We heard that this was the best BBQ in Nashville so we had to stop by. It was good but I wouldn't say great. We had the platter for two with brisket and ribs and our two sides were hush puppies and Mac and cheese. The sides were single size sides, I wouldn't say expect a bit more when the tray is to feed 2. The meat was good, super Smokey. The Mac and cheese had good flavor but was dry.

Great BBQ joint. Fast, walk through line to order. Brisket tasted great just wish the portion size was better. Good char on brisket and very tender definitely on point. Half smoked chicken cooked to perfection with amazing fries. Moon pies were phenomenal and get extra white bbq sauce for dipping you'll be happy you did. Establishment was clean, friendly upbeat atmosphere. Martins gets busy, parking spots were sparse so depending time of day it's worth the walk if parking isn't available. I will be a repeat customer trying something new each time.

Yesss ma'am!! Now this is a fine establishment! I absolutely loved walking into the outdoor seating area and seeing all of the plants, and this cool industrial look. Super awesome! They also offer indoor seating that is air conditioned, which was great to see both options offered!! We ordered our food at a window and they gave an item number, & the food runner eventually found me where I chose to sat. The nachos were sooo delicious! If I could change anything, I would just suggest adding pickled red onions, because YUM! Hahaha. They had a vinegar based bbq sauce that was very watery, unlike anything I've seen before, yet it was INCREDIBLE! I actually loved it because it brought so much more flavor to the food, without feeling like it was too much. I honestly wish I could have bought some to take home! It's fair to say I will easily be back here when I visit again! You HAVE to give this place a try!!!

We recently visited Nashville and had to stop by our favorite BBQ spot! This was our third visit, and every single time the experience has been amazing. We ordered the pulled pork sandwiches with fries and potato salad, along with the smoked wings. Everything was perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. You order at the register, grab a number, and seat yourself, which makes the process quick and easy. The portions are generous, and the food comes out fast. If you're in Nashville and craving great BBQ, this is definitely the place to go!

Great stop while in Nashville. Great staff, great hospitality, good food choices, and wonderful ambiance. Would definitely be back for another visit. Don't miss out on these Tennessee staples. Appreciate you guys having us.

In town for a Battery Council expo, we wanted to hit all the famous local eateries. Tonight was bbq night and Hattie B's was a one minute walk from the Omni. We ordered the full rack of ribs, beef slices, 18 smoked wings, fried catfish, fries, mac and cheese, broccoli, hush puppies, potato salad and coleslaw. Catfish was meltingly tender as was the bbq beef. Wings were smoky and flavorful. The only letdown was the bbq, dryrub ribs which were super dry, blackened, almost jerky like. Not yummy. Fries were flaccid and oily, otherwise the rest of the side were all well made. Nehi orange sodas all around, nostalgic. Picnic table layout with copious amounts of paper towels. Good times to be had here. About $200 all-in with tips and soft drinks.

Came in on a busy Saturday and got seated quickly at the bar. The service is friendly and easy. We opted for the feast that feeds twos and found it was a better bang for your buck. Plus the portions were great! The sliced turkey was on the blander side but the spare ribs fell off the bone!! I would say just a tad too much seasoning since it was hitting my throat when I took a bite. The spicy sausage is super spicy But we loved it. The brisket was just okay for us but super tender. The sides we opted for were the hush puppies, Mac and cheese, and green beans. I personally only liked the hush puppies. They were fresh and the batter was delicious. The Mac and cheese was awful and didn't have flavor. The green beans were good and had a stringy pork mixed in with onions. Overall I would try it again!

Brisket, my share of the ribs. Some Mac and cheese and some potato salad.

Everything was so good. From the minute we walked in, we were greeted and given details on how to order and gain our seating. The food was fresh and hot and very tasty. We shared a combo that came with 4 ribs and some brisket and two sides. We opt for Mac and cheese and potato salad and a side order of the hoecake. The hoecake was not my favorite but the potato salad was so good and had a nice crunch that I loved. The meat was tender, juicy and flavorful. The resturant had a rustic feel to it with MORE than enough searing to accommodate large parties or single diners

I was told a lot of good things about Martin's BBQ, but in my experience none of it was true. The BBQ was really dry overall. The brisket and the pulled pork were room temperature when it came out and the meat was fairly tough and dry. The sauce helped a little bit, but didn't really do much. The sides were ordinary, nothing special. For a place so highly recommended I was very disappointed with the food here. An uber driver told us that the owner recently sold the place out and new management was running things. Maybe all the high praise for this place was before the new management stepped in.

