We've been wanting to try Cherry Blossom and glad that we finally did. The service was friendly l and fast (via QR code) and the food was delicious. Brings me back to eating Burmese food back in LA. My husband got the OG poke bowl and he said it was fresh and tasty. We also shared the tea leaf salad and Khao Soi which was very flavorful. The restaurant space is small, but very serene. Enjoyed trying them out and will definitely be back!

Note: this location is the Carlsbad location and NOT in La Jolla (the menu is different between the two). There are a number of reviews and menus we saw online that were for the La Jolla location. We came here on a Friday night. It wasn't too busy and we were able to seat inside. There is no outside seating. We placed our order at the counter and found a seat to sit inside. We placed an order at the counter and the food arrived at our table in a reasonable amount of time. We ordered the tea leaf salad, fried rice, street noodles, and spring rolls. All the dishes were delicious. The tea leaf salad was a smaller portion so keep that in mind if you are eating family style and sharing with others. We gave this restaurant a shot since I haven't found a good Burmese restaurant in Carlsbad. The ambiance was nice. The chef/server was very nice. The food was ok. For people who haven't tasted Burmese food, this is a pretty good representation of what it should be. I have just had much better food in other places. We were the only people in the restaurant. We were told that they were planning to close soon but at least 3 parties walked in about 15-20 mins after us and they were there for much longer than what the chef had initially said regarding the closing time. The menu is limited but has the basics. There is no alcohol. We ordered the tea leaf salad, street noodles with chicken and Burmese curry with paratha. The tea leaf salad was more like Indian bhel. It was ok. I have had much better salads in other restaurants. It also had fish sauce in it which we were not aware of, and my poor friend ended up having an upset stomach (she is allergic to seafood). That was disappointing because I had specified that we don't want seafood in the street noodles, so I would have liked to be told about the fish sauce. We were asked how spicy the salad should be. We chose 6. It was not spicy. The street noodles were good. The normally come with shrimp and I asked for a replacement. I was told it would come with chicken, so I expected chicken pieces. Instead, we got a grilled chicken leg, which was a little difficult to eat. It didn't really go with the noodles because it wasn't tossed in the same sauce. I should've just ordered the noodles without the meat component. There are two items on the menu - potato curry with paratha and Burmese curry with rice. When asked about the difference, we were told it is the same thing, just a difference in the side. That makes no sense! Then why name it differently? The curry was good - had a homemade feel to it, nice blend of spices and a good portion. The naan was ok..I would have liked it to be thicker and softer. All in all, there are elements of the food which have promise. If you have never tried Burmese food, this is a good option. But the food isn't as good as my previous experiences. Pricing wise, it is Carlsbad pricing. So, I think we paid a little more than I would have liked, for the food.

Ambiance..nicely set tables and cute. Its near lowes and the gas station. Service..fast ans friendly Food..loved the flavor and good quantity. Got the seasoned tofu and Burmese noodles and chai tea. Loved it all and not too spicy.

Visited Carlsbad and stayed at a Hilton nearby and found this restaurant. We went on a weeknight and it was not busy. Service was great. Food was delicious. Place is on the smaller side with comfortable seating. The noodles is a must try, our kids love the sushi hand rolls. Would recommend this place. 10/10

Wow. The owner was so friendly in greeting us and knowing it was our first time even offered us a Thai iced tea on the house. Does that bias my view of the food? Maybe, but I really believe the ICONIC tea leaf salad was named that for a reason. The tea flavor really carried through the whole salad. I definitely recommend it. My partner got the OG ahi tuna poke. He was surprised by the apple but pleasantly so as it mixed well with the sauce and fish. If you're in the area, definitely come check them out!

This place serves the best soup I have ever had. Khao Soi. The flavor is so complex and amazing. With so many different textures as well. This is next level stuff right here. The lady who works here is really nice too. Love this place.

Looking your Burmese food fix in North County? I found this place in Carlsbad! I had to get the tea leaf salad, because it is sooo good! I also got the chicken & potatoes curry, too. This was also good! There aren't that many Burmese places in San Diego, so was happy to see this one closer to home! Need to go back and get try their other dishes.

Okay so normally I don't like places that try to do too many things at once cause how could it all be that good? Well this place does. The kao soi curry noodle dish, the tea leaf salad, and the poke bowl are all fabulous. What a gem. They also have a nice interior design and they are always so kind and efficient. Ps the combo poke had a nice crunch to it and it was green apple chunks. Omg game changer. Would never think to add that in poke but now I want that all the time!

Stopper here to grab lunch, to go, because I had an appointment in the area. It was recommended to try the Burmese Street Noodles since it was a popular item, which I order with shrimp. The flavor was very good, both noodles and shrimp cooked well, and the service was friendly and fast. As good as it was, the shrimp were very small for $25 meal, and there was nothing else included besides scallions, so the value for noodles and small shrimp wasn't there for me.

