3/30/26 FYI. Lunch. Over ordered as usual.
    Lee D.

Quality/Quantity - As usual, we (my guest) over ordered. She just loves left overs. Today we got the following: Gyoza - Decent portions, my guests favorite. Well, until she added the pancakes to our order after seeing it at our neighbor's table. Scallion Pancakes - Done and fried well. My guest ate 1.5 of them, lol. This actually became her lunch... Lunch Specials - Spicy Oil Beef Noodles - Good and with generous quantities. If you are following, my other guests ordered the exact same thing for dinner at Bei Fang Style Restaurant. This was slightly better than the dinner version. Tomato and Egg Noodles - Good, except my guest barely touched this. She preferred the pancakes and gyoza. And as light eaters, this became an extra entree for her tonight. Our neighbor ordered the seafood udon, I almost ordered this. After seeing it and the neighbor raving about it, I will get this next time. The neighbor also got the special pork feet over rice - This looked VERY good also. Again, a next time visit. Ambiance - Small two story local business. Open 7 days a week from 11am to 2am. Street metered parking. Service - Overall good. The waitress (owner?) did NOT speak English. Good thing the friendly couple next to us translated for us. Price - $37 + tip. Inexpensive for SF prices! Cash only for lunch specials. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2025. This was so close to being a 5 star review. I look forward to coming back and upgrading this review.

This place opens late night with spicy food to light up your early early morning. I felt like I was in Northern China with the spartan interior, simple and few tables. The tough looking server brings you hot water to drink. Ask him what he likes and he says all with a dislike for veggies. LOL. We went around 1am and were the only table dining in. Three take out orders while we were there, thus they have the local late night business cornered. Had: - Lamb Skewers, grilled with Cumin - Beef Roll, two large rolls cut into eight large slices with beef, greens, and a light sweet sauce - Sichuan Spicy Cold Noodles, if you ever watch videos of foreigners dining in China on Sichuan pepper corn dishes, they speak of tongue tingling numbness, we asked for mild, and we still felt the tingle, nice! - Eggplant in Spicy Fish Sauce... spicy Overall, we'll be back to try their extensive grill, sautéed, and fried menu items. Likely at a more decent hour but good to know they're open late...

    Ordered spicy wontons. They weren't.

Gave it a try when I wanted spicy Szechuan. First - lackluster service. I know in places like this they don't kill you with kindness but I felt unwelcome when I walked in, the place was empty. I picked a table and was told I could t sit there. Five minutes later two guys come in and sit at that spot. No hard copy menus, you have to use a QR code. Only option was to go, I guess they are telling me something. The food was ok, I ordered shrimp and got 6-8 large ones, well prepared but not spicy at all. I asked for chili sauce and that was mild too. Ambiance is spartan. Clean but minimal. They claim to stay open late but I noticed two different closing times posted. I think it depends on if they're busy. In short- rude, no spice, decent portion.

Satisfying late night option if you're in the area. I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to eat here, but it hits the spicy, greasy spot in your cravings. Know how to use salt, sugar and fat to make things taste good.

Everything we had at Chef Xiong Kitchen was great. Portions were huge and a great value. I loved the Sichuan cold noodles which were very flavorful, and the fish flavored eggplant was also delicious. The Sichuan twice cooked pork was super crispy, and the whole fish was great. They also provided complimentary boiled peanuts and hot tea. Service was friendly and fast. It's a casual spot and a great place to come with a group. I'll definitely be back to try other dishes!

Great spot for authentic Chinese dishes. They have an upstairs seating so the restaurant fits a lot more people than you think. I enjoyed the eggplant dish the most -- all the other dishes we got were similar in that they had numbing spice but the eggplant dish had a different flavor that I enjoyed a lot! Service was super friendly, quick, and the menu is expensive. They also do hotpot and skewers and it's open quite late. Would come back to try other dishes on the menu! It's a good spot for bigger groups too.

