This is my go to spot in the city when I'm craving authentic Sichuan food. Tucked in the heart of Chinatown, this place delivers a punchy, numbing spice that's hard to find anywhere else in town. I usually get takeout or delivery, but the food really shines when you dine in. First off..this is a Sichuan restaurant so Skip the dim sum and orange chicken, that's not what you come here for so don't order it and then complain they're not good. My favorites: Flaming Chili Oil Beef and Flaming Chili Oil Fish. The meat is perfectly "velveted," giving it that smooth, slippery texture that soaks up the hot oil and chili flavors. Each bite hits with layers of heat, garlic, and Sichuan peppercorns that tingle and numb your tongue. the kind of burn that makes you want to keep eating even tho you're sweating like crazy. They can tone down the spice if you ask, but I'd recommend keeping it medium or higher; the mild version loses a lot of the oil which is key to the overall experience. The Sour Pickled Fish. It's not the bright red kind of spicy, but it sneaks up on you with tangy, mouth watering broth full of pickled mustard greens, Thai chilis, and that signature Sichuan mala numbing. It's sour, savory, and deeply umami, the kind of dish that wakes up your whole palate If you can, eat in. The dishes come bubbling hot and the aromas fill the table which is way better than eating out of a takeout container, where the oil separates and the textures get a little lost.

I've ordered from this place dozens of times and I've always ordered the same exact dish...the Braised Crispy Chicken with Chili Oil. OMG, that dish so insanely good. I can't speak about any other dish they serve but that one dish alone makes this an easy 5 star restaurant.
The food I had delivered to my residence from this Chinese restaurant on 501 broadway was delicious. The chicken dish was very tasty and a little spicy just like the way I love it. The chicken chow main was finger licking delicious as well. I may order some food from this place again someday. The service was nice and the ambiance was great from the pictures. I give them 5 stars. I wish I can give them 30 stars .
Recently ordered takeout delivery from this restaurant and it was surprisingly delicious. Also, it came with this really cute bag. Now I want to try dine in one of these days. We like all the food we ordered, especially the beef chow fun. Yum! Located near what used to be (is it still?) the red-light district, on Broadway and Kearny.
This place is ripping customers/ consumers off. $22 almost $25 bucks for an order of General Tso Chicken alone. It sounds about right for a family order but then when I received my order it's a completely different picture. Theres enough chicken for maybe 1 adult and 1 child. Maybe? These restaurants in SF need to stop getting away with giving people less food while charging high prices. They use small cheap containers and think it's ok to manipulate delivery's or take out that way. I would have more positive things to say if my money and time was respected by this restaurant.
I've been noting how NYC has more Szechuan food than San Francisco. Located on the edge of Chinatown near North Beach, Little Szechuan satisfies. I've had them catered for work events, and I've had their takeout, and I've had them via Doordash. I like Little Szechuan's mapo tofu, xiao long bao, tan tan noodles, bbq pork chow mein, fried string beans, spicy wontons, and general tso's. Good meat, seasonings, sauces, and flavor. They have a pretty large menu. Takeout also comes in a very nice bag and packaging.
This restaurant has over 20k positive reviews on DoorDash for a reason, it is the best takeout in the city! The quality of meats and ingredients is clear. The care for takeout orders is even better! I received a re-usable INSULATED bag for my order alongside sauces and individualized, sanitized utensils for my family. This attention to detail is something I have never seen for takeout -- and honestly makes me excited to visit in person! They are just as generous with their servings as they are with prep!
We ordered delivery from Little Szechuan and it was delicious, fast, and hot! It came in an adorable reusable bag. Lil Szech has plenty of vegan and vegetarian options to choose from. Prices are fair for the portions. And ample cutlery and diverse sauces are provided. The only issues I had was that rice is not included in the meals, so make sure you order a side of rice if you want it. And the Crispy Tofu in Chili Oil isn't tossed in sauce. While delicious, the description is somewhat deceiving. The potstickers are chunky bois, and really tasty as well. Lil Szech is definitely worth a try!
Mongolian Beef is tender and a filling portion. The spice level was just right with a nice heat build as I kept eating. Side of rice is extra. Staff is friendly though note a hands off approach. There are QR codes for the menu at each table for ordering. Water carafes set at the table for self serve which is convenient. Space has lots of tables and lively popular music playing in background.
I ordered take out in the past and really loved it, but it has been awhile and wanted to try again. I ordered bbq pork and beef and broccoli. Sadly, I was disappointed with both. 1. Beef and broccoli: The beef was sliced thin like how you would prepare hot pot. I am not used to this quality. But overall flavor was good. 2. Bbq pork: the pork was thinly sliced, tough and dry. It ate like jerky with not much of a taste.
Amazing spot for Szechuan food in SF! Such friendly and attentive service, pretty casual dining where you order off a QR code menu. Nice decor inside, the place has a lot of character and feels very cozy. I got the Braised Crispy Chicken W. Red Chili Oil, Braised String Bean, Seafood Pan Fried Noodle. All three dishes were great, but the chicken was my favorite. Very flavorful, perfect blend of savory with a little spice and ratio of batter to meat. Definitely will order this every time I'm here. Loved the spices on the string beans as well, and the portion of seafood and veggies given on the noodles. Also tried their Honey Walnuts Prawn and Veg Hot Sour Tofu Soup. Soup was good, prawns had a little too much mayo on them for my taste but were also good. Would love to try their Seafood Sizzle Rice Soup next time, definitely will return!

