CHERRY BLOSSOM is a total mom and pop place: auntie's in the kitchen. uncle's working the front of the house. simple, straightforward menu featuring Burmese favorites (and several poke bowls). had lunch with my nineteen-year-old son. he had the CHICKEN and POTATO CURRY and raved about it. I had the GOLDEN COCONUT KHAO SOI with chicken. am more familiar with Thai versions and enjoyed contrasting similar dishes across two different food cultures. would characterize the Burmese dishes as less hardy (more soupy, less stewy) and more subtly flavored. skipped the all-time classic TEA LEAF SALAD so I have a ready excuse to revisit.

Our delicious order. Big portions too.

We've been wanting to try Cherry Blossom and glad that we finally did. The service was friendly l and fast (via QR code) and the food was delicious. Brings me back to eating Burmese food back in LA. My husband got the OG poke bowl and he said it was fresh and tasty. We also shared the tea leaf salad and Khao Soi which was very flavorful. The restaurant space is small, but very serene. Enjoyed trying them out and will definitely be back!

Note: this location is the Carlsbad location and NOT in La Jolla (the menu is different between the two). There are a number of reviews and menus we saw online that were for the La Jolla location. We came here on a Friday night. It wasn't too busy and we were able to seat inside. There is no outside seating. We placed our order at the counter and found a seat to sit inside. We placed an order at the counter and the food arrived at our table in a reasonable amount of time. We ordered the tea leaf salad, fried rice, street noodles, and spring rolls. All the dishes were delicious. The tea leaf salad was a smaller portion so keep that in mind if you are eating family style and sharing with others. We will definitely return since everything was delicious. There's a decent amount of parking in the parking lot. They also do takeout as we

In response to the business manager response: -Cherry Blossom confirmed our order at 718pm -we drove all the way over there and waited until 740pm only to find that Cherry Blossom closed EARLY with no notice -had to reach out and call Doordash and got our refund when your store "closes" at 8pm Ultimately you confirmed our order and then decided to close early with no notice. Do better. you've got to be kidding me. we placed a doordash order for pickup, it was confirmed, came to pick up and the lights are all off, no one is inside, snd the door is locked.

We gave this restaurant a shot since I haven't found a good Burmese restaurant in Carlsbad. The ambiance was nice. The chef/server was very nice. The food was ok. For people who haven't tasted Burmese food, this is a pretty good representation of what it should be. I have just had much better food in other places. We were the only people in the restaurant. We were told that they were planning to close soon but at least 3 parties walked in about 15-20 mins after us and they were there for much longer than what the chef had initially said regarding the closing time. The menu is limited but has the basics. There is no alcohol. We ordered the tea leaf salad, street noodles with chicken and Burmese curry with paratha. The tea leaf salad was more like Indian bhel. It was ok. I have had much better salads in other restaurants. It also had fish sauce in it which we were not aware of, and my poor friend ended up having an upset stomach (she is allergic to seafood). That was disappointing because I had specified that we don't want seafood in the street noodles, so I would have liked to be told about the fish sauce. We were asked how spicy the salad should be. We chose 6. It was not spicy. The street noodles were good. The normally come with shrimp and I asked for a replacement. I was told it would come with chicken, so I expected chicken pieces. Instead, we got a grilled chicken leg, which was a little difficult to eat. It didn't really go with the noodles because it wasn't tossed in the same sauce. I should've just ordered the noodles without the meat component. There are two items on the menu - potato curry with paratha and Burmese curry with rice. When asked about the difference, we were told it is the same thing, just a difference in the side. That makes no sense! Then why name it differently? The curry was good - had a homemade feel to it, nice blend of spices and a good portion. The naan was ok..I would have liked it to be thicker and softer. All in all, there are elements of the food which have promise. If you have never tried Burmese food, this is a good option. But the food isn't as good as my previous experiences. Pricing wise, it is Carlsbad pricing. So, I think we paid a little more than I would have liked, for the food.

The doors may open a little behind schedule due to minimal staffing, but this place is absolutely worth the wait. We enjoyed the Thai tea, Burmese fried rice, golden coconut khao soi, and spicy garlic ahi poke. The flavors were fresh and vibrant, the portion sizes were generous, and the prices are completely reasonable in a time where you can spend an arm and a leg to barely fill up. Highly recommend this place!