Overall, very tasty restaurant! The green peppercorns boiled fish was spicy, numbing, and savory. The broth was very flavorful. Regular spicy was a bit too much for my personal taste so I would get less spicy in the future. The sliced beef and tendon was well marinated with a lot of garlic, slightly sweet. Regular spicy was good. The skewer meat were on the fatty side and quite salty. The chicken wings were crispy on the outside and juicy within. There was no wait for a table (party of 2) for a Sunday dinner. However, it did take longer for our food to be ready after submitting our order through the online menu. The restaurant had four tables on the first floor and more seatings on the second floor.

Great combination: small rice, boiled filet (fresh, herbal, fragrant, mildly spicy, wood eared, and a mala mouthfeel), and cucumber salad (sweet, crunchy, nutty). The couple at the table next to mine recommended this combo, they even gave me a bowl of theirs to sample first. Highly rated! Ah, clement my old stomping ground.

Came for the Cumin lamb and beef. Such a steal at the price with the big portion they give you. Flavorful and the spice is fantastic.

I stumbled upon Chef Xiong in the Richmond, and I'm so glad I did. This is a low-key, no-frills spot doing Sichuan, hotpot, and Mongolian, and it feels unapologetically authentic. On this visit I stuck with the Sichuan side of the menu and left extremely happy. I ordered the fish with pickled vegetables and the classic spicy chicken, and both were outstanding. The flavors were bold, deeply savory, and confidently spicy, with that proper numbing heat that lingers in the best way. The fish was tender and soaked up the broth beautifully, and the spicy chicken delivered exactly what it promises, crisp pieces coated in chile and peppercorn that didn't hold back. If you're someone who actually wants real heat and mala flavor, this place absolutely delivers. Service was another highlight. The woman owner was warm, friendly, and genuinely attentive without hovering, which made the whole experience feel welcoming. The dining room itself is simple and unadorned, but that honestly works in its favor here. I'd rather a straightforward space with food this good than anything trying too hard visually. One final detail that really sets Chef Xiong apart is the hours. It's rare to find a solid sit-down spot in San Francisco that's open past 10 pm, and this makes it a clutch late-night option when most kitchens are already closed. Between the authenticity, the spice level, and the hospitality, this may have just become my new favorite Sichuan spot in the city.

Have been this restaurant couple times with my friends, the service really good, treat us likes family!!! And the dishes never make us disappointed! Tonight we ordered "Home Made Grilled Fish", it's bring you to heaven

    Hometown Bacon Fried Garlic Sprouts

Everything on the menu looked a little too good, so we went a little overboard with ordering. The food was excellent with no misses. Food was presented nicely in pretty dishes and decorations! My favorites: -lamb ribs: the skin's sooo thin and crispy -chilly pig ears: mildly spicy, not very numbing, crunchy -leshan sweet skin duck: such a refreshing sweet piece after having fatty oily duck for the longest I can rmb -Coriander fish fillet: they use a fermented rice wine sauce which pairs perfectly with rice -Brown sugar glutinous rice cakes: can't go wrong, perfect dessert/snack after a spicy meal, addicting to eat Service was attentive! Looking forward to being back again to try the other dishes on the menu!

Updated review. Food still consistently delicious. Recently went in-person and ordered delivery on DD and the food quality remained 10/10 and portions were hefty.

The Spicy Garlic Pork with vegetables was HOT and there was no escape: Like an opponent's chess pieces trying to grab your king, one bite after the next puts you in jeopardy. It was a good kind of peril. The Chow Mein Select noodles with lots of fresh crunchy vegetables was nicely executed with firm, plump chow mein. It was a very generous helping. I thanked my stars for the relief of white rice. The quart of hot and sour soup will have to wait until tomorrow, so much delicious food. For vegetarians, lots of menu options for you as well as those looking for unique dumplings and lots of offal dishes for those who crave it.
