I'm in love with this gift shop! They took my usual boring food products and put a cherrific twist on it! Examples: coffee, threw that out of the window and starting enjoying the chocolate cherry coffee. Salsa, got salsified with Cherry salsa, peach salsa and green cherry salsa (can't decide on a favorite). Then the chocolate covered cherries (heavenly), you have got to get the cherry quartet box. Can't leave without the cherry cider, or even the cherry ginger ale. During the holidays or even a special birthday, anniversary for friends out of state, I send them these amazing gift sets which they love and also they get to sample a part of what Northern Michigan has to offer. Cherry Republic is amazing. That's all I have to say. The store itself is small and cozy, and samples are everywhere. I am definitely guilty of just walking in and trying all the samples then walking back out. It's that good!! My favorites have to be the chocolate covered cherries (because who doesn't like chocolate covered anything), and the Green Cherry Salsa. But any cherry salsa they have is good. The perfect mix of sweet and heat, and it just works on anything! Chips, bread, chicken. Literally anything. I've been here several times since moving to the Midwest, and if you haven't, it's high time you stopped by. The store specializes in, well, cherries! We visited on a cold day in February to restock on salsa, jam, and root beer. I consider free samples to be the mark of an establishment that knows what it's doing and has confidence in its products, and Cherry Republic is no exception. You can taste everything they make here. If something isn't out, chances are a clerk will open it for you and start a sample container; the second time I came here, I wanted to taste the cherry white chocolate peanut butter, and I asked, and they said, "Sure!" This goes for cherry wine, hard cider, candies, jams, and salsas as well. They also have ample samples just sitting around in the store for perusal (read: lunch). I think the top products here are the cherry salsa, cherry horseradish sauce, pepper jams, and cherry root beer. There are no bum products in this store, and the clerks are friendly and helpful. Some may sounds weird to put cherry in, but they taste amazing. I like they have so many samples that you can try, so that you have a better idea about what you are getting. As a poor UM graduate student, I made many trips to Cherry Republic to fill up on their delicious samples. There's a huge selection of cherry everything including salsa, candies, and jams. The staff are very nice and helpful. The items are pricey, hence why I only began purchasing items when I visit Ann Arbor now as an alumna. Their chocolate covered cherries are dangerous and being a sour gummy fan, I pick up a bag of those also. They also offer various snack mixes each containing those yummy dried cherries. The quality is noticeable in the products and the cherries are always bursting with flavor and wonderfully soft. It's also a great place to pick up some gifts to bring back home and if you don't want to check a bag they ship for a fair price. I do admit, I still love to stock up on samples when I go. read more

Product line remains a 5 star plus in terms of taste, quality and originality. One star here for their ordering process. We went in on an advertised Friday Madness sale, ordered eighty bucks to send out, only to find out that the advertised 15% discount was valid --- this year--- only after 5 pm. It was 10:30 am. When we questioned, the gal behind the counter told us "yeah, they (meaning Corporate) change the times that the discount applies every year." We hit it on a year with a late start for the discount. Not that the few bucks broke the bank, just the point of it all, with NO discussion about cutting us a break, considering. Next year, we'll skip completely the overrated Cherry Republic and deal with a more customer service friendly shop. read more

Good Michigan product; but don't trust your business gifts to them. Don't let their warehouse and logistics team make you and your business look like an idiot like they did to me. I've been doing business with Cherry Republic since 2012 and have spent thousands with them. I've always sent my clients "Super Seven" (one of the most expensive packages). I've been visiting Glen Arbor since a child and watched this business grow. A client mentioned to me in 2014 how they loved the "turtle chocolates" and "sausage" they received. Someone at Cherry Republic charged me for a super seven but replaced it with another package without letting me know. Embarrassed; I called customer service and they gave me a $50 gift card to remedy the situation...ok that was nice; I'll let it slide. In 2016, it was the last straw. I sent the business gifts Excel sheet filled out properly as usual mid-November 2016. In December I received a photo from a client asking if they had received the intended gift? They received a package with another clients holiday message in it. The result of this was that it let that particular customer know who else I was doing business with and made my business look incompetent. Knowing the rest of the packages were in shipment to all of my other clients I had to damage control the rest of them and let them all know they may receive messages addressed to other clients; again making my business look incompetent. Frantic; I tried to contact Cherry Republic business gifts. They send out no shipping information to businesses; so you have no way of tracking shipments. It was after 5pm; but I sent them an e-mail anyway. The next day, it was nearing 9am without hearing anything from them so I called. Was told they will check the warehouse. Heard back from them at 10:30am to 11:00am..surprise most of the other shipments had already been delivered at that time except one. I told them to stop the shipment; ensure the message in it was correct, then re-ship it. The pain still doesn't stop there. The particular business this package was supposed to go to has two offices. I sent one super seven to each office. The one in-route package was to a west coast office. As far as I know Cherry Republic stopped this package, ensured it was correct and sent it on. Good job there. Mysteriously I get contacted by the west coast office again a week later letting me know they received a second shipment. As far as we both know the mid-US office never received a shipment to begin with...so my west coast client ships the holiday gift themselves to their mid-US office. Complete incompetence all around. I've worked for years to build a small contracting business and I would have been better off to not send anything through Cherry Republic this year. If this has happened to me 2x in the last four years I'm confident it is happening to other people as well. P.S. Their print advertising is also overly aggressive. I don't need six to eight brochures sent to two different addresses every year showcasing the same products over and over again. read more

