The food is great. But service is a bit of a struggle due to language barriers and the difficulty of being heard through the window. Out of the many times I've gotten food here, only once have I gotten the whole order without something being wrong or left out entirely. This happened even when I ordered in Spanish! Therefore, I have developed a system to minimize mistakes. 1. Very neatly write a list of the items on a piece of paper. 2. Hand the paper to the person taking orders. 3. Check with that person that what they entered into the computer matches the list. 4. Check every item as it comes through the pick up window. 5. Be prepared to still have to address mistakes. Spoiled fish! We came here tonight for the first time for some ceviche tostadas, as we love them. We bought the 3 fish ceviche which was nicely packaged and they gave us 3 tostada shells with it. But, as soon as we opened the container, we could tell right away from the smell that it was RANCID! We even tried a taste and spit it out. It tasted like it was made days ago, and it had gone bad. We were in the mood for Mexican seafood and since we pass by this place often, we decided to finally check it out. We arrived a little later at night on a Saturday night and there were only a couple people ahead of us already waiting for their orders. At the time that we went, they had a cash only sign though it seems like it depends on the day (not sure what factors it), so just in case, bring some cash. We ordered the Fish Taco Combo #2 ($10.99) and the Nachos con Carne ($11.99). It was a decent wait time for our food. They have a counter on the side where you can also get some limes, pickled onions, and jalapenos. They will give you your sauces on from their side. They did forget to give us our drink for the combo when they handed us our order, so that was a bummer. Beans and rice seemed a little bit bland and could use a bit more seasoning. The tacos were pretty good though. They do have a deal on Wednesdays I believe? So it might be better to get the fish tacos on those days. It was empty when we arrived ordered 6 shrimp tacos 28 bucks later, I received the tacos the looked very delicious they were too, but the over sauce made them so messy and mushy to eat ended up being a soggy tostada. You must order by increments of 2,4,6,8....even numbers only for the special price. My go-to-order for any first time taco spot is always two asadas and two pastors. They were good sized street tacos filled with the meat, pico de gallo and their house salsa. They also have a side cart with grilled jalapeños, sliced red onions and limes for your liking. I'm a local. Don't come here everyday because I live quite a healthy lifestyle, but when I'm craving Mexican food, I'll come here. I've even touted this place to others with guster and enthusiasm. Food is fast. However, the last 2 times I've come here, I've had an issue work the service. The clerks suck. It's a teeny tiny mild racism thing. The food is prompt, and that's all the positive that I can say. I'm nit Hispanic but can speak a decent amount to get by as I've worked in restaurants for 10+ years. I was cordial and polite during this visit, especially so because I got shit on by a different customer at my own job. I make it a point not to pay that disrespect forward. If only there was a NO STAR review. Popped into one of the few Mexican food places in Alhambra for lunch. Tacos Ensenada lean heavily towards seafood Mexican style. I fairly extensive menu with pictures. I decided on the steak and shrimp burrito. The first issue is the young lady in the window. She was nice enough I guess, but she's done some extensive piercings in her face and it's a bit off putting if not distracting. The burrito itself is over $12.00 so the expectation was higher than your average 7-8 dollar burrito. What I got was a disgusting mess. the steak and the shrimp were over cooked and might possibly have been from the day before. It's looked rough, and tasted worse. I put some of the salsa that was provided with the burrito on it to see if that helped. It did not. I was only able to endure 4 bites before I just decided to throw the remainder in the trash. My highest hope is that I don't become ill tonight. I've had Mexican food all over Southern California and all over Mexico and this was in the bottom 1% I've ever eaten. So after being deterred from going here because of crushing rush hour traffic, we finally had the opportunity to be on the correct side of the street with not overpowering traffic to make a right turn into the lot. This review will compare TE to two comparable near by taco places: Arandinos Taco Truck (ATT) and Habanero Grill (HG). There is limited outdoor seating at TE just like HG, but HG offers more shade. Service is best at ATT, but reasonable at TE & HG. As opposed to ATT or HG, you are more likely to get better service at TE if you speak Spanish. The menus have overlap at all three places, but HG or TE has the largest selection and all three have unique items. We got several items at TE. The chicken tacos were street tacos and while the meat was more tender at TE, ATT has better flavor. The fish tacos had really good fish at TE, fresh out of the fryer, but overall, HG has the superior fish taco. The pork tacos at TE & ATT are a different style, but comparable quality. The beef taco at TE is not as good as ATT or HG and of the three, ATT has the best. Many people like the beef hard taco at Chanos, but ATT is better and the HG hard taco is not great. TE has no hard taco as far as we can tell. TE has the best nachos followed by ATT then HG then Chanos. The rice and beans sides are better at ATT & HG than TE. The side of chips is about comparable at all three places. The ceviche at TE is better than HG. We did not try the burrito, but ATT's burrito is so good, it is hard to imagine TE's is better, although based on the quality of their other dishes it usually worth a try. TE also has no taquitos as far as we can tell. Therefore, TE is a great taco stand to try, but which stand you choose to try really depends on what you like to eat. We would definitely go to TE again and they are worth a try. However, we would most recommend the ceviche, nachos, and fish taco at TE. read more

The guy and the girl who helped me were both very friendly and nice. However, when I had the tacos at home, that's when it went down. The fried fish fillet tasted very cold and soggy. You can taste that old oil when you bite it. It was probably fried awhile ago because it was not hot or warm. I hated that "sitting for too long" taste. It was not so pleasant.
