I've been coming here for decades, and while it's never been my favorite Chinese restaurant, I've stopped in from time to time because I've never had a truly bad meal. The food has always been decent enough, though I'd describe it as classic, old-school 1980s American Chinese cuisine. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was a real disappointment. We arrived for lunch around 12:30 p.m., a time when you'd expect the food to be fresh. Instead, it was obvious that much of it had been prepared well in advance and left sitting. Fried items had lost their crispness after soaking in sauce, leaving them soggy and unappetizing. No one wants fried food that's been sitting that long. All of us left disappointed. I wasn't expecting gourmet dining, but I did expect food that had been freshly prepared, especially during the lunch rush. It may be the last time I visit this location. Nashua is 100x better. Wasn't a super big portion and it was about $20. Second, it was so bland. I poured the whole packet of soy sauce on top and it just slightly made it taste like something. Went there the first time for a simple lunch on 2/15/26. The place was spacious and clean. Ordered a lunch portion seafood noodle soup for $14.95. It's a small bowl as I wanted since I wasn't hungry actually. Everything seemed to be perfectly normal, until I got the check. When I saw the check, it became $18.95. I asked the waiter. He said that it's the price for a dinner-portion seafood noodle soup. I told that I didn't order a dinner-portion but a lunch-portion. He said he knew but he changed it to dinner-portion since he thought I must be hungry. Then the lying waiter started asking me how many shrimps and scallops I ate in that bowl and "it's only two dollars more from the lunch price", etc. Not only the waiter got the math terribly wrong, his deceiving behavior also surprised me as visitor from Mass to a small, quiet town like Bow, NH. I didn't bother to call the manager since I was on my way to pick up my wife from Pats Peak. But I will never come back to this place again. Be very careful if you ever want to try this place. I was looking forward to dinner here as they are one of the few places that offer gluten free options. I got home with my food the rice was missing, the sesame chicken lacked flavor and was soggy. The food is delicious! The service can be very surprising. There are a few lovely people who work here, but I am not sure those few people or the food is worth dinning in. Management once approached my date at my table and questioned him about his tip to the waitress. Not only was it unprofessional, it was rude, and embarrassing to all of us! If he had waited, he would have seen the cash on the table that I was leaving. The next time I went there a young male server made a mistake on my meal, regarding an allergy, he then said, "It's okay, I will pay for it" and walked away before I could say anything. If there is a no star option here, I'll choose that. Customer service here was terrible. We drove from out of town and got hungry after shopping from the Outlet. We went in and got seated. Finally after 30 minutes of epic wait, someone took our order. And we waited some more like 15 minutes to have our appetizer then 20 minutes, our main course. The restaurant was not that outrageously busy. In between I asked my partner, "I'm ready to go." But we waited because it's getting late and we have a long drive back home. Food is not memorable. Consistency. You always know you'll get a great lunch or dinner. That said, I'd stick to the traditional fare and avoid any specials as they've been more misses than hits. Well I have to say that I have been here around a dozen times and have never been disappointed. I usually get the General Tso chicken, and my wife usually gets the Two brother's shrimp. These accompanied by the excellent egg rolls are your next step the heaven! Frank and Kimy run a good place, and it is great to see a restaurant that actually puts alcohol in your glass when you order a drink!!!!!!! Highly recommended for food , service and Ambiance. Wow where do I begin? My brother invited about 50 for a private party. Various apps and dishes were served. The food is what 1950s idea of American Chinese food. Noodle dishes were all overly saucy and salty. You can't tell if a deep fried piece is chicken or shrimp. Dumplings were probably defrosted and doughy. All in all inedible. Service was nonexistent. Waited 20 min for water. Coffee was served one mug at a time by clueless waitstaff. Probably took an hour to get to all those who asked. Doesn't deserve the 1 star - ewww! read more

I want to cry...this restaurant is knowingly serving people gluten, in gf marked items. My daughter is celiac and just got gluten on an item that was marked gluten free. I didn't notice until she was done that it had imitation crab in it. I assumed it was real crab, since it was marked GF. What really gets me upset is when I asked the manager about it he said it had so little gluten in it it won't cause her problems. He was so dismissive. I asked if that's what he'd say to someone with a peanut allergy, who just ingested peanuts. The owner rolled her eyes at me. Yes, it's my responsibility to look carefully. This was such an amazing restaurant in its hay day sadly no longer true, the food is terrible, and the restaurant is dirty and dated and needs an upgrade in both location Bedford and Bow. I live in Bedford and my son lives in Bow so I can state this after eating at both locations, and the Bow location stays open because it is the local watering hole for neighboring towns. So sad it WAS the best Chinese in NH, I would brag about this place to everyone, NO longer the case. I had takeout in the Bedford location and was atrocious, degusting, and anything but fresh, It was a waste of $62.00, I ended up throwing it away that bad. I should have rolled down the window and tossed my $62.00 out the window I would have felt better. I can't go 4 stars. Reason. The food was not served hot seeing this was my first time I want to be fair. The staff was friendly the atmosphere was really good the only shortfall the food temperature. No one even checked it before it left the kitchen. We sent it back but when you nuke a cooked dish it usually makes the meat rubbery. And that's what it did and the rice had cold spots again. So the food fell short. Hopefully they will read this and fix that issue. But for that reason I can only give 3 stars. read more