I can only review the coconut soup and must preface I've never had any Burmese cuisine. My disappointment was in paying $25 for one bowl of soup. It was very oily and did not have the vegetables or egg shown in other reviewers posts. I could not get tofu as an option so chose shrimp and again unlike other reviewers pics showing large tail in shrimp mine were the small ones that you would get in a fish taco. The noodles were of a thick spaghetti type. I could not finish the entire bowl and did not feel "good" after eating it because of all of the oil. I would possibly return to try other dishes, just not the soup. read more

BOMB!!! Burma dishes are few and far between in San Diego, but this place is the a banger! The tea leaf salad is amazing! Unique and authentic flavors that you can't find from other Asian restaurants. Staff was super helpful and the food came quick. Must try! read more

We came for early dinner on a Saturday and it was pretty empty. Ordered tea leaf salad, samosas (wanted lumpia but they were out), paratha, and a curry. Overall everything we ordered was not as flavorful as expected and our samosas were cold in the middle. Surprised based on all the positive yelp reviews... maybe an off night for them. read more

I was thoroughly disappointed as overall the food was fine, but nothing stood out. We ordered the tea leaf salad, original chicken wings, lumpia, street noodles, and fried rice. The chicken wings looked as if they had been reheated and the lumpia and noodles taste wise were okay. The fried rice would probably be my favorite item. As another person mentioned, I've had Burmese food before (loved it!), but this fell short of expectations. read more

biggest disappointment i've had in a while... yelp steered us wrong lol just wanted a quick take out lunch. went in to order instead of calling in since we were already there... food took 30 min to come out and has to be some of the worst south east asian food i've ever had. the khao soi was like yellow colored coconut milk with a sad handful of noodles that were overcooked the tea leaf salad was basic and worth 50% the price i paid as it didn't even fill the container everyone rated this place so high so must've been the fight and argument heard in the kitchen to account for the poor food. maybe new chef? bad day? who knows but for our first meal in carlsbad i wish i went to the kabob place around the corner lol read more

We were scanning Yelp for something different last night, and were surprised to see Cherry Blossom. Burmese food in Carlsbad? Usually interesting new Asian restaurants end up on Convoy or maybe downtown Oceanside. To be able to try a new (to me) cuisine just down the street in Carlsbad is great news! We did take out, but got a look at the restaurant which is a small cozy spot. We talked to the owner's brother, who was very friendly. Burmese food kind of is a combination of Indian and Thai flavors. We had the tea leaf salad, which was great. It was not a typical salad at all, but had an herby, pleasantly bitter flavor, probably from the tea leaves. Fried rice was great, and the Khao Soi was amazing. The latter is somewhere between a curry and a noodle soup, with a coconut base. Delicious! The whole group loved it. We'll be back for sure. I love the fact that it has great food, it's very different from all the other restaurants nearby, and is a small family owned business. Please give them a try! read more

Had a pleasant date night tonight at Cherry Blossom. The staff was helpful and informative. We shared Lumpia, The Iconic Tea Leaf Salad and the OG Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl. Our spice tolerance is pretty low and we started with low spice. Found the food to be cooked well and flavorful. I would up the spice on the Tea Leaf Salad (we probably had it at 0 spice) to add some flavor. The Ahi Tuna was amazing in the Poke Bowl. The Lumpia was good too. The staff is proud of their establishment and shared the culture of the food and the region with us. Will definitely return for more food and the pleasant ambience. read more

This new local eatery highlights Burmese and other Asian -fusion cuisine. If you dine here, you MUST try the delectable tea leaf salad. The complex interplay of crunchy mung beans, peanuts, crispy shallots and garlic in a light citrusy vinaigrette and cabbage base beautifully showcases a variety of flavors and textures which comprise this iconic dish. The menu also offers noodles and rice dishes . We tried the Burmese Street Noodles with vegetables and chicken. The noodles were thin and delicious. The entire dish arrived hot and well seasoned. We truly appreciated the "wok hay" (smokey and savory notes) that are clearly part of this chef's expert wok cooking. Lastly we tried some of the chicken wings "Wangs." We particularly enjoyed the sweet garlic version, as it was crispy, sticky, and finger licking good. This small restaurant is Veteran owned and located in the mall behind the Lowe's home improvement store. Art, the owner, is friendly and happy to share his cuisine with San Diego. The setting was clean and efficient. The music was quaint and focused on light rock from the late 1970s-early 1980s. Bravo! read more

Burmese food! Who knew? Tastylicious. Guy running the place was super friendly and helpful in introducing us to Burmese cuisine. We ordered the tofu app, Burmese fried rice, the ICONIC tea leaf salad, and the OG ahi poke. All 3 of us who ate were very happy! They were also accommodating to me and my gluten free friend, making sure they prepared each dish accordingly, even substituting in GF ingredients where possible. 5 stars! A little pricey, but what isn't these days. At least they are giving you great food for your $! The space is small but it has nice decor and a nice vibe to the place. read more

