Martini
Tom F.

The decor is dated but clean. The staff was the highlight of the visit. Smiles everywhere and attentive. My Bombay gin martini was excellent. Shaken & super chilled in a large martini glass. Delicious. Then the unseen problemThe problem... behind the kitchen doors. I ordered classic escargot (which I make at home all the time because it's so simple) and, of course, the local pompano served with a lobster sauce. I was served an amuse soup, as were all the guests, that was described as "cassoulet". This soup was decidedly NOT cassoulet but instead something closer to an amateurish minestrone with overcooked pasta. No bueno. The escargot seemed not nearly as rich or flavorful as it should have been. I suspect the used a butter substitute or added water to the butter? Who knows? Just not a pleasant bite. Snails in watery butter and zero seasoning. The lack of seasoning was a persistent theme of the night. The pompano was truly embarrassing. The fish was served with a gummy underdone risotto for some reason? The pompano skin was essentially raw and just slid off the just overcooked flesh. There was no evidence of salt or pepper. The lobster sauce was over abundant & was used to cover the fish crime. I asked if I could have an affogato (vanilla ice cream topped with espresso) as I saw they had an espresso maker and vanilla ice cream. I was soon educated that the dessert offerings were bought in packaged containers. Why? In any case, they didn't have vanilla ice cream alone...just prepackaged Good Humor modeled Sysco desserts. Upon seeing these..I'd realized the executive chef (if there is one) had given up or never knew how to cook. Steer clear! This can't be your best choice...it's incredibly expensive for the product & execution delivered.

Salad with pine nuts, Gorgonzola, Serrano ham and so much more!

We were greeted by the hostess, the waiter that brought us water and another waiter. Tina our waitress welcomed us and took our order quickly but she said there was no hurry. She was friendly and brought our drinks and my salad. Our food was delicious and prepared as we requested. I'm so happy the service and the food were more than satisfactory as this has been a long time favorite.

Seafood crepe and skirt steak.

What a gem! The food was amazing. We ordered a grilled octopus for an appetizer. It was amazing. All the sauces really complimented the perfectly grilled octopus. For the main entree we ordered skirt steak and the seafood crepe. The food was delicious. The crepe was overfilled with amazing seafood. The bread pudding- best I ever had. The restaurant was just newly remodeled. It has a very stylish modern look. Service was great.

Limoncello gelato

A bit surprised there aren't more reviews. This small and quaint establishment has a lot of high quality and creative food to offer. Came in for a work event and we had tables blocked off to the side. We started with a side salad (unmemorable for me) and a soup that had beans (also pretty unmemorable). What was memorable was the main dish of fish with a lobster sauce and risotto. I still think about the sauce to this day. Flaky fish coupled with the decadent and creamy sauce- definitely recommend. The risotto was yummy but I do wish it came with something a bit heartier in texture, like a broccolini or some other vegetable. Originally ordered the pistachio gelato but they were unfortunately out.. so I settled for the limoncello. Tart and delish. Definitely worth a try!

My lamb chops with a bit of mint jelly

We had a wonderful time visiting Frenchies. The staff was so friendly and helpful (without feeling crowded). My Lamb chops were cooked perfectly and when I asked about mint jelly, they actually ran out and got some for me! I haven't been in Florida long, but I know I have found my special night restaurant! Portions are plentiful and we had lunch the next day - yum. Thank you for a delicious and very pleasant evening. Penny A.

Been here 3-4 times, keep waiting for Frenchie to come up with something that deserves the prices they charge. I can't justify a return...

Horrible. Onion soup was closer to dirty water. Steak frites was so tough and fries soggy swimming in butter. Honestly go somewhere else.

They have SCW's small chocolates from Italy which she was excited to see in the states. The store is on the small side but not difficult to get around. They have on the south wall a decent selection of wines and champagnes. Some pretty high quality labels. The middle of the market has things like glasses, cutting boards, some more wines and various other kitchen items. All looked to be of high quality. The north end of the market has a fridge/freezer section and a meat, cheese and deli counter. They have some meals for 2 advertised on the board above but keep in mind they are frozen, which didn't really work for us. But they do have plant based options which is nice. The employees are busy but are happy to help you if you need anything. Overall a good experience but knowing a little about wine, the prices are a bit more than I'd pay for the wines I saw.

