I am finally getting to writing a review for Chef Chan's. I have been coming here for a few years now when I am in the mood for good Chinese. I usually get takeout, have ordered multiple different items, and never been disappointed. Recently I received a large order for several people and it was packaged really well and everyone enjoyed their meals. My go-to's are the pan fried chicken dumplings, hot and sour soup, pork fried rice, and general tsoas tofu. Amazing. The eat-in dining always looks nice and is usually full of folks. My family and I have been eating at Chef Chan's for decades. Not one complaint and many many enjoyable meals. Having eaten Chinese food in Manhatten, Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island, San Francisco, and many other places, Chef Chan's remain the best experience I've had in any of them. The food's spectacular (e.g., hot, fresh, plentiful) and the staff and owners are knowledgeable and genuinely friendly. If I could give Chef Chan's 20+ stars out of a possible 5, I would. Had takeout last night...it was ok. Nothing special. There are lots of glowing reviews here and I expected more. We had chicken lo-mein...didn't really care for it. Also had the general's chicken....it was average. Good flavor but they could tone down the breading and use more chicken. Also, didn't appreciate finding a hair in the dish. Lastly, we had the chicken dumplings (fried)...which was very good. I would be willing to try them again but honestly I don't see how people are giving this place such glowing reviews. read more

Recently moved to the area and I think we found our "go to" for Chinese and Sushi. Wife had a wonderful beef and scallop with vegetable. Good portion, very fresh food. I opted for the sashimi deluxe. Very fresh, nice presentation. Would definitely recommend this place. read more

My son, sister and myself have been coming here for years and only now just thinking about yelping. The home made food goes beyond the standard fare and is simply world class.. The chicken dumplings are works of art, the pork fried rice is so flavorful that I have to stop myself from eating that as my meal, and the sushi is masterfully prepared. I thought the last time I ate here was bad enough...how do you make fried rice mushy and tasteless?! That was seven years ago and I have stayed clear since. Got take-out recently---felt they deserved another chance since I have yet to find a decent place in the area for consistently good Chinese food. Well, sooo disappointing. The bbq ribs had no sauce and were tasteless. The egg roll was greasy. The hunan beef's spices were not tasty at all. Fried rice---a ball of mush. I don't write a lot of negative reviews, but I think it is necessary to write this one. The host was lovely and smiling, so I think that is the positive of this place. Just got Chan's delivered. Wanted something good on meatless Fridays during Lent. I'm a fan of sushi so checked out reviews and got the Spicy Tuna. Fresh and delish! Miso soup was full of flavor! Also ordered the shrimp toast and veggie spring rolls to share. They were a big hit with the office. This will be our new place to order! read more

I have been going to and ordering from (they deliver!) Samuel's & Chef Chan's Chinese & SUSHI Restaurant since I moved to Voorhees, which was at least over 10 years ago. The food is fantastic! Everything I've ever had over the years has always been made from fresh food. Chef Chan obviously has high standards when it comes to the food he serves! My favorite is their Pan-fried Chicken Dumplings, Steamed Chicken Dumplings, Chicken Spring Rolls, Chicken or Shrimp Fried Rice, General Tso's Spicy Chicken, Shrimp w/Lobster Sauce... so on and so on. Oh! And the Wonton Soup is perfect! Also, the house-made hot mustard is something I always request. They are reasonably priced, well, a tiny bit expensive but their quality of food is so fresh that it makes up for it. They leave a pot of hot tea on the table w/sweetener, and they constantly refill large glasses of ice water for free. They are BYOB, but they have canned soda. Unfortunately, it's not fountain soda, so no free refills. I get thirsty during my meals so I was a little surprised the first time i realized i was paying for each can of diet soda. While the seating area isn't that big, they have perfectly maximized the best use of the space they have and can still accommodate a large party or two, although i'd call ahead if that's the case. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. They have one side of the room lined with booths. And the back of each booth is highly risen, so much so that you can't tell if the booths on either side of you are occupied. Even though the seating room is fairly small and cozy, it's set up so that you still feel you can have a private dinner with your company. It's a family-owned restaurant as far as I know; Samuel and his wife, Mindy, know me and greet me by my first name whenever I stop in or call. There are other staff members, all of whom are wonderful (happy, courteous, helpful and joking or pleasant), who have been there for all the years I've been a customer. Everyone there works well together and it feels smooth, makes me feel at ease. If you're in the mood for some good, fresh, Chinese and/or SUSHI, come try Samuel's & Chef Chan's! I've watched them grow in popularity over the years. It wasn't uncommon years ago for me to be one of two parties eating at the restaurant at the same time. This A-OK American-Chinese style has a friendly owner and efficient delivery. We like the house special lo mein. Other favorites are beef and broccoli and eggplant with black bean sauce. We have been going there for years. The battered-and sauced dishes like the lemon/orange chicken are not overbattered, and the sauces are tasty. If you want Chinatown authentic, you'll probably be disappointed. If you want well-prepared Yankee-Cantonese style food, Samuel's will fit the bill. read more

