Cheos has been the BEST spot in El Sereno for years. I always get the al pastor and tripas, and I ask for them a little extra cooked because the texture comes out perfect every time. And if you know, you KNOW the habanero with onions they keep outside on the bar takes everything to another level. The salsas are always fire, the meat quality is legit, and the horchata never misses either. On top of that, the family running it are some of the coolest, hardest working people around. Visiting family for the holiday and stopped by to see what all the fuss is about. Love the set up, World Cup game playing, plenty of seating and other food vendors as well. Ordering was fast - the lady who took my order was helpful as it was my first time visiting. Ordered the Al pastor tacos to go. Food was quick and came with two salsa options + onions & cilantro. I usually go to Mojica Tacos up the next block but since he wasn't there today, we decided to try this spot since I usually see it has a lot of customers. Gross! The lengua had no flavor and the tripas the same. Tripas were rubbery, I felt like I was chewing gum. Tortillas were good but unfortunately will not be returning. Mojica tacos might be a little bit more greasy but their meats have flavor. I know people are gonna hate me when I say this but I like cost and flavor. Just get the mulitas. Tacos are good but the mulitas is where it's at. I get my tacos either west or south from here cuz the real ones know where it's at. The cheese goes well with their proteins here but kinda boring on just store-bought tortillas. They always run out of tripas, cabeza, and lengua...just take it off the menu or even a better idea, have more lol. You're not missing out much tho, maybe just the cabeza. Asada: it's good for a taco truck. Good amount of meat and flavor. The texture is alright, it's just brown and lean. They don't let the flat top sizzle it enough imo, it's like they're rushed or piled on a lot of meat at once. Why does everything else have a better sear? Good with both rojo and verde, but the guacasalsa is too bright and takes away the asada flavor. Do whatever you want, just eat. Pastor: good sear from the grill top even tho we all love the flamethrower sound. Some people don't like how sweet their marinade is but I think it's quite good. The sugar breaks down enough to impart a nice flavor with their spices. Juicy and meaty, add a bit of salt and grilled onion, you're good to go. Cabeza: really fine and chopped up, pretty tasty and goes well with all their salsa, especially with a bite of jalapeno. I like the mushiness and flavor here. Lengua: almost tastes like their cabeza also looks nearly the same. They chop it up fine unlike other places. I haven't eaten this enough to say much because they're always out.... Tripas: it's alright. I like gamey in a good way but this is chewy, with an untreated gamey taste. I always try it to see if it's better another time but just ends up the same. As a resident of El Sereno, finally decided to gice this place a try. Very friendly staff. They use corn tortillas for their tacos. It is OK, has so much potential, but meat was a little bland. Let's start off with how I found this place. I was looking for Los Dorados because my car's gps led me to this truck. Asked the staff where the flautas place was and they directed me accordingly. On the way back I stopped by to tell them their tacos had been recommended by another customer at the flautas place and that I would be back. They just stared at me without saying anything. I figured they must not speak English so I repeated myself in Spanish. Still no response. I finally asked if they understood and I finally got a response. So yeah, I get the reviews posted re the not so stellar customer service. My rating is strictly for the food but I do agree the staff could learn to improve their social skills with customers. Now for the more important part - the food! I got 5 asada tacos to go. They will throw in 1 red salsa, 1 green salsa, and 1 guac as well as onions/cilantro. You also get some grilled onions and a grilled jalapeño. I asked for 1 extra green salsa and 1 extra guac and they had no problem booking that up. They will also give you some baggies for radishes and lemons. I was very satisfied with my tacos. For me, the guac had enough of a kick that I didn't need the extra kick of the green sauce. I'm partial to green sauce so to me the red sauce, which was spicier, was nothing special. The guac is superior to the green sauce in my opinion. The grilled onions were also perfect, had a nice sweet flavor. Parking can easily be found on the street. There was a line but I would estimate the wait was about 10 mins after placing the order. There is also an area to eat but I took my order to go. Definitely recommend this local joint. Is it better than Ave 26? No, but it will satisfy that taco craving and you won't feel like you have to redo your taco experience because this one just did not meet your expectations. So in sum, another yummy in my tummy rating and now I don't feel like my failed attempt at a good meal last Friday was all for naught since I discovered this place. read more

