Great food and friendly staff! Don't forget Yelp check in for a discount offer! You can park in the street with meters. This section of Van Nuys is busy during the work hours with all the government offices but if you walk about a block or so there's 2hr free street parking. Meats are tender and juicy. We wanted to try a new Middle Eastern place and this popped up! And even better, it was in my hood! So, we took our chances, ordered online and headed over to pick it up 20 minutes later. The gyros were very good. Just wish the meat was cut directly off the skewer. Big serving with lots of onions, tomatoes and tzatziki sauce. Big enough to share. I used to love this place, but I just had a very off putting experience there. I walked in at 4pm on a Saturday, sign said open (door said 8pm close) and there were people sitting inside and outside, but when I got to the counter the guy just said "we're closed" and gave no reason why or explanation as to why they were closed to me. We got chicken, beef, then a like ground chicken and beef thing with hummus tahini and garlic sauce. Everything was delicious. I spoke to the guy who came back out and checked on us. I advised him his food is delicious but the salad needs to step its game up if you're using it as a side dish. He thanked me for the advise. First time wont be the last, wife suggested picking up some takeout and wanted to find something off the beaten path. Wasnt dissapointed. ordered the Supreme Platter so we can taste a few items. Chicken was moist, steak tasty, beef and chicken lulu all very good. We finally found halal shawarma. Love the cozy, family feel of this place. The owner and his wife are super sweet and kind people. The owner talked to us the whole time we were there and went out of his way to accommodate us as well. I ordered the beef shawarma plate and my husband ordered the shawarma sandwich. We wanted to get an extra side of fries for our toddler but he said not to worry about it and he will just give us some extra on the side. Food was delicious. The shawarma was great, really loved the buttery rice and hummus as well. Fried were fresh and hot. We spoke to the owner the whole time about family, culture, food etc. and learned about him, his family and childhood. When people go out of your way to welcome you, you know it's a place to return.