If you want a great place to eat this is the place. The food is great and the atmosphere is friendly. Sam, the owner, knows most of his customers by name and greets them happily every time they come in. The rest of the staff is also always friendly and welcoming. I have not been to this restaurant in a couple of years. I recently visited again, it was exactly as I remembered it before. I was greeted by the same host . He is a very nice man, has a funny sense of humor. I think our server was the owner, not sure? He is nice as well. I had the lunch special: Hot-n'Sour soup, chicken with green beans and brown rice. I tried to convey that I also wanted to pay extra for a side of broccoli but that didn't go over to well...... I think I agitated him so I just said 'never mind' ...... The Hot-n'Sour soup was really good, one of the best! The entree was very tasy as well. I think Chef Chan's chineese food is very 'clean'....... and by 'clean' I mean not greasy, it's fresh, it sits well on the stomach. The only complaint I have is that like many Chinese restaurants, they often are to anxious/ quick to clear the plate and place the check on the table. Then again, I am not a regular & maybe they wanted to see me on my way out.... lol..... Anyway, I like this place & will return again. Best Chinese in the area. Nothing even comes close. I have eaten in and we order pick up all the time. Service and food is the best.

Skip the Japanese food here. Breaded teriyaki, sushi rice particularly heavy and miso soup so-so. Other food salty but otherwise ok.

Samuel, Mindy and staff make you feel so welcome. The food is always fresh,delicious and abundant. We do take out at least once a week and love the atmosphere when we do eat there with friends. The food reminds me of the Cantonese cooking my dad (I grew up in a Chinese restaurant) use to make. Everyone we have taken there has become loyal repeat customers. So happy to have them! This has been my third visit. And every time I have ordered pick up. The owners make you feel very welcomed. And they love to have conversations with you. Which is definitely a pleasant change from most restaurants in the area. Food is always steaming hot, and I must say this has to be the best Chinese food restaurant in the area. Pork fried rice is always delicious, has to be one of the best in the area. The dumplings steamed or pan friend are always cooked perfect. Never soggy. Their hot and sour soup is perfect. And I tried their wonton soup for the first time last night and I think I fell in love. Their food is never greasy and they give out huge portions. Definitely going to be my go to Chinese place. They haven't disappointed me at all with their food. The drive is worth is. I recommend this place 100% and give it three thumbs up! read more

This is my first Yelp review and I have made an account here for the sole purpose of sharing my thoughts. I have tried every Chinese food restaurant in the Voorhees area after moving to an apartment here two years ago and the most consistent and highest quality Chinese food is easily found here at Chef Chan's. Samuel and Mindy are two of the nicest people and greet you by name every time I call ahead or walk in the door. You can tell they value what they do and enjoy the people they serve and it shines through in the food they make and the restaurant they run. I am actually moving to a house in Stratford but will be making the trip here whenever my girlfriend and I get a taste for Chinese food. Highly recommended! read more

For the 2nd week in a row have waited over an hour for delivery. After using them for 25 years, NO MORE!

This is my first review, as I felt strongly enough about my last experience that I had to share it. We had been to Chef Chan's in Voorhees several times before, ordering teriyaki chicken, General Tso's, a garlic chicken with cashews and beef with broccoli. We also invited some family on one occasion for a large party. So we like the people there, and I would have rated those meals pretty decently. But this last meal I ate was well below standard. We had asked on the phone for less broccoli this time, as the last order was full of it with only a few piece of beef. Well, last night it came much the same way. The chicken dish I ate was very bland indeed. There was nothing to enliven the dish in the spices (I had asked for an extra spicy one). Everything tasted like it had been a long time in the freezer and then prepared for us extremely quickly. Even our soups were bland and tasted old. Afterwards, I didn't feel as though we just had restaurant quality cuisine at all. So there we are.. and we are sorry for losing one of our dining spots. read more
