I've been here for maybe 3-4 haircuts throughout the years. My past experiences have all been pretty good. Quick haircuts and Cherry is friendly. I was extremely disappointed by the service I received today. I showed Cherry a picture of the haircut I wanted and she quickly glanced at it and started snipping away. Most hair stylists double check the length before starting to cut but she didn't do that today. I ended up getting a short bob and it looked nothing like the picture I showed her. After the damage was done, she realized her mistake and apologized. She straightened my hair instead of adding waves to it like the picture. I might be a bit more understanding if it was very busy. The salon was empty aside from one other client who was being helped by another hair stylist. Cherry probably cut & styled my hair in 20 minutes, which would be okay, considering my hair is very thin and fine. But at the very least, take some time to study and ask your clients what they would like before starting. $35 and for some reason, I was stupid and tipped her. I have been coming to Cherry salon for about 17 years now. First time giving them a review so really overdue. We are always very satisfied with the service here. The staff is courteous and professional. The salon is clean and comfortable ambiance. The small waiting area in the front is adequate. We mainly come here for Cherry and Debbie. They are awesome for any hair needs you have. Very patient and they get it right the first time. You'll need to tell them what you want and if possible bring a picture of the haircyt you desire. They have a wide variety of hair services at a decent price. I come here for men's haircut of course and sometimes coloring etc. My my wife and daughter came here today for trims and hair treatments. It's located in a small strip mall that has other businesses and restaurants. You can check out the restaurants ( Filipino, Thai, Indonesian, Korean, Japanese sushi) next to this location to get good food. Parking can be challenging sometimes. This salon has been the goto salon for the Filipino actresses and actors for many years. I definitely recommend this place. Come check then out. You can call for an appointment. Would not recommend to come if you want to book makeup services. My cousin-in-law booked well ahead of time for her WEDDING DAY, but upon early arrival to her appointment, the shop was CLOSED. This ruined the morning of her big day! UNPROFESSIONAL due to: 1) Lack of communication. There was no follow-up regarding the servicer missing the appointment completely, or even OPENING THE SHOP that day. For the whole day, not even an apology or an update on why the shop was closed. Wouldn't a well-established service communicate with its customers? 2) Lying. Followed up today regarding the missed appointment time. Asked if the shop was even open yesterday and the one who answered said "Yes." A flat-out lie proven by my cousin-in-law's experience. Overall, this establishment could have had a happy and satisfied client, making a beautiful bride! But no, they were highly unprofessional and valued themselves more than their customers. My daughter went here yesterday to get her hair dyed for her birthday in a couple days only for her to call me crying. Her hair was a nice brown color when she went into the salon and she came out with a mix of blue streaks, red undertones and dry damaged hair. The hairstylist told her that the blue streaks would come out in a couple washes, but when I had a look at it, I knew it was just an excuse to save herself. Not only did they mess up her hair, but they were completely unprofessional. She could hear her hairstylist complaining about wanting to go home and even told her directly that it was so much work after applying the dye cause she had too much hair. She only glanced at the reference photo once and just started going away at her hair. She tried blaming her by saying she didn't tell her that her hair was bleached before but, she didn't ask. My daughter is not a hairstylist how was she supposed to know it would make the bleach process faster. She asked for color and balayage but got nothing close of the sort. The most important thing for me with stylists is communication. Sure you can show them a photo as a reference, but communication goes both ways! I.e: I showed Tita Debbie a photo of how I wanted my hair to look and she took the time to explain to me why she won't be able to get it exactly the same because of my current hair length, etc--and I was fine with that, because, you know, she explained it thoroughly for me! I've seen past reviews complaining about their stylists not getting the style right, but I feel that there was definitely a lack of communication there that could've prevented it from happening or at least gave them a better understanding. The worst experience ever! I have grown out highlights and specifically told Cherry I wanted color from root to tip to cover my grays. Cherry promised to color my hair "ash blonde" but lied. She was very rude too. Poor customer