First time ordering from Jackie Inn. I got the Beef Chow Fun. This was great. The beef was tender, rice noodles were perfectly cooked, and the onion/scallion/bean sprouts were all delicious. Sort of reminded me of a thai drunken noodle dish. I also tried the hot and sour soup. This was good as well. Overall, nice spot. Bit more expensive than other local takeout spots, but the food was all delicious. Looking forward to trying their other food options. read more

I stopped by here this past Friday to pick up dinner for my family. My wife and I were trying to decide where to order from when I remembered the positive experience we had the last time we ate Jackie Inn. I headed online and placed our order through Toast. Toast, as a platform, does not factor in how busy a restaurant actually is and gave me a thirty minute estimate. When I arrived about thirty five minutes later, there were six other people waiting and I was told it would be another ten minutes. The inside of Jackie Inn consists of a soda cooler, an ice cream cooler, and several areas to stand and wait, but there is no seating for dining in. On this Friday night, I believe there were seven people working, with six focused on food preparation and one person handling the front. The dominant sounds in the restaurant were woks in constant use, which was actually interesting to watch. In the end, my food was ready about twenty minutes after I arrived. For the first fifteen minutes I was fine with the wait, and I am glad they are busy, but I also did not expect to spend that much of my Friday night there. For dinner, I went with the lemongrass basil chicken while my wife chose the combination lo mein along with a chicken egg roll. The menu described my dish as spicy with broccoli, red bell pepper, lemongrass, basil, and a spicy chili sauce. My wife's lo mein was described as containing flank steak, chicken, prawns, carrots, scallions, onions, and fresh egg noodles. While the container initially looked small, the food ended up filling a fairly large bowl once plated. My dish was good. The chicken was moist and juicy, and I appreciated the generous amount of broccoli and bell pepper. The sauce had good flavor, and I even picked out some lemongrass stalks deeper in the dish, but I did not find it spicy at all. My wife really enjoyed her lo mein. She mentioned that while it costs a couple of dollars more than similar places, she feels it is worth it because the food tastes fresher. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I am happy to see Jackie Inn doing good business, I think the food tastes good, and I know my wife really enjoys it. read more

Jackie Inn is such an amazing addition to the North Hills. We have way too many chains and it's so nice to not only have a non chain with amazing food. Since there are only two tables in the restaurant, we have gotten take out and delivery. We only live in Westview so the food is still pretty warm when we get it. We are in love with the dumplings and bao buns. They are some of the best in Pittsburgh. Sooooo good! Makes you want a never ending plate. We also got the beef fried rice which was really good and such a big portion we had it for dinner and lunch. The ABC Chicken is very good too which is like general Tsos. I would love to try the Mongolian beef and the lemongrass basil chicken. They also sell Penn State ice cream which is always delicious and another nice perk. The people are amazing too. So happy and smiley. They're also grateful for your busy which doesn't always happen other places. You must come and try it. You'll love it. read more

I drove by here the other day and didn't realize a new restaurant had popped up! I stopped in today to dine in and was so impressed with the food and service. The people are SO nice! The restaurant itself seems like it's set up mostly for takeout. There are two tables for guests to dine at and multiple chairs near the entrance for people to wait for their orders. The food came out really quickly after we ordered and I loved the flavors. Best Crab Rangoon I've had in Pittsburgh hands down! We ordered: - Crab Rangoon 5/5 - ABC Chicken 4.5/5 - Wok tossed prawns 5/5 - Mongolian beef 5/5 - Hong Kong noodles 3.5/5 (I realized I'm not as into crunchy noodles so next time I'll get the classic lo mein! If you like crunchy noodles - definitely order this) For dessert we had ice cream from Penn State Creamery and that was DELICIOUS! I highly recommend checking out Jackie Inn. Eventhough it was busy inside, the 2 tables were free on a Friday evening so we ate in. We ordered quickly at the counter. Service was pretty fast. The pork bao appetizer consists of 2 large steamed buns full of tasty meat filling. The ribs appetizer had too little meat for me so I can't say much about the flavor. The salt and pepper calamari are light and crispy. My husband really liked his wonton soup. I found the hot and sour soup to be spicy but one-note. I have ordered a couple of times from Jackie Inn and have been impressed both times. The pot stickers (dumplings) are light and just the right amount of filling to dough. The crab Rangoon's are a délite. We have had the ABC Chx and Mongolian Beef multiple times. Both dish are made with fresh ingredients, you can tell. The cost of their dishes are slightly more than other restaurants but for flavor and freshness they are top notch. Other point the dishes are not large, so order accordingly. I heard glowing reviews about Jackie Inn on the Pittsburgh foodies FB group. As such, I mentally earmarked this place. When I saw Jackie Inn as a new addition on DoorDash, I ordered & was quite excited for my dinner. The food was solid-- we opted for a veggie lo mein & ABC chicken. The food wasn't greasy, nor soggy. And the chicken was made with white meat. It would probably be even better if we had it at the restaurant. I will definitely order more and explore the menu. read more

We live just down the road and this has quickly become one of go to dinner spots. Food is always fresh and delicious. Owner is always really friendly. The walnut shrimp and fried rice are real stand outs. It's easy to miss as you go down Rochester Road but it well worth the stop. read more

1st time ordering here so i went pretty basic. Ordered Combination Lo Mein, Chicken Fried rice, and Egg Rolls. Lo Mein was good. Definitely needed soy sauce to add flavor. Got an ok amount of Beef and Chicken and about 4 decent sized shrimp, but as far as Lo Mein goes it was pretty good. Chicken Fried rice was eeeh. The chicken seemed as though it was cooked seperate shredded (no seasoning) and just thrown into the rice before boxing it up. Rice and chicken was pretty bland. Egg rolls seemed to be hit or miss. Got 2. 1 was good and had chicken and veggies but the other 1 seemed as though it was just veggies, mainly cabbage. Would go back but probably wouldnt be my 1st choice. read more

I was driving past here and hit a road closed sign, but amazingly Jackie Inn had a full parking lot. So we decided to come back after some errands, and I'm so glad we did! It definitely seems like more of a takeout place, but they had a couple of tables. We dined during a rainstorm so they had the garage-style windows open and it was lovely! Our server was super attentive despite also running takeout and delivery orders. I got the ABC chicken which is their version of general tso's. The chicken was breaded perfectly and the sauce was great with a little kick. The broccoli was served which was strange to me but still tasty. I normally don't do negative reviews unless I'm very dissatisfied with my order. We thought we would try something different tonight and ordered from Jackie inn, we've had their food a couple times before but it seems to be going way down hill, I ordered the sweet n sour chicken, the worst I've ever had, more sweet than sour with the worst over cooked chicken (was only able to eat a few pieces) it was cooked to the point of being hard. The spring rolls are great ( definitely frozen boxed). My wife's ABC chicken was very dry and bland. Will definitely not be ordering here for a while. read more

At long last, a fantastic Chinese restaurant in Pittsburgh! (Sorry, but the city's longtime faves--you know which ones I'm talking about--just aren't all that.)
