Food was amazing, especially the crab cake. The carrot cake was my least favorite item: way too much ginger for my taste, but my friend loved it. While visiting Green Bay for the first time, I stopped in with two friends for a meal at Chefusion. We began at the bar for a drink and planned to move to a table afterward. During that time, I was engaged in conversation by a staff member named Nancy (not the bartender). She made unsolicited comments about her political views, including a stance against gay marriage. This was extremely uncomfortable and inappropriate--especially in a service setting. While everyone is entitled to their personal beliefs (something I firmly stand behind), employees should not be sharing divisive or discriminatory opinions with guests. Staff represent the restaurant, and this interaction reflected poorly on the establishment. That said, her comments were still shocking and inappropriate for someone working in hospitality in a country she is not from. Additionally, we were told we could not order a specialty cocktail by the bartender because the ingredients were expired. This immediately led us to order only canned or bottled drinks, which raised concerns. Please ensure all food and beverage ingredients are properly stored, within temperature standards, and not past their expiration dates. As a result, our party finished our cocktail and chose to leave rather than stay for dinner. We took our business elsewhere (Republic). I have thick skin, but I don't support or spend money in places where this kind of behavior is tolerated. read more

We were a party of five on a Thursday evening in May. The main level offers a fine dining experience and an excellent venue for a romantic evening or special occasion celebration. Our party was coming together from three different states after a day of travel, so we opted for the more relaxed but also impressive space upstairs. Drinks ordered included: Cadillac Margarita, Billionaire, Hypnotize Me, a Four Beer Sampler and an Espresso Martini. Each drink was impressive and seemed to have something setting it apart enough to talk about. If you're going to have a drink, these are some worthwhile choices. Our party opted to have the $35 Prix Fixe, which includes one first course, a small plate and a dessert. We also ordered Bread for Four and Sides of Mushroom Risotto and Steak Fries for the table to share. With everything being noteworthy, were do you start or end talking about the food? For this review, I'm choosing to highlight the small plates. Didn't realize they have a new chef who took over. Totally different menu. Should've change the name because it's definitely not Chefusion. The food isn't the same. The atmosphere is still nice fine dining but the quality of the food has gone down. Cuts of meat seem cheap and quality of food is horrible. My fiancée & I came here on a date night from out of town. The espresso martini was chefs kiss, they poured the perfect amount into my glass. We had two palate cleansers, the first one was a bite size piece of asparagus, a little ricotta cheese and a sunflower leaf. It tasted like I was eating grass. The second one was a spoonful of frothy lime juice. Not bad, but definitely odd. The steak and lobster were delicious. They forgot my shrimp until I said something but was still great. Had a wide range of good bites at Chefusion Ordered the avocado buratta salad to start, the chefs platter (cheese curds, bacon wrapped tater tots, and shrimp) and the bread spread as apps and all were great. For a main course, we ordered the tenderloin crostini, the burger, and the tenderloin plate. For desert, we all shared the lemon cake. Service was pretty good! Chefusion is one of my moms favorite restaurants and I'm glad I had a chance to try it with her. The ambiance is older and a little outdated but it's still a very cozy, intimate vibe. The service is excellent and our server was very friendly. The bread basket was alright, it came with three different spreads and many different types of bread. For my first course, I had the grilled avocado and burrata salad. It was okay, I thought there was too much oil and the avocado was brown. The charred burrata was good. For the main course I ordered the filet mignon which came with 2 small filets on a crostini/bread with pesto, aioli, demi glaze, and Parmesan. Wow! It was quite delicious, the bread was buttery and light and the different sauces added so much good flavor. My only critique is the "salad" on the side was just mixed greens and no dressing or anything, kinda odd, I ended up just leaving them on my plate. For the last course, dessert, I ordered the butter cake and it was very rich and delicious! The ice cream and fresh strawberries balance the intense sweetness and heaviness of the butter cake, I almost wish there was a little more because it was a little heavy for me. This was the 1st time I have been back since the new owners took over. I no longer live in Green Bay , This was my favorite restaurant for years- value, service & quality of food. We were there last week, and they have lowered quality, raised prices and lost almost all of the great staff that we were loyal to for years. The only person that was there is Jim who is great. Chefusion no longer exists. One of our favorite go to restaraunts, along with Plae Bistro, Bleu, and Draft Gastropub in Appleton. Could not wait for the wedge salad with the blue cheese ice cream dressing! Talked about it all day. We didnt' eat all day so we could get and enjoy the 3 course meal! There is a new menu which is so small! Nothing like the menu we went to Chefusion for. Nothing sounded appetizing when you had your heart set on something, but we tried the meat and cheese board hoping to get a great chacarcuterie board. It was just awful. A few pieces of one kind of meat, cubes of cheese in the center that looked like what you get pre-packaged at the grocery store and boxed crackers that just fell apart when you tired to dip them into the jam . If you want to see what a chacarcuterie board should be like, check out the 3 restaraunts I mentioned above. Theirs are simply outstanding! We are home making something to eat. Never been so disappointed. Will miss one of our favorite restaraunts and definitely won't be back to this one. Change the name, you don't do it justice. read more

