Finholm's has a lot of history in this neighborhood and there is a nearby sign where you can read up on some of it. Inside the store I wouldn't exactly call it a full fledged supermarket but there are plenty of snacky items and the beer selection is great! There are a lot of brands of beer that aren't commonly seen in the area so if you are into craft beer there is a lot to check out! But not only that they have beers on tap that you can enjoy as well and hang out there! There is a place that serves food inside. It's a waffle shop in which you can get sweet or savory waffles. That place has it's own Yelp entry and I will write a review for that in the near future. But definitely check out Finholm's and read up on it's history... it's pretty interesting!

When we walked up to the checkout, the cashier and the employee bagging groceries were engaged in a conversation and laughing together. We completely understand that employees interact with one another, but once customers are at the register, they should feel acknowledged. Unfortunately, neither employee looked up, smiled, greeted us, or said a single word during the transaction. The only thing the cashier said was while handing me the receipt, and it was so quiet I couldn't even understand what was said. The lack of even basic acknowledgment made us feel like an interruption rather than valued customers. Metropolitan Market has always had a reputation for exceptional service, which is why this experience was so surprising and disappointing. I hope this was simply an isolated incident, but it's something management should be aware of.

I kept seeing people walking near the Columbia Bank building carrying food so today I decided to be adventurous and wander down that way. I wasn't sure where they were coming from because there's no sign on the outside of the building for a restaurant. After peering in the windows, I realized there was a deli inside. Their menu isn't terribly large (they do have many breakfast offerings), but it looked tasty. I opted for the cold roast beef sandwich and a small container of broccoli salad. Wow, this is one of the best sandwiches I've had in the area! It was a good sized sandwich made fresh while I waited and the combined total for both items was less than most places charge for a sandwich alone. I'll definitely be back to try something new.

The hours are good and parking isn't too bad (except the night before a holiday). The people at met market are pretty friendly. We have a number of items that we like to get here vs Whole Foods or coop or TJs. It's the closest thing we have to PCC. My 4 year old LOVES met market!
