Great little place for Chinese food. Good atmosphere. For starters I had Egg Flower (Drop) soup and and the biggest Egg Roll I have ever had. Both served hot and fresh. Very good. If I had not had main course still coming I would have order another Egg Roll. That good. For my main course I had General Tso chicken with vegetable fried rice. Again both served hot and fresh. The wife and I are at Chen's on a Saturday with our two little boys. The staff were extremely friendly and didn't complain we brought the kids fast food in (we weren't planning on coming until after we picked it up for them). We split general tsos white meat chicken and both got hot and sour soup and an egg roll. The egg roll was huge. The soup was good. The general tsos was very good. Definitely a different size piece of meat than typical but it was a pleasant variation. I'd return. read more

They looked a bit understaffed. That's why the service was a bit slow and delayed. The lady who served us looked to be in a hurry but she was fast and efficient. We ordered Hot and Sour Soup, Crab Rangoon, Egg Roll, Phoenix and Dragon ( a combination of general Tso's chicken and shrimp), and sizzling shrimp. The soup was good. The egg roll was big but nothing special in terms of flavor. Crab Rangoon was OK too. The dishes were sizable. Well seasoned and well prepared, our dishes were good and likable. I'm a traveler and heavily rely on another app that works like a Mapquest for those with dietary issues, unsure I can mention. Or here or not but it's Find Le Gluten Free if I can). I discovered this little gem on there. Jones's food is difficult to find when they truly understand an allergy because the very essential ingredient soy sauce contains gluten and without that you've got no base. Chan's got it right according to the reviews on the other app and after visiting I can confirm. The standalone building with a nice fountain and entry way led us to our table by one of the fish tanks. We were presented menus and I decided on the walnut chicken, my guest on the orange chicken, both gluten free. I read reviews stating those dishes could be done gluten free and our waitress again confirmed. Unfortunately the orange chicken came out without breading but not surprisingly knowing how difficult separate fryers and a coating would be. My walnut chicken, the same. The portions were huge and the flavors were perfect. The orange chicken did carry some heat-be warned! Large bowls of fried and regular white rice cake with them, respectively. I enjoyed every bite and both had plenty of leftovers for an additional full meal. I think the only criticism I would have is that you were told that the dish would be altered and not how usually presented. I know that was a bit of a letdown for the orange chicken order and might have swayed the vote for what to order. I met my friend here for dinner around 5:30 on a Monday evening. The place wasn't real full but the dining area was pretty large with a lot of seating. We were seated quickly and waited on right away. My friend and I met there to catch up and the waitress was really patient with us as we took awhile to decide what we were ordering. I decided on a Chicken Cashew dish - one of my go to's dishes at other restaurants. This dish was super flavorful and it was so much food! I ended up taking half of my entree home. It was a great, laid back atmosphere to catch up. Price wise, it was a little on the higher end but if I am taking a large portion of my meal home, it doesn't become an issue. Overall, another solid restaurant with solid cuisine. Maybe we will order takeout in the near future?! read more

We've had nothing but good experiences with Chen's over the last year. Their General Tso's, chicken with broccoli, mixed vegetables, lo mein and egg rolls are all superb. They are more pricey than most Chinese restaurants in the area, but I think it's worth it. On one hand their turnaround time when you place an order is amazing (has not taken more than 15 minutes from phone call to pick up). That said, info wish they offered delivery even if it was through a third party service. read more

I have ordered here on a few occasions, and I have enjoyed my food. Tonight, I ordered beef with broccoli. I set the bag in the car and headed straight home. When I got home and picked up the bag, I was dismayed to find brown sauce everywhere - inside the plastic bag (which had a hole, of course), on the passenger seat, everywhere. The contents had not fallen over or spilled, but the paper bag surrounding the food was soaked and shredded. Brown sauce everywhere but on the food, and it was the worst order that I have ever had here. I called to explain what I found, and there is apparently a credit for the next time I order. The food is amazing, I got the lo mein. It is not my first time at that restaurant. I do not appreciate one of the younger waitresses though, she gave me and my friends attitude when we told her that we are Deaf. This was in November. But it was a small blip in an otherwise very good night. The restaurant felt like 90s vibe, and we LOVE IT!!!!! So much!!!!! We will definitely come back but please do some sensitivity training with your employees on how to handle Deaf people. Other than that we love this place, and will keep coming back. My friend and I visited here for lunch today and I was impressed to say the least. We were seated immediately and our waitress so friendly and helpful with all the questions we had. I ordered the General Tso's Chicken. It normally comes with fried rice and your choice of soup, but I substituted it for white rice and an egg roll. The food came out very promptly. Pittsburgh is one of the worst places on planet Earth so I was not happy to be there or contribute any money into the local economy. But Chen's? Yeah, I'd go there again. Please take my money. Also it helps that it's technically in Cranberry and not Pittsburgh. Was the food amazing? Well... yes and no. My gigantic(!) spring roll was cold inside and the hot and sour soup was fine. Most places the soup is bad so I was actually satisfied with the soup. But the reason I'd return is that chicken in my general tso's was ridiculously good. Lightly fried but still ultra crisp. Can't ask for more. They definitely didn't weigh it down with batter. I wish the sauce was less sweet and more hot but I'd certainly return and try the orange chicken or any other dish. The friend I took said the pepper steak was the second best he's had in his life and he orders just ONE dish when at a Chinese restaurant. That means it's ranked #2 out of every single Chinese restaurant where a 30+ year old man has eaten. That's a lot of places. Not bad, Chen's. For atmosphere the koi pond was lovely. The interior looked dated in a way I enjoy. Wait staff was nice, and the patrons quietly talked shit about me from the next table and I loved it so much. Wanna start a Philly-Pittsburgh war? House of Chen offered great food at a great price. The bright blue decor and the floor plan threw me off a little but I quickly got over it. I sat with a group. last night we paid this restaurant a visit and we were not very impressed. the waitress was very sweet so no complaints. the restaurant itself is very cute and very decorated but it had an overwhelming smell of fish and mildew and was just overall dirty. we contemplated leaving once we sat down, but decided to give it a shot. we quickly regretted it. the food is what put us off the most. everything tasted old and just absolutely not worth the money. while the portions were large, the quality of the food was terrible. one of the dishes we ordered was the lemon chicken and the chicken was undercooked and tasted old, and the sauce also had a strange taste and seemed old as well. the chicken was removed off the bill and took the rest of the food to go as we lost our appetite from the experience. read more