Oh yeah, we just made it. They always say I got so sick I had to stay home 41/2 days I mean, there's no way I could gone anywhere. I was throwing up and running to the bathroom. It was just awful. I would just be very very very leery of buying anything from there. I called them three times they never would return my call Digit to keep getting written up by the health department just tells you how disgusting they are without even changing their ways and for me to get that sick and lose that many days out of my week is really awful. They have no right being in business selling food so be careful beware my husband threw the food out so I'm able to send you a picture, but it was the clam chowder from the freezer and it was the chicken soup the chicken salad?

After a long day of preparation for Easter for 3 daughters we needed a moment for us, before the next days celebration. We had the back room to ourselves and it was just perfect. I just had to say, my husband loves to cook for me, especially short ribs and a beautiful brown sauce and he is amazing at it. Well, this blew him and I both away. Also, the skewers were something out of this world. There is an article about them in Vero Mag. This place is a secret we want to keep to ourselves but a place with this much talent is meant to be celebrated. Ohhh and the Short Rib Rangoons! Thank you curfew for giving to very busy parents a couple hours to just connect and enjoy a wonderful place. We cannot wait to come back again. We had Short Rib Rangoon, Bubbly Crab & Artichoke Dip, steak skewer, Deviled Eggs, & a main Short Rib, Mashed Potatoes, Roasted Vegetables, Curfew Gravy.

We left because the bartender, Dillon I believe, was uninterested, a bit rude and completely lackadaisical in my informed opinion. In this case we had one and moved on across the street! You can trust me, I was in the business! ;D

The Food was BOMB raw oysters were delicious no grit or dirt so good def will be back again.read more

*INITIAL REVIEW*…read more Today, my family and I celebrated Mother's Day given the fact one of my sisters and I would be too busy to celebrate it on the actual day. Ergo, we made a trip down to Vero Beach and had fun at both McKee Botanical Gardens and the Vero Beach Museum of Art (VBMA), both which got stellar reviews by me in the past. In between both locales, we were hungry and needed to eat someplace local. I had some suggestions, but my mom was in the mood for seafood. As a suggestion from reviews, The Crab Stop of Vero Beach was ultimately decided upon. I have to say, I am happy this restaurant was suggested because it is very good. Even though an address is provided, The Crab Spot of Vero Beach (which I will shorthand simply to Crab Spot for the remainder of this review) is located on the southside of the entryway into Royal Palm Place, one of the many extensions leading out into the water near US-1, but this one is known for the Royal Palm Park at the end. Initial display, decor, and ambiance has the stereotypical local dive bar look with elements showcasing they specialize in seafood, and the little bits of rustic flaws adds a bit of character for what they are. I would not expect such a look for a high-end restaurant, but this works for a local place on the river. The chairs squeeked, the table wobbled a bit in which the waitress fixed with some coasters, and the plates were chipped. No problem at all. There was even outdoor seating in the back bar-style which gives you a nice view of the canal that leads to the river. It was high sun, so we opted for the air conditioning. Now we move on to the food. I have to say that the majority of our food was really good, and when you adjusted to what you are eating, it was top-notch. Key word, however, is the "majority." The good: the hush puppies basket as you get 10 hush puppies that are lightly-seasoned with 1000 island sauce. If you eat one, it is probable you might think it is light on seasoning. However, they are small and finishing all 10 won't be a problem. The flavor builds with each hush puppy, which was smartly done compared to what most seafood places do: give you like two to five hush puppies of large size and high flavoring. The wings, however, used a hot sauce that was mostly vinegar. This ruined the wings for me, and if my stepdad ordered 20, he'd be eating the majority of them. Everything else was top-notch and delicious. Altogether, my family ordered the Fish and Chips, Mahi Sandwich, Fried Catfish Sandwich, Sea Scallop Snack Pack, and the Crab Cake Dinner. Details for each dish in the pictures. On a sidenote, the restroom was okay as in clean and stocked, but not the best-looking restroom I seen. Maybe the "character" could have not be extended to the restroom. Ultimately, I am giving Crab Stop four out of five stars. I do enjoy a good "mom n' pop" place as I prefer to support local and small, but since this is the only time I went, I can't justify a five-star rating until they prove to be consistent. I will be back as there is another park just south of this business that has geocaches that need to be found AND I may also try to hide a traditional letterbox here. But take note for a local seafood stop, this place is good to go.
