I went to Chelino's for a meeting. I was the first one there and they were fairly crowded. I asked if we could use the back room. They opened it just for us and were so nice. The service was amazing and they were so friendly. They worked around our meeting schedule. I ordered sour cream chicken enchiladas. They were really good. I've had them at other restaurants and they weren't this good. It's close to our house so I will be taking my husband here soon. read more

This was my favorite location. I spent decades of my life growing up going to Nino's as a child. I have always been pleased with the service at this location until yesterday. I walked in then stood for 5 minutes before someone came to seat me. We had 4 people at our table, one of them mentioned that one of us was celebrating a Birthday and told the waiter who's Birthday it was. I ordered the Chileno's Special Mex and Pedro said ok and then went on to the next person at our table. I was not asked if the sauces that come with the meal were acceptable, if I wanted chicken or beef for my tamale, if I wanted crispy or soft for my chicken or beef taco. I wasnt even asked what I wanted for my sides. I waited till the next person had ordered and quickly spoke up saying double rice please. Food was delicious as always, drink refills were very sparse. No one came to the table to sing Happy Birthday as I had seen and participated in many times. After we got our receipts to pay up front, half the party went up front to pay and the other half was still at the table waiting for Pedro to come back so they could get a drink refill or one to go. The waiter never came back so they gave up and joined the rest of the party at the counter to pay for their meals. read more

We had a very-small, impromtu family reunion here. We originally thought we'd have six people, but wound up with seven, and they acccomodated us easily and quickly. The menu had a lot of options and was easy to read. Although they have a weekday lunch section, they allow you to order from it for dinner and on the weekends, too, but they add $2 per order. We each ordered something different, and the staff and kitchen managed our orders well. They kept water, tea and soda glasses full without being asked. This Chelino's is so good that my dad and I go weekly (no exaggeration) . The servers, hostesses, and manager are always attentive and treat us like friends. The chips and queso are always great, and they are free along with the tortillas. The food is filling and always gives us enough for leftovers. I always love the atmosphere and the staff. My daughter-in-law and grandkids and I decided to stop at Chelinos before shopping. The restaurant is observing social distancing, every other table was open and staff wore masks. My grandson ordered the three meat fajita platter, The chicken and steak was tender and tasty, the shrimp over cooked, all in all he enjoyed his lunch. My grand daughter ordered the child beef fajitas and loved it. My daughter-in-law and I both ordered shredded beef chimichangas, they were not fried, they were grilled - very disappointing, it was a burrito. Needless to say I didn't eat it. We arrived at Chelino's at 6:30 on Saturday night and got seated immediately, the waitress came and took our drink orders and two different young people brought us chips, cheese sauce and salsa. Chips were crisp. Two of us ordered the chimichanga platter and two ordered the enchiladas. The chimichangas were not crisp at all. Hard to cut without a knife. Inside was not hot just look warm. I got the habanero sauce on mine and it looked like it was just painted on with a brush, not much at all. The meat was tender both beef and chicken, rice and beans good. The two who got the enchiladas both got ground beef with chili on top. Again not much chili on top at all. Ground beef had good flavor. We all got sopapillas. They came out hot and fresh, but not sure about that honey sauce, in our opinion not great. They did have live music which was a nice touch. Omigod Chelino's. For 30 years I've been eating here at least once each time I revisit my home state. I live in California where people sneer at Tex Mex. Fools. Mexican food has many varieties. Border cuisine like Tex Amex is simply another variety -- different than Cali-Mex or what migrants have brought from other parts of Mexico. Back to Chelino's. Their shredded beef is soooooo good. The chimichangas are something I dream about. And their queso is a unique recipe expressing Oklahoma Tex-Mex. each person gets their own bowl. None of this sharing. This place has horrible service and food when we got there we waited and hour to get our food and over half of the meals had corn tortillas even though we said repeatedly flour tortillas everything was dry and cold almost everything was burnt I waited over 30 minutes to get a refill and I still didn't and had to walk up to the kitchen and get someone to refill it. Oh man! I hate to do this because this Chelinos used to be THE BEST ONE of all of them. I'm not sure what happened... We haven't been to this location in about 2ish years. We happened to see it and thought, "heck yeah, tacos!!" I mean, who doesn't say that when they think of tacos?? Anyway, we went in and we're sat immediately. I needed to wash my hands before I ate, so I went to the WC. It's really in need of some TLC. It's run down and dirty. I have a thing when it comes to restaurant bathrooms. If they are dirty, that's hard for me to look over. That should be a make place of concern for management when it comes to cleanliness. The doors needed to be cleaned, especially by the handle. I use a paper towel to open any public bathroom door because everybody doesn't wash their hands. But even if I wasn't so aware I would have done it anyway just by looking at it. when I left to go back to my seat my feet were sticking to the carpet, almost like it was really dirty tile. It really needs a good washing. When I sat down I looked at the walls and there was food smudged fingerprints all over the place. This place needs a huge deep cleaning! The food wasn't bad. I will say my taco had a crazy amount of grease in it from the ground beef, but other than that it was fine. If you are Not like me and can overlook such things as mentioned above, by all means go ahead and enjoy. This was one of the worst dining experiences in my life. Our waiter seemed as if he didn't want to be serving us. My husband ordered a margarita assuming it was on the rocks when it came and was frozen my husband tried it to see if he liked it. He didn't it tasted like straight margarita mix. He let the waiter know he wanted one on the rocks, he then said "well you drank this one" he corrected him and said he took one sip to try it but didn't like it. He continued to say he already drank it and he needed to speak with a manager to see if he could have another one. He then asked the manager and came back to swap out the drinks. If only this was the end of the terrible dinner I wouldn't have left a review. I ordered chicken nachos, the chicken was more hard than a rock, it wasn't edible, it was so dry and hard it didn't even look like chicken. Our waiter never came back to see how our dinner was, we paid and left. We let the "manager" know how terrible our experience was, he seemed to not care and said "oh wow that's not like us." Tortillas were cold and burned on the edges. Three out of four dinners were incorrect and all were lukewarm. Waiter did not come back to check on us so we all just ate what he brought us. Food was "meh" and overpriced for what we got. Restaurant was dingy and in dire need of a thorough scrubbing. If the bathrooms are filthy I don't have high hopes that the kitchen is clean. It isn't fast food mexican like the chains that surrounds us and spend their profits on bothersome commercials, coupons, etc. They spend their profits on the product which are your order. As to cleanliness, building, furniture, & decorating it too is perfect and take you into Mexico when you arrive. This is the closest Mexican restaurant between my house and my parents, so we end up here with them once in a while after I've gone over there to pick up the baby and I'm not ready to stop hanging out with them yet. It's reminiscent of the Tex-Mex I grew up eating on the weekly, (sometimes at Nino's - which was the restaurant that used to be in this building) and there's something comforting about eating this food with my folks and now my own kiddo. I usually get the chicken fajitas, and they're always good with plenty of fresh fixins on the side, and they'll let me swap out the sour cream for more guac or for shredded cheese, both of which are a hit with the little one. The chips, salsa and queso are good, and plentiful. The past two times we've been in, the servers have been so nice to our little girl, despite the mess she makes the whole time and her inevitable meltdown around the time the check comes.
