There is something to be said about the perfect combination of an open kitchen and the Chef preparing food right before your very eyes. It delights me to no end actually. I always watch in wonder as they take both care and time to prepare culinary masterpieces. I walked away with something "extra" after beholding both talent and true commitment as Chef Skip prepared and presented the very best to make our mouths water and our taste buds jump for joy! I admittedly found that to be my favorite part of my lunch experience if I were to be truly honest...and the lunches we partook were exceptionally good and flavorful! It seems this is a local hot spot, and I could clearly see why in so many different ways. Having a prime location with "ambiance" is overrated. So prepare for a no frills (but it's all about the food) meal out. To see someone really care about the food they prepare for their clientele and making sure their customers leave happy speaks volumes to me. My husband and I thanked the Chef personally prior to leaving, and I think it's important to make sure we thank those who truly do their best and really work hard at what they do daily as they take pride in every dish they put out. The only drawback for me was the loud tv that took away from talking and hearing each other aspect, so having a nice peaceful lunch out wasn't completely possible because the extreme loudness of the the huge flatscreen that could definitely be heard by ALL in the eatery. Ah! Other then that (thus the reason for the 4 star instead of the 5), this was all a girl could ask for in a great lunch out. For those who don't mind a loud tv, this won't bother you a bit. I will say though that I could have asked for them to turn in down and I didn't. So you could partially blame the loud lunch on me for saying nothing. I have a feeling if I had made a kind request to turn it down a bit, they would have. I didn't though because I saw how the group of men who were on a much needed lunch break seemed to be thoroughly enjoying the movie that was on. I just didn't feel it had to be that loud to be enjoyed by those who wanted to hear it. Overall, though it was a great meal out. The Chef was my highlight of the lunch out. As you may be able to ascertain from my post and check in's, you would conclude that I love seafood. It's my go to, my comfort food sort of speak. There are two Chef Skip 757 one in Va beach and one in Portsmouth. We were closer to Portsmouth and decided to try them out. My attraction was 4 stars, even if only 56 views at the time. Small store front in a strip center that you can access in one direction only. At first sight I must say I was a little nervous. Windows were covered with wrap that tinted the sun light but also prevented view into the restaurant. They are practicing COVID-19 awareness with the exception of mask on the employees. However, customers were wearing them and no dining inside, nor was there access to restrooms. Decor could use a makeover but with all that said the food made up grounds for anything you think was negative about this post. The Mrs. had a cheesesteak and shrimp plate, added clams. I noticed that they did not toast their bread but she said it was very soft and fresh. She ate the four jumbo shrimps, clams and half the steak sub before surrendering to being full I had the shrimp and clams platter add fish sub. The seafood was hot, well seasoned, fresh and delicious. As I stated earlier the food made up for anything you read as negative. I didn't meet Chef Skip but his brother runs the Portsmouth location. My only complaint would be that they are on the pricey side for fast food. This has been another interesting adventure. I will try the Va Beach location next time. read more

The most unassuming storefront in a pretty unassuming shopping center. Walk inside and it's very bare bones and not at all "comforting." But the magic going on behind that counter in that kitchen will make you forget about everything else. I got the Seven City's Platter (a huge no filler crab cake, 4 jumbo fried shrimp, a massive piece of fried fish, and fries). The crab cake was more like a softball of pure lump meat, the shrimp were excellent. I'm usually not a fan of fried fish but this piece of fish was fall apart tender and the breading wasn't too heavy. The fries were better than most. The thing that really puts the extra oomph in the meal though....the skip sauce. Get extra, heck, get 2 or 3 extra servings. Dip everything in it, or go all out and pour it over everything. Ordered a Shrimp PO Boy and a Steak Philly for delivery and both were AMAZING! The Po Boy had 5 or 6 huge breaded and fried shrimp on there, as well as cabbage and a kind of remoulade sauce. Very tasty! The Steak Philly had a good amount of well-seasoned shaved steak and cheese. I also had them put both Hot and Sweet peppers on it. It was also just plain delicious. Both meals came with seasoned fries, which were also good but a little cold. However, that was mostly the fault of the delivery driver who took a long time to deliver the order.
