I brought my car to fix a misfire. They have told me it's because of valve cover gasket leak, and offered a replacement. Since car was there for a couple of days, asked to replace shocks and back break rotors. They have replaced me rotors and shocks, and told that I need a new engine, because my V8 is dead. After getting ODB scanner and googling error code, first link was showing the answer... loose cable on ignition coil, which should be the first thing to check when you have misfires... Next week seen 4 or 5 engines on their premises for replacement. Moreover, I have driven a bit more than 1k miles on new shocks, and they started to rumble like old one. They put shitty parts. My neighbor did a body work there.... I could do better with spray can... Stay away from this business. read more

This evening I was doing some service on my car and ran out of differential fluid when I was flushing the diff...I knew chances would be extremely slim of finding anywhere open locally at that would sell it, so I wandered from gas station to gas station hopelessly looking for some. Fortunately, I happened upon this Chevron. When I asked the cashier he looked at me quizzically and wanted to know what differential fluid was...He said they have stocks of fluids in the shop and we walked over..And to my luck, there it was - Redline High-Performance 75W-90 Differential fluid...Yes! I can only assume this isn't something they usually sell to retail customers as he couldn't scan it in to the register. So he pulled out his iPhone and found the lowest price online and sold it to me at that price. Awesome! I also noticed they had other fluids that meet common German car specs (Pentosin power steering fluid, etc) that are often difficult to find at run of the mill auto parts store..I can only assume they would be just as readily willing to sell these fluids to retail customers as well. If I ever run out of supplies mid-job again I'll definitely be running to this Chevron! read more

Came for a full service on my 03 mustang GT expecting to pay around $300 so they called me and said I needed 1,500 dollars of service. Well I decided to get a second opinion from a shop that my parents are more familiar with and just had them do an oil change. Well I drove it about a mile and my service engine light came and so I immediately turn back around and took it back to the shop. They had forgotten to put my oil cap back on and had disconnected one of my fuel injector valves and not reconnected them. They were VERY friendly but those are mistakes that shouldn't be happening. Lesson learned about stopping somewhere where I don't know the mechanics and I simply stopped because of a deal. read more

As my friends and family know, I am kind of a car geek. I love my Preludes, but I love all kinds of cars and am addicted to all those car shows on TV. While I love my cars and try to take good care of them,I had let some routine maintenance slide, partially because I moved to California and hadn't found "the" place and partially with the move from Texas, I felt pretty poor for awhile. Yesterday, I realized that my 2001 Prelude was in BAD need of a tune-up and and an oil change. I have never used a gas station service department before for difficult stuff or diagnostics, I had always tried to find a Honda specialist, but the last one I went to in Walnut Creek were total shysters and charged me an unspeakable price for spark plug wires, so I had been holding back. So this place is right near my house and a couple months ago, I asked them if they would do an oil change with my good synthetic oil and they didn't blink, charged me a cheap price and were super nice. Hmmm. Then I started to notice that they always had some cool cars around the place, tucked in back and whatnot. Hmmmm. Old beat up rescued 60's Porsche gutted and waiting for a restore, a sweet old caddy convertible, hey, is that an old Impala?? Vintage pick up? Sweeeet. So, someone here actually really likes cars, I thought. Check. So I brought my car in and started talking to Moe, the owner. He lit up when he saw my Prelude, and we started talking cars. OK, I REALLY like this guy now. He likes Preludes. He had a 3rd gen and still remembers it. He thinks they are awesome. He genuinely likes cars and you can see he cares about them. I hand him the keys and let do whatever he suggested. ALL his suggestions were right on the money. Yes, I needed brakes. I knew that, sort of, but he showed me why and let me look at what was wrong. He poked around and found a bad hose and explained why it was bad - this is EXACTLY what I wanted!! Someone who treats me like someone who loves my cars, who didn't talk down to me, who was super reasonable. He found a hole in my radiator that would have caused me a disaster in a matter of days and went ahead and replaced it on a Saturday. How did he find this part on Saturday?? When I came to pick up the car, he test drove it before he gave it to me and was grinning like a school kid. He said it totally made his day when he really fixes up a car and it drives totally different than when he gets it. He was right. With my new platinum plugs and fancy Japanese blue spark plug wires, new gaskets, front and back brakes, etc., etc., my car was happy! The price was more than reasonable. I don't trust many mechanics. I trust Moe. Oh, and if you have a Honda Prelude, you should definitely come here! read more

