I got what I walked in with NOTHING.

Well Mama Lous, I was your restaurant at about 20:15 AND I walk out this evening (Monday 6 Oct 25) and I wanted you to know why. I walked in the door at 7:40 pm, and waited until 7:45 to get seated. I was seated on the North wall in the no smoking section. The thin Dark haired girl with glasses finally got over to take my order at 4:45. A simple order of a bakers dozen. . 3 scrambled eggs, 3 strips of bacon 3 pancakes and a bit of ham with iced tea. At 7:50 P.M. She got the order turned in at the grill. At 8:00 P.M. I was still waiting and they were delivering the order of the two men sitting two booths to the WEST of me. . (they ordered right before I) (10 Minutes waiting now) At 8:10 P.M. I still don't have my order, it isn't up, and my waitress as never stopped back by to check on me, or bother to tell me it should be up in a moment. (20 Minutes waiting now) At 8:15 The waitress is coming out of the smoking section, she seems upset. . my order is nowhere to be seen, (I have been waiting for the order for 25 minutes. ) I would add that I do not have all night. Finally she walks by again and into the smoking section. I fish $3.00 out of my wallet to pay for the iced tea, and leave it on the table. I recognize that 25 minutes is way too long for a simple breakfast order, get up and walk out the door. .. I look out as I am getting into my vehicle and maybe they are starting to realize I have left. It had been 30 minutes since I walked in and 25 minutes since my order was taken. I had eaten there before, about 6 months back. . not bad, but nothing to write home about. I won't ever be back. . . I wouldn't want to bother you. W. Horton

Parking lot looks like a dump, trash everywhere. I hate that. Makes me question their level of pride. Thankfully the dining room was better. Showed up after 10 pm, when this place can turn into a side show of drunkards and oddballs. Which I wouldn't have minded so much except that the group behind us was drunk and loudly dropping the F-bomb all meal long, with little kids around. Oh well, partially my fault I suppose. Mama Lou's is a homey, greasy spoon, 24 hour diner complete with retro smoking and non-smoking sections. Thankfully the areas are very much separate with wall and door, no smoke odor creep whatsoever. Servers are excellent, very friendly and attentive, as a homey diner should be. This is the kinda place where everybody knows your name. Food was average diner fare. Battered fries were probably the best part, cooked right and crispy. The rest was forgettable. Philly cheesesteak was small, kinda bland and soggy. Too little cheese. Kid's catfish plate didn't come with fillets as advertised, instead they were fish sticks. Fish was stringy inside with dark patches of meat, not good. But prices are very fair. I didn't try their breakfast, which gets the most talk by far. Maybe next time. I'm between a 2 and 3 here, but service bumped it up.

I had the Oklahoma signature dish, the chicken fried wagyu steak. The gravy was tasty and mashed potatoes and green beans were a delicious combination to it. I hadn't had a chicken fried steak in a decade, it hit the spot! When they put hubs' rotisserie chicken on the plate (we were right by the kitchen), my eyes nearly popped out of my head! That thing looked beautiful. He said it was tender and juicy. He left nothing behind. (He did swap out the sides for something keto friendly). The kid devoured his cheeseburger and fries. We also got him just a scoop of vanilla ice cream as he didn't want anything else from the dessert menu. They were super accommodating. For dessert I had the peach cobbler. That finished off my palette nicely. I didn't finish it, so it's definitely a dessert to share. After a long hot day at the water park, this was an excellent choice to end the night. Reservations are smart but if it's not super busy you might be okay. Our server was also very friendly and sweet. Thank you for a wonderful meal!

Our spirits rose when we were told Jack Rabbit could take us in about 5 minutes. We had an uneven dining experience from there. Bottom line: 1 star for service but 4 stars for delicious food. The first service problem was my wife's iced tea order. When our server brought our table's drinks, she explained that they were brewing more iced tea. No iced tea arrived by the time our bread appetizer came to the table, bao my wife ordered a soda instead. The iced tea finally arrived just before our check. The next service problem was with a mixed up order. Our server brought out two plates and set the smash burger in front the person in our party who ordered it. He took a bite and said it tasted great. Then our server came back with a concerned look on her face and admitted to bringing the burger to the wrong table. Oops! Since the diner in our party had already taken a bite, he kept his burger and fries. The third problem was with another order. One person in our party ordered the Jack Rabbit salad. The menu description included rotisserie chicken, but there was very little chicken in the salad that came to the table. The person who ordered it informed our server and she took it back to ask the chef about it. When our server came back, she had no fixed salad. The person who ordered the salad was frustrated and asked for the salad to go since the rest of us were finished with our meals but that time. As mentioned above all of our food was delicious. My beef short rib and sides were out of this world. The beef was tender and filled with umami. The presentation was stunning with the long bone sticking out. The carrots were crisp tender and included both orange and purple carrots. My favorite side was the smashed potatoes. I expected mashed potatoes, but I was more than pleased with these smashed potatoes. They appeared to be cooked by smashing baby potatoes into a skillet with plenty of butter or oil. Some bites were crispy from contact with the skillet. Other bites were more creamy because they had more potato flesh in them. I would gladly eat these potatoes again. The menu has other items I might try on a future visit, but given our poor service and the higher than average menu prices, this fits better as special occasion dining for my family. We can't afford a final bill of $100 for the 4 of us on a regular basis.

We were told we could not eat because we did not have reservations. We asked if we could possibly take a bar top or outside the waitress said no. This time we had a reservation and arrived 30 mins early when we got there we gave them our name and the waitress said it would be 45 mins. We asked if we could possibly get seated early since we were there (9:30 am) without looking at the schedule or the room she replied "No 45 mins". We turned and left. We had not been gone 10 mins and got a text saying our table was ready. I canceled the reservation. We ate at one of the hotels downtown and it was lovely. I did book this reservation a day early. Will not be booking again. Very disappointed.

Right away, the vibe stands out--lots of cool memorabilia that gives the diner a nostalgic, laid-back feel. We were seated quickly and got our drinks without any delay, which is always a plus. I went with the country ham steak, eggs over easy, hash browns, and rye toast. Overall, it was a solid breakfast. The eggs were cooked just right, and the hash browns had good flavor, though they weren't quite as crispy as I had requested. The ham steak, unfortunately, leaned a bit on the dry side, which took it down a notch. My wife ordered the classic combo--bacon, eggs, hash browns, plus a biscuit with gravy. She was happy with her meal, and it checked the boxes for a traditional diner breakfast. In the end, it's a decent spot for breakfast with a great atmosphere, but nothing that really stood out or wowed us.
