Excellent!! Very quaint and homey. Loved all of the different tables and chairs. Felt like a farmhouse. Our server was excellent,very attentive and lovely. The food was amazing! We tried the cheese plate with lovely bit of Chicory dressed perfectly, delicious raspberry compote, the Bread and Butter, oh that butter!! Mmm! Duck fat potatoes were very good, my husband had the Beet Salad and Lamb Ragu, I had the fresh pasta with sun dried tomatoes, scallions in a burre blanc. It was delicious (slightly salty to me) but I enjoyed it. For dessert we both enjoyed coffee and vanilla ice cream with maple syrup. This was the perfect choice for our anniversary dinner. It was an hour drive for us but I feel it was worth the trek. read more

I work at Day Kimball Hospital & We had our Christmas Party here for our family's we served last year and apparently our team can't get enough of this property and the amazing farm to table meals prepared by chef Brian. The property is an idyllic historical farm & farmhouse situated on multiple acres on a picturesque rural piece of land that could definitely be the cover of a postcard! Everyone we encountered who is a part of Little Dipper Farm has been great! We even hosted one of our kids/family events here and it was one of the parent's absolute favorites! We made salsa and everything we utilized for the recipe was grown on this property and was literally picked moments before and as fresh as could be. Everyone really enjoyed the salsa & I brought some home to my son who literally ate the entire jar in one setting citing it as the "Best Salsa I've ever had"! So as I mentioned above, the food here is Farm to Table which means it's all grown here on site - but if it's not it's grown nearby at another farm or typically somewhere local to the area. I believe Sara is in charge of the vegetables and tending the garden and Brian is the mastermind Chef, a graduate of JWU- he is extremely talented and out of the various times I've eaten here (3-6x minimum now)- I have never eaten anything that wasn't delicious! Seriously- Brian could make the most boring and bland item- taste amazing! He truly has a gift & if you haven't been here I highly suggest you check it out! They do dinners I believe Thursday-Saturday 4-10pm! They also host events here from weddings to party's etc! The decor inside is a Vintage farmhouse style which, combines the warm and welcoming friendliness of the farmhouse with historic design and decor from eras in the past. The American farmhouse itself dates back as far as the early American colonies in the 1600s. The historical architectural post and beam elements and the setup of the barn definitely transports you back to another time period when things were much simpler, but with updated restrooms and fixtures- it has both modern amenities with that historical style/feel. Overall- if you have never been here, I would definitely recommend it! Or if you're interested in having an event here- they are really great and will accommodate a variety of budgets! Check it out! Farm-to-table restaurant in an idyllic setting that used to house the Golden Lamb Buttery Seating options that are either inside of a restored barn or right outside on their patio that overlooks their farm I came here with my parents & GF, and we tried a variety of things. The food was very hit-or-miss, and the service needs some major upgrading. It took us a really long time to get our food, and our waitress really did not know what she was doing. This beautiful farm was once the Golden Lamb Buttery, it closed about 5 years ago after 55 years as a family-run restaurant. Somehow I never managed to get there and have been kicking myself ever since. I got a second chance when it recently reopened as Chef's Table at Little Dipper Farm. We had a 4pm reservation so that we could get home in time for the Kentucky Derby and we were the only people in the restaurant. A beautiful day, they had the back door open to the view of the fields and pond, with a woodfire crackling away in the dining room. We took the advice of other reviewers and started with the bread (a crackery lavash) and an amazing homemade butter with the texture of sour cream. Next up, potatoes roasted in duck fat - so good. A couple of salads sounded interesting so we each had one, and split the black bass. My only regret is being too full to try the blueberry buckle. A good reason to go back. The wine & beer lists are small but well chosen. The service couldn't have been any warmer or more personal. Just a wonderful experience from start to finish. read more

Took a little road trip down from Boston to check out the restaurant, so happy we did! Food was really tasty and fresh, cocktails were wonderfully balanced, and the scenery was idyllic. It truly was seed-to-table: you could taste it in each of the dishes. Well worth the drive and I can't wait for the next meal there! What a unique experience. Great food in the quiet corner of Connecticut. The setting is spectacular. Your on a beautiful farm in a beautiful location watching the horses graze grass. There is a beautiful pond and you are in an amazing lovingly restored barn. The food is lovingly crafted from local produce, some grown on the farm. There is homemade butte. Wonderful pairings of foods. Great service. Wonderful people. A once in a lifetime experience. Not to be missed. No I am not related to the chef!!!! read more

