3/10/25 Okay, what's wrong with me?! Why have I not dropped the review of GE Chano's??!! It's an institution, this place has been serving up locals & visitors alike, heck they've been feeding hospital staff for years! Bless their hearts! I cannot count the times we've eaten here or taken to gos, especially Hubby over the past 20 years we've been around the area. Have not gone here in a bit though & today lunch time rolled in & we passed by-- Chano's for sure! Never had their pastrami & it is packed & bursting with umami flavors! Perfect with the mustard & pickles, the meat is plentiful. Yum! Yum! Tasted Hubby's Machaca & it was equally delicious. Didn't know that they have a drive thru now, as I mentioned, have not visited in a great while. We took advantage of this & ordered, waited for about 5 minutes & we were on our merry way. There's a fairly big parking lot (free). It ain't the last time, for sure, thanks Chano's for consistently amazing quick service & scrumptious eats!

Quick to-go spot. I see this passing by but never tried it. Decided to go in. What looks to be a dining area on the side actually isn't. There are tables however to eat on, but very few and limited. You order at the window on the side OR you order at the drive thru in the parking lot. The parking lot is extremely tight and small, so the way the drive thru was set up, and a few parking spaces in between seems to be a tight spot. If you can't find parking, looking for street parking is also a mission. Only ordered a drink. They had some foot traffic and a handful of parties that ordered. We were standing in front of the window but we weren't acknowledged until way later when the guy finally took our order. He was too busy handing out other orders but didn't say anything to us. They did provide what we needed. Maybe next time we'll try something different on the menu. They had "vegetarian chili cheese fries".

Amazing Beef Taquitos

I'm always on the hunt for the next great little gem among the many Mexican restaurants in the Los Angeles area. This one immediately caught my attention because of its bold claim--"World Famous Burritos." That was more than enough reason for me to check it out. I've actually been here quite a few times before, and I've already tried their chicken burrito, which was fantastic, and their pastrami burrito, which was an unexpected but incredible choice. Today, I decided to try something different and went with the signature chile relleno burrito and an order of beef taquitos. The burrito was absolutely packed with flavor. The chile relleno was soft but had just the right amount of crispiness on the edges. Combined with the fresh pico de gallo, melty cheese, and refried beans, every bite was a delicious mix of textures and bold flavors. The roasted chile added a nice smokiness, and the fresh ingredients gave it that homemade taste that sets a place like this apart. The taquitos came drenched in a smooth, vibrant green guacamole, and it was clear they don't skimp on it! The crispy shell had a satisfying crunch, while the shredded beef inside was well-seasoned and juicy. Dipping them into the red salsa made them even better. If you love taquitos, this is the way to get them! G.E. Chano's is a solid spot for authentic, flavorful Mexican food, and I can definitely see why they claim their burritos are world-famous. If you're in the area and craving something delicious, this place is absolutely worth a stop!

The crispy tacos here are delicious! They have been around for years and rightfully so. Very friendly and hardworking, open early which I love if I want a hearty breakfast. Prices and portions are generous. Walk up counter with outside seating and a small parking lot. I always love supporting local businesses that care, worth checking out!

Drive by all the time with the "pastrami burrito " sign prominently displayed ..decided to stop in. Typical Mexican taco shop menu but came to try out the pastrami ...ordered the quesadilla version ..good portion they serve wet with a ranchero sauce and guacamole...while tasted good I would not order this with the sauce as IMO makes to soggy ...as others have mentioned value isn't exactly there as prices are on higher side

In the photo you can see the lights turned off and the time 8:47pm. Didn't say a word!!!!!

Went out of my way to come here - made sure they closed at 9pm, the girl working was sitting at the window, looked out and saw us pull in, and once we got to the speaker to order, waited a minute or 2 and then shut off all the lights. See photo for reference. 15min before 9pm! Very disappointed and a waste of time. Horrible customer service to the girl who saw us pull in.

Asada fries for more than $15?

A lot less fries than you think. To top it off canned beans. We can tell. Another review said they had maggots in the beans. And the chef didn't deny. Go else where. Been coming for years. Last time.

They were warm (not hot) and it was difficult to get any meat off of them. I rarely ask for something to be sent back but especially for the price point here, these were not OK. We let them know that they were undercooked. The chokes were gone for a while and when they came back they were slightly better so we just made due and realized that they just weren't very good artichokes. Also, though the heart was good, the flavor of the leaves was not great and the dipping sauce was nothing special. They were covered with diced onions for some reason. When it's $21 for three halves, it was very disappointing.