I was reluctant to take my car (BMW 7 series) here at first bc I do most of my work myself to keep costs low. However, when it comes to meticulous work and knowledge on domestic and foreign cars these guys are the best. All the mechanics were helpful and friendly. I needed my control arms replaced (which requires detailed handling and adjustments that even a DYI wizard could not do without a proper shop). I wish I could give negative stars. Moe and his team of "experts" will take your car and return it to you with all kinds of unrelated problems. Moe himself will look you right in the eye and say "it was like that when you brought it to me", as if people are idiots and don't understand anything about cars. What he doesn't seem to understand is that not everyone who brings a car in has no idea how to fix cars. Some people just don't have the time, tools, or desire. We'd all have mechanic shops if that were the case. This place is the classic example, the stereotype even, of a mechanic who rips people off. What's worse, they are willing to damage your vehicle in order to have you come back in and fix something else. Something that wasn't wrong with it before his lovely team of "experts" touched it. STAY AWAY for car service! When we first moved here, we took our car here because it was close and we didn't know any better. BIG mistake! They lied about a leak our car supposedly had. We didn't have them fix this mysterious "leak" and have never had it leak since. The item we did have them take care of, they quoted us $300 and then charged us $700 when we came to pick it up. When we complained that was twice the quoted price, he said the $300 didn't include labor and we didn't sign the original quote so he claimed that we knew that. The battery on our Highlander died, so we jumped it and drove it to the auto repair shop (and parking lot) across the street from Lamorinda Auto Care. But... that shop doesn't change batteries. And our car was dead right in front of it. Enter Lamorinda Auto Care, whose fine staff crossed Moraga Way and tried to jump the car. That didn't work again, as the battery was completely hosed. So they brought what they needed across the street and put in a new battery. The whole thing took 30-40 minutes, and they prioritized the work even though they were busy. Pricing was competitive and car now works great. Most of all, the kind and fast service really made our day. read more

I can't say enough of the quality of work -- and especially the fair business practices -- that the owner Mo holds to. I am a veteran business journalist who has exposed numerous fraudulent businesses, and I can't for a second believe one of the previous reviewers who claim to have gotten ripped off, because i trust Mo and his mechanics implicitly. Being ever cost-conscience -- after all, a penny not SPENT is a penny earned -- I often will call around after Mo gives me a price and find his is the lowest or very near the lowest available, and when I've told him someone else offered to do the work for less, if I give him the name and the quote, he will match it (even though for all I know the yellow-page sourced shop might be a chop shop!). To give you some idea how honest Mo is: I had a 2001 natural gas Honda Civic that Walnut Creek Honda "burnished" the trans to get rid of a rumble on initial acceleration. Within days, the engine would be racing while driving, and when I took it into Mo, he put it up on the lift, and found a crack in the transmission pan, where the dealer had overtightened the fluid plug. He advised me that the trans fluid had leaked out and judging from the racing tachometer during driving, the trans was likely fried. He advised getting the dealer to tow the car in, but the dealer said just refill the fluid and they would replace the pan. Sure enough, within 100 miles, the transmission was shot -- wouldn't move in any gear. The dealer initially tried to wash their hands, but Mo said I should fight them tooth and nail on it -- so I told them I had a mechanic I could call into small claims court if they didn't offer me a remedy. And so they agreed to install a rebuilt, 3-year warranty transmission at cost minus $1,000, for a total cost to me of $1,300 for a $3,500 job, which I was tickled pink to pay because the car had 135K miles on it (the natural gas engines run forever so I was golden). That's the kind of "service" Mo and his staff will give you -- not just repairs, but guidance and counseling. read more

It's taken me two years to write this, but I'm still upset enough to remember it, so... I had been going there for a few years (3 or 4 times). One time I go in because something doesn't feel right in the suspension. Fine. He puts it on the rack (by he, I mean "Mo," the owner... After a moment he says, "yup, back cv joint." Now keep in mind that this is a very low mileage Honda Si with a practically unheard of history of suspension issues because of their design... So, yes, he says cv joint, $ 250... I believed him at the time because he pretended to show me some kind of wiggle... I was out of moraga, in danville, and I didn't have time to take it back to moraga, so I decided to let danville do it. The owner asked, "so who told you it needed a cv joint?" I said, " the owner." He said, "well then let me ask you one more question... Did they have an alignment machine in their shop?" "No," I says... He then said, "well I'll have every one of my mechanics in the shop give you their opinion right now, to see if they think that joint is bad." Sure enough, four mechanics lined up and tested it... There was absolutely nothing wrong with the joint. He just wanted to sell me a part and labor. I'm really offended by that kind of business practice. I highly recommend. NOT taking your business there. There are plenty more deserving snd honest people around. Side note, the owner 's younger brother is okay, Mo's a thief, crook, dishonest businessman who should get deported. read more

Huge rip-off. Sign says premium gas is $4.05/gallon. Small print at top of sign says "cash only". So, I used my debit card, which is treated as cash at other stations. Nevertheless, I was charged $4.15/gallon. To add insult to injury, when I got home I discovered that I had also been charged a $1.00 "processing fee". read more

I broke down near this auto shop and they replaced a starter for me. At the time of the replacement they called me and said that my brakes were critically low and needed to be replaced. They needed to be replaced in the next week or it would be a safety issue. This was repeated when I picked up the car. A couple of days later I took the car to my regular dealer service and they measured the front brakes at 50% and the rear brakes at 80%. i being new to the rv world went to moraga auto center . to be totally taken in by there smiling faces . charged $420.00 for a tune up , and a fan belt , that broke 157 miles later . they assured me the alternator was fine . and after 200 miles it too died . leaving me & my stranded in fort bragg . waiting two days out of our vacation for parts to arrive . and having to redo the work that i'd asked to be done myself . i now was a pro . did i mention that i was releaved of a few items out of my rv i just bought because they had to keep it over night . a simple job 1 hour tops , had to stay there over night to be ransacked by these pirates. thanks brad. from a naive customer . i even suplyed all the parts . how hard is it to pull 8 spark plugs , & replace them , i even pregaped them to save time . these guys no how to bull shit u to death . &do nothing , just because u payed for doesn't mean u got it done right . thanks for nothing m.a.c. read more
