I have been a long time customer of Vhanos especially the one near USC. When I was a student, it consisted of meals at least twice a week. At the time it was one of the places always open in the University village area. The food is Mexican American so it is a little different from the Mexican tacos. Some of the items have lettuce in it for example. The tacos are definitely packed with the protein of your choice. There is so much that it actually spills out of the tacos. The tortillas are light which is a big deal for me. If they are too heavy I usually don't eat them. My tacos had onions and cilantro in it. I thought the menu said it would include guacamole but neither of mine had any in it. I always love salsa verde, the green salsa. It is definitely on the spicy side and not too tart. Service is very polite and friendly and the drive-thru makes it quite easy to grab a meal on the go.

3/10/25 Okay, what's wrong with me?! Why have I not dropped the review of GE Chano's??!! It's an institution, this place has been serving up locals & visitors alike, heck they've been feeding hospital staff for years! Bless their hearts! I cannot count the times we've eaten here or taken to gos, especially Hubby over the past 20 years we've been around the area. Have not gone here in a bit though & today lunch time rolled in & we passed by-- Chano's for sure! Never had their pastrami & it is packed & bursting with umami flavors! Perfect with the mustard & pickles, the meat is plentiful. Yum! Yum! Tasted Hubby's Machaca & it was equally delicious. Didn't know that they have a drive thru now, as I mentioned, have not visited in a great while. We took advantage of this & ordered, waited for about 5 minutes & we were on our merry way. There's a fairly big parking lot (free). It ain't the last time, for sure, thanks Chano's for consistently amazing quick service & scrumptious eats!

Quick to-go spot. I see this passing by but never tried it. Decided to go in. What looks to be a dining area on the side actually isn't. There are tables however to eat on, but very few and limited. You order at the window on the side OR you order at the drive thru in the parking lot. The parking lot is extremely tight and small, so the way the drive thru was set up, and a few parking spaces in between seems to be a tight spot. If you can't find parking, looking for street parking is also a mission. Only ordered a drink. They had some foot traffic and a handful of parties that ordered. We were standing in front of the window but we weren't acknowledged until way later when the guy finally took our order. He was too busy handing out other orders but didn't say anything to us. They did provide what we needed. Maybe next time we'll try something different on the menu. They had "vegetarian chili cheese fries".

    Amazing Beef Taquitos

I'm always on the hunt for the next great little gem among the many Mexican restaurants in the Los Angeles area. This one immediately caught my attention because of its bold claim--"World Famous Burritos." That was more than enough reason for me to check it out. I've actually been here quite a few times before, and I've already tried their chicken burrito, which was fantastic, and their pastrami burrito, which was an unexpected but incredible choice. Today, I decided to try something different and went with the signature chile relleno burrito and an order of beef taquitos. The burrito was absolutely packed with flavor. The chile relleno was soft but had just the right amount of crispiness on the edges. Combined with the fresh pico de gallo, melty cheese, and refried beans, every bite was a delicious mix of textures and bold flavors. The roasted chile added a nice smokiness, and the fresh ingredients gave it that homemade taste that sets a place like this apart. The taquitos came drenched in a smooth, vibrant green guacamole, and it was clear they don't skimp on it! The crispy shell had a satisfying crunch, while the shredded beef inside was well-seasoned and juicy. Dipping them into the red salsa made them even better. If you love taquitos, this is the way to get them! G.E. Chano's is a solid spot for authentic, flavorful Mexican food, and I can definitely see why they claim their burritos are world-famous. If you're in the area and craving something delicious, this place is absolutely worth a stop!

The crispy tacos here are delicious! They have been around for years and rightfully so. Very friendly and hardworking, open early which I love if I want a hearty breakfast. Prices and portions are generous. Walk up counter with outside seating and a small parking lot. I always love supporting local businesses that care, worth checking out!

In the photo you can see the lights turned off and the time 8:47pm. Didn't say a word!!!!!

Went out of my way to come here - made sure they closed at 9pm, the girl working was sitting at the window, looked out and saw us pull in, and once we got to the speaker to order, waited a minute or 2 and then shut off all the lights. See photo for reference. 15min before 9pm! Very disappointed and a waste of time. Horrible customer service to the girl who saw us pull in.

Drive by all the time with the "pastrami burrito " sign prominently displayed ..decided to stop in. Typical Mexican taco shop menu but came to try out the pastrami ...ordered the quesadilla version ..good portion they serve wet with a ranchero sauce and guacamole...while tasted good I would not order this with the sauce as IMO makes to soggy ...as others have mentioned value isn't exactly there as prices are on higher side

Asada fries for more than $15?
    Aidan G.