I'm in town for work and got here just in time to grab a late lunch. This was across the street so I tried it out. Definitely has the wood-y smokehouse BBQ joint vibe. I was given the choice of sitting at a table or at one of several indoor and outdoor bars. Went with the front bar. Staff were nice, service was quick. I got sweet tea (which was perfect, just like my mama's!) and the BBQ nachos. Bartender suggested getting them with pulled pork. They were messy but delicious! They didn't come with BBQ sauce on them that I could detect, but there are bottles of their house sauce up and down the bar. It's a slightly spicy, vinegar-based sauce. I loved it! I grew up on eastern NC bbq sauce and this wasn't too different from that. The slaw on the nachos was a nice touch to give it some crunch and make me feel like I was eating something healthy. My only complaint is that there could have been more meat in the dish. I doubt there was a full serving of pulled pork distributed across that entire dish. Still, it was tasty and I'd order it again.

We were in Nashville and of course, had to try one of these spots. I had a tray with catfish and while it was nice and crispy, it was so salty, I was only able to eat a small amount. The broccoli side was delicious and the mac n cheese was fine as well. We didn't realize there was a whole upstairs/outdoor area to hang out at - would definitely have chosen to eat up there if we had known!

Great option for lunch near the Music City Center. We walked over and sat at the bar. Friendly and attentive bartenders explained the menu, made suggestions and took our orders. Food arrived quickly- very good pulled pork, Mac and cheese and green beans. Perfect when you don't have a long lunch break. Tons of searing in multiple floors.

Always a great time eating bbq at Martin's. Food is always good and consistent. Pro tip, eat upstairs and enjoy the weather.

    Ask the Community - Martin's Bar-B-Que Joint

    Is this restaurant wheelchair accessible?

Yes, they have a ramp right at the front entrance and an elevator to the outdoor deck area.

    Are you dog friendly?

The outdoor patio was , but not inside

UPDATE: Thanks all for the quick answers. Sitting at their bar now- mask free;)... (Original question: It says mask required. Is that just outdated?)

    No mask required.

Is there a cover when a show is on? If so, how much?

No cover, just a great show!

On a Friday, what would be the best time for a group of 8 to get there and be able to sit outside?

I'm not from TN, but i would assume the best time is before peak time/line starting build up. So i would say between 4-5 pm; not too early and not too late.

Is the outdoor seating area dog friendly?

No dogs are not allowed in the outdoor seating area

Where is the best, closest free parking?

You can park on third avenue on the street (one block up). There isn't a ton of spots but its free if you can find it. There is a $5 pay lot directly across the street on 4th

This time, we switched things up and hit it for lunch instead. Good call. We grabbed seats at the bar, where Todd was holding down the fort. The guy was outstanding. Drinks never sat empty, food came out smoothly, and he somehow managed to be attentive without hovering over us every five minutes asking if everything was okay. My wife started with the Nashville Margue, which goes down way too easy for something packing moonshine. Light, refreshing, and carrying enough kick to remind you you're in Tennessee. Then Todd introduced us to a Bloody Mary made with a new pickle-infused vodka. Now, that sounds like one of those ideas that should either be amazing or a complete disaster. Turns out it's amazing. My wife loved it so much she's already talking about coming back tomorrow for another one. For food, we started with the pretzels and beer cheese. Simple. Warm. Soft. Salty. Exactly what you want while settling into a Nashville afternoon. Nothing fancy, just done right. Then I went all in on the mac and cheese topped with Nashville hot chicken. Yee Haw. Creamy mac and cheese. Crispy chicken. That signature Nashville heat. Comfort food with a little attitude. Just the way it should be. The best thing about The Stillery is that it knows exactly what it is. Good food. Good drinks. Good people. No gimmicks. No trying too hard. Just a fun place to sit down, relax, and enjoy yourself. Fifteen trips to Nashville (together) and it's still one of our first stops. That's probably the strongest review I can give. Five stars.

