    Valuable Michelin mention
    Jennifer O.

We weren't paying attention and pushed inside one restaurant. One quick scan, left. Wrong door. My son didn't see my cue and I had to text him to leave and go a few doors down to Sichuan Home where I'd just been seated, a beautiful oasis offering classic Sichuan dishes. The food was sensational and we felt spoiled by the experience: The owner gracefully and graciously served us won ton soup and we enjoyed every crisp bite of dry fried green beans. Super spicy beef in red chili sauce was the perfect counterpoint to honey walnut prawns, an indulgent dish. The restaurant was elegant and tastefully decorated. The Michelin recommendation impressed me and they deserve it. If you're looking for spicy done right, get the beef in red chili sauce that'll challenge your palate but allow you to taste the dish. It's a fine balance and they nailed it. This review reminds me to return!

    11. Shredded Chicken in Pepper Sauce
    Bry H.

Food is fine, but... FOOD: Shredded chicken in pepper sauce - 4/5 It is a cold dish, NUMBING more than spicy, which is fun, we like it. Beef chow fun - 4/5 Decent flavor, nothing particularly outstanding Dry fried shrimp, lamb, veggie combo - 4/5 Good flavor - shrimp come with shells, which is fine, shell has all the flavoring. Lamb pieces are small and shredded, you will have to dig around for them. Generously amount of potato slices, lotus root slices, bean sprouts, and mushroom. SERVICE: (Here is the tea!) Assuming she is the manager/owner (the lady in short hair), she checked on us to see if we were ready to order. She then started recommending dishes. According to her, they a celebrating a Chinese festival so the crab or lobster are half off. Well I didn't show interest (simply because I find crab and lobster too much work), my husband on the other hand was asking questions about them. Then he asked if I want to do it, I said I don't want it, but up to him. So he said no to the lady, because I was not up for it. The lady of course didn't take no for an answer, so she continued to sell it to my husband and said "oh but you are interested right? It's great price ($50). It's our special today" But we insisted we don't want it. And ordered the three dishes we want to try. The lady probably thought I don't speak Chinese. She complained to her coworker in Chinese saying how I didn't want the crab and so my husband couldn't order it even though he was very much interested. Sort of saying it's my fault that we didn't go for the $50 crab dish. I'm sure not everyone would get the dish every time she sells it. But because she was talking about me behind my back, I have to knock out one star from the experience. So meh on the service. She seems nice otherwise as she is passionate with her recommendations.

Dan Dan noodles + pork $16.50

Sichuan Home has been a previous Michelin star winner and I can see why after trying out 6 of their most popular dishes: Sichuan style spicy chicken $15.95 classic battered fried chicken chunks, these were crunchy crispy and full of flavor Roast cumin lamb chop $22.95 I'm a sucker for lamb but never had lamb chops quite like this! It almost looked like bbq pork ribs but my oh my that cumin seasoning was magic dust Chefs special fish stew + tofu $26.95 not everything at Sichuan Home is spicy and this fish stew is so delicious, even spice lovers won't miss the spiciness Dan Dan noodles + pork $16.50 this is your typical recipe and I wasn't all that impressed so I would SKIP THIS! Duck and beer sauce $22.95 what an interesting dish that I've never seen before. You can't actually taste any beer and if it wasn't in the description, I would've never guessed. There were a lot of duck pieces though so I wouldn't order this again. I did enjoy the interesting konjac jelly slices in the mix Pea sprout garlic $16.95 another classic and if you find yourself in need of veggies to balance out your meal, this could be a treat, even though it's about 3x the price of raw ones at the market We dined at 5pm on a Saturday. There are parking spaces in the residential area within walking distance. Sichuan Home is a cozy restaurant so I'm glad we were there early as I'd probably not want to be there if it was crowded. Be prepared that you have to walk through the kitchen in order to get to the bathroom. The owner was very friendly and accommodating. If you're not sure about how spicy your tolerance is, she'll work with you to customize your preference. Dishes took about 15-20 to all arrive. Rice is $2 per small bowl. You get a 5% discount if you pay in cash. Total bill was $135.51

Fine Sichuan resturant. The portion is pretty big and the one fish dish was enough for two people.

We've been going to this place for at least 10 years and it is still by far one of the best Sichuan restaurants in San Francisco. For my spouse and I, it is our favorite. The food is always excellent, super flavorful and consistently of the same quality. The prices are super reasonable. The service is friendly and fast. This place is legit Sichuan food (I lived in China so I have high standards ), if you are looking for American-Chinese food, I am sure they can do it, but might not be the best. I am surprised this place isn't getting a better rating. Good for us because there is almost never wait time to get a table.

Rain had subsided. Mid May. We finished hiking and back from Tennessee Valley. Feeling peckish. I announced I wanted a sandwich and my BFF and hiking buddy said he was not hungry. I love Lou's so off we went to Geary. I stumbled onto this Chinese restaurant a few doors down. Never heard of it but I wanted something warm all of the sudden. Sichuan organ meats in hot chili oil to the rescue on a cold day. The Chinese word for this dish is Mao Xue Wong. Honestly the best I have had inside and outside of China. Superb dish. Excellent for impressing your Chinese friends with. Authentic. Fried intestines is a guilty pleasure of mine. I ate quite a bit of that. Also super Chinese and something I would order all over again. For the whitie friends in your circle - pot stickers and kung pao chicken are decidedly Americanized. This restaurant is small and unnoticeable from outside but a real gem. Best I had since I was in Shanghai for work recently and dined at a fancy Sichuan restaurant on our campus. I would definitely be back with my family and friends.