Update!! Little Szechuan now has Hot Pot!! I went there for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the new decor. They still have the same great dishes you have loved but now they have Hot Pot. I used to really love their Szechuan Fish Soup and Crispy Pork Intestine--both were so flavorful and delicious that I used to come here almost every week. About two months ago, I was in Chinatown and suddenly missed the taste, so I decided to come back. Unfortunately, the experience was very different this time. The flavors seemed to have changed, and the dishes were much too salty compared to what I remembered. The portions also felt noticeably smaller, which made the meal feel less worth the price. It was disappointing because this used to be one of my favorite spots, and I really hope they can bring back the original flavors and quality that I loved. read more

Don't change a thing, the spice level is perfect! Sincerely, I'd like to meet the people who think Little Szechuan goes easy on the heat because to me, it's a blast of mala spice and numbing sensation- and I have a high tolerance. The Spicy Garlic Pork with vegetables was HOT and there was no escape: Like an opponent's chess pieces trying to grab your king, one bite after the next puts you in jeopardy. It was a good kind of peril. The Chow Mein Select noodles with lots of fresh crunchy vegetables was nicely executed with firm, plump chow mein. It was a very generous helping. I thanked my stars for the relief of white rice. The quart of hot and sour soup will have to wait until tomorrow, so much delicious food. For vegetarians, lots of menu options for you as well as those looking for unique dumplings and lots of offal dishes for those who crave it. Ambience is fresh, polished, non-touristy yet in the very heart of Chinatown where this is not always guaranteed. Locals and visitors alike, bookmark this restaurant. The spot is a fun little Chinese restaurant. You do have to order from a QR code which is a huge pain (i do not like because no menus). But portions are really big and the chicken was pretty tasty. We also got the Westlake soup and it was my favorite!! Not a bad spot for some chinese food read more

