We were staying in Newberg for a wedding. We were at the Best Western. This place was less than a ten minute walk from our hotel. We had lunch the first day. The food was excellent and the beer was delicious. We liked it so much, we came back for happy hour the next night. The happy hour portions were well enough for dinner. The place is clean and the servers were great. I highly recommend it. read more

Don't order the porter. I have been here ~10 times, and at least half of them I've ordered a porter. (It's the only style of their beers I like.) Every time they were flat. If it wasn't a "brewery" I'd be more understanding. Not worth it. read more

Went to Chehalem Valley Brewing last night for a few beers and to catch the Blazer game. They had about 6 or 7 of their own brews and probably 10 more or so guest beers that were from the Northwest. They didn't really have any food menu but there was popcorn and a stand outside serving BBQ brats and hot dogs. I had 2 of their beers an IPA and stout on Nitro and both were very good. Another plus is they had several dart boards. Overall this is a cool little place and I'd go back again if I'm in the area. read more

I have eaten here 4 times in the past year with the same results, each time the staff has been slow and uninviting. You have to get their attention for them to provide service even though you order from your table. The food is average and tastes store bought. The beer is average, and expensive. I would not recommend this place to someone. read more

Came here 2 weeks ago with my brother for dinner. We split a turkey sandwich and the buffalo burger. My brother and I are turkey sandwich connoisseurs, and this turkey sandwich was definitely below par. The buffalo burger was decent but not outstanding. Even more disappointing than the food, was the service. Although not unkind, they were way understaffed for dinner on a beautiful Thursday evening. I understand that restaurants get busy, especially small hometown places like this, but after being greeted, we weren't approached again and had to go up to the bar to order food. Sadly, I would have to give Chehalem Valley Brewing Company 2 stars if it were simply a reflection of the food and service. This is the absolute BEST place to eat and drink in Newberg. The staff is polite and extremely helpful. If you're not a beer person they are nice enough to help you find a beverage you'll enjoy. We love this place when we can find a seat! But that's a good problem for this little place. One of our favorites to visit in spring and summer when the day's are warm enough to have the garage doors open. This is a great family place as well. The grownups get to feel like grownups all while the kids are happy with their food choices too. Very simple menu!! But everything tastes great! Very friendly staff! Stopped in for a beer Saturday afternoon of the Memorial Day weekend. There was only one young woman waiting on the people at the bar, the people at the inside tables and the people at the table on the patio. Must have been 25 people total. I asked if someone had called in sick, and was told "this is how it always is". I waited over 10 minutes to be served, but understood why there was a wait. It's very unfair to the server, and the customers, to have a 25:1 customer/server ratio. The blame for this is placed on the management, who doesn't seem to care about their employees, or the experience of their customers. The one beer I had was very good, but left feeling bad for the young woman who was serving more than she should have been. This was the first time at CVB, and will be my last. read more

What a wonderful discovery! The beers were just great! My husband and I shared a Rueben, which was by far the best Rueben we have ever had! We chatted with the chef and he was sweet enough to share some of his secrets! This little gem is family owned and operated. Just the sweetest people you can find! We will definitely go back when we go through Newberg. It's just far enough off the main road to be quiet and pleasant. It's small and quiet and I guarantee you'll love it! read more

Just sat down and was very excited to enjoy a beer and food with my family. Unbelievably, the owner walked by many times, and other staff as well, never to be acknowledged. Two groups walked in after us and were acknowledged and were able to order. We sat there for 10 mins and decided to take our money elsewhere. Terrible terrible terrible service. Food was excellent. Good variety of pub food. Service was slow, had to flag down one of the two workers to order food and beers several times. Not that busy. Hands down our families favorite local place to relax over a board game, watch a game on the tv, visit with other locals, and eat burgers and drink beer. Their cider is yummy and the fries are the best. The staff are always very friendly, the owner is super cool. A very relaxed laid back atmosphere, so don't expect to come in with intentions of rushing through your meal. The outdoor seating in the warmer months makes everything even more awesome. read more

Paul was very knowledgeable and curteous. I enjoyed the sampler very much and the band was awesome. Got to sample 5 different beers (4oz each), none of which disappointed. Haven't tried the food yet but the menu was diverse and sounded of quality with smoked meats and other comfort foods. Everything was clean and well kept and I will definitely be returning. read more

Okay peeps, time to get it together. I was coming to this place to support it when there was only two beers on tap no food. Now there is beer that they make on tap, but no service you have to order at the bar and the food, I mean it maybe better to order from ye'olde next door. Terrible! Bad, slow service and questionable food. The pulled pork tasted sour, as if the meat might have been bad. Sent the meal back and the owner scoffed. I have been here four times recently and each time the service was extremely slow, but this is the first time I was served a bad meal. Regardless, the reaction of the owner will prevent me from ever returning. read more

The beer was solidly mediocre but the atmosphere and service were what set this place apart. GREAT service, especially on a slow Sunday afternoon. This was our first time there and they took time to walk us through the beers, make a few recommendations and followed up on what we liked/ did not like. My Mom and I have eaten at this location before and it has been ok for the most..had an awful experience tonight with the food not being up to par burger was burnt and fries half cooked because of a new cook which is no excuse for a bad experience. The owner was very disrespectful and would not comp the meal saying it was eaten even though the server checked on us after one bite in and then nothing after that till we were almost done and since I was not coming back anyways it benefited him in no way of doing anything for me, his words..guess ur servers had more important things to do like text on their cell phones with u as a owner sitting at the bar and condoning it than have them check on customers.. I have been in this industry 4 yrs and work at a great restaurant and privately owner shacks such as these hold there title..Newberg lacks good restaurants and I think this place should be at the top of the list of duds.. read more