As a former resident of the area this use to be the best Chinese restaurant in NH. Unfortunately this is no longer true. We ordered an extensive "takeout" last night which was delivered to our hotel. The first major disappointment was that there were no utensils, chop sticks, plates or even napkins! Unacceptable!!! This place is tucked away in the back of Woodbury Court, only accessible to/from South River Road (US Route 3) southbound across from the Bedford Mall. In the dining room, each table had a white linen table cloth placed over a plastic table cover and white linen napkins, regular utensils (no chopsticks) and glasses for ice water. The waiters wear tuxedos and name tags. I ordered the Happy Family (Taiwan) Luncheon Special ($8.95) with vegetable fried rice and wonton soup and a pot of hot tea served in a ceramic pot. The Wonton Soup had two wontons, cabbage, scallions, & pork strips in a light chicken broth. The complementary fried crispy rice noodles with duck sauce were tasty. My Happy Family (chicken, pork, shrimp, beef, scallops, broccoli, mushrooms, snow peas, bamboo shoots in a brown sauce) was warm, but tasted good anyways. The vegetable fried rice (with peas, carrots, onions) was okay. When I was done, the waiter brought the check over with a chocolate fortune cookie and Andes mint. The food here ranges from adequate (which in the Manchester area is sadly still on the higher end of the quality spectrum) to pretty good. I've never had any *bad* meals here, but they have been mediocre. The main problem with Chen Yang Li, though, is that--and I say this with delicacy--the staff cannot locate their collective proverbial posterior with both hands. Orders called in an hour or more in advance are routinely late without apology, the front desk is frequently unstaffed for minutes at a time, and the general demeanor of the host and waitstaff is one of studied indifference to the people standing in the lobby hoping to exchange money for food. So go ahead, eat here. Why not? As I said, the other options in the area aren't great either. But I sure wouldn't be in any sort of hurry if I chose Chen Yang Li, and I wouldn't expect much courtesy either. read more

The mango chicken was completely disgusting tasting and primarily made up of water chestnuts and snow peas, with barely any chicken and, for some reason, had cherries on top. The chicken pad thai was very bland, lacking the flavor that pad thai is known for, almost making it unpalatable. There was also no spiciness to it, even though I chose the spicy option and the chicken itself was so fatty. The crab ragoons also lacked any flavor to the filling, and the wonton wrappers were burnt. For such an expensive meal, compared to its competitors, I expected much better quality. Ordered $85 worth of food today. Picked it up 1:15pm, thinking everything would be nice and fresh. No one spoke to me as I walked in. Food was in the hallway, not even at the desk. Ordered Lo Mein, Pork fried rice, Teriyaki chicken sticks, bone in spare ribs as well as boneless ribs. Both order of ribs were over cooked and burnt. BBQ ribs with the bone tasted oily as if they reheated them from the night before and recooked them. They were inedible. Very disappointed. We spent a lot of money on this meal. Actually threw all of the pork ribs away. We will not be back to this location. Used to be considered high end. Not anymore! read more

all the food we ordered was good, but unfortunately one dish has just disappointed us so much I can only leave 2 stars. the "chow mein" (which when you google chow mein is a fried noodle dish with sauce and your veggies and meat). the chow neon from here was a bland, pile of vegetables with a packet of "fried noodles" on the side. Finally found good pad Thai in Manchester at a Chinese restaurant, but whatever! Got that, and orange chicken (all gluten free ) and was mostly impressed. My only complaint is I selected spicy for both and they were both devoid of any heat at all. The orange "tangerine" chicken was just okay- not a ton of flavor but still decent. My standards for restaurants have sadly gone down since moving to the Manchester area. We will def be going back though read more

We used to order takeout from here but never again. We used to live in Nashua and were excited to see a Chen Yang Li when we moved to Bedford. Sadly, the 2 are night and day. The food at the Nashua location, sushi and entrees, was always delicious. The food at the Bedford location was terrible. The entrees lack flavor and they always forgot the rice and apps. The last time we ordered from them the summer rolls had only 2 tiny shrimp, no basil and were filled with white rice filler noodles- and the rice paper was over cooked and gummy- i didnt eat it, it was disgusting. The sushi I ordered was straight up terrible. The salmon was yellowed and dry, the avocado BROWN and the rice dry. It looked like week old pre-made sushi and I didnt eat it. The only reason I gave them 2 stars instead of 1 is that when I called to complain they did refund me my meal. We never order from here anymore- the food is so bad its borderline a health hazard. read more

This place used to be fabulous, not any longer. We had lunch there today (Saturday) at noon. No one else in the restaurant, we thought that was odd. We were seated at a table that had rice on the seats and on the table. We were right up against the window where they have silk flowers are other deco items.... all along the window platform there is thick dust and cobwebs, really nasty. Our wonton soup started out off, the wontons were old and overcooked. My order was completely wrong, I'd ordered a combo and received the wrong one. When I asked for it to be corrected one item was fixed, the rest was not. The chicken wing I had was good. Everything else was left behind. My husband had chicken and green beans, this has always been his go to dish here. The green beans were shriveled but taste wise it was edible. The server we had was pleasant and punctual and did try to fix the plating error. We won't return sadly. read more
