Having owned a successful janitorial and maid service for nearly 20 yrs in Va. Beach and New Orleans, I and my management strove for relationships, not dollars, and our clients were loyal and we delivered, 7 days a week! No, you can't please everyone, but you can and should put forth a sincere effort, realizing that no business can exist without patronage. If the owner/management of the Gardena, CA Chem-Dry would focus more on customer service, it would be a great company; although it took more than 14 hours to dry, my carpet is clean and that really is all that I wanted! My problem? The tech was more like a high-pressure salesman, insistent on trying to scare me into purchasing services I clearly didn't need AND had the audacity to need to use MY water! I paid for up to 750 sq. ft. of carpet to be cleaned, only needed 350 sq. ft, even paid an extra $30 for 12 steps and a landing, and received NO courtesies, instead quite the contrary. It was suggested that I had to pay extra for a hallway measuring about 50 sq ft, at best! It was then that I had to let this tech know I was through with his blind sales approach. He couldn't comprehend that I was working (at my desk) and did not want to play this game of "bait and switch" with him; I wasn't in the mood. When I called to voice my concern for their business practices, management belittled my disappointment and mocked me, talking over me, interrupting my sentences and laughing at me. To only solidify my view of management, my check was cashed faster than my carpet dried. Apparently they thought I might have their same disposition; but no, I paid for my services with a good check AND, only because it is how I am professionally, I tipped the tech, although much, much less than a courteous tech would have gotten. Because the end result was clean carpet, and I suspect it is the way he was trained, to press for sales, that caused him to treat me in the manner that he did. I've stomached and read some of the responses by Simon on Yelp.com and I see that he only sees "complaints", not constructive criticism he should seriously consider to be truly competitive. Later, my husband discovered the tech's eyeglasses left in our home. I politely called the same awful Simon back and again, with his snobbish "we don't need your business" attitude, he was even condescending with that. I'd rather pull out my retired uniform and professionally clean my own carpets than to have to go through that again. Shame on Chem-Dry!!!!! read more

Update! I reported the company to the Better Business Bureau and in response to my complaints...they copy and pasted advertising information from their website about their revolutionary PURT product. I couldn't believe it!!! Then they stated that my contract states "there is no miracle cure for pet odor." This company completely contradicts themselves by boasting about their cutting-edge product and then putting in the fine print that it doesn't actually work. BUYER BEWARE! read more

This was my first time going to a professional for a carpet cleaning and I have to say I was nervous about the results. I usually rent a machine but they can be such a hassle. With that said, I was pleased from the moment they picked up the phone. The lady who made my appointment was lovely and gave me an hour window for arrival, 9-10 am. Garrett arrived at 9 am on the dot with a smile on his face and a positive attitude. He explained to me what he was going to do, and even upsold me on the hot carbonated treatment. I left the house while he worked and when I came back i was stunned at the beautiful job that he did! Not only did he do a fabulous job, but he did it in the time he promised us. Do not use this carpet cleaning company! Very unprofessional and rude manager on the phone told me that he would not honor the Groupon that I purchased because it was for my office. The manager would not work with me at all and lied to me and told me that they do not service businesses. When asked if I paid in cash if he would service my business, he said "yes, definitely." We purchased a group-on for 3 rooms with the basic service ( surface clean) and I scheduled an appointment for 3 days later. Our carpets were in terrible shape as we have not had them cleaned in 3 years and had a cat living here until recently. I was embarrassed to have people over the carpet had gotten so bad and I thought it was past the point of cleaning. Needless to say Darren Edgar, the technician, showed up right on time and did the most amazing job!!! He recommended the deep clean for $25 more per room but we decided to see what the basic clean would do first for fear neither would really work. He did an incredible job! He was through and took the time needed on stains. He got out a stain that was here before we moved in (even though we did do a deep clean before moving in we thought the stain was there forever!) Regardless, Darren was professional, answered all of our questions, and did a wonderful job cleaning our carpets. I would highly recommend Darren and Clean Masters. Now that I know our carpets are cleanable I will go for the deep clean next time to really get in there. Great job!!! read more

