We were promptly greeted, and the service was great! Nicely decorated Mexican styled space. Food was on the bland side. Nothing a little salt wouldn't fix. The main issue was that we both ordered cheese enchiladas and they were barely warm. The cheese was a solid block inside the tortilla. That defeats the purpose of the enchilada. So kinda torn here. Service was just ok, but almost like we were a hassle to be there.. I wasn't overly happy the food either. I mean I'm glad the plate is 130 degrees but would have been nice if the steak and chicken inside my food was more than 45 degrees, dry, and just well worse than bueno. Ok, first things first - yes - this place needs a fresh coat of paint, new blinds and chairs - but gosh darn it - this place has the look and feel of a hole in the wall and it ruins the whole experience if the interior is spotless and the chairs don't have refried beans imbedded into the fabric. Onto why you come to a hole in the wall the food! The litmus test of any worthwhile Mexican restaurant is how are the chips and salsa and are they free? They are awesome and they are free. Win-win. Fresh chips and wonderfully crafted salsa with a side of queso - I always pour a little salsa into the queso for the right blend. My wife and I ordered chicken and steak fajitas and they were absolutely amazing. They do it right - steak was juicy and the chicken was perfect. And as for the grilled bell peppers, onions and jalapeño? Delicious. We will be going back again and again to this place - their refried beans alone are worth it!! read more

One of my favorite locations in the area and Chileno's Special Mex is my go-to here. I get all beef items on it though and change it up a bit. Always ask for the habañero salsa to add to the house salsa and queso it's a yummy combo. read more

The food was so bland. Not a single spice or seasoning to be found anywhere. My daughter order chicken fajitas and told the waitress twice that she did not want onions, beans, or rice. They brought her a plate of just beans and rice, as well as two small plain pieces of chicken stacked so high with onions that there's no possible way that wasn't intentional. No tortillas either, she had to ask for them. I ordered chicken nachos and when they came, they were soggy because they loaded it with beans. I loaded it with salt and pepper and still could only manage a couple bites. Chelinos was amazing! They have a great selection of Mexican favorites! I decided to get the Burrito Norteño with Fajita chicken. It has fried jalapeños and onions. It was delicious, however i was expecting it to be a bit spicier. My friend ordered the Relleno combo with steak. It came with two large stuffed poblanos! We were up in OK visiting our friend and on the lookout for a good lunch spot. This place had good reviews so we made the trip there. This place is a solid 3.5 but I'm bumping it up to 4 because my meal was really good. Being from TX where we judge a good Mexican place by it's salsa and queso, this place fell short in that regard. The queso was not good at all in my opinon and I didn't enjoy the salsa or chips either. The chips/salsa/queso combo is often how you can tell a place had good food so I was worried about what my plate was going to taste like. I ordered the Jony's Special which came with shrimp, peppers, tomato, cheese and beans and rice. The flavoring was VERY good! My shrimp were over cooked so they were a little rubbery. I gave some away to others at the table, but I loved the pepper mix with the cheese and spices. The beans and rice were pretty good but needed some salt. The hubs ordered the Chilaquiles when he seems to really enjoy, but I didn't taste it myself. My friend said her's was just so-so, but I forget what she ordered. The food here is delicious. There is no doubt about that. Probably the best on the west side of town. The dining area needs help. A lot of help. The primary eye sour is the metal blinds next to the dinner tables. They are in sad repair and look as if they needed replacement 10 years ago. There is no way they should look like that within INCHES of the table (see photo). The next thing is the chairs. They are cloth and many of them appear stained. They are not conducive to cleanliness in a restaurant setting. The chairs literally look like they were purchased from the antique store next door, or a church auction. These two thing updated or replaced would make this place top notch and hard to beat. read more

Chelinos is an OKC staple. A local chain that has locations all over the metro. The food is consistent across the city, and you always know what you are getting. Good, clean, inexpensive Tex-Mex fare. The lunch menu is always a good cheap and quick option. Today we had the lunch steak fajitas. It was good, but a little tough, well worth the $10 price tag. The servings are huge, and could easily feed 2 people. The salsa is extremely fresh, and tasty. The queso looks a bit odd, and cakes over quickly, but it has a lovely taste. The staff at the Yukon location were friendly and quick. The decor is less busy than others and fun. We didn't have them today, but their swirls are normally the star of the show, make sure to try one. read more