It has a small outside seating area, for when it is not a sauna, Inside there is a nice sized bar, if you are just seeking a drink. They are known for their mac & cheese, which I have never tried in all of the times I have been to the Stillery. Very creamy, cheesy mac & cheese. The Nashville hot chicken has a nice spice to it. A bit mild for the serious hot chicken fans, but the flavor is there. The chicken tenders are fairly standard. And the crinkle fries are mid. I enjoyed both of the drinks. At $14.50, they are at least $1.50 less than the standard Broadway cocktails in the star bars, so iti s a less expensive option to get a drink. I don't think they ever have live music, unlike some others here, so you are going for the food, not the noise. Service was great, as always. The staff is always prompt and knows their menu. It is more bar food and the menu is limited, but what they do, they do well.

They kept saying that all the Johnny-come-lately hot chicken shops in the other parts of the country were just pale imitations. Even Howling Ray's with all its reputation was not as good as those two. And I have to say Hattie B's does stack up considerably well. The tenders were, er, tender and juicy and kind of fat. I wasn't expecting Dave's level or giant honking pieces. The fries were seasoned well. And the piece of bread was a good side in itself. But I think my favorite was the baked beans. I don't believe I've ever had baked beans with hot chicken before. Most hot chicken joints stop at the fries and bread. Man, if I could have baked beans this good with my chicken, I might even go all baked beans and no fries. Fries are never my favorite anyway. The beans were just the right of sweet and savory to be a key side. The service was fast but friendly, as befits a restaurant that has lines out the door and down the block. I've never seen a line that crazy at any food hall. That the crew manages to manage such a large throng of folks with a smile on their faces is a testament to their training and/or temperament. The ambiance is great. For such a crowded place and a smallish dining room, Hattie B's manages to make it look welcoming and not as packed as you would think it would be. I usually dislike communal tables especially when you want private conversation with your friend, but here it still feel relaxed and relatively private. I think this is a badass location to place a Hattie B's and next time I'm by the Assembly Food Hall for like a Ryman show or a game with the Preds, I'm coming right back for these tenders and those prime baked beans.

It's my last night in Nashville so I want to go to a bang zoom restaurant. A few of my co workers have said to me: Mr Bill, we see every night you're going out to some amazing spots. Mind if we tag along? Sure, the rules are to keep your fork outta my plate when we sit down. Deal? The restaurant is very large, we're shown to our table. Set in the middle of the dining room and facing the bar. The bar can seat at least 25 people, the restaurant is set up for fun. To get our party started, I ordered a well crafted cocktail: Tea'd Up Old Fashioned Made with Bourbon, Black Tea and House Barrel Aged Bitters. Funky?? Oh yeah I'm with a bunch of Military Veterans and they're telling me their crazy stories. I'm sippin' my Old Fashioned and taking it all in, we need to bond over drinks and crazy things we all drank overseas. As an adult, I can appreciate my Nashville TN Old Fashioned with Black Tea. While we're talking, our waitress drops off a plate of homemade biscuits. The biscuits are fire! Buttery, flakey and moist, The Southern Steak & Oyster can make a damn good biscuit. Next, my Gumbo comes to me. The first taste I can tell this is a chef'd up dish. Better than anything I had in New Orleans. This gumbo is filled with Andouille, Crawfish, Shrimp and Fried Okra. Very flavorful indeed. My last entree in Nashville will be Fish 'N Grits. Fresh fish topped with Spicy Tasso Ham over Sweet Potato Grits and Bacon Braised Cabbage. This is a flavorful dish, the grits are very creamy and the cook on the fish was spot on. We had a great night at The Southern Steak & Oyster, it was a pleasure to dine at your restaurant.

Upon his return he was focused on everything but the 5 of us in the place until we finally had to ask to get service. The other visit everyone helped me but the actual server. Maybe this is a staffing problem, I don't know but being stuck for 20 minutes to order another drink with my meal is not acceptable. And I'm adding some input from the other diners because we all sat there waiting. - flavors are great, but the salt and spice level is overboard. I had the mushroom appetizer and nearly choked/coughed to death. I like heat but this was raw spice that overpowered the dish. And the salt about made my feet swell into balloons. Such a shame because the idea is great just poor execution - deviled eggs. Pass - BBQ Shrimp, sort of like the mushrooms right profile but overpowering - gumbo. Two other people had the gumbo and when I asked they said that too is just over spiced I want to like this place, but probably my last visit unless I just come for oysters. Sorry
