Easy five stars as far as food goes! Our server was attentive, and the restaurant was very clean and inviting. Certainly recommend! One thing though -- we ordered apps, multiple apps to share, and because we said the magic words "we're going to split these apps", they charged us $8 per app to split them in the kitchen. Shoot -- we just wanted to share so we could try both. Our server didn't tell us that was the SOP just collected the $16. So that was kinda lame. At least tell us. We ate here once again on April 5, 2026 and once again experience overall top notch. Food perfectly prepared and fresh, service was exceptional even though there were several larger groups. Has a very upscale ambiance even though you don't feel judged or stuffy. Every time we visit Vero Beach, I have to eat here at least once and it's always one of my favorite meals. Whether you call it Di Mare or Chez Frenchie's, I just call it my favorite restaurant in Vero, hands down!!! read more

We had dinner al Frenchie's last night and had a wonderful, albeit quiet dinner. Cocktails were mixed perfectly and the wine selection was better than many restaurants. The Bouche a la Reina was perfection and my Pompano exquisite. One person had steak au poivre which was large enough to take half home. The crispy duck of another of our company was delicious. All vegetables were perfect, not over or undercooked. The service was so professional. Not to interventionary but just right. The atmosphere is subdued and invites good conversation. The decor is dated but clean. The staff was the highlight of the visit. Smiles everywhere and attentive. My Bombay gin martini was excellent. Shaken & super chilled in a large martini glass. Delicious. Then the unseen problemThe problem... behind the kitchen doors. I ordered classic escargot (which I make at home all the time because it's so simple) and, of course, the local pompano served with a lobster sauce. I was served an amuse soup, as were all the guests, that was described as "cassoulet". This soup was decidedly NOT cassoulet but instead something closer to an amateurish minestrone with overcooked pasta. No bueno. The escargot seemed not nearly as rich or flavorful as it should have been. I suspect the used a butter substitute or added water to the butter? Who knows? Just not a pleasant bite. Snails in watery butter and zero seasoning. The lack of seasoning was a persistent theme of the night. The pompano was truly embarrassing. The fish was served with a gummy underdone risotto for some reason? The pompano skin was essentially raw and just slid off the just overcooked flesh. There was no evidence of salt or pepper. The lobster sauce was over abundant & was used to cover the fish crime. I asked if I could have an affogato (vanilla ice cream topped with espresso) as I saw they had an espresso maker and vanilla ice cream. I was soon educated that the dessert offerings were bought in packaged containers. Why? In any case, they didn't have vanilla ice cream alone...just prepackaged Good Humor modeled Sysco desserts. Upon seeing these..I'd realized the executive chef (if there is one) had given up or never knew how to cook. Steer clear! This can't be your best choice...it's incredibly expensive for the product & execution delivered. read more

We ate here last Saturday evening. This place is amazing. The chef creates wonderful dishes. The sea bass with black truffle sauce was outstanding as was the seafood crepe. Our waiter Gary was very nice and helpful. The welcoming owner was also part of the charm of the place. We will definitely be back. read more

Had a fabulous meal tonight at Frenchie's.. I saw fishermen catching pompano today and then tonight it was one of the specials---as fresh as any fish I have ever had . I am a chef and the lobster beurre blanc was absolutely perfect. So much depth and just enough richness but didn't overpower the fresh fish. My husband's chicken cordon bleu was perfect as well, served with nice whipped potatoes and beautiful fresh vegetable medley.. They have a nice wine list and the wines by the glass are very reasonable..Our server, Johnna, was fantastic.. Just enough professionalism and knowledge and very friendly.. I was so impressed that "Frenchie" is still the chef. We have a restaurant ourselves so I know the love and work that goes into. Keep up the great work.. read more

We were greeted by the hostess, the waiter that brought us water and another waiter. Tina our waitress welcomed us and took our order quickly but she said there was no hurry. She was friendly and brought our drinks and my salad. Our food was delicious and prepared as we requested. What a gem! The food was amazing. We ordered a grilled octopus for an appetizer. It was amazing. All the sauces really complimented the perfectly grilled octopus. A bit surprised there aren't more reviews. This small and quaint establishment has a lot of high quality and creative food to offer. Came in for a work event and we had tables blocked off to the side. We started with a side salad (unmemorable for me) and a soup that had beans (also pretty unmemorable). What was memorable was the main dish of fish with a lobster sauce and risotto. I still think about the sauce to this day. Flaky fish coupled with the decadent and creamy sauce- definitely recommend. The risotto was yummy but I do wish it came with something a bit heartier in texture, like a broccolini or some other vegetable. Originally ordered the pistachio gelato but they were unfortunately out.. so I settled for the limoncello. Tart and delish. Definitely worth a try! read more

Overall, okay, but not worth over $200 for 2 dinners. The escargot lacked flavor. The house salad was overdressed. Dressing was simply ladled onto the salad, and not tossed with the the salad. The filet with cognac sauce was excellent. However, it was smaller than the 9 ounces listed in the menu. Also, the 3.5% credit card charge is absurd. Build this into the menu prices. How many people are paying cash at this restaurant and avoiding the charge? Frenchie's needs to look next door at Dario's to see what is successful. read more

