like spicy, and this dish did not disappoint. Also came with 5 relatively large shrimp. Hey, Yelp - Can we get a 6th star just to give to Chef BobbyD's? Please!? During COVID-19 my husband and I have been sticking with our usual local delights while trying to pick some new places. When we try somewhere new, we try not to judge too harshly, considering everything has to be delivered and not enjoyed fresh from their kitchen. We stumbled upon Chef BobbyD's one night and decided to place the order because they had a lot of variety, all sounding insanely delicious. We ordered (in no particular order because I couldn't pick a fav if I had to): Deep Fried Corn Nuggets - I insisted on these because of what I was reading on Yelp. My husband doesn't like corn, but sometimes, when it comes to food, it is easier to just roll with me if I am feeling passion for something. Long story short - we ended up fighting for the last one. These babies are so good. We got the dipping sauce (I live my life for dipping and condiments rule supreme for me) but honestly, I don't even know that the dipping sauce was necessary. These are sweet, savory, fried to perfection and honestly do not have a right to be that good. Jamaican Rasta Pasta - So when my husband saw this on the menu, he was sold on the place. He ate this dish growing up at one of his local spots in VA Beach but hadn't had it in years. This sh*t was FIRE. Spicy, but the right kind (if you are someone that can tolerate spice) with a ton of flavorful jerk chicken and the parm flavor just added another element of flavor. He devoured this, I was lucky to get two bites. He said it was better than is old spot (sorry to wherever that was). Ribs with mashed potatoes and cajun corn - If you order from here and do not get the ribs, shame on you. I cannot say enough. I cannot type out my feelings for these ribs because if I think about them, I will have to order them every night. And while that would be fun, I have already gained my quarantine 19 and am not looking to add to it. Guys, get the ribs and find a dining partner to order another dish, then share...bc ya need 'em. You really do. Mashed potatoes were good and cajun corn was a compliment to the ribs. I actually called this place after eating to gush to them about my food.
