Fried Cheese Medallions & The Godfather Panino

Chef Tony Macaroni is back in action and serving up his amazing food!!! Amazing new spot, same great menu, and certainly a must try! His homemade cheese medallions and The GodFather Panino were amazing. Fresh ingredients, quality products and SOOOO much food. You're missing out if you haven't eaten here.

I decided they today was an excellent day to take a ride down to Gunn highway and see Chef Tony's new place. I started with some fried ravioli, which was top notch. Buttery, oozy cheese, fresh and delicious. The sausage, peppers and onion sandwich is also amazing. Honestly you can't get this sandwich anywhere else in Tampa, it's definitely the most authentic style I've had. The side salad --- dear lord almighty! His croutons are the best period. Ingredients are fresh. You can t go wrong with the food here at all. They are working on moving into a permanent building by this summer, and I hope that goes well for Tony and his staff!

My hairstylist tipped me into searching for 'chef owned restaurants' in search of higher quality menu items. Located right behind Lowry park zoo inside an American legion it was easy to miss. As you enter there is a small opening to order / pickup and what looks to be an outdoor dining area . When asked over the phone when the order would be ready her response was 'i don't know it's being cooked now' I like to be organized with my sons after school and sports schedule so that threw me off a bit . We had the chicken parmigiana 3/5 ,meatball with spaghetti (4/5) I would ask for light sauce as it's very heavy and felt more soup based . Mussels 5/5 cooked to perfection and sauce was light yet flavorful . Chicken wings were nicely seasoned however still raw in the middle . A burger which I figured how can you go wrong with a burger . My son stated it tasted like cardboard in addition to being still raw as well . Overall I really liked the flavors but combined with the customer service experience and uncooked food i probably won't be coming back for safety reasons.

I have seen so much hype around Chef Tony Macaroni, I knew I needed to take my husband with me to finally try it! My fellow Instagram foodies- fourfoodfreaks, getinmybellytampa and feedingtampabaes were not wrong on this recommendation! An absolute gem of a top tier culinary spot hidden in the Seminole Heights American Legion! Savory Italian dishes just like nonna used to make right here friends! We started with the fried raviolis, served with Chef Tony's tangy pomodoro sauce and the cheesy garlic bread topped with his hand pulled fresh mozzarella- yes I said fresh made mozzarella!!! That being said, I really needed more of the housemade mozz so I ordered the chicken parmigiana with fettuccine- absolutely divine! Mr. Lombardo (see how I planted the fact we actually know what good Italian food should taste like!) had the macaroni bolognese and lapped it up!! He was a good husband and gave me several roasted garlic cloves he found in his sauce- he knows garlic is my favorite vegetable! It was sweet, buttery and melted in my mouth! I tried his dish and he tried mine and came to the conclusion this was the best Italian food we've had all year ;) Seriously, it was the best we've had in a LONG time! We finished our Italian feast with the cannolis- mama Mia- spectacular! I was a bit leary when I saw it tucked in the American Legion but it was honestly super fun and friendly in there! Great music, cheap drinks, casino games and pool!! TampaFoodMom will definitely be back!

A true hidden Gem! Located inside the American Legion building that is open to the public! (Closed Sunday and Monday) Plentiful parking available. You can dine in, order delivery or to-go. Portion sizes are huge! Love the sliced HOMEMADE mozzarella salad as an appetizer and the fried cheese medallions (perfect cheese pulls!) The menu has a variety of options-sandwiches, burgers, salads, heroes, and a wide selection of macaroni (pasta) such as seafood, chicken and meat. My favorites were the penne alla vodka and the chicken parmigiana. Don't forget to save room for the cannolis for dessert!

My favorite Italian in town, it's literally so affordable and the portions are insane. Tabitha and Chef Tony are so kind and caring, you can really tell they have such a passion for food.

Perfect hole in the wall restaurant, located right inside Seminole post. Walking past you might miss it but luckily it's open to the public and you don't need to be a member or a veteran to enjoy it. it's also on all the major delivery sites if you can't make it inside. Amazing tasting pasta, even better cannolis. When you go you MUST try the chicken parm, fried mozzarella, and cannolis because holy mother Theresa ‍ tastes like how i imagine a true Italian in italy would cook. absolutely delicious!

Ordered the chicken parm and the eggplant parm. The sauce was sickly sweet, and ruined both dishes. Very unfortunate.