However, I went for a second time yesterday and was deeply disappointed. The owner wasn't there and instead a younger girl took my order and prepared the food. Everything seemed well and fine until I got home, opened my patty melt and found not 1 but 2 long hairs in my sandwich! They were clearly her hairs since she was the only one who handled my food. I went back and returned everything. I didn't see a hair in my other sandwich but couldn't even eat it without thinking what could be in each bite. The same girl was there when I returned and a young guy. I spoke with the guy and he gave me a refund right away and apologized. The girl who had made my food was maybe 5 feet away and couldn't even turn around to look at me or apologize. Very disappointing since the owner seemed like a nice guy who probably works extremely hard to build and maintain his business, only to have it ruined by some employee who couldn't even care enough to take 5 sec to put on a hair net. Shame on her.

I made the reservation…read morethrough Opentable and oh man how hard it is to secure a good dinner time on a weekend night. That's how popular this place is. Parking is street parking around the neighborhood. We came here on Sunday evening so it was somewhat doable. We showed up several minutes earlier and they suggested us to wait in their wine room/bar. I didn't really plan on getting any wine so we waited a little bit outside at the patio and then returned when it was the actual time. I had made a reservation for the counter seating, and we were seated right in front of the fire area where they cook the meat. It was cool to watch them cooking the food and prepare them, but it was soooo hot. I didn't ask to be moved, but I definitely should have. Now for the food, we got the baby albacore (sooo good), pork & green chilly stew (it came with tortillas) and they suggested us to get the cheddar & chive potatoes with the chili and make it into a taco. Really good. The tortillas were amazing too. We were saving our appetite for the other orders so the waiter offered to box the leftovers. It was a very efficient service. The next thing we ordered was the mushroom crusted pork chop. When we were waiting, we saw them prepared a lot of the ribeye orders which looked truly magnificent. Maybe for next visit! But the pork chop was so good too. It definitely felt pretty rich. The waiter had suggested us to order a side salad to complement the richness and they're right, I should have! We ordered the popular cornbread as a dessert (following other reviews online) and it was a great suggestion, since I really want to try it and there was no way we could eat another dessert on top of everything. Cornbread was amazing as expected. Pretty crispy on the outside and warm and soft on the inside. The honey and butter complement them really well. It has some jalapeño in it too. Overall it was an amazing dinner experience. Next time I visit I'll be sure not to sit at the counter (lol). But the service was really good and efficient, and everyone was really nice and polite.

The meal was largely a success .. a couple of misses that coulda brought me down.. but the highs were so high.. they made up for the missteps. Service. Hostess was super friendly and welcoming. Somethings they can be not so much.. but she was just lovely The actual service was friendly. But like some other reviewers said.. maybe they were a bit over whelmed. I'd label the service and friendly functional. The waiter said we ordered the perfect amount of food. I'd say we ordered 1 too many items. Scallop crudo: a lovely starter. It came really quick after ordering. We were sitting at the cold bar so could see these getting prepped. Drizzled with ground pistachio and a citrus oil. Simple. But delicious. Over priced a bit at $23. Maybe. It was delicious. Who cares Peaches and farmers cheese. Wow o wow did this dish sing. It was just light and lovely. Just the way I love to eat THE cornbread. Could it live up to the HYPE?!? Yes. Oh yes. It borders on being under baked.. ours actually prolly was a bit. But it just makes it that much moist The outside is crispy. Inside moist. It was the single best bite I have had in years. I am in love All is good in the world with this cornbread Tomato Caesar. Our meal took a dip here after three unbelievably fantastic dishes. Were they fine. Yes. The toppings were so strong. I really couldn't taste tomato. While these look great, I'd say skip this dish. Order the green salad instead Next the steak : at $149. I was hoping for greatness. It mostly was. I took a the middle slice and it was great. Our bone marrow was a bit stingy. Only had enough for two slices. But it definitely enhances the steak! As we ate from the middle out. (Animals I know). It bacame apparent that everything but the middle slice was over cooked (ordered medium rare). This steak was cooked medium. So much so the outer 1/3s are dry. A bit disappointing for $150 steak. The server never solicited feedback on the food as it was served, even when we asked to box up half the steak. As they cleared plates.. we did get a "how was it,". Bit not a real check in as to how our food was The mashed potatoes were perfection. I did add some salt that was served with the steak to them as they were slightly....just slightly under seasoned. But still. These are pretty perfect mashed potatoes. We topped it off with cobbler (peach blackberry). It was great. And a small scoop of $9 ice cream .. cookies and cream. I'd skip this favor. Too much cookie. Not enough cream. Al in all. A really wonderful meal. The steak, even though it wasn't cooked perfectly . Was still delicious. That cornbread does live up to the hype. It is my best bite of the year for sure We have reservations again next week. I'm already looking forward to it!