In town for an annual conference and a long walk, uphill, both ways. In SF, that's totally possible, by the way. I found myself at the Hilton on the edge of Chinatown, and despite being on a ridiculously strict diet, decided (in the words of Dr. Emmet Brown): "Well, I figured-- what the hell?" A cursory check of Yelp revealed this restaurant just a short walk up the street. Almost out of fruit from my trip to "Dateway" near Ft. Mason (IYKYK), I called in my order and walked slowly up the street. Upon my arrival, I found the restaurant pretty much deserted. Signs of the COVID-times "to-go" set up were still evident here, perhaps a clean transition to supporting a healthy delivery business here. Food: ordered a hot & sour soup, and Mongolian beef. The soup was missing my favorite ingredient, wood ear fungus. Didn't find any shitake in there, either. Or chicken. Broth was appropriately hot and sour, though. Felt very "end of shift, and we aren't making more" in the scoop. Mongo-Beef was better: good spice, good portion. Ambiance and service: when I walked in, I was directed to pay at the self-serve credit card station. This did not print me any kind of itemized receipt, which is a bit of a bummer when you eat for business with a reimbursement account. Oh well. Still good I guess. Notably, the restaurant is on the corner within 30 seconds of no fewer than three adult themed stores: strip clubs, an XXX movie/book place, and some sort of toy store-- not the kind you would find Woody and Buzz in, but then, again... Well, never mind.... Gotta keep this family-friendly for Yelp. Would totally eat here again, but probably spring the extra three bucks for someone to bring it to my hotel... even if they had a few bites on the short drive. read more

This is by far the worst Chinese food I've had in the U.S.! It's insanely salty, like they just poured soy sauce all over the rice noodles. The pork kidney is still raw and in huge chunks! Totally disappointing! read more

I would say it's a not bad place to go if you want some Szechuan food, value is good, we somehow ordered lunch specials, and they come with rice. Beef we ordered is pretty thin but with the price, I feel like there's not much to complain. They also have orange chicken surprisingly haha, but it's ok, tastes fine. Shredded potatoes wasn't bad, but since we got the lunch special, portion wise is smaller than a large dish, but acceptable we still share the food. In total we ordered three meals and there are three of us, not bad at all. This place is quite busy even tho we are almost the only table there, but they constantly have ppl ordering takeout, online orders. Servers are busy but helpful. It's actually quite a cool place too, they have some Chinese decorations inside, pretty good experience! read more

Does the job, convenient location, very fast, but not the best Chinese food you can find. However, for the value and convenience - I'll take it Options are endless - the menu fill up a whole book! So there will definitely be something for everyone, from savory to spicy and sweet I've ordered the tomato and eggs (it's one of my favorite dishes of all times) and I was impressed by the portion, but not happy with the red food coloring that is put in the dish. My eggs were red - that wasn't the most appetizing. From a taste perspective, it was a little bit too sweet for my liking Also have tried the black sesame glutinous rice balls, which wasn't the best and I will not order again. I get that these were boiled from frozen ones, but it tasted like these rice balls were in the freezer for too long because parts of the boiled rice balls were dry, not tasty at all! I do give kudos to Little Szechuan for their beautiful packaging (the to-go bag is cute and functional), extensive menu, and speedy service read more

if you're craving something spicy or packed with flavor, I'm going to have to put you on to @littleszechuansf not only do they serve up all the classic chinese dishes, but they also have a variety of specialty szechuan dishes that will surely blow you away! the flavor of the firefrom the wok with all the yummy seasonings really hit the spot (+ the food came out so fast) i was so surprised that this spot didn't have many people dining inside despite its flavor-packed dishes, so make sure to go and show this hidden gem some love read more

Ate in house. Wow! Food was ready super fast. (QR code menu) Szechuan beef was the winner. Honey walnut prawns could have used sauce. The to-go traffic is heavy. Service was good. read more
I only got their take out but it was just delicious. Their soups both had a great serving size with a good amount of meat. The broth was both flavorful and spicy (not overpowering though I did only get base spicy). The pork chops were still crispy even with the delivery time. While the pork chops by themselves weren't spicy, they had some dry rub, onions and peppers that you could scoop up and place on them that added a kick for sure. Always enjoy Asian style vegetables. The green beans weren't undercooked and too hard or over cooked and too mushy. They also had great flavor though definitely the least spicy of all the dishes. The takeout also comes in a great reusable bag that I've used more than a few times for other things and I think May contribute to how the food stays warm during the delivery. Great place that I would definitely be interested in going into if I see it and definitely will order take out from it again. read more