My college friend and I where looking for some tacos on Friday night and we stumbled upon this one, honestly the food was great and had no issue with it. The only issue was the cashier in the front having an attitude and kept rolling her eyes when I went up to order my food. Did not have an issue with the food at all Just had an issue with the terrible attitude from the cashier After arriving I noticed there was a cash only sign at the register I asked just to make sure if there was any way I could Zelle or make a card payment and she said no, which is understandable I had $12 cash so my family and i ended up sharing 6 tacos When the next customer steps up He wasn't aware it was cash only either But she allowed him to pay via Zelle I have no problem with certain rules, but if you are going to have them, respect them with all customers not only with the ones you feel like it. Really solid taco truck in LA. My friend and I came here after a hike and we were craving Mexican food. Typically, you can drive around LA and see a bunch of taco trucks and stands out on the street so we weren't even going out of our way to eat here but we did not regret going here. There was a handful of people waiting for their food and also to order. They also have a little seating area and station to serve yourself salsa and onions/cilantro. They do have a menu but with no prices, but the good thing is the food here is really cheap :) . Everything seems to cost under 10$ and it tastes fantastic I had two carne asada tacos, which were absolutely delicious, they were so full of flavor and bite sized. Then I had a mulita, also tasted just as amazing and half of my friend's chicken quesadilla lol. I definitely recommend coming here if you are in the area and giving the place try. Cheos is pretty much a staple around here. I don't understand all the hype, but I've noticed they've been improving their service lately. The food is alright, not the absolute best tacos, but far from the worst. Personally, I prefer this taco truck over Mojica Tacos. They have a nice outdoor seating area, a great place to hang out. It was annoying that they gave only two of their green avocado salsa and became snappy if you asked for more. But, this time, I was happily surprised by them giving me three avocado salsas. We booked a rental space across the street to lead a guided sound meditation. Little did we know Cheo's Tacos announces the orders over a loudspeaker when they're ready (which would have surely continuously interrupted it). Upon realizing this, we went over and explained the situation. The person in charge there was so understanding and agreed to turn the loudspeaker off for a couple hours. In gratitude, after our event, I relayed the story of what happened in the closing circle and recommend that everyone eat here. A bunch of the students did and loved the food. Pros : Al Pastor and Carne Asada are really good! The quality of the meat is good and their spicy salsa is yummy! Prices are very reasonable too. Cons : 35 minute wait for three tacos. Allowing random people to enter the cooking area. While waiting for my order, a truck pulls up and three people exit and walk around the line of waiting people into the food truck. After about 5 minutes they get plates and plates of food whilst there are literally 15 people waiting for their order or waiting to order. Over rated over priced and the quality of the food has dropped dramatically. The flavor is not at all like it used to be. They dont do it with love no more that is sad. The food dont taste the same. The burritos dont have rice like what's a burrito with out rice. Las tortillas are tiny. Their chicken tacos which were my favorite have a fun y flavor. No lie there asada tortas are good. Customer service is TRASH Health measures TRASH Wait time TRASH Tacos too good for a truck. People that work there seem overwhelmed with the load so much so that it reflects On their character. An upgrade to a restaurant is much needed. I absolutely love this truck for tacos. Yes, I realize that we all have different taste buds but again for me this is the bomb!! I really love all their tacos and burritos. Their salsas are all fresh. I have never had any issues with their food, now their customer service from one particular person is different.... I know most people are turned off by the customer service of one of their people but honestly I have learned to see past that because their food IS that good. I know I shouldn't be complacent :( I have found that if I write my order on a piece of paper clearly with what I want and that person is taking orders, I avoid the attitude from that certain person.