This place normally ranks high in my heart as a place I like to stop by, taste some samples, and splurge on some cherry-infused goodness (whether it be a cherry soda, some chocolate covered cherries for the road, etc.). Prices are a bit high as it markets to the touristy/gift-giving crowd, but it's still a fun novelty store. However, their shipping options makes me knock down several stars here. They did tell us that they don't ship from this location, but the orders get mailed from their other location. We did still bring up the physical items we wanted mailed, so we could show exactly what we wanted to be mailed to a friend as a Thank-You gift. First off, they don't show you anything as they are entering it in, and say it's all sent via an email to you (i.e., no printed receipt of everything, etc). Well after specifically calculating, with the shipping costs, what I thought would be $50 purchase...turns out was $65! When we asked what happened, they said the prices are different when you ship the item, but there was no break down of knowing how much each of the items were worth! They said that'd be emailed to you. Well we never got the email, and they said it could take a moment, so we left the store, with just a small slip of paper with the order #. Several days later, still no confirmation email, let alone knowing if the order was shipped. We called the store to find out they typed the name in our email wrong. There was no apology, other than "oh well, you know what happens when you assume"...what is that supposed to mean?! Did they assume what my last name was based on my race, so this misspelled it to a different last name?? Not only did they not really apologize and said a somewhat racist response instead, but we still then never could get the actual email, and they could only provide that the item was shipped, but again, no information on what items we purchased/were sent, the break down of the cost, nor a tracking of the shipment to know when/if it delivered. As a side note, we thought it'd be easier to go in person to purchase the items, since online their website is not accurate looking either, i.e., gift basket pictures and their descriptions of the products included, are way off (e.g., there would be a picture of their cookies in the basket, but the description did not have that). So if you try to purchase things online even, it might not be a better option either. read more

This is a really cool store. Everything cherry. The cherry wines are or miss. I really enjoyed the Reisling. That said, the variety is impressive, with straight up cherry wine and some cherry-grape mixes. The cherry sour gummies are delicious. And the cherry original salsa is DELICIOUS! The extra dark chocolate cherries are also a really good mix of sweet and bitter. And they have fantastic service, letting you try almost everything to pick out what your favorites are. So happy that I've found this location! I'm a northern Michigan girl that has been transplanted in metro Detroit and Cherry Republic has been one of the stores I've missed most. If you even remotely enjoy cherry items, this is a store for you! It's also a great place to go for gifts, they have a huge range of products from wine, salsas, jams and candy. There are also Michigan themed magnets, ornaments, and cutting boards for gifts. My favorites are the cherry mango salsa( mild but has a kick), Ballantine Cherry wine and the sour cherry gummies (look out, it's so easy to eat the whole bag!!) There are samples throughout the store, making it fun to try new things & also to grab a sample of your favorites while waiting in the check out line. I'm not usually a huge fan of cherries, so it was nice to be able to sample the items and see what I might like. Seriously so many samples: trail mix, barbecue sauce, peanut butter, chocolates, salsas, other candies, wine, jam, fruit butters, and I'm sure lots of other items I can't even remember. This is a quintessential gift shop. They have gift boxes you can purchase, or you can assemble your own. When I visited, they had an incredible discount on shipping. Whether you're out shopping or looking for an afternoon activity, Cherry Republic is worth a visit. I did a quick wine tasting at their mini bar. There's room for 4 people or so. Cherries On Cherries On Cherries On Cherries - awesome! While walking around downtown Ann Arbor and exploring, I was pulled in by the sign of 'Cherry Wine: Free Samples'. Um, yes. Walking in, the wine sample bar is in the back of the store, smartly leaving you to traverse through the multitude (Millions?!?!) of delicious foodstuff uses of Michigan Cherries. As such, it was literally impossible for me to not pick up some cherry honey and other cherry related paraphernalia. Literally. Now let's get to the wine - I'm not the biggest white/sweet wine connoisseur, so I was delighted to find that there were a few red blends with 20% cherry wine that were delicious. Even so, my favorite was the 100% Balantine Cherry Wine. I'd never had that before and it was amazing! So flavorful with the cherry taste very forward, and different which was awesome. I decided to get a few bottles to bring home to my fiancee as a gift from my trip and the cashier was nice enough to spend the time making a pretty presentation in a nice box - complete with pine cone. As I don't live in MI, I was stoked to find you can order their cherry wine, which I will definitely do. read more