Had my carpets cleaned by Chem-Dry today and it was a great experience. I bought a 4-room special off Groupon. I was a bit skeptical at first, but based on most of the reviews here I took a chance and glad I did. I bought the Groupon deal late Friday afternoon and made an appointment for the very next day (awesome). I had a 12-3pm that seemed pretty long, but the technician (Arturo) called me at 11:30am to let me know he was on his way. Arturo arrived at noon and was very professional. He inspected my carpets and did recommend the hot extraction upgrade service, but since my carpets were in pretty good shape (not very old) I declined and went with the standard cleaning and deodorizing. Arturo did a great job and the carpets look fantastic. He also did my closets and a few throw rugs (extra charge). In the past, I've rented the machines from grocery stores and did the job myself but it took almost an entire afternoon and then several hours until they dried. No more. I am now sold on having them done professionally by Chem-Dry. read more

WOW! Is putting it mildly. This is an honest review everyone. My carpets were so stained from soda and "mystery junk" from my oldest son's room, plus a few doggie accidents from our senior corgi in a couple other rooms. First, the appointment set up was a breeze and they were very accommodating to my busy schedule. Secondly, Sam was fantastic. Not only was he nice, fast and efficient, he did such a superior job the carpets literally came out looking new! This is great when you're moving out of a rental apartment. Well, after years of working with Chem-Dry, I'm afraid, I'm done. Arturo came out an hour Late, and basically BS'ed his way through the clean. He was supposed to clean the Turkish rug & the sofa, but he never moved the coffee table, much less the rug, not to mention the carpet under the rug. In the dining room/office, I had moved the chairs and side tables. Arturo was to move the paper-shredder, (seriously) the table with another Turkish rug, under the Turkish rug, behind the trash bin... In the living room, I had left two, 3lbs weights on the carpet and he said-no worries, I will take care of this. Well he didn't, nor did he move a (light weight) chair. I was so disappointed, I called the office, and they sent, Arturo out again. This time he had a sour attitude and tried to tell Me the office forgot to tell him that he was supposed to be there at 8 A.M. I'm really bothered because, I've liked the product, the guys who've come to my home and the work they have done. They have lost my business, trust & my recommendation. read more

Let me begin by saying that I have NEVER left a bad Yelp review... ever. However, my experience this morning has left me no choice. Rudy showed up at my house to clean my sofa and immediately said he couldnt do the job because he doesn't have a long enough hose (this is while he was standing at my front door) he hadnt even seen the location of the sofa yet.. anyway after some back and forth I said I would move the sofa to the garage where he could pull his van literally 5 feet from the sofa. He still didn't want to do the job. I put the cushions in the garage and told him the sofa would be moved within 10 minutes so he could start on the cushions. I had my neighbors come help move the couch immediately and as we rounded the corner to the garage we saw that Rudy just left! No goodbye, nothing and he didn't touch the cushions. Just walked off the job. He was so rude and disrespectful from the moment I opened the door. I felt threatened even. It was clear he just didn't want to work. I solved every problem he brought up and literally brought the couch to his van and he was still trying to come up with reasons not to compete the job. I called his supervisor (he was nice) and I really hope they make this right. He couldn't send another tech today even tho I took the day off of work and Uber my kids to school to be there for this service I feel completely disrespected, put out, embarrassed to have bothered my neighbors for nothing... all with what should have been an easy 30 min job. Arturo never showed. Called the company and no answer for over an hour left voice mail still no call back. Finally reach someone who just says oh there was a bigger job and he is running late so it will be know 4 hours from your scheduled time. Unacceptable when you take time out to do something have an appointment for over a week and when you are running late call and let the customer know. I have used them for years but never again. And Brittany the customer service rep was useless and others have noted these people just lie and cover for each other. read more

When I scheduled my cleaning I was given a 12-3pm window. I was called at 3:30pm saying they would be there between 4-4:30pm. I was upset because I scheduled my cleaning at 12-3pm because my kids were going to be away around at that time but once Sam arrived he was extremely nice and told me his assistant called in sick and he had a huge project to finish on his own. This is the LAST time I will ever use this particular Chem Dry service. I had made a note in my file NOT to use Cobblestone Chem Dry (which I used in the past) and now I know why Clean Masters Chem Dry was so bad! It is owned/operated by the same people! I have used Chem Dry Cleaners for the past 20 years in all my homes. I know and understand the service and the clean ability of the product. This time, yesterday, April 16, 2012 was the worst cleaning and service I have ever gotten. The man was late, not a big deal, but I was the first appointment in the morning. As soon as he entered I knew he was not going to be good by his attitude, he would not even look me in the eye or answer my few questions (like what to do about dog throw up on the carpet). He vacuumed (which I always do the night before because I know my vacuum is better), proceeded to apply the product, which I had requested the deep cleaning, and was to be charged for two deep cleaning and one surface cleaning and one area rug. He NEVER brought in the deep cleaner piece, proceeded to use the round rags in each room, when I looked in the rooms the spots were very evident and I had to ask him to see if they would come out, they did with on more swirl. Then I bent down to see how wet the carpets were, ALL were basically totally DRY! He did not use deep cleaning which he was charging me. He did not clean the carpet. I threw him out before he could "clean" my area rug. I paid less than was charged but now I am sorry that I paid anything. The carpets were NOT cleaned. The cleaners name was Manny. I was supposed to be charged $152.00, I paid them $100.00 thinking that something must have gotten cleaned. I am very sorry I paid anything! DO NOT use this company. By the way, I get my carpets cleaned about every 5-6 months. The carpet is three years old. It is never really dirty, just bedrooms. I am just neurotic about them being clean. DO NOT USE this Chem Dry service. BEWARE. Clean Masters/Cobblestone Chem Dry.....do not use. I called to report this to the owner. He is aware of my dissatisfaction. read more