Visited Carlsbad and stayed at a Hilton nearby and found this restaurant. We went on a weeknight and it was not busy. Service was great. Food was delicious. Place is on the smaller side with comfortable seating. The noodles is a must try, our kids love the sushi hand rolls. Would recommend this place. 10/10

Wow. The owner was so friendly in greeting us and knowing it was our first time even offered us a Thai iced tea on the house. Does that bias my view of the food? Maybe, but I really believe the ICONIC tea leaf salad was named that for a reason. The tea flavor really carried through the whole salad. I definitely recommend it. My partner got the OG ahi tuna poke. He was surprised by the apple but pleasantly so as it mixed well with the sauce and fish. If you're in the area, definitely come check them out!

Looking your Burmese food fix in North County? I found this place in Carlsbad! I had to get the tea leaf salad, because it is sooo good! I also got the chicken & potatoes curry, too. This was also good! There aren't that many Burmese places in San Diego, so was happy to see this one closer to home! Need to go back and get try their other dishes.

My husband, son, and I ate here on Sunday for lunch and we loved it! Unique flavors (to us) and the service was great. The owner was so nice and explained all the dishes to us. The tea leaf salad was really good, crunchy, savory, with a hint of sweetness. This place is definitely worth a try if you've never had Burmese food befo

Stopper here to grab lunch, to go, because I had an appointment in the area. It was recommended to try the Burmese Street Noodles since it was a popular item, which I order with shrimp. The flavor was very good, both noodles and shrimp cooked well, and the service was friendly and fast. As good as it was, the shrimp were very small for $25 meal, and there was nothing else included besides scallions, so the value for noodles and small shrimp wasn't there for me.

This place serves the best soup I have ever had. Khao Soi. The flavor is so complex and amazing. With so many different textures as well. This is next level stuff right here. The lady who works here is really nice too. Love this place.

If I could give 10 stars, I would!!!…read more Blue Ocean is easily our favorite restaurant, and my boyfriend and I make the drive to Carlsbad every single month just to eat here. It's become our favorite date night spot, and after all this time, we've never had a bad experience. Our absolute favorite appetizer is the pork belly skewers. They are seriously unreal--they legit melt in your mouth and are packed with so much flavor. We also love the pork belly bao buns, which are just as delicious. The Brussels sprouts are another must-order. They're hands down the best Brussels sprouts we've ever had, and we can't come here without getting them. We also always order the spicy garlic edamame. The sauce is so good that we actually dip our sushi rolls in the leftover edamame sauce, and it's honestly a game changer. (The pricing is also unbeatable for how good the food is). Every sushi roll we've tried has been incredibly fresh and beautifully made. We always end up ordering way more food than we planned because everything is just that good. For drinks, the Cracked Summer is our go-to cocktail every single visit. It's refreshing, delicious, and pairs perfectly with the food. The atmosphere is perfect for a date night, the staff is always friendly and welcoming, and the quality is consistently amazing every time we visit. Blue Ocean has become more than just a restaurant to us--it's one of our favorite monthly traditions. If you're anywhere near Carlsbad, do yourself a favor and eat here. We recommend it to everyone, and we'll definitely be back next month for another amazing meal.

That was a big plus for us because we were hungry. We were seated at the main dining area but when we requested for a table so we could sit side by side versus across from each other (the room was sooo loud that we couldn't hear each other) the waiter (darned we didn't catch his name) acknowledged and rearranged a table nearby so that we could sit beside each other. Another plus! The place was busy busy and sooo noisy. We were fine with the wait to take our order (about 15 minutes), which gave us enough time to peruse the menu. We ordered the Omasake box with side of sushi rice, Salmon Teriyaki entree with xtra veggies and no rice, a side of Kale salad, and Passion Fruit Cheesecake for dessert. No menu drinks; just water, which came aplenty, as our glasses were never empty while we continually guzzled down our h20 (this summer has been such an excruciatingly hot one) - another plus for this continued h20 service! Now for our order: The Box came immediately, and without hesitation my companion dove in with chopsticks already waiting in hand. I picked on his meal, while waiting for mine. The Salmon entree came about ten minutes later, while I salivatingly and happily endulged myself with its delicious flavor. The Kale salad came quite late (almost like an after thought) as we were almost done with our main orders. The salad had an odor that wasn't quite pleasant - as probably most extremely green veggies do smell when grilled. I liked the taste; my companion did not, as he stated it tasted too bitter. I requested a side of ponzu sauce to tame down the bitterness, and I also ended up tossing some shredded white garnished radish noodles (left over from my companion's box meal) to mix in with the kale salad...hmmm, tasted better, but we eventually requested to have our salad to go. My companion was still hungry after his boxed meal; I was not, but we both agreed not to order anything more, a we awaited the dessert. The cheesecake dessert was the best part of our meal here, as the taste really pleased our still hungry palette. And yet another plus! All in all, the meal was pleasant. A little pricey (over $100) - thank goodness we skipped the drinks, less regular h20. Would we return? Sure. Service was great, and food was pretty good. Just a bit pricey... but then again, most sushi and seafood eateries are. There is plenty of parking and a plethora of other eateries nearby. If ones palette begs to differ from sushi or seafood.

