I contacted Chem Wise in Berwyn via their website to get a quote about their exterior ant spraying services. i received an email immediately afterwards (I am assuming it was auto generated) saying that I would hear back from them by the following day. After a few days passed with not hearing back from them, I sent a follow up email to them. It has now been almost two weeks without response. The company may do their job well (which, of course, I can't confirm or deny) but their lack of response shows very poor initial customer service. read more

They say they come out and they don't, they are supposed to come out three times a year, they don't leave anything stating they came, I still have bugs and I had a small mouse in my house so it seems to not be working. I tried to cancel and they told me I have to have a zero balance to cancel but they can't prove they came. If you want more info - We had ants crawling in through the floor under our back patio door. We have small kids and a small dog and are very anti-exposing them to chemicals unnecessarily. Jim put a few tiny dots of a gel underneath the round board along the wall - where the kids could not reach it - and it solved the ant problem. We had mice that were scratching in the walls and ceilings. We tried catching them ourselves for a while and it was only getting us so far. Jim placed black boxes in the crawl space, garage and basement. He came back 2 weeks later and could tell by the activity where the mice were. The black boxes have some kind of food in them that mages the mouse thirsty so it leaves the house looking for water. Afterward, he sealed up the holes we had. On the following visit, there was no mice activity in the food in the boxes. The mice, and the aggravating scratching sounds, are gone. Hooray! It's reassuring to know Chem-wise will come back at no extra cost if we have future issues. I am on their tri-annual program. They bug spray outside 3 times a year, and come back at no extra cost to address mice or ants if needed. read more

Called and spoke to a really friendly woman who I explained the issue to and she even steered me away from requesting the removal service since I didn't actually know what the problem was, just that I was seeing what looked like some sort of pest droppings. She had actually recommended their free inspection. Great! At this point I'm thinking I actually found a quality business that will do a good job. She told me they would need to turn the business over to a more local facility and that I would be getting a call back from this more local facility by the next day... That was 2 weeks ago without a call. Could I call them back? Sure, but I shouldn't have to, I'll just give my business to another provider that actually knows how to follow through... after all, if I can't get them to follow through on a phone call, how can I really expect them to follow through on pest removal? I had an appt scheduled for my parents to have beehives removed yesterday. I paid them ahead of time bc I wasn't going to be there. My parents stayed home waiting for them and no technician was ever to be seen. I called an hr after the scheduled appt and I was told the technician was running late but he for sure would make it to my parent's house. My parents waited longer and he simply never showed up. The next day the company agreed to give me a refund but it doesn't change the fact that they wasted my parent's time when they had things to do. I have been working with this company for several years now and i am super happy with them. I get the three times a year service which means they come out there times a year and spray outside (and inside if needed) and do preventive work based on the season and the types of pests. The nice thing about them is the continuity of service because same person is assigned to the area and services your home. I really like this because they know what's been problematic in the past etc. Rob is our regular guy and he is really thorough. I switched to Chem-Wise after a year of incredibly unsatisfactory and frustrating service with a different big-name pest company (Who not only would charge me when they didn't perform a service, but who also said, "Oh, you have a mouse problem? There's not really anything we can do...Just live with them!"). I have had Chem-Wise for six months now and am continually impressed and amazed by their customer service! Not only did their knowledgeable service techs initially examine and bait to figure out where the mice were getting in (we had to pull up some deck boards to get to the house foundation underneath the deck), but once we uncovered the area they came and filled all of the gaps with steel wool and spray foam. Service techs have since come more than once a month (included in yearly plan, no extra charge) to check the traps to ensure there was decreasing activity AND we have been mouse free for over a month now!! I cannot say enough good things about this company and the guys who service our area. I didn't realize they also did mosquito treatments for the yard, and will be switching to them for this service as well. I had a problem with ants destroying my patio. I hired Chem-Wise. They said their treatment would last 90 days, and they talked me into treating the whole area around my house. Front yard, back yard, two side yards and patio. They guaranteed their service for 90 days. In less than 3 weeks the ants were back. They came out again, and sprayed just the patio. Ants were back in less than 4 days. I disputed the charges on my credit card which they are contesting. They want to come out and continually spray poison until they are gone. They said they told me they don't guarantee it would totally get rid of the ants. They NEVER told me that, which conflicts with their 90 guarantee. I do not want any more poison sprayed around my house, I have pets and asthma. Their first service should have worked. I went to Home Depot and found a non-toxic product that I have used with success. They talked me into treating EVERY bit of grass on my property, because ants can travel long distances, well it was just a scam. They simply need to leave the credit in place and get on with their business. read more

The only reason ChemWise is getting 2 stars is because we had a problem with mice 3 years ago and they were able to help us with that issue. The 2nd time we have had mice, we are 45 days in an still have a problem. They have been out numerous times and the only person that has seemed remotely experienced was the manager, Luke, that came out after I complained about their services. They have literally been to my house 3-4 times and the mice issue continues. I brought in another highly recommended company today and he was more thorough in his checking of the premises in ONE HOUR of his visit, then the Chemwise folks have been in the several visits they have made here. The lesson here is that many years of experience is key, and the Chemwise team doesn't have it. I was initially drawn to them bc they were poison free, but the weight of having some poison in my house vs mice running through my living areas during the day for over a month (with a toddler, no less) was much better in the end. read more

I had sugar ants coming out of my cabinets in my new house. I was told the only time they could come out to treat was around 10 a.m. I was at work during those hours so I stupidly agreed to allow them access to my house. Dave, the owner, explained that the outside would be sprayed and that the inside would be treated as well. When I arrived home at 11 a.m. I noticed that the outside was dry and there were muddy footprints all over my brand new carpet. Worse, my neighbor stated that the worker was only there for maybe 20 minutes and I spent nearly $200 for this!!!!? When I called the office, it seemed like no one cared about customer service at all. Save your money and shop online for pesticides, DO NOT HIRE THIS SCAM ARTIST !!!!!!!! read more

Had mice. Called Chem-wise PEST CONTROL. STILL have mice!!! Employee didn't seem very knowledgeable but was very nice and personable. He explained that he was going to use bait and then come back in two weeks to plug up the holes. One month later he finally came out, but was there for only 10 minutes or so. I still have a problem with mice, but the manager there doesn't seem to think it's a big deal. I found the hole myself and plugged it . Call Anderson pest control.
