Ate at Chelly's Cafe with my family today. Very nice restaurant and very clean. Food was excellent and the young lady who I assumed was the owner, was very cordial and kind. Checked on our table at least 3 times to make sure everything was fine. Very nice to find a mom and pop location that we will patronizing instead of going to corporate restaurants. My boyfriend and I came here, just to try something new and support a community restaurant. The space was very open. You could look in one direction and be able to see everyone in the dining area. Personally I didn't like this because I found myself either staring outside, at an interesting wall, or a person. I ordered a Western Bacon cheeseburger, which was alright, but very sticky. My fries looked like the cook needed to change the oil. My boyfriend ordered a meatloaf sandwich,which he loved. I thought the gravy was too peppery, but as you can tell, I am very picky. In spite of all the things I didn't like, I am sure I will come again because 1)they got my order right 2) they were nice 3) it was very inexpensive. I can't believe that i have been coming here for over a year now and I've never wrote a review on this wonderful place! What inspired me was that today, while i was there on my weekly lunch with my sister, a couple of our city firefighters were there picking up their lunch. Chelly, who is the owner (and most gracious person), gave them their lunch for free. I heard her say that she appreciates them. I just sat there thinking how sweet she is for that. Food is great a little pricey but worth it. Service, however, has been getting worse each time I come in. You pretty much have to be an "insider" in order to get attention. I can get coffee right away but forget about the refills and today I couldn't even get a carrot muffin. After over 20 minutes of listening to the waitress yap to the insiders about family matters, I left, thats when she came over to pick up the money I left for my coffee. I come here at least twice a month and always tip well. If not for the food I would never go back. It will be a while before I do. read more

If I could give no stars I would. We took our kids here today after attempting another breakfast place in the av which was to crowded. I looked this up on yelp and decided to try it based on reviews. I got the Guadalajara breakfast with the Coffee cake muffin, my husband got machaca (he loves crazy ottos machaca) our three kids got pancakes and bacon. First off let me say that it's a rather small building it had so many people and it was extremely noisy. Which is fine with three kids. A guy brought us drinks and it was not to long of a wait but after the drinks came nothing. Another waitress picked up our table and it took forever to take our order. But that was the least of the problem. The food finally came and holy crap... It was such small portions looked of grease and messiness. I was so mad because i usually am an extremely healthy eater, for me to actually go get a huge breakfast that isn't quite the healthiest is rare. I was excited to eat something tasty. The kids pancakes would not even cut, they smelled like disgusting add water batter, the kids stated the bacon was nasty which my kiddos love them some bacon, my food was so gross I can't even fathom to you how disgusting it was. The biscuits and gravy was pure disgusting. My husband ordered them and I tried a bite. So nasty. We had to wait forever for the check so I actually just walked to the cashier and paid. Felt disgusting after eating here're food was Terrible. Save your money. I'm pretty sure Denny's would have been way better. read more

I have heard so many good things about Chelly's Cafe, so I finally decided to give it a try. I placed a phone order for pick up for me and a couple of my coworkers. When I got to Chelly's to pick up my food, I was just handed my food with the total Amount needing to be paid. No "Hello, how are you?" Nothing.. I then opened the already closed and tied shut to go orders to make sure everything was correct and there, (as I am picking up multiple orders) when I am told by an older lady working the front and tables "can you hurry up and pay and then check your food, we're really busy" I was completely shocked as I have never been told this. Usually, I am shown my food before it is placed in the bag or am asked to make sure it is all there. I then told her "I'm sorry, I just want to make sure everything is here and correct before I pay" she just looked at me and said "can you just pay and if it's not we will fix it, I have to get to these tables" she could tell how upset I was that she then started being super "sweet" Very unfortunate as the food was very good. but I will not be returning for a second try. Great customer service is everything! Especially for small businesses where everything is word of mouth. I Nor my Northrop Grumman Employees will be returning .... after speaking with someone come to find out the lady was actually the owner.. Sad. If you are so busy, maybe you should hire more employees. Just a thought. read more

I've been in several times and there is no constancy! One time you go in EVERYTHING is wonderful then you go in and the service is terrible. I think she has family working with her. The owner is great but she can't be everywhere. When she works the floor then the food suffers - burnt, cold, and nasty. Then she's in kitchen and the service is rotten. You can't get certian items on a constant basis ie. muffins: Go one day they have cinnamon coffee cake, next day NO. Sometimes food not to good. I hate to bring race up but I noticed certian race gets perferred treatment - served first, food seems to come out quicker. Hope I'm wrong but thats what I see. read more

So I visited this facility about a week ago and It had a nice atmosphere to it, a bit small but staff was nice. However I ordered a sausage omelette with a side of hashbrowns and a small muffin. I also ordered a orange juice but when I tasted it I expected a fresh orange juice but all I got was a dark orange juice that tasted like the artificial Tampico juice. When my order got to my table it was much smaller then I anticipated from the price I saw at the menu I thought it would be something more like the plates at TOMS restaurant since their both very similar in pricing. You definitely don't get more bang for your buck here at Chellys Cafe. Don't mistake me I'm a petite girl with a average appetite but I feel like they are overpriced for the food that they deliver. My hashbrowns were a little overcooked to the point were I didn't even eat it all because it gave me the burnt after taste. I didn't want to complain so I just left it as is. My hashbrowns definitely had no definition and it looked like they just gathered them up in a ball and squished with a cup or something. I understand the hard work of a new upcoming business but personally I would not recommend them nor go into this restaurant again. read more

Wow. Anyone that doesn't have the most redeeming breakfast here is doing so on their own accord. A glorious contemporary take on the classic sit down and order breakfast/lunch on a ticket diner style. I had the pleasure of enjoying some chicken fried steak, hashies and eggs/a muffin and let me tell you, you truly get your money's worth here both in size and delectability; and such personalized friendly service! The ambience can get very loud very fast if busy enough but for the most part, its exceedingly chill. Nothing special about the coffee, like I said it's diner coffee, haha, but the music was at exactly the right volume. Not too loud, not straining to hear. For once, there's also plenty of parking! A whole lot with no tow-away signs! I do wish they opened just an hour earlier because nothing could be looking out their window which has a clear view of the east horizon. And for such a small staffed and sized location, the menu is surprisingly big, definitely inviting enough for multiple visits back. Not to mention the sheer speed of service; I ordered and BOOM 5 mins later I was chowing. All in all, most likely one of the best if not THE BEST breakfast place I've ever been to. My husband and I made a day trip to Palmdale to shop and decided to try some where different. I checked out Yelp to see what was getting rave reviews and decided on Chelley's. The highlight of breakfast was the homemade banana nut muffin.... Beyond that breakfast was average. My husband got corn beef and hash mainly because it said our own corned beef; needless to say he felt it was from the can. I went out of my norm and had chicken fried steak and boy did I regret that one. I make better chicken fried steak and this came off again as though it was bought off a US Foods truck in a frozen box with gravy from a bag. The coffee was good, strong just like my husband likes it and the service is great. Honestly you can do just as well at IHOP except that muffin was delicious. We won't be coming back.... Onto a different place next time.... Hope to not drive two hours for sub average breakfast that I could have 30 minutes away in Ridgecrest.
