Came here to try the epic wings of lore. Arrived around opening time bar was already populated. Might be the friendliest staff in town. The food portions are big - luckily I had my teenager with me or I dont know how we would have whittled it down to one doggy bag. Food was great - their famous wings are unique and legit. Buffalo chicken dip delicious and probably gave me coronary artery disease. We never put a dent in the mountain of chili cheese fries as a result - those came home. They are familiar with the art of pouring a Guinness. Probably the only hitch in this place is that its like trying to find the track 9 3/4 to the Hogwarts Express - its down a one-way side street and I've never seen or driven by this place ever the entire time I've lived in Stamford. An old Siwanoy Indian guide found it for me with a dowsing rod dipped in blue cheese dressing. They do have a convenient parking lot. read more

Murphy's is awesome. The food is great, the service is great, there are options for any kind of ambiance you want. It's hands down one of the best burgers around. While it might be slightly (like a 5 minute walk) off the "beaten path" of the downtown scene - that's also part of what makes going there so good. WARNING - THIS BAR IS NOT SAFE FOR WOMEN! My partner and I were repeatedly harassed here tonight by an extremely drunk man at the bar, who had clearly been over-served and could barely string a sentence together. At first we just tried to ignore this person, but we finally asked the owner for some help. Instead of removing this person or doing anything, the owner Dan refused to help us and went so far as to call us "emotional" and gaslight us about the situation. He told us "his hands are tied" and that he can't kick someone out of his own bar (?) - this is the most unsafe we have ever felt in Stamford, there are SO many other bars you can and should go to. Unfortunate, but this place clearly cares more about retaining drunk losers as their customers than treating women with a shred of respect. read more

For my money the most genuine and fun pub in Stamford CT ....great owners / management and always a personable and chill social crowd. Been here all seasons and of course during the Irish season and Stamford parade. Love the outdoors and indoors and bar area and John the manager is the very best. Generally an older crowd than the fancy see and be seen spots deeper in town. Food is scrumptious but tonight I'm here for the exquisite Guinness..... This is it! I have been searching for a Stamford Bar and Grill that doesn't require a small business loan to eat and drink there. This one checks all the boxes. Solid tap selection? Check. Good food? Check. We had the Black and Tan onion rings. So good. We had the Buffalo grilled wings. Maybe the best I have ever had. We split the Rueben with fries. Delicious. Want free parking? Murphys is the best bar in Stamford and quite possibly the world. All their food is amazing with the burgers, wings and Chili being the standouts. Everything else is also very good as well! They also have the best staff who will make you feel very at home. Tim, Dan, Tony and Vince are all great and super friendly. Finally the atmosphere is great as it's a classic Irish Pub. My husband and I just picked up takeout. I've been recovering from an illness and haven't been able to eat anything because nothing appealed to me so I wanted to try something new. Cute dive bar with nice outdoor seating in the good weather. Came across this place by searching best burgers in Stamford on Google. They have many great choices for apps! We got the queso which I loved as well as the blue cheese burger and bbq burger which were great! The portions were a little small. The main complaint I have is that the kitchen shuts at 10:00 pm on a Saturday. I found it bizarre that I even mentioned it to the waitress. Since they have drinks available after 10:00, they should have some sort of late night menu for food. They are losing major money as the table of 10 next to us ordered drinks and proceeded to McDonald's for food. They are losing money and should look into hiring a late night chef, at least just for Friday and Saturday night. Other than that suggestion, I would recommend this place. read more

Cute dive bar with a spacious outdoors patio, great for a summer day/night. The wings looked delicious, so went with that. Couldn't choose between plain ones or the ones with buffalo sauce so asked if I could get the 10 and split it, and waiter said of course, no problem. The plain is not flavorful, a little salt would have gone a long way. The buffalo sauce ones were decent. Overall a pretty meh wing experience. The worst part being that they charged me like I ordered 2 separate orders 2 x 5 pieces at $7 bucks each = $14 versus 10 pieces for $12. When I originally asked the waiter about it I wish he clarified that he would charge me in such a manner. Should probably blame myself but I don't think I've ever been to a wing place that does that like this. $2 bucks is not a big deal but damn could have saved $2 bucks and had them all sauced, which was the superior option. I've only been here a few times, but I have a positive take so far. It is true, they have really good wings. I only tried the grilled buffalo so far, and they were perfectly cooked and very tasty. My only complaint is that you can't request hotter wings, because they just use one buffalo sauce, and it's really rather mild. I want to try the fried wings in the other flavors next time. I called to order wings once, and was told that the kitchen doesn't open until 5. That was surprising because it's not on the website/menu. The bar area itself has a very laid back vibe, the true neighborhood bar. There are regulars there most nights, and often people who enter know each other. Stopped by for dinner a couple of days ago after a long, exhausting day at work. I was craving a big fat juicy burger after walking around the neighborhood and smelling the aroma of steak everywhere. Murphy's was my first highly-rated result on Yelp, so I figured we'd give it a try. After we parked our car at their lot (definite pro) and excitedly walked to the front of the restaurant, nobody was there to assist us. We stood around for a bit, then eventually asked the bartender inside whether we can take a seat outdoors. Even upon taking a seat, it took a while for our waitress to come through. When she did, she asked us whether she can help us with anything ... and I simply asked for the menu. She was friendly, but service was a tad slow. I went for the Murphy Burger with lettuce, tomatoes and onions with a side salad and lots and lots of ketchup while my other half requested for a popular item on their new menu, the name of which I can't recall, but it came with bacon and cheese. My burger was the big fat juicy burger I had been craving - a whopping 6oz patty between brioche buns with a fresh salad topped with dressing of your choice. I sampled my other half's burger and it was quite the challenge getting a bite, even with my big mouth, but it was a messy, scrumptious bite alright. The best part of dining outdoors at Murphy's was the relaxed mood and good spirit it placed us in. They played some old tunes while we beastly and carnivorously devoured our burgers and sipped on some cold beer. I'd return again, but hopefully someone will be there to seat us next time. read more

Great bar! I can't believe this was my first time at Murphy's. The service was great. They are dog friendly, and the waitress even brought out a bowl of water for the dog without anyone asking. That was very thoughtful and much appreciated! They have a ping pong table outside which is pretty cool and unique in the downtown Stamford area. Murphy's is a great place to go with a group of friends. My group was outside the majority of the time, but the inside seemed nice as well. The crowd seemed on the older side, which turned out to be a nice change of pace. I would definitely come back here!
