I liked that I was able to compare before I bought a whole bag. Prices were very reasonable here. They were either cheaper or spot on as to other touristy places we stopped at. All of the cherry preserves, jams, salsas, pie filling, candy, etc. you could want that make Door County famous. They also were selling a number of autumn decor like gourds and pumpkins. There was a playground for the kids to play on but not much else like you might find at other orchards. This one is a working orchard and the biggest draw is the chance to pick your own fruit. Even still, it was worth the visit.

The gentleman at the pitting machine was a total grump and didn't bother to tell us that we were first supposed to pay for the cherries and bring the receipt to him. Needless to say that we got chastised by the cashier for not following the right order of things. While the pitting is great, they were rinsed with so much water that was not well drained so by the time we got home the cherries were a mushy, waterlogged mess. It is doubtful we will be back.

I love apple cider donuts, but Wisconsin is known for its cherries. I was not a fan of the cherry donut sample I tried. I did end up getting some coffee, jelly, and dried cherries to take home. They have lots of home decor items and cherry donuts that are deep-fried into chips, which I did not try. You can also get a cup of coffee, and they have lots of pie and baked goods. Prices were pretty typical for these types of stands. $3 for small items and $10 for larger canned items

The market is smaller than I imagined, but it was stacked with lots of goodies. There were samples throughout and I really enjoyed the tart cherry juice and picked up a bottle to take home. They also had blue Amish popcorn, which is a treat. I was surprised there weren't any regular restrooms but just a portable outside which an employee told me even they must use. No thank you. I guess it's too early for fresh corn even though it was sold at the market it was not from Wisconsin because it is too early. So that was a little disappointing, thinking I was getting fresh corn.

There is also a huge selection of beers and we got some local Ale from Appleton to pair with it. The atmosphere felt cold, unfriendly, and almost as if our presence was an inconvenience. My husband sarcastically referred to it as the "Happy Farm" because it was anything but happy. Unfortunately, that pretty well summed up our visit. My husband is still kicking himself for not simply walking out and leaving our items on the counter. Looking back, he wishes he had trusted his instincts instead of rewarding such poor customer service with our business. After our visit, I read through other reviews and noticed that many people described similar experiences, so it doesn't appear we were alone in feeling this way. That's unfortunate because a business can have great products, but if customers don't feel welcomed or appreciated, it takes away from the entire experience. Hospitality costs nothing. A simple "hello," a smile, or a friendly attitude would make a world of difference. Instead, we left feeling unwelcome and disappointed. Until that changes, we won't be returning, and I can't recommend this market to anyone looking for a friendly, enjoyable shopping experience.