Saw a TikTok about this place and it did not disappoint! The food was amazing, with a variety of flavors and the service was great! The street noodles were addictive and the Burmese mix veggie curry was very flavorful, and tasted a lot like Indian cuisine! The khao suey was decent but needed a depth of flavor, it was very one note. Overall I loved this place and will definitely be going back again, especially since they have a ton of vegetarian options to try out!! read more

I would give this place 5 stars even if the food was mediocre because the owner is so kind and attentive. Fortunately, the food was delicious. We had the Tea Leaf Salad, Street Noodles and Khao Soi. The tea leaf salad was crunchy, fresh, and had great flavor. The street noodles had a nice kick and had nice heat. My favorite was the Khao Soi. I had this dish at other places and this was my favorite. It's creamy and had such a deep coconut curry flavor which soothes the soul. All three dishes had generous portions. Oh and the Chai Tea was so good. I don't even like Chai but this one was sweet but not too sweet. I love trying new foods and Cherry Blossom needs to stick around for all to try. read more

I ordered the chicken & potatoes curry with bread, Thai tea, & shrimp noodles. It was all very good. My favorite was the curry because it was seasoned well. My only complaint is that I wish the portion sizes were larger. I will be returning to eat there again. read more

Chef Philip and Art. Absolute gems for service and taste!!! Simple delicious dishes. Decor simple and clean with background music that is easy and allows for comfortable conversation. Oily. No vegetables .. too pathetic to appeal to the taste buds. Didn't eat it. Vegetables and tofu... had inches of oil floating over it. Supposed to be in a coconut milk base. DIDNT TOUCH IT. JUST TOSSED IT OUT. .. Don't understand what the reviews are about. Don't trust it. A huge waste of money. Your own simple salad and a grilled something that is what is most satisfactory. Ha! I thought my first review wasnt as detailed so I started over lol! Started off with a refreshing mango tea that I'll probably order each time I visit. . Then had the potato samosas which is like a lumpia with potato filling. Delicious!! Then the tea leaf salad that consists of a cabbage slaw with tea leaves, crispy topping, peanuts, tomatoes and a slightly spicy vinaigrette with citrus and a dash of fish sauce. Loved it! Then I tried the Golden coconut curry soup with chicken. You can pick other proteins for the soup such as shrimp, tofu or vegetarian. It was definitely the star of the show!! That coconut curry broth was mild, smooth and very flavorful . I've never had anything like it! it was light and you can pick your spice level for the soup and the tea leaf salad. For dessert I had the Chinese donut. Its not a typical donut. Its more like a cross between a churro and a French pastry. It wasn't overly sweet at all and there was a dollop of whip cream and macerated strawberries. Wow! What a great way to end a perfect meal! The owner is such a sweetheart! He constantly checked on us and made sure we had a great experience. They've only been open a couple months. I'm so glad that I dropped by! read more

What an amazing hidden gem in Carlsbad! The chicken paratha was delicious as was the poke bowl. Can't wait to go back and get what they are famous form. I was so excited to see a Burmese restaurant in the area as I've frequented one in the Bay Area quite a bit. We tried the tea leaf salad and Chicken Khao Soi. Both super flavorful. Maybe a squeeze of lime in the salad but overall very good. Will definitely go back to try some other items on the menu. Great service, friendly staff and clean facility. They served us on beautiful china even though we ate outside. Give it a try if you are in the mood for Thai or Indian as this is a great mix! You won't regret it! read more

We enjoyed the most delicious authentic Burmese food at Cherry Blossom. We ordered samosa rolls, chicken & potato curry with paratha, khao soi, shrimp fried rice, c kyat noodles and salmon & rice. Tried Cherry Blossom for the first time and it did not disappoint. The OG poke bowl was amazing -- super fresh and full of flavor. My wife and her parents ordered a few different dishes, and everyone really enjoyed theirs. Service was excellent -- super friendly and attentive. This amazing new spot is that we needed here in Carlsbad. Food - amazing flavors, we had the Curry and Khao Soi. Two of the best dishes we have had in a while. Their version I believe is Burmese which is unbelievably delicious. Service - fantastic, very clean! Price - great price for quality of food. Yummy lunch today at this 2 month old spot. Friendly service, laid back cozy ambiance, authentic delicious Asian food. Ordered: Burmese Street noodles with shrimp (they gave lots of shrimp!) The food was excellent and the Thai iced tea was very good. Most places add way too much sugar, so much so that it overpowers the tea taste. I ate the shrimp street noodles with level 7 heat. It hit the spot.. I will definitely return. If you want good food in a non-pretentious environment, this is a place to add to your list of weekly stops. read more