As noted by its name, this place served a fusion of Chinese and Korean cuisines. Their Encinitas location took over what used to be a roadside diner along N Coast Hwy 101. The seating capacity was less than 40 people which included a few high-top counter spots. At my last visit, I came for a late dinner before their closing time. A large menu was posted on the wall behind the service counter that listed about two dozen food offerings. The items seemed to be comfort food like pot stickers, spring rolls, fried rice, and chicken wings but flavored with unique combinations of seasonings and spices. I started my meal with the Marinated Beef Tri-Tip Skewers which came as a set of three and a Chinese mustard for dipping. The meat was very tender and well-seasoned. I also ordered the Cumin Lamb Stir Fry which the cashier said was medium spicy. After tasting a couple of bites of the noodles from the serving bowl, I agreed that the heat level was moderate, even for my palate. I thought the portion size should have been more for the price. That was my main criticism for both items, otherwise the food was solid for an Asian fusion eatery.

I always enjoy dining there with my family because they have good food that we can all enjoy together. Every year for my birthday I go to Gonzo! I simply love eating at Gonzo. First of all, I can't get over how scrumptious their food is, it is so tasty and packed with flavor. If you stand in line to order, as soon as you sit down you will have already been served. I don't know how Gonzo prepares their meals so fast, yet so delicious. Also the fact that they cook their food fresh daily is crazy to me. I've been to many ramen restaurants and no one compares to Gonzo's. My go to on the menu is the tonkotsu ramen with gyoza and chicken karaage. Gonzo also offers a very unique atmosphere that makes you feel like you're in Japan. They have waving cats, a big banana neon light, posters and a floating ball on top of the water station. The ball is so cool but I am still puzzled on how it works. Their decor can not be matched. They also have a TV that is always playing Anime. You can also sit inside or outside so if you feel like sitting inside, sit inside but if you want to sit outside, sit outside. Gonzo also does not offer reservations so there is always a place to sit. If there is nowhere to sit just get It to go, truly there is no other ramen stop better than Gonzo. Lastly, the people there are super nice, and always check up on you, they are very polite, and they always say your welcome. While you wait, you can enjoy your appetizers until your main meal arrives. Also if you ask them for a free ticket to their store, they will give you one, each member of the family gets one. You can go next door and trade them in for tokens, these tokens can be used to play claw machines so you can win stuff. But what tops that off is that all of the employees are welcoming and happy. Gonzo Ramen is the best restaurant in the world. They offer good food, an amazing atmosphere and the people there are super nice not to mention the location is very conveniently located near my house. I seriously think about Gonzo all the time. Gabriel checked us in, seated us, took our order, served our food and waited on us for majority of our visit, I would give him 10 stars just on his impeccable service. The food though? The food was AMAZING!! Everything we ordered was the best we have ever had anywhere. The buns were very kawaii (and we ordered ever single one to try). The fillings were savory, but we also loved their seasonal panda bun with ube filling while the kids preferred the nutella bunny. Best chicken karaage we've had by far, the coating almost tasted like it was rolled in kinako powder. The ramen broth was "chef's kiss" with so much flavors, the crab rangoon were jumbo and the filling was delicious, but the chicken katsu was also the best we have had anywhere (including Hawaii). It's the only dish I probably would not ever order again. It wasn't bad, but compared to every other banger on the menu, it's last. Something has to be last. The Chicken Thigh Skewers were AMAZING! OMG, so much flavor in the chicken but the sauce really drove it overboard. Wow. These are a must try, you won't regret it. And lastly, the Green Curry Mussels blew us away. I love mussels and always order it whenever I see it on a menu. We devoured all of the mussels (and added the $9 Roti) and even got a container to-go to save the broth, lol. Truly another banger from Dija Mara. I really appreciate that the menu changes periodically without removing the veteran dishes we continue to enjoy. Just want to mention something besides the culinary spectacles. Dija Mara's decor is every bit as memorable as its food. The artwork isn't an afterthought--it's part of the experience. The dining room manages to feel both trendy and intimate at the same time, while the graffiti-covered back wall adds a playful, street-art feel that contrasts beautifully with the polished food and cocktails. The result is a space that feels creative, unpretentious, and genuinely cool. The industrial concrete and reclaimed wood elements give it a modern edge, while the Indonesian-inspired art creates a sense of place that feels completely unique in North County. This is really our happy place and I hope it never changes.

