However, when the technician arrived, I was charged $179 instead. I agreed to the repair, but shortly after the technician left--within 20 minutes--I called back to cancel the service, as I found another technician who could do the repair the same day. Initially, I was told that canceling wouldn't be a problem. But about 30 minutes later, I received another call informing me it was "too late" to cancel. I asked to speak with a manager. When I finally reached her, she told me she would adjust the service call fee back to the original $129. That credit was never applied. Two days later, I was told the part had arrived. But when I called to schedule the repair, I was suddenly told that the part hadn't even been ordered. After putting me on hold to check, the representative realized her mistake and scheduled the service for October 8. When I asked for a time window, I was told simply "all day." Again, I asked to speak with a manager. I was promised a callback within 24-48 hours. It never happened--despite multiple follow-up calls and text messages on my part. The technician eventually returned on October 8 and completed the repair. Then, on October 9, I received a call from the district manager clearly only because I had left negative feedback. When I explained the situation and mentioned that I had been requesting a manager for nearly two weeks, he claimed this was the first he was hearing of it. He made no effort to investigate what had happened, and his only solution was to offer a free service call in the future like I would ever want to use them after this nightmare of lies and unprofessionalism. This entire experience was frustrating, disorganized, and unprofessional from start to finish. Communication was poor, promises were broken, and the level of customer service was unacceptable. I would not recommend Mr. Appliance to anyone looking for reliable, transparent, or respectful service.

The tech, Shawn, called when he was 16 min out and arrived right at the beginning of the two-hour window that had been promised. He couldn't have been more friendly, polite and professional. He got to the root of the problem quickly, and then found another. He fixed that, too. It had been a clogged drain and a blown wire of some kind. Then, he gave me some tips on how to keep the unit clean and fit going forward. I am so glad I called Hawkins and they will be my go-to appliance repair from now on.