Date: Monday, February 26th, 2024 Meal: Dinner Delivery Party of: 2 Time Ordered: around 7:30pm Time Delivered: around 8:15pm How: DoorDash (DD) Delivered To: Outer Richmond 6. Cucumber in spicy Garlic Sauce 蒜蓉黄瓜 ($12.95) 39. Chongqing Style Spicy Chicken 重庆辣子鸡 - Boneless 无骨 ($18.95) 25. Spicy Fish and Chinese Herb Spice 香水鱼 ($30.95) 114. Pot Sticker (6 Pieces) 锅贴 ($10.95) For some reason I was craving fish. Specifically fish cooked in chili oil. I'm more of a Canto Chinese food girl, but sometimes food in chili oil seems super comforting. Looking around DD, I found Sichuan Home. The hubby doesn't really eat Szechuan food, so he just randomly picked the fried chicken. I typically find this dish more breading than chicken, so I don't normally care for it. This one wasn't any different. Lots of peppers tho, which was nice since I like spicy. The cucumber salad was good. Garlicky and flavorful. Tho I like mine with heat, so I added more hot chili oil. The fish dish was huge! Not that I wasn't expecting it to be at $31, but it came in three large soup containers. The fish itself was nice and moist. I do wish restaurants served this is smaller portions since I can never finish a whole one. I still have 2/3 of it sitting in my fridge. Lol! Great spot to fulfill my sichuan boiled fish cravings.

Good food. Enjoyed the ambiance and customer service. I felt welcomed and the waitress had a great personality with recommendations. I would come back when I want Chinese food.

12/25/23 Merry Christmas. #87. Honey Walnut Prawn
    Lee D.

Merry Christmas everyone. Thanks for being open and seating us without reservations! Quality/Quantity - Salted Fish & Chicken Fried Rice - My daughter thought this was too salty, but everyone else liked the flavor. It was a little oily though. #87. Honey Walnut Prawn - Good, but as usual, we would have preferred more prawns #108. Tofu and Broccoli in Brown Sauce - This was a hit with my family. The tofu was tender and the broccoli was steamed well. Crispy and fresh. #132. Beef Chow Fun - Staple item and one of my daughter's favorites. The bean sprouts were a little too generous. Not perfectly proportioned. See picture. #126. Sichuan Style Rice Cake and Brown Sugar - Dessert. Looked way better than it tasted. My daughter said tomorrow she will make this for us at home! Atmosphere - Small local restaurant. The bathroom is in the back through the kitchen, thanks for making this public! I don't understand why and how some full service restaurants do NOT let us use their bathrooms. At minimum, they should offer hand washing stations. Open 7 days a week from 11am to 10pm. Street parking but free today as it was Christmas. Service - 5 stars; the owner was also the waitress. Aggressive with her suggestive selling, but not in a negative way. Suggesting the pork shoulder and crab today, their specials. Huge team working today. Approximately 2-3 people worked the front of the house, and 10 people in the back of the house. Price - $78 + generous tip. Cash discount, but we chose to pay by credit card. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2011. See you next time.

Craving for some Sichuan food and decided to make a trip to Richmond to try this place out. Sichuan home was mentioned in the Michelin guide from 2013-2017 so was pretty excited and had high expectations for the food. THEY DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!!! There was only one server running the dinning area but seems like she got everything under control. Serving the tables and taking care of the Togo orders and didn't seem a bit overwhelmed. She also took the time to ask our spice tolerance and offer to make the dishes we ordered less spicy if we wished. Food was authentic and the Sichuan flavor is very in your face. At the end of the meal, my partner and I were sweating but can't stop because it's so addicting. Our favorite was the green peppercorn fish soup (recommended by the server, as the restaurant is known for their Sichuan fish). The fish is tender and packed with flavors that's somewhat refreshing and not too greasy. Definitely will come back again next time to tryout other dishes that seem interesting!

The soup dumplings, the Sichuan Dan Dan noodles and the fried beef was superb! The service here is so good.. our server, she was so funny and attentive and she took our experience a notch higher. We also got a few hot sakes and wine. Everything here was so good! We had such a good time even though this was a dinner with my boss haha! I can't recommend this place enough. This is a big gourmand btw! Come here if you're in SF and love Chinese food.

Came here with a friend on a rainy Saturday evening! My friend got the Couple's Delight, which was good, but it was a cold dish which he didn't expect. We shared the Chongqing Style Chicken which was very tasty - it was hot, crispy, and flavorful! We were originally going to order the Sichuan Tea Smoked Duck, but our waitress warned us that this is a cold dish & she recommended we get the Spicy Tea Smoked Duck instead. We both found the duck was a bit salty - besides that, the duck was cooked well and the flavors were great! The staff was very friendly and the service was fast - would recommend checking this place out!

    Andrew R.

This is a great Sichuan spot! The fish stew was the major highlight for me, the broth was so flavorful and the fish was extremely fresh and tasty. A must get. The chongqing spicy chicken was alright, though it wasn't as crispy as I thought it'd be. The string beans were great and flavorful. And the onion pancakes were a good side, tho I might try a different dim sum item next time. The service was great and prices were reasonable for the quality of the food!

Authentic Chinese food from a specific province (I forget the name). Can be VERY spicy so be careful. Very little English spoken there.

It was a good kind of peril. The Chow Mein Select noodles with lots of fresh crunchy vegetables was nicely executed with firm, plump chow mein. It was a very generous helping.