What a disappointment. I had high expectations due to the Michelin bib Gourmand award, but the…read moreflavors fell extremely short. The restaurant was fairly empty although Resy wouldn't take reservations. Plenty of bar seating. The service was fair, not particularly warm or engaging, which was fine. The food was alluring and beautiful, but the flavors were salty, flat, and mushy. Starting with the Paloma, it was nothing special. Just something you could get with a well happy hour special. Serviceable but unremarkable. Very Instagrammable, however. The pork belly was nicely charred and had nice bite sized morsels on the skewer, good texture, but the sauce was very salty, almost bitter. Forced myself to eat the 2nd skewer, but could not push through the last 2. In contradistinction, the beef rendang was almost bland, like a microwaveable peanut butter Hormel beef stew, and the cardinal sin - the rice underneath was mushy. That was what sealed the nail on the coffin. Bland, albeit tender short rib, on top of smushy rice. Dead. I barely ate one of the 2 pieces of ribs and couldn't do more. The staff wanted to see if I wanted a take out container. When you see a customer that disengaged with the food, you'd better be wary. Being Asian, I don't like to waste food, but when it's so not good, I'd rather walk away and get something else than to finish a terrible meal. Many diners have a millennia of choices in this price point. Sadly, not sure how this restaurant got recognition because it's half as delicious as your typical neighborhood Thai restaurant. Banana Leaf at the Original farmers market in LA is better, though humble and homely. Just very disappointing. Hope it was an off night and that others have a better experience.

I like that this place uses the Yelp waitlist because I put my name down as we were on our way over and arrived just in time. We were seated quickly on a Saturday evening around 6 pm. There are a good amount of tables inside. They also had some TVs showing baseball games around. The service was amazing here. It felt like the waiters and waitresses were constantly eyeing our table to see if we needed anything or were ready to order more. They refilled our water carafe before it was completely empty, changed our grills before we asked, and took away empty plates as soon as we cleared them. I also appreciated that they put salt or something on the ground so it wasn't too slippery. The only complaint I had about the place was that it was really hot but I could see the waitresses were also really hot as they fanned themselves walking around. The food were was actually pretty solid for an ayce restaurant. We got the deluxe plan which is the cheaper option for $30.99. The brisket came with some salt and pepper on it and looked like a better cut than I've seen at other places. We also got some kalbi which came without the bone which is so nice because we didn't have to cut it off and have little meat left over. My husband and I also really liked the marinated steak. I typically like non marinated meat better but the steak was tender and the marinade wasn't too sweet. I used the salt to help cut the sweetness and wrapped it in a lettuce with some radish. I really liked all the meats we tried here. They also have really good sides here that you can't get anymore at a lot of kbbq places like the steamed egg or corn cheese plate. All of the food options were so good and I left very stuffed. I would definitely recommend then kbbq ayce restaurant to anyone in the area!

The service is fast and attentive, even when the restaurant is busy. Be sure to put your name on the waitlist ahead of time, as it can get crowded. There are plenty of delicious options to choose from, but my favorites are the finger garlic beef and the shrimp tempura. If you're looking for tasty food, great service, and lots of variety, Sonu BBQ is definitely worth a visit!
