Idk why this place has such good reviews. It reeks of cigarettes. There was a back room that they kept going in and out of and every time they opened the door, the cigarette smell got stronger. My husband said the restroom looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a week. The food was actually pretty good but very greasy. Even so, we questioned how clean their cooking practices were. The biggest positive is that our server was very attentive. I gave her a good tip, and she deserved it. read more

You're going to second guess the reviews when you pull up. Old run down diner from the 40's that just says "restaurant" on the outside. Resist the urge to flee and find your way to a booth. You won't regret it. Everything is scratch cooked and delicious. Ample, inexpensive, portions. Recommend the "home fries" - home style potatoes pan fried with onions and peppers. read more

Everything was great as usual but I thought I should write to mention that they increased the prices of most of their items. The most important thing I wanted to write about was the fact that when we were at our table we saw and killed 4 baby roaches on our table and by the window area. So I took off two stars for that. If you are someone who judges places on the decor inside or outside, please look past that and try this place. If you are looking for delicious food on the cheap, this is the best breakfast place in okc! As soon as we pulled up I didn't have the highest expectations, but boy was I wrong. Yes as soon as you walk in you are transported back to the 70s with all the round leather-like booths everywhere and dated decor. I actually like booths better than tables and chairs, so I couldn't go wrong with where to sit. One waitress was waiting for us and a few other patrons were there eating. We picked out a round booth towards the back. Looking at the menu I was so shocked at the low low prices. How can I get an omelette with two sides for $5.50 and it be good? And the French toast was $2.75. Ok we have to try that. We each got a dish and then also got the French toast to share, because with those prices why not right? My coffee was brought out while waiting for my food and it was great coffee! I was worried because at most diner that are affordable, the coffee is usually gross and tastes like an ashtray! Not here. I got a little jar of fresh cream also for my coffee. Yum. The food was amazing! The omelette was ginormous with tons of toppings inside, or should I say insidings since they are not on top? Anyways, it was giant! The hash browns were cooked perfectly. Crispy on the outside and soft inside! The toast was Texas toast, so bring on the carbs baby! The French toast does not have powdered sugar like some places but it comes with syrup on the side. It was delicious . This place is way better than iHop and Denny's! This used to be our favorite breakfast spot. Good food with great prices. But unfortunately our last visit wasn't that great. It's an old style diner with a large selection of foods for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, French toast, and omelettes for breakfast. Sandwiches, pizza, chicken fried steak, and some Mexican entrees for lunch and dinner. They have specials on a chalk board when you walk in and pies for dessert. The service is always good with the wait staff being attentive and friendly. But unfortunately they have adjusted the prices on their menu and it's no longer the good deal and value that it was before. Also, we were disappointed to kill four small cockroaches at our table while we were eating our meal. This place is a little out of the way from downtown but was worth the trip for the value. Now at these prices we can get the same food for cheaper closer to the city. And without the roaches. Sadly, I don't think we will be eating here anymore. read more

I love a good classic diner! Sometimes you just want some simple, comforting, down-home cooking. They have that in droves here, with a giant menu and low low prices. Yet food is made fresh, cooked right, and not too greasy or heavy. None of the cheap, frozen, processed crap you get elsewhere. The country gravy on my hubby's scramble was as creamy as it comes. Link sausage had a nice red pepper kick. My club sandwich classically-styled with thick slabs of ham and turkey, crispy bacon, yummy. And both meals under $6.00. They even have a simple salad bar you can add to your meal for just a couple of bucks. Crazy good deals for fresh cookin'! Be sure to finish with one of their delicious cinnamon rolls, best with gobs of butter. Plus you get to eat at this kitschy retro diner complete with neon lights on the ceiling and other funky 1970's architecture. Between the Phillips 66 and Holiday Inn, next to the parking for long-haul truckers...Ignore all that stuff. It is clean, no dust on fixtures nor dirt on walls, no torn upholstery on the booths. My only complaint is that the AC unit is right in the dining room and a little loud. They really put time and care into this place, the food, the atmosphere and the service. Actually, the service may just be the best part. The sweetest lady served us, so friendly and helpful during our meal. We came in kind of late and tired after a long day. I regret I didn't catch her name. This place is great! As long as you have realistic expectations, I mean this isn't Nobu. Just a good meal with good people. Tired from our 8 hour drive from Albuquerque to Oklahoma City my husband and I just wanted something quick and easy for dinner before we crashed. Once we got into our hotel room we noticed that Chelio's Dinner was literally only 500 feet away from our hotel. I was so tired I though why not give it a shot so we made our way across the hotel parking lot to Chelio's. I'm not going to lie, I was a little worried walking into this place but man was I proved wrong. I guess you truly can't judge a book by its cover! Upon entering we were warmingly greeted by a sweet waitress that quickly took our order. I ordered a side salad and a bowl of the homemade chicken soup. Instead of giving you a plated side salad they allow you to make your own at their salad bar. Once I began checking out the bar and all of the toppings, I noticed two types of plates a small and a large. I thought surely my small $4 side salad must only grant me a tiny plate. However since I was unsure I asked the waitress what plate to use and she told me whichever I would like! As a true salad lover I was overjoyed and filled my large plate up their iceberg/green leaf lettuce mix, tomato slices, carrots, mushrooms, and cucumbers. While it was a simple salad bar the freshness of the veggies shown through along with the value of the low price. While enjoying my salad my soup was brought out and served with a piece of buttered garlic bread. The soup was warm and comforting to this cold and tired traveler. It had a nice balance of chicken, carrots, celery, and noodles in a light tomato broth. Again, do not judge this place by its appearance. If you are staying at the Holiday Inn next door or are passing by on highway 40 stop by here for good eats for a great price. read more