Went there a week ago and was pretty disappointed. If you want authentic Mexican food do not go here!!!! This is more of a TEX-MEX! The queso was very watery and bland no flavor at all. Salsa was also bland and just tasted like tomatoes. The mangonadas were the best I've had! We had a mixed experience. My avocado enchiladas plate was good and my mangonada margarita was the best! However, my fiancé got the giant burrito with ground beef and it was not good at all. The queso was extremely watery and the ground beef inside was inedible. It tasted like dog food. He did not eat any of it and after our food was dropped off no one came to check on us until they brought the check. We brought it up that he didn't like the food and we had wanted to order something else for him but since everyone else was already finished with their food we decided not too. The only response we got was asking if we wanted a to go box to take it or just leave it. My fiancé just said leave it cause it was not good. They then left and we headed up to pay at the front. My family and I came here for lunch before my sister's softball game. I ordered a cheese Enchilada I asked for a flour tortilla but they gave me a corn tortilla I don't like corn tortillas and they gave me cold beans. My mom's boyfriend ordered a chimichanga and his steak was burnt. My mom ordered an Enchilada like me but she ordered chicken she also asked for a flour tortilla but they gave her a corn tortilla and when she asked for a flour tortilla instead they only gave her the tortillas, not a new Enchilada just the tortillas. My step-sister ordered a quesadilla and it was all dry. My other sister ordered a cheese quesadilla and she got chicken my mom even specified it because she doesn't eat chicken on a quesadilla. We all had to wait for an hour to get our food I'm so happy that they got my sister's order correct. I recommend you to NOT come here! read more

The place definitely needs to be updated on the inside as it's kind of dirty and the blinds are falling apart. The food was ok, definitely not up to the original Chelinos standards on south Robinson, where I normally go. But the reason for the 3 stars is because of the waiter. This restaurant is located in a strip mall next to the Hampton Inn just off I-40. We did take out and we're very impressed by prices, food, and speed. And they packaged it in wonderful cardboard boxes with aluminum edging and a tight lid so no spills and easy to eat from if you are in a hotel or on the go. Plus they give you a very large dose of chips and containers of both really good salsa and queso. We had the burro loco (huge) and the Bandera Mexicana, which offers a wide array of enchiladas. Great food for what we thought were really low prices. Love this place! read more

Tried the Yukon Chelino's for the first time the other night. The food was hot and fresh and tasted excellent. Our waiter was very nice and helpful and made sure our drinks were always full. Chips and cheese and salsa is a must for a good Mexican restaurant. Sadly the chips were the hard crunchy out of the bag taste versus cooked fresh like at Teds. We will be back. read more

My wife and I were in Yukon visiting my daughter and her family. We live in Tyler, Texas. My daughter recommended Chelino's for dinner, so we went. I'm not reviewing the food really, as Tex-Mex food is pretty much the same, with the same taste, no matter which restaurant you choose. I mean, ordering Mexican food really just comes down to how you want your tortillas, meat, beans and rice arranged. I will say the beef fajitas were disappointing, as there was about four times as much grilled onions as there was beef. And no bell peppers, even though the menu advertised them. Now, here's what gets Chelino's a 1-star rating from me, just as it did from another reviewer. I wasn't very hungry, so decided to share my wife's single order of beef fajitas. My wife asked if they could bring me a plate. They did. They charge $18 for a single order of beef fajitas. Those were some damn expensive grilled onions. When we got the bill, they had added on a $6 charge for "set-up w/o entree." Seriously, $6 for an empty plate? I've never heard of this in my entire life. My wife wrote $16 tip on the check, then deducted $6 for "set-up w/o entree," leaving $10 for the tip. When my wife went to the register to pay, the manager wanted to argue with my wife about it, just as the other reviewer reported. He claimed this was company practice. Ridiculous. The customer should be advised of this practice when ordering. Honestly, I'm surprised this place stays in business. We certainly will never return. read more

We absolutely love Chelinos and we were so excited when they opened one in Yukon. Yukon was missing a restaurant like this. This location is very clean and the wait staff is so amazingly nice and polite. They are all very attentive without being over bearing or annoying. Your drinks are always topped off and the chips and cheese dip are bottomless. You have to have a beer in one of the frosted mugs with salt and lime around the rim. All of the food is amazing and taste fresh. It doesn't take long at all from the time you order until the time the hot food is sat in front of you. My favorites are the chimichanga dinner and the burro loco, a giant burrito stuffed to the limits with all the good stuff. They have several TVs in the dinning areas and they are willing to tune in any game or channel you are wanting to see. All of the wait staff interact with the smaller kids in an amazing way and make the whole experience wonderful. This location keeps with and surpasses the Chelino's standards that we have grown up with and come to expect. Get in and check it out if you haven't already. You won't be disappointed. read more

I loved my cheese chili relleno and the beans were great although I like more cheese. The Spanish rice was good if you like it bland which I do. The price was great. We got the ground beef enchilada dinner and a three enchilada dinner. The ground beef came with beans and rice but I had to order a side of beans and rice for the three enchilada dinner which made that outrageous in cost. They're already a bit more expensive than other places around here. The beef enchiladas were good, nothing really any different than any other Mexican restaurant around here. The three enchiladas were: the chicken enchilada was dry, the cheese enchilada was bland and the shredded beef enchilada was decent. The cheese sauce is really good. Doesn't taste like it came from a can or like it's just melted Velveeta. The chips are good but my question is, why can't any Mexican restaurant just lightly sprinkle salt on the chips? Not a lot, just a little. None of them do it though. The flour tortillas are a bit thicker than other places and they are amazing!