Delightfully understated atmosphere with unique tiles throughout the decor, and we loved that we could hear each other talk and enjoy each other's company. Our server was amazing, she was so knowledgeable while being personable and extremely funny. I assume she's the cook's wife based on the other reviews - I arrived a little after my aunts, so I didn't get a full introduction since they had already secured a table and had ordered some drinks while looking over the menu. I had my eye on 3 different meat dishes - the Roasted Duck Breast, the New Zealand Lamb, and the Angus Beef Ribeye Steak - and my aunts also had each picked 1 of those, so we went family style, and it did not disappoint!! The chef knows how to cook each type of meat to perfection, and the searing pans are doing exactly what they need to be doing! The Roast Duck Breast was AMAZING as cooked to the recommended medium, with delicious crispy skin. The Angus Beef Ribeye Steak at medium rare was as tasty as it was gorgeous! And the New Zealand Lamb was PERFECTION, down to the bone. We also got the gourmet macaroni and cheese as an add-on side, since all the meals come with mashed potatoes and various veggies, and I was in heaven! As someone who used to work at the Disney Parks and frequented the steakhouses and other fine dining both here and in Orlando, Sage Bistro is giving Disney a run for its money when it comes to high-quality meat dishes! The prices reflect both the cut of the meats and the skill of preparation, with it averaging to about $50 each across the 3 of us, which is pretty reasonable for top-tier quality! The only thing I had to be careful about was that many of the dishes have mushrooms, and my throat gets itchy if I eat most mushrooms, so I had to avoid those dishes. During our meal, when I mentioned it to our server for future visits, she was great at noting which dishes could completely be modified to have no mushrooms while also being realistic about acknowledging the dishes that cannot be, which sadly includes the Braised Short Rib that sounds out of this world. But I can have the Beef Rib Soup, so I definitely want to try that next because I WILL BE BACK!!! Seeing the server and an Asian staff coming out from kitchen confirmed that the cooking wasn't fully American taste bud. But that is the reason why it hit me very well. Honestly, whether you have American or fusion or Asian taste bud, the taste quality is better than some average American restaurants. I tried the butter squash soup, lamp chop, and bow tie pasta with chicken. I was enjoying my soup and lamp chop a lot. The pasta was pleasant to me, but it wasn't exceptionally great compared to the lamp chop. My fiancé loved the pasta though, saying that the sauce wasn't overwhelming. It is not a cheap place to come for, but it is because the food and drinks (good white wine) have quality. The wait for the entrees was a little long, even though it wasn't that busy. I believe it was the chef spending time to make sure each dish was done well, unlike the busy restaurant where chefs only follow the restaurant's recipes to make it quick and easy. Lastly, the ambience was okay, but it was more an older fine dining/family owned style. It had some nostalgic vibe if you'd take it that way. Keep it up. I really hope it will be there forever long.

My waiter, Gabriel, was extremely friendly, welcoming, and had very good knowledge of the menu which I appreciate a lot. Now back to the omelette-- oh my god. Best omelette in my life I think. The eggs were soft, pillowy and cooked to PERFECTION. Not overdone and not super runny either. The chicken was extremely tender and flavorful. The sauce they used was sweet and savory, the pickled onions balanced it all out with the perfect acidity. I wish I was around this area a lot more, I'll definitely be coming back!

Chilaquiles are my favorite breakfast food and these did not disappoint! I got the chilaquiles with…read moregreen sauce and tomato sauce and let me tell you, that tomato sauce was INSANE. The green sauce has a significant tang to it so the two really balanced each other out. Next time I'll definitely add a protein as well, but this bowl of chilaquiles was delicious! I also had a Jamaica lemonade which was great, it had a nice kick/tang to it. They make everything in house - the chips, their meats, everything. They have a solid, limited menu, and I can't wait to try other items. It's a small restaurant but they make you feel like you're home. The gentlemen at Tenampal are so welcoming, they give so much attention to each customer, they really take care of you. They constantly check in on you to make sure you're happy without being overbearing. As far as service goes, this experience was within the top 3 experiences I've had at a restaurant in my entire life just in terms of how welcoming they were. I was very lucky to grab a seat here on Sunday - I've heard usually it's pretty busy to get in here but since I went during a World Cup game, I was able to be seated right away. The only thing - parking was pretty difficult, ngl. You gotta luck out finding street parking or go into the residential areas to park. But it's worth it!