service. My hair looked darker! Hats off though to the lady receptionist who washed my hair for awesome, superb service! She was very friendly and caring about the dye staining the side of my face vs. Cherry who just slabbed the color on my hair sloppily, the dye dripping to the side of my face to my jaw, i had to wipe it off myself. She just asked me my dress color and kind of went on from there and did what she wanted. She went a little too dark on my smokey eye and I wanted a very natural look for my senior prom, not something heavy. She was patient though, and very nice. She was quick too and did a very good job on covering all the blemishes on my skin and the fake eyelashes she put on me lasted the whole day. I was impressed at that. About my hair, I liked it a lot, perhaps more than the make up. I went for a half-up do and my only problem was that the curls died too fast and it was pretty much straight by the end of the night. Hi! I made a yelp account just to rant and give my review on this one. So this is the story-- I was able to book an appointment to Cherry's Salon thru Vagaro on April 4, 2023 for my wedding on April 15 at 9AM. Me & my sis-in law even went to their salon the next morning (april5) just to confirm our appointment. We talked to Ms. Cherry herself on that day and even handed me their wedding make up brochure and gave me a discount! I got so excited! April12 I received an email from Vagaro for the appointment confirmation, I confirmed it immediately. Then I got another email for a reminder (april14). Everything was set! Or so we thought. April 15 (my big day) came, my MIL and I arrived to their salon 5mins prior to their opening, but we waited for 30mins, called them (no answer) and still NO ONE came to open the salon. We had to go back home & ask my cousins in law to do the make up for me. We had to rush everything coz we're running late on my wedding day! Yes i had a good cry coz I was late on my wedding day because of them! And we didn't even get a call from them til now for an explanation nor an apology for ruining our big day Maybe because I am not a celebrity, just a nobody that is Not worth their time Nor an apology. I went to this salon for 15-years and the reason I finally left was Cherry can never remember my name and a lot of times she was late to the appointment. For the first few times, she gave me a discount because she was tardy. Afterwards, the discount stopped, but the tardiness continued. I didn't make a fuss about it because she was a good stylist. I went to the salon about 3-4 times a year to get a haircut. I was afraid that I was not going to find another stylist like her since I went through a lot of stylist before I finally found someone that can cut my hair the way I like it. I was so impressed with her in the first few years that I went here that I referred her to my whole family and friends. They all went to her then they stopped after 3-years since they told me that the quality was diminishing. I should have listened to them and it was my fault that I waited so long to find someone new. There were a few times where she didn't listen to how I wanted my hair cut or she had cut my hair too short. Regardless, I found a new stylist who genuinely cares about her clients. I went to this salon for the first time because my sister has done her balayage here before and it was pretty okay. I showed her a picture of a girl with the top half of her hair black and the bottom part platinum blonde. She explained to me that it won't get that light because I am going from black hair, which I totally understood. I knew I was going to only get light brown at the lightest. The problem happened when she got to the bleaching process. She sectioned my hair and separated them into the top and bottom section. So far, so good. Then, she grabbed her bleach and started applying it to the roots of my bottom half. Why she started from roots, I will understand. She also didn't section any part of my bottom half as she applied the roots. And of course, as you would expect it, my hair was incredibly uneven. She then goes onto explaining to me that it was because my hair was virgin hair. Which I don't understand, because I know virgin hair is the easiest to color. Additionally, the virgin hair doesn't excuse the uneven way that my hair is bleached. The roots were light brown, some sections of my hair were platinum after toner, while other sections remained dark brown. Perhaps because she realized how much she f-cked up my hair but she offered to bleach it for the second time for free, which I accepted. She continued to explain to my sister and I that it's because I was going from black hair, because I have virgin hair, that my hair turned out super uneven. As if we didn't see the way she bleached from the roots without sectioning my hair at all. Her haircut was beautiful. But I could have done without bleaching my hair TWICE when I just wanted to do it once. The process left my hair very fried and this mistake could've been avoided if only she sectioned my hair. read more