With multiple friends raving about the Filet Mignon, we decided to try Frenchie's. I have to agree; the Filet was, by far, the best Filet we've ever had in Vero Beach. We're locals, and I couldn't believe how delicious it was. My wife had the same Filet, and she thoroughly enjoyed hers, as well. We both had the French Onion soup for a starter, and Suz mentioned how exquisite the broth was. Our meal ended with a Bombe Gelato: chocolate & vanilla surrounded with chilled chocolate and cherry (within); it was sensational! Corkage fee is $30. Our bill was $169; with tip, $210. We had a wonderful time visiting Frenchies. The staff was so friendly and helpful (without feeling crowded). My Lamb chops were cooked perfectly and when I asked about mint jelly, they actually ran out and got some for me! I haven't been in Florida long, but I know I have found my special night restaurant! My husband and I made reservations for Thanksgiving Dinner, weeks ago, for Chez Frenchie's. We have been there once before, earlier this year, and we really enjoyed it. Our reservation was for 5:00. We got there at about 4:50 and we were seated right away. We sat at our table for a half an hour and NOBODY came to our table, not even for water!!! Another couple that were seated after us were waited on. Servers passed by our table and we were completely ignored. I also saw the hostess several times walking around and I know she saw us not being served. Finally, I got my phone out and called next door to Trattoria Dario Restaurant and asked them if they had any available tables, seeing that it was Thanksgiving, and the hostess there said yes and that they could seat us immediately. So my husband and I got up and left. On our way out I specifically told the hostess that they could give our table away because we were completely ignored for a half an hour. She said it was her fault. How could it be her fault? She is the one who sat us and the wait staff walked by our table several times. Are you telling me that they didn't see us sitting there? It also looked like there were only two servers working. I could understand if they were packed, but there were empty tables inside and outside. Shame on you guys!! We will not be returning!! By the way, we had an amazing dinner at Trattoria Dario! We were immediately served and had a wonderful waitress!! read more

It took over an hour just to get our caesar salad which was really bad. Then a half hour later our meal came. We had the filet mignon we we ordered medium, but received rare. In addition the potatoes were cold on the inside. The filet mignon was tasty, but rare. To top it off they charged an additional 3.5% for using your credit card. Will not be returning. read more

We tried it for the first time since it changed. The restaurant is still the same and continues to be laid out very poorly and has uncomfortable seating. We both had the filet which were cooked to the right temperature and we will not complain. However, the AC still doesn't cool properly and I really hate eating dinner with sweat beads on my head. Same owners as di Mare but new concept. OOT visitors remembered di Mare fondly (as did we) and wanted to try it. Restaurant was, at most, half full. It started badly (said they couldn't find our reservation, seated us in the bar), and went downhill from there very, very slowly: 10 min for water on the table, 20 min for bread on the table, 1:00 to get the appetizer, which looked as sad to be there as we felt by then. 1:45 to get the entrees. Lamb, advertised at 4 chops for $57, delivered _one_ chop, cold, undercooked and tough, with a brown gravy instead of the promised cabernet sauce. Seafood "bouillabaisse" omitted 2 of the 4 promised seafood items and wasn't remotely a bouillabaisse (more like fra diavolo, OK with one diner, too spicy for the other). Seafood pasta ditto. (No advance warning about any of these menu deviations, and no mention of them at time of service, either.) Service was friendly but unprofessional and clearly unwilling or under orders not to apologize for or even acknowledge any of the many failings. This would have been a disappointing meal and an infuriatingly bad experience at less than half the advertised price. I'm embarrassed that I wasted my friends' evening on this mess of a place. read more

A short walk from our hotel after a day of travel - a welcome sight. Menu was very good. Service was impeccable! Bill at the end was formidable - $180 for two adults and a six-year-old grandchild! Okay, it's a prime location in a tourist area. BUT, one ugly surprise which cast a shadow over the whole experience for me ( which I kept from my wife until latet) I was charged a fee for paying with my Amex card! The corporate world is busily "nickel and dime-ing" us. "Resort fees" at hotels! Fees for SEAT CHOICE" and even "CARRY-ON LUGGAGE!" (?????) on airlines. (Nowhere on the menu was a credit card fee mentioned.) It was about $6.00 - a small amount compared with the dinner tab - but the lack of any prior notice strikes me as bordering on fraud. Went out tonight with friends, one couple for their anniversary and another for a birthday so we were in a celebratory mood. Everything was fine through cocktails and a very good bottle of wine was ordered as we made the food selections. We were pretty much through the bottle of wine and no food appeared even though the restaurant was sparsely populated. Our host finally had to inquire about the food delay and, surprisingly, his plate immediately appeared. But it was several minutes before the others were served, one at a time! I had ordered the brisket after asking about the preparation and felt assured that it would be prepared as I expected. My first bite set my mouth on fire. There was so much pepper it was inedible. The second serving was pepper-free but more on the order of shoe leather. The rest of the meals were rated as average. When the bill was presented, we expected that my meal would have been excluded since I had not eaten any of it and told the waitress that it was not good. Our host questioned that charge at which point someone came from the kitchen, we assumed it was the chef but hard to tell from his appearance, and proceeded to berate me telling me I didn't know good brisket when it was presented to me. Very unprofessional. So, bottom line don't go here but, if you do, eat whatever you order and like it or there will be heck to pay. I'm sorry there's no minus star. read more

Horrible! Onion soup? was very greasy. Hanger steak was over cooked and butchered incorrectly also leading to rubbery consistency. Sent back for a redo and cook came out and demanded to know what was wrong with steak. Told him. He left. Waitress, poor thing came back to our table and told us the owner said he will not cook anything more for our table!!?? Our guest, therefore did not have dinner! Owner needs to go back to school to learn how to treat customers. Also agree with Carlos, "...go somewhere else."! read more