A lot less fries than you think. To top it off canned beans. We can tell. Another review said they had maggots in the beans. And the chef didn't deny. Go else where. Been coming for years. Last time.

Within 5 minutes my meal was out so the service was very fast which was appreciated. Here you will only find outdooor patio seating. We sat there and tried their chili cheese hot dog and their cheese burger. The chili cheese dog was a bit disappointing. The chili cheese was great however the hot god itself was not good. It was a bit under cooked for my preference. Would have to give the hot dog a 2 out of 5. The cheeseburger on the other hand was good. No complaints on that and would have to rate the cheeseburger a 4 out of 5. The French fries here are so good, love the seasoning on them. Fries are a 5 out of 5. Overall maybe just stay clear of the hot dog but they are worth checking out if your in the area looking for a fast and cheap meal. Till next time.

After seeing George's Burger Stand on the Andrew, Steven, and Adam show on YouTube, I decided to…read moregive the place a try. First off, be aware of parking and traffic as the area is crammed. The restaurant itself is small and has plenty of seats. I went on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't busy. The lady who took my order didn't greet me and she was blunt with me, but it could have just been an off day for her. The man who made my order was nice, professional, and asked if I wanted any sauces. I ordered the George's Burger Combo with an Almond Milk Horchata. My partner ordered the Beyond Avocado Burger with Onion Rings and a Lemonade. The order did not take long, about a 10 minute wait. The burger itself was fresh and tasted real. From the buns to the veggies to the meat itself, it all tasted good. The burger was hearty and filling without leaving you feeling tired or gross. The only downside about the burger is that it could use more sauce, I had a hard time tasting it with each bite. The fries were good and were seasoned lightly; they had a nice crisp and soft interior. I never had Horchata with Almond Milk and to my surprise, it was great. Not too sweet and it was refreshing. Their sauces are made in house and I tried their ranch. Appearance wise, the ranch definitely stood out compared to typical fast food ranch. The ranch was thick, creamy, and paired nicely with the fries and onion rings. The onion rings were what I really wanted to try. The onion rings are made fresh and they use beer batter. They have a nice golden color and crunch when you bite into them. Unlike other onion rings, these ones snapped with each bite and the onion itself didn't drag out nor was it too soft. You can definitely taste the beer flavor and it paired nicely with the onion. My only complaint is that some areas of the onion ring had too much batter so at times it would just be a bit mush. The onion rings weren't overly greasy either. My partner who is vegetarian said it was the best vegetarian burger she has ever had. She loved the fries and onion rings as well. Overall, a great little food joint to go to every now and then. If you want something fresh with some variety, definitely check out George's Burger Stand. I also heard their Bean and Cheese Burrito is really good as well. I will be coming back sometime in the future.

Sandwich was massive, however, it was mostly lettuce. Didn't notice from the pictures that the sandwiches aren't very balanced between meats and veggies. It's my personal preference for some more balance or flavor in a sandwich, peppers/onions/seasonings. Honestly, Jersey Mike's seasons their veggies better. I will say the bread at this deli was a notch above Jersey Mike's which is definitely a plus as good bread can make or break a sandwich. Mozzarella sticks were great, although they were normal sticks nothing out of the ordinary but I've definitely had worse sticks (looking at you Prince St Pizza...) so I'd recommend them if fried cheese is your jam! Service counter young lady was nice, she was quick and helpful with her suggestions. Small store, kind of looks like a convenience store and then the deli counter is on the right of the entrance and cashier is in the back. Easy ordering process. Parking is in the back, limited spaces. No inside seating available from what I saw, just counter to order and that's it. Grab and go type of spot for sure. Place was OK - if I lived closer, I would think it's an ok spot to come more often but I would not go out of my way to come.

The last time I was over here was when it was a kbbq taco spot back in the day. We arrived a bit after 1pm and the small parking lot was full, much easier to find street parking. The food took a while, but it came out hot and fresh. The owner said hi and asked if we needed anything which was a pleasant surprise. She was super welcoming! The food was delish. My friend ordered the albóndigas special she saw on social media over the weekend - so it's not always available. I got the Egyptian nachos which was beautifully played with a jalapeño cilantro hummus, chips decoratively fanned out and nice pops of color from the pickled red onions and sliced cucumbers.