I had heard really dreadful things about this place -- most of which had to do with cleanliness. We stopped in one night, though, as it was convenient for us. Look, this isn't fancy-schmancy, folks -- it's a basic American diner. It's dated and shabby looking; it's true. Dirty? No, not really -- but worn and dated. And the part of town? Working class and kinda grimy. (It's right off the highway in south OKC.) You won't find avocado toast on the menu, let alone Lobster Thermidor. (No charcuterie plates to be found.) The staff is friendly, though, and orders come up quickly. If you want a huge omelette and hash browns at 7:00 p.m., you can get it sans judgment. My other half kept cracking up over how much the dated Sixties interior reminded him of that one classic scene in "Pulp Fiction." (I myself fully expected to look over at the next banquette and see Amanda Freakin' Plummer, ya know?) Hubs had pancakes; I ordered a massive omelette with veggies. I didn't go in expecting Hipster Central, let alone a wonderland of culinary delights. What I got? Large portions of good, well prepared American diner food. Came in here once with my kids and thought the food was pretty good so decided to try a pick up. Never again. Walked in and was questioned by the owner how I made my order. (I used the website link from Google) He preceded to tell me I should have just called I would have saved money, all while flies are flying around my food sitting on the table. I then ask if it was all of the food and he says yes, I knew it wasn't I ordered quite a bit and there was only 3 containers.. after checking in my car I was missing four items. I then had to enter the restaurant again and was questioned that I actually ordered what I said. Then was told I did have one of the items I didn't, what a joke. Ordered based off of the positive reviews, and the recommendation of the front desk of the hotel we stayed at. Unfortunately, our experience was not as positive as others have reported. First of all, it took over 90 minutes to get our food. Apparently their driver called in, so things are a bit understandable from that perspective. However, what is disappointing is that a) no one bothered to let us know; b) the food had been prepared right away, so it sat around for a long time before it was delivered; and, c) it wasn't that great of food anyway. We called in three times to check on the order after the 45 minute window we were provided has passed, and they kept saying it was on the way. They could have told us up front that their driver had called in, but they didn't, and then didn't tell us anything when we called. In addition, when the driver did get there, they acted like it was no big deal. The quality of the food was so so. We ordered a meal (pork chops, etc.) and a pizza. The pork chops were decent, but nothing to write home about. The pizza was average. It tasted decent, but certainly nothing worthy of the great reviews that the place has. It was average take out (think dominos, etc.) but that was about it. Long story short? I can't recommend the place, for reasons of their service or the quality. read more

Like several of the other reviews, we were staying at the Holiday Inn Express next store very tired from a long day of travel and decided to give the place a try especially considering Yelp reviews. Certainly it is true this place is nothing to look at on the outside and not even particularly all that polished inside either. The waitress could not have been any nicer and the menu provides reasonable selections for all. My travel companion was in the mood for breakfast and was very impressed with everything, particularly considering the more than fair prices. I decided to try the taco pizza which I asked for in the smallest size they had. I wasn't even able to eat half and it was full of toppings and the house made salsa to spoon on top was up to Snuff for this Texan! Do not go to this restaurant if you expect Glitz and glamour but if you want very good food at an extremely reasonable price this is your place. read more

This diner is located next to Holiday Inn Express. We pulled in about 9 pm from long road trip and wanted to avoid fast food. This was only place nearby as is not very appealing from the outside. But, based on Yelp reviews, we decided to give it a try. It is great diner food! Great prices and very nice people. I had the grilled pork chops and the salad bar. Nothing fancy about it but really good. Like home cooking. My husband got the special, which was the Gyro and fries. It was very good. The Taziki sauce was freshly made with lots of cucumber.
