My partner and I stopped here for a quick lunch after checking into our hotel. This was probably around 2pm on a Sunday. The restaurant wasn't busy at all so we were seated immediately. The good: The service was decent. Food took a little longer than expected to come out, but our server was prompt whenever we needed something. The fries were good. They tasted like they were made fresh instead of frozen. The ambience inside the restaurant is nice, they have large sliding glass windows so you can take in the sights and sounds of the city while you eat. The not-so-good: We both ordered the Nashville Chicken Sandwich. Listen, I will never claim to be a Nashville-style chicken aficionado, but this was not Nashville chicken. Picture it, two guys driving to Nashville to meet up with a friend on a Friday evening and trying to find a place to eat. Downtown is going to be crazy! Well my friend suggested getting on open table and we found this place on there and made ourselves a reservation for a good dinner time. We meet our friend and get there and we are greeted very friendly like from our waiter. Definitely a great guy who helped us out a lot. Really surprised the place did not seem full considering the rest of downtown Nashville is usually just chocked full on a Friday in late summer. The ambience was great and just a fun place. Our food was pretty damn good! We literally just got tons of appetizers and just thoroughly enjoyed them all. My favorite was probably the margarita pizza. This is a great place to take mixed parties to because it's something for everyone on the menu. Healthy alternatives (that also has flavor and are interesting not just regular salads) as well as vegan alternatives. Stopped by for a quick lunch on a Sunday after arriving to Nashville for a week. Ordered the Nashville chicken sandwich and it was just fine. For a chicken sandwich it was good. But for a Nashville chicken sandwich, not very memorable. There was no heat at all, and the chicken was incredibly thin, as shown in the photo. Fries were definitely fresh cut and tasted great. They weren't crispy but they didn't taste stale or soggy, just that type of fry that's cut fresh and cooked up. Sandwich was served with a truffle aioli that was delicious, I could eat a tub of it. It was a nice cloudy day and they had the big windows open, which seemed like a great appeal at first. Until several homeless people began hanging out right outside horsing around throwing trash around. One homeless man who was not in a proper state of mind (talking to himself and twitching) even came up to the window where two women were sitting and they were clearly unnerved and uncomfortable. I ordered the Black Angus Tap Burger, which was very tasty. It was a little closer to well done than I would have liked, but the meat was still juicy and well seasoned. The American cheese added a creamy layer to the sandwich and paired well with the special sauce. The soft, fluffy bun did a great job of holding everything together. The fries were good but a little too soggy for my liking, however the seasoning was amazing as was the side of aioli for dipping. While it was clear the restaurant was short-staffed, the service was still great even if a little slower. The beer and cider selection was amazing. That, coupled with the delicious burger, definitely makes me want to come back to explore more of the menu. read more

The food was decent but pretty average for tavern food. I got the Korean tacos for dinner, but technically they are an appetizer. They were good! My friend enjoyed her turkey sandwich. Two main complaints: 1) The service was meh. A customer should never have to ask for a water glass to be filled. My sister and I picked this place as a last minute place to watch the Super Bowl. Although we didn't have reservation we were promptly seated. Luckily we went early because it did get crowded as the game went on. My sister and I both order a pizza and they were delicious! They are perfectly cooked in the brick stone oven and but my favorite was the marinara sauce. They also offer a great selection of beers and ciders. City Tap Nashville is located in the heart of the SoBro area of downtown Nashville and sits on 3rd Avenue near the Demonbreun intersection. This is one of seven locations for the brand with the others being in Philly, Boston an VA/DC. City Tap is a slightly elevated sports bar, or gastropub as they put it. Either way, it is a solid spot for a casual meal whether it be for the company or the game. Speaking of games, I did discover that this is a Bills bar, so if breaking tables and snow is your thing...than this is the spot for you! This was my first trip to this location, but I visited the location in Atlanta a few times prior to its closing and will say that I was happy with each visit. While it is essentially one big space, seating is segmented in a few sections with the main dining room, semi-private/large group rooms and then the raised bar area that is fitted with a spacious bar with seats, high tops and plenty of TV's. If you are there a game, you do not have to sit in the bar area to catch it, I promise you will be able to see it from wherever you sit! The menu reflects the "elevated" side with things such as steak frites, meatloaf, Brussel sprouts, Korean short rib, shrimp and grits along with a few other items, however they do still have the bar staples such as burgers, wings, pizza and nachos! And of course they have a full bar to wash it all down with! Prior to our mains we got the Nashville Hot Cauliflower appetizer, which was crispy fried breaded cauliflower tossed in sauce sided with ranch for dipping...and it was delish! For mains, we both got the house City Tap burger, which is a generous patty topped with cheese, pickles, onions and lettuce along with special sauce, and sided with fries. I decided to 86 the pickles and onions and add bacon. They do cook it to order, which is nice. My medium was medium well, but it was still a tasty burger! The bacon was a solid choice, as it is thick cut and cooked crispy! The fries are underwhelming and not seasoned very well, but I am more of a tater tot guy anyway. I do wish they had more side options, as currently its either fries or a salad. So, boo on that. Service was solid. We were welcomed and sat quickly, and by sat I mean the host/Manager pointed at a table and we sat ourselves. Which is no big deal and worked out fine. Our server was friendly, efficient and on point. I am unsure of the parking situation here and if validation is offered, as the garage that is in the same building was blocked off during our visit, but we snagged a spot in a nearby garage on 1st and it was only $6. I got the Ginger Basil Margarita; it was very good. Not too sweet and didn't give me heartburn! Also, it's worth noting they have about a billion beers on tap (hence the name). I tried the Poke Bowl as recommended by our server, and she was right it was very good. I've been places where the raw ahi tuna makes me nervous, but here it was fresh and I'd happily order it again.