If zero stars where an option I would give them zero stars! I purchased a Groupon and called his company, gave them my zip code, and they said that they serviced that area. I had purchased carpet cleaning for $59 to include three rooms up to 750ft.My entire apartment is not over 750 ft. My dining room and living room are one room. They said that they consider my dining room and living room two rooms because I have a dining room or kitchen table placed in that section of the room and call it a dining room. Even though it is completely one room unobstructed by any walls or anything. Therefore, if I wanted to get my hallway also cleaned it was going to cost me a an additional dollar per square foot. After I gave them my address, they told me they did not service that part of Los Angeles even though earlier they told me they serviced my zip code, no problem. The fact that they would not service my area is not specified in the actual Groupon that I purchased. I called Groupon, they were very nice and gave me a refund quickly. Besides the fact that their advertising about areas they service is misleading, based on the fact that they wanted to charge me extra for my very small hallway when it is not a extra room, I would seriously not recommend this company to anyone ever read more

Bought their carpet cleaning services on Groupon. Found out AFTER the purchase that it wasn't for a deep cleaning but rather a maintenance cleaning. The poor business ethics in their marketing was enough for me to decline their services and return my order. On 8/31/15 one guy showed up and cleaned our carpets quicker than I've ever seen done in the past (less than 1.5 hours). So while he was still there I looked at the carpets and noticed dark spots still on the stairs and several other places throughout the house. He assured me that once the carpet dried the spots would go away. The next day the spots were still there. I called and spoke with someone who said I had two weeks to have them come back to clean the carpets again. Unfortunately, we had family coming in the next day to stay with us for two weeks, so I could not have the carpets wet during the time everyone was here. Plus we had a big 60th Anniversary party scheduled for my in-laws. So $310.95 went down the drain. I will never use this Chem Dry location again. read more

I purchased a groupon for up to 3 rooms for $59. Before I purchased I called to ask a few questions because I only have one room and stairs with carpet. I was told the 3 rooms could not be used toward the stairs which I understood. I then asked if I could use it for other rugs in the house and they said yes. So I went ahead and ordered the groupon because I have a few area rugs. When the technician showed up I was told they could not clean any area rugs as apart of the three rooms and that it would be an extra charge of $30 to clean 1 5x7 area rug! I told him I spoke to someone before I purchased the groupon and was told I could since I only have one room. He said there are no notes so he would have to charge me. Had I known this was going to be the case I would not have purchased this groupon. How can area rugs be more than two other rooms that were included in the groupon? I have had 1 room, stairs and all my area rugs cleaned for $100.. Beware of additional up charges and make sure to ask them to note any deviations. read more

Bought a Groupon as they popped up as "local" on my phone. They do not serve my area. Neither they nor Groupon will refund me.

Let me start off by saying the guys who came we're on time polite. They had me sign a questionnaire but they didn't write on it anything on it they said it's just a signature to start the job upon starting to vacuum they noticed they did not have a particular suction so one guy left and was gone 45 minutes three hours later my rugs were done not the best but they were done. Then the guy had me sign the paperwork saying that they were done and it notes on the paper saying after cleaning I inspected the complete job the technician pointed out the following they did not let me inspect and he didn't point out anything he put away all his stuff and then said we're done do you want to sign this and asked for the money in the meantime I called the owner Simon which was not very nice rude and basically said I'm not gonna do anything for you because The other guy had to sit around waiting to 45 minutes and he was gone know what should've taken an hour took three hours this company is a joke and I would definitely never uses company again what a waste of three hours read more