My daughter took me here for birthday dinner-NOT GOOD! the waiter was working alone on a Thursday evening-he DUMPED food off at our table- we ordered "bread service", $8.00 dollars for four rolls, a tablespoon of butter, a tablespoon of jam and oil! Horrible! My daughter ordered chicken -she got a box to go, I ordered a steak it was good not great and the potatoes were not flavored I mixed butter in and ate them and we left-NOT TO GO BACK AGAIN. Being newer to Green Bay, we are in a constant search for our "go to" lists for great food. We tried Chefusion on one of the windiest and rainiest nights ever and it did not disappoint! First: Definitely have a reservation, we made one easily on Open Table. Parking is a bit of a challenge so be prepared to go a little early so you can find a space. If you plan on eating downstairs, it is a dressier crowd, we did not venture upstairs but our server told us it was casual and where the bar is located and also no reservations. The atmosphere is felt very intimate and romantic which we loved. This would be a great date night or dinner with friends location. We were very impressed with the service, our server Anna Marina was very knowledgable to walking us through the menu and our options. She was also great at wine recommendations. The bread service was amazing served an incredible olive tapenade, hummus and herbed butter...delicious! We shared a chopped salad which had incredible flavor and hubby had the filet mignon and lobster tail. Everything was so tasty. The only reason for the 4 is the food had some timing issues and it took awhile to get the entree and while not cold it wasn't hot. BUT......it was delicious. One of my go-to spots in Green Bay for fine dining (and eclectic dining)! Formal fancy dining on the main floor and casual dining upstairs. Awesome good and friendly service. While the multi course meals are an experience, the small plates provide quite a quite satisfying portion size, especially if you order a side of Parmesan truffle fries for the table (and those alone are worth dining here for). Great selection of wine and craft beers (you can even order a beer flight), along with a nice selection of cocktails (although my New Old Fashioned seemed to lack sweetness). A very pleasant dining experience in Green Bay. Downstairs is a classy, full-service dining experience. Upstairs is a more casual version. In my visit downstairs, service was exceptional. High attention to detail, very responsive, and efficient. There are a ton of great menu options which made it hard to pick in lieu of the tasting menu, but it doesn't appear you can do anything wrong. The filet crostini was fantastic. An amalgamation of flavors topped off with tender filet. The paella had a nice spice from the andouille on a perfectly cooked bed of rice. Nearly everything was top notch. If this were being compared to a high-end restaurant in a major market, it might only get a 4-star... but it's still very close, and well deserving of 5 in GB! read more

I should have consulted the recent reviews before going there last night. Sad to say, it is not the same place it was. Scallop risotto- the risotto was great- not pasty/mealy- nice light creamy texture and the peas and mushrooms were fabulous and fresh. But three scallops on top about 1 inch across for a $40 entree? The timing of service was off- I received my glass of wine as I was finishing my last bites of my entree. Was told that the "bar is upstairs" and it takes a while. Ditto for dessert. Our after-dinner drinks arrived along with our new flat ware, but the cake was 10 minutes + after that. The highlight of the evening was the young lady playing upstairs- we heard her downstairs and went up to listen to a couple of sets. She was fabulous. I will go back- but only for a cocktail and to sit in the bar upstairs. That is a great atmosphere. Will monitor the menu and see if I'll give it another go. read more

Wow such an amazing gem! This place is creating magic, quite literally! The service was fantastic and helped create a magical experience! The drinks were strong but good in true Wisconsin fashion! The menu is vast but to be honest everything sounded amazing and everything we had was so good! We ended up going with the three course fixed menu and it was fantastic! To start with we got the mussels (which were the best I have ever had in the US) and the lobster bisque which was pretty good as well. Honestly the mussels were so good so it wasn't fair to judge it against the lobster bisque. The mussels were so good For main entrees we got the lobster and pork belly carbonara which was a very good option and came with a whole lobster tails and two big slabs of pork belly. The rack of lambs is a must try. I repeat the rack of lambs is a must try! It was so good. It was cooked to perfection and was not gamey at all. The potatoes and mint jelly complemented it well and I could have ate another one if I had