As with our first visit (my first review is somewhere below), everything was phenomenal. We chose a few different items this time to share and were again impressed with each. We love that you order your entire meal at once and the staff perfectly courses out the meal for you. Last night, we had the waygu carpaccio, the tableside mozzarella, cappallacci al'aragosta (lobster pasta), pesce alla ligure (branzino), and the bistecca (waygu beef strip). The carpaccio was absolutely fantastic. The mushroom "relish" under the beef was the star accompaniment with its salty goodness. The tableside mozzarella was unique and probably the best cheese I've ever had. It is made fresh tableside and then plated as a nice caprese salad with yummy, locally grown tomatoes, flaky sea salt, basil, Spanish olive oil and aged balsamic vinegar. Simply incredible. The lobster pasta was inventive and tasty. This was coursed out between the mozzarella and our main dishes and was the perfect way for each of us to try it. The waygu beef strip was cooked to perfection (med rare), sliced and plated with some crispy beef fat bits (hubby loved!), a chimichurri sauce and roasted garlic. The steak was absolutely delicious and the chimichurri sauce was a nice addition. The branzino was the highlight of the dinner again. Presentation of the entire fish with the crispy potatoes, olives, and chef-served sauce is simply incredible. The fish with the sauce is such a wonderful, flavorful combination that I believe it is the best fish I've ever had. For dessert we ordered the apple tart and pistachio gelato. Both were wonderful but the pistachio gelato was phenomenal. The lemon zest on top, the honey drizzle and the added crunch of the pistachio pieces sprinkled overtop made for an absolute perfect bite everything. Everything we have tried here has been stellar and it isn't difficult to understand why they are Michelin rated. Ambiance, service, food quality and portions are all expertly executed. Rocca is now in our regular rotation and we already cannot wait to go back!

The restaurant itself is nicely laid out with a nice bar and large walk in wine room. As we only saw the main dining area that's where my description stops. Ok, we always get that "server" for our meals. He was inattentive and had no personality at all. I watched the other tables and the servers interacting with the guests and checking on them frequently, our guy not so much. He did spend more time at his other tables and even though they were seated after us, seemed to be handled and served before us. Next the place had many managers milling about as I counted 5 or 6 constantly moving about the Resteraunt. Not one ever made an attempt to stop by our table during our service. I find that a huge negative for a Michelin Star designated restaurant. One note the table next to us of six sat down and for some reason the managers flocked onto that table all smiles and giggles so I'm guessing that was some VIP worthy of their attention. Let's talk food and drink now the bar menu selection is good and priced in par with other restaurants but it did have some high end offerings available. Menu is good not large but some good offerings. Bread service was good at $8.00 for 2 pieces of sourdough and two focaccia. The mozzarella cart was most likely the best part of the service. The server was engaging and it's interesting to watch the process (which we do at home and are familiar with it). The Tagliolini with Ragu was good the Angnolotti fair. We expected a better experience and left somewhat disappointed by the visit. On the bill there is a charge listed as a facility fee. Not quite sure what that is but it was 2% of the bill so why argue over it.

We were able to do it tonight and share the experience with our son who lives in the area. Wow - this definitely rises to the top tier of restaurants in the area that we would love to go back to on a future trip! Absolutely everything that we ordered was top-notch quality and delicious! We started by sharing the Arancini al Burro (see picture) along with the Toasted Gnocchi (see picture). Both looked great on the plate and were even better once dipped heavily in the sauce and tasted! For our main courses, my wife ordered the Casarecce "Rinaldi" (see picture) and my son and I shared the Veal Scaloppine Milanesa (see picture) with 3 added Large Meatballs (see picture). Richard, our server, recommended the additional meatballs and it was a great call. As we always do, we shared tastes of all of the dishes and all of us raved about all of them If you found this review helpful, please Share, Follow & Like.

The third time we were concerned, a little piece of glass had fallen in our food. The server and the manager were nice but the manager seemed to think that the solution was for the servers to slow down. That doesn't make sense to me but ok. They did remake a plate to go for us, so that was nice. The food was a little meh to me. The short ribs could have used some salt or seasoning before making the ravioli's (same with the chicken parm) just a suggestion. Pasta tasted undercooked and as if it was box pasta. I've lived in nyc and have had some really good Italian food there so I'm a little critical. I think Olivia is a little more hype and a nice ambiance for being in south Tampa than good food.
