Listen if yall want some good wings! Chex is THAT PLACE! I have ordered from them multiple times and each time I'm more and more pleased. If I'm eating wings I need them to be fried hard and drums. Each time I try to switch up the flavor, but somehow I always find my way back to strawberry hot. Cajun ranch, strawberry hot, honey gold, buffalo lemon pepper, and cajun dry are a few of my faves. We've picked up wings here a few times! The wings are always delicious but could don't always travel the best. The dry rub travels better. It comes with plenty of dressing! To be fair it may not be fair for this to be the first review for this place because I went to a place that specializes in chicken wings and the biggest variety of sauces I've ever seen however I got a salad and a falafel sub. The sub was a little bit smaller than I expected and the falafel was not especially flavorful however if you're using a falafel instead of a wing and you're dropping it in one of their many sauces it's probably perfect. The salad was unbelievably huge and was very generous on the portion of chicken and the portion of avocado. Sadly though some of the lettuce underneath was pretty wilted and had to be picked out. However, when I was ordering and being indecisive, the workers said that they'll offer me samples of 3 of the most popular flavors. Not much on the outside but my husband is from Buffalo area and says they are comparable to Duff's (particularly the Buffalo hot - they are not spicy just have a kick). The food is great BUT! I ordered the chicken avocado wrap and it was wonderful but it came with an inexcusable amount of waste packaging! The wrap was covered in aluminum foil then placed on parchment paper inside a full sized to go white clam shell that was then in a t-shirt style shopping bag and I was eating the wrap there! It was not to go! The wrap should have been put on parchment paper then placed on a plastic food tray like most fast food restaurants use so the only waste would have been the paper. I've been looking high and low for good wings since moving to Nashville. I was excited to try Chex because of all the good reviews. I ordered take out so I can't really comment on ambiance or service. The wings themselves were good size and pretty tasty. I ordered 30 wings (strawberry hot, mango hot, and xhot buffalo). My largest complaint was that none of them were spicy. Like no heat at all. Personally I like my wings to make me sweat a bit, like at least medium or hot level of heat from Hattie B's for reference. There are an overwhelming amount of sauces to choose from (not a bad thing) but you'd think that they could have at least a few of those sauces actually have a little heat. As for sauce flavor, the xhot buffalo was buffalo (honestly on the more mild side of all the buffalos I've tasted). I typically love mango habanero sauces on my wings and I thought I'd try the strawberry hot because of all the recommendations. The wings weren't labeled but I thought, "no problem, I'll just taste one and then I'll know." All I could taste was a sweet sauce with a slight fruitiness. Ok... I guess I'll try the other one... Same thing. I could tell they tasted a little different but could not distinguish the mango from strawberry. I asked my wife to help me out and she couldn't either. They didn't taste bad, but neither was distinctly strawberry or mango so that was bit disappointing. Overall, I'd go back and get the wings naked and pick up some decent wing sauce elsewhere. read more