If you have the chance to have a meal here, do so. The property and surroundings are beautiful, the setting inside is unique, warm and comfortable and the food is wonderful. Start with the bread and butter, just trust me. Don't miss the duck fat roasted potatoes. The Bolognese was amazing and the buttermilk panna cotta was wonderful. Work you way through the menu full of local flavors and save room for desert. We will make this restaurant our go to and hope we can get a table once people discover. Having known the place in its previous incarnation I was very excited to try this restaurant. The building remains rustic and charming as ever. When we arrived there was no one at the front desk and that was a bit off putting. A member of our party went looking for someone and still no one. Eventually our hostess arrives and we were seated. The menu is interesting and the wine list broad. I had a steak that was ok. Nothing spectacular. The wine was good but when we orders another bottle we got a different wine, weird. We were so lucky to attend a private event last weekend at this beautiful venue. It was the perfect setting for an engagement party/wedding shower brunch for our daughter and future son-in-law. The food was ah-mazing; fresh fruit, blueberry buckle (so good!!!), eggs benedict, mimosas, and the panna cotta with juicy little slices of fruit were my favorites. It was a glorious day and we were able to enjoy the spacious deck and soak in the sun and glorious views of the farm. read more

Anyone who rates this place less than 5 stars is a buffoon! Amazing! Our server was A+, but ALL the employees were great! Everyone was friendly & knowledgeable. Cool, old-time barn/farmhouse vibe. Cheese plate and duck fat potatoes (apps) were great. Bolognese, lamb, & especially the steak (entrees) were top notch! Drink & dessert menus were a bit limited, but so what. I was very disappointed. I have had a few friends that have eaten here and had great experiences, so this might have been an off night. The website seems to sell elegant and fancy food, service, and atmosphere but we did not experience this. Here's a short list of items that felt incongruent to how the website presents itself: 1. No one to meet us at the door, we wondered around for a bit in the barn before finding someone who lead us to the hostess behind a curtain 2. Low lighting, our whole party pulled out cellphones in order to see the menu, there was only one string on dim lights accords the ceiling 2. The lobster raviolis were fine as best, not bad but not good, like 3/10 3. The risotto was absolutely awful. It was dry, unflavored and had no depth, maybe a 1/10 is being generous. The restaurant was very accommodating and removed this item from the bill 4. The appetizers we got were not impressive with the exception of the duck fat. The cheese plate was large chunks of cheese without a knife to cut it and the bread and butter and large bread crisps and butter, both lacking flavor. 5. This is minor, but something I would expect from An elegant restaurant, they did not clear out table after the appetizers before we received our entrees. The table was very crowded and awkward when the waitress came to clear the appetizer plates. 6. Again minor, we received a salad and a dinner fork, and the salad fork was never removed from our table setting before receiving our entrees. 7. The appetizers and entrees came out very quickly, which is not always a negative thing but it felt "too fast" for an elegant restaurant where I would expect the chef to take time in preparing and presenting the food. 8. The cocktails were good Again, I know others that have had great experiences and this was mine. I most likely will not be returning to the Little Dipper. read more

We had the fortunate experience of dining at this barn restaurant, brimming with history and rustic charm. With a locally sourced , farm to table menu , skillfully crafted by Chef Brian , it's a difficult task deciding what to choose. Do start with the bread and butter , a lavash style delight served with house churned butter. We also enjoyed the cheese plate to start ( local ) . Our three entrees consisted of lobster ravioli ( homemade pasta ) with the caviar butter ( so creamy ,decadent and rich) ; the roasted black bass ( perfectly cooked ; and mine , the Bolognese- Al dente pappadella in a rich meat and San Mazano tomato ragu - pure Heaven ! We complemented the feast with a lovely Willamette Valley Pinot and finished sharing a Blueberry Buckle with house made vanilla ice cream AND Buttermilk Panna Cotta ( also in house ) with citrus . Both were excellent but I have to admit , I could not get enough of the Creamy and Tart Panna Cotta ( scrumptious) . The service , the portions and value were all excellent. ... this is a MUST Experience Gem in the Idyllic CT countryside to which we will return.