room. Overall, When I return I will get the mussels x2 and prob the rack of lamb again. I took my friend from Chicago here and was so embarrassed about her meal. She ordered the surf and turf trio. It had one scallop the size of a quarter, three tiny whispy shrimps with and it was supposed to come with mashed potatoes but instead they did a breakfast style sautéd potato. The potatoes were hard, not cooked all the way and when I mentioned this to the waiter he just kind of shrugged and nothing was done to correct it. What a pleasant surprise we received for our 51st anniversary. We didn't know what to expect but we fell in love with the place. I wish try had an elevator so we could enjoy the upstairs. Menu was very confusing but we made our way through it with the fantastic help of our waiter. Cocktails were perfectly prepared along with the appetizers; salads were to write home about; entrees were perfectly prepared. With everything perfect to this point we were forced to hold out for desert- glad we did- perfect ending to a wonderful occasion. Will we be back? Absolutely Pricey but oh so worth it. I will say that i have been coming there for a few years.. in the last year, service, food, and drinks have gone so far down hill I or anyone we know will never go back.. since the new owners and end of the old ones, its terrible. We all spend a ton of money there weakly.. and always looked forward to it. Cocktails on the menu should be made with the booze in the description, not rail when being charged for higher end. Girls weekend Party of Three. Awesome Experience. We reserved a table downstairs and arrived a little early so we went upstairs to the bar and sat at a table. It was a happy relaxed place and heard there was going to be a live band a little later so we changed our res to upstairs. It's a open table and bar seating area where you can eat with a full restaurant menu. We were told the downstairs dining room was more formal, also. Our server, Leah, was so gracious and so helpful guiding us through all the menu options and had great recommendations based on our preferences. We started with the bread service and brussel sprouts for the whole table. There were at least 3 different kinds of fresh baked bread served with sweet butter, hummus and olive tapenade. The amazing sprouts were grilled with buttery bacon sauce. We each selected the $35 prix fixe option and absolutely loved every dish!!! The mussel small plate came with a lot of mussels in an herby butter sauce with rich buttery breadsticks- so filling! The wedge salad was presented beautifully and tasted perfect with the Roquefort ice cream. The grilled avocado & burrato salad was amazing even though I eat these items a lot at home, they way they made it was extra special! The tenderloin and lobster was as expected, seasoned and cooked perfectly , the potatoes whipped nicely. I could have used more sauce. I added the 3 shrimp skewer which was good but at this point I had so much food I could barely eat them. The others had chefusion au gratin , said it was a rich meal- tasty tender rib meat and gnocchi and the egg was a perfect touch. Desserts we ordered were an almond cake with house-made pear ice cream and a butter cake. Both so very decadent, so flavorful and rich. We could barely finish it all. We tried some of the signature drinks and again all were so good, with the lemon drop being our absolute favorite. Others we tried were the old fashion , watermelon Paloma and a drink served with a smoke filled glass that tasted awesome! All drinks were served with a grand flourish by our server and we were well taken care of. The music started later and was a good addition. The first time I went here the bartender insulted me and then tried to make up for it later. The second time which was last night I came out of the bathroom and the waitress I had I could hear her clearly talking about me which I thought was rude. I had asked her politely to box up my dessert because I didn't want the rest of my table to wait on me because I was the only one who got dessert in my group which I felt embarrassed. Wow!!! Absolutely amazing dinner we had tonight. Home run and we cannot wait to go back. From the homemade bread service to the amuse bouche- some kind of tomato vegetable thing that licked our palates clean. Then came a sorbet of cranberry and apple- shut the front door. Can I throw away the key and stay here forever?? My husband ordered the Three part dinner of muscles, trio of Brisket, shrimp and scallops plus dessert. While I ordered the mushroom risotto with scallops. Don't forget the dessert that I had to save room for- Gooey cake. I am so full I could only eat 2 bites of mine and 2 bites of his crème brûlée mascarpone cheesecake. Chefusion is something a little bit different for Green Bay, and I like it. I've only ever eaten upstairs in the bar/small plates area, so I can't speak to the more formal experience downstairs. With that said, I love the small plates concept. Every time I've been there the food has been delicious, well-cooked, and it shows up fast. They have some combination deals you can do, or just do the small plates ala carte if that's your style. The pricing is maybe a little high, but it makes for a more upscale experience, so as long as you know that going in it should be fine. The aforementioned combination deals can help keep the price down as well. Their drinks are fun and inventive as well, and service has always been friendly and attentive. While this likely isn't an 'everyday' restaurant, Chefusion is great for a more special night out or if you want to have something a little bit different. read more